Out for a long bike ride with Cheezel. 55 kms and a bunch of high D/T caches. Had a ball!!This could have been harder to find, but it wasnt. And no complaints from me.I sent Cheezel in first to push the brambles and sticker branches out of the way. Easy find in the end.

Having sorted this puzzle along way back, we were very keen to find it.On such a hot afternoon, it was a slow and steady walk, but in the good company of E Smiley, whom we have not cached with for some time now due to our locations, it was an opportunity to chat and catch up as we walked our way to GZ. The salt pans and the wetlands in this area are beautiful and interesting and they also added to the walk. Some great mangoes around here also. Thanks Zytheran Domsky

Out for the day celebrating all things fun!
With our birthday girl turning a special number we all agreed what a nice way to celebrate her day.
We all met at Mrs bee's house before we flew to the starting point. We loaded cars with bikes and we headed off. There was a motley variety of bikes, some small, some tall, some powered, and most not!
Mrs Bee wanted to fly but apparently she needed to ride along this trail as GTA (Gabe The Angel) had energy to burn!! A lot of energy to burn..
LocusCache was the moving motivator jibing the youngest of our group that is she could do it at her age, so could he.
Sharing the load to collect that caches between GTA & James0116, we needed James height with some of the hides.
LiB was a super scouter pointing GTA to the correct spot, allisterw was happy to race the smallest of our group in the hope he got tired... he did not..

TFTC now we go to eat cake!!

Found it back in March when "Dave's Mob" walked the Nurragi trail, I asked if anyone would be interested in another adventure doing the Rainbow series, I was pretty sure this could be done one way instead of the 12km out and back trip. A plan was hatched, ways in researched and advice taken from other cachers at events.

Today was the day, myself a , OZGrumpy, Kayche23 & clive staples started on an adventure. After finding violet a couple of weeks ago researching the series, on to my second Zytheran cache of the day.

Stamped as The Brown Family aka “the coloured mint tin by the sea people”

Doineedthis, Goldy, Kayche23, clive staples and myself were on a mission to walk the length and collect the smileys. With cars at either end, this worked out a treat for the team today.

The Reel rainbow series was the main fare of the day. These puzzles were easier to solve than expected, and a nice long line of caches appeared here in the wetlands. Continuing in our approach from the western end, we find ourselves past the end and collecting some others, including this one. I am unfortunately not the holder of the solution, with the final gifted to me on this cunning puzzle from the legend that is Z.

Find #8289 at 10.38am on a beautiful Saturday. Container in great condition, I removed all the old sodden mess, Kayche cleaned it up, new log stamped/signed and returned in better condition than found. Thanks for the cache Zytheran.

I decided I'd go out for a stroll while the weather was nice.

I walked up to GZ and spotted a way in, the cache was quickly located but the log was damp so I added a new one.

I meant to drop a TB that wants to go to D5 caches but I left it at home.

I'll try and return later in the week to drop it off.

Thanks Zytheran for this mystery cache, which brings Goldy's total find count to 2940 on the 18th of April 2023.

I have hosted quite a few CITO's in my time, making huge differences thanks to the people who came along!

Whether you're out finding caches or just taking a stroll somewhere, remember to always be CITO-ing to help maintain our parks and reserves!

This one has been on our list for a long time but with Covid and construction works we never quite got there. Trying to pick the best parking spot was tricky and still resulted in a bit of a walk. A quick find at GZ but everything including the various replacement logs are wet. We melted out the pool of water and managed to leave a bit if ink but the next find please bring a fresh log and bag. Yay. Found it. Wow. I’m with the last finder. Someone I know has helped me out here and in the past I would never have come this way but today finds me nearby. Sadly container is very waterlogged and even what looks like a replacement inside container was wet through. I made a bit of my mark in light blue pen and have taken a photo if required. Many thanks for the smiley!

After finally completing my DT grid, after just 9 years !? What’s my next challenge? With demands on my shared car with the Monkey and my Mum suffering declining health, caching is quite focussed at the moment. With a few outstanding signed challenges (500 puzzles-grrr, 50 large caches and flashlight required) I’m working my way on these between the city and Kapunda and building in Port Hughes. Letterboxes too along the way.

Anyway, sorry for the geo ramble, I’m logging this cache for my sanity. Thank you for placing it for us to find. Thank you for contributing to the geo map and maintaining when needed. All the best for the festive season and fingers crossed we can all enjoy 2022. TFTC

On a trip with others doing the PATOG series and we found this cache along the way. Some times it's not what you know but who you know. In 10 years a whole heap has changed in this area. If it hadn't I probably wouldn't have found this cache today.

A big day out with sir_spectre, Allister W, JJ52, tallbikestan and azzo (and his Dad). Today we tackled the PATOG series and all caches were found, only a couple took more than a few seconds. This was a bonus while we were passing.

I tried to come here back in September 2018 with e.gregory1 who solved the puzzle at the time, due to the northern connector upgrade we weren’t able to make it to GZ and would wait till another day till upgrades were completed

Today I headed out with the godfather (Freddo) and Davidwazza to complete the nexy challenge trail and start the next big thing. A nice ride along the trail for the whole 50km as we went from Gawler to Port Adelaide. A great day out with over 40 finds.

We stopped by this cache along our way, the cache had been found by the other 2 so they pointed me in the right direction, unfortunately the logs in the cache were worse for wear so replaced the inside with another cache to help keep it going.

Thanks for the cache

This evening after work, I headed home a little early with a plan to ride the *Geoart Reel Rainbow series of Mystery geocaches* series by Bob From Elsewhere. I brought my mountain bike, and headed off along the levy tracks. There were mosquitoes and little flying things galore, and I hadn't prepared myself with Bushmans or mosquito spray. Every time I stopped, it was a challenge to keep looking and swatting! It was a nice evening to be out and about, and had wanted to make the most of geocaching and fitness before any planned COVID-19 lockdown that only seems inevitable now.

I recalled some talk of this one, and whether this cache would survive with the nearby northern connector construction. Despite still some final construction vehicles about, I had the place to myself since it was past knock off time (I called past this cache around 6:10 p.m.). There was no fenced off areas or barricades to cross, so I never went into any exclusion or restricted areas. I followed the tracks along to GZ, parked the bike, and spotted the cache hide upon approach. Eureka, a Zytheran cache! The inside contents were all water damaged and dry, but there was one plastic bag containing a logbook from the previous visitors that could still be signed. As I was looking through the contents, the mosquitoes attacked. They were especially bad here, as I was surrounded by mangroves on all four sides! As I swatted one leg, the other leg filled with 4-5 little suckers. So I had to take into turns actioning the cache, whilst swatting them away. Once I did the bare minimum signing duties, it was a quick retreat back to my bike, and pedal off away from the mozzies homeland. Thanks Zytheran for the geocache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this cache with 583 days [19.2 months] of unfound love since its last find on 19/08/2018.

In terms of this puzzle, I'm not sure if it can be solved anymore, as the video gif appears to be missing? Some further investigation into this may be required to keep it alive?

Found during a trip to Adelaide with Pacman, Jacko83, SedgewickDave, Tritonz and Homburg for a caching trip adventure that would include many hikes, kayaking and getting some tricky D/T's.
The trip was well planned with months of preparation; solving puzzles, planning the best road routes, caches to find and kayaking to do. We had a great time and the SA cachers are commended for their caches.

Thanks for the cache.

19-Aug-18
Day 3 of our SA roadtrip was a massive day which included long creek walks, clambering around cliffs and then kayaking amongst the mangroves at midnight.

Around lunchtime we walked about 7km in this area finding mostly puzzle caches, starting off with this one. Fortunately no UFOs around to watch our unusual trailhead approach to GZ Smile.
A difficult puzzle but an easy find at GZ.
Thanks Zytheran.

When you've exhausted your local supply of DT stars, what is there to do?
You do what any good Viking would do - prepare your ship and go plunder the DT stars which are so abundant in neighbouring states!
Many weeks of planning (and puzzle solving) went into the trip preparation. And so it transpired that this weekend the honourable Vikings Tritonz, Jacko, Quasar, SedgwickDave, AHomburg and Pacman set off from Melbourne and embarked on the 'Adelaide DT Raid'.
What a fun adventure-filled boy's weekend it was - with a full complement of kit including ladders, kayaks, 4WDs, torches and climbing gear no GZ and no cache was out of bounds on this expedition. There was a simple focus - we were just reaching for the higher stars. We returned home 4 days later with an amazing haul of stars and smilies.
Thanks to all the COs who contributed to the fun.

In Adelaide for a long weekend of full on caching in the great company of Jacko83, ThePacman, Quasar3671, ahomburg and sedgwickDave. With a lot of planning, targets were set, puzzles were solved, lists were put together and then eventually the journey was made to SA where we were spoilt with interesting caches in great locations.
After a relaxing evening enjoying a local pub meal and a few drinks we felt revitalised and ready for our last full day of caching in Adelaide. The plan was to kayak amongst the mangroves first thing but the strong wind put paid to that, at least for this morning anyway.
So we set off for a walk instead, battling the blustery wind. Grateful for friends helping with the puzzle in this instance, getting us over the line making for an easy find today.
Thanks Zytheran for adding to our adventure today.

Find #9750

A long planned visit to Adelaide for a boys extra long weekend was finally here, so there was a big group of victorians headed over the border for a select list of caches, many of them long time solved and others solved in the last week or so. Kayaks onboard, we were ready for a big 4 days. The megaraid crew consisted of sedgwickDave, ThePacman, Quasar3671, Jacko83 and The_Tritonz.

Day 3 was supposed to be the kayaking day, but due to bad tide conditions and high winds, we put it on hold. until later in the day. A change of plans and a walk was decided upon, before some kayaking this evening.

This was the walking portion of the day, a mostly pleasant walk, although the wind at times really was wild.

Many thanks to Zytheran for the cache. TNLN.

This puzzle was a real cracker, had me up for hours past bedtime pouring over notes and scratching my head. Things started falling in place, then tested the checker....GREEN LIGHT!!!!

Ok.

None of the above was true. Someone had the coordinates and we all signed it. I don't know who solved it, if they solved it, or if the coords were given to them by someone else. I like to know how puzzles are solved but in this trip with a bucket load of puzzles worked through I was happy to be a naive logger. I know it's Zytheran, so it was probably full of lots of complicated ideas that I'd need spoon fed to me.

Is honesty the best policy? Who knows.

What is true, was this was a great walk out with friends. We probably wouldn't have done it if there wasn't a heap of puzzles along here to pick up. At some point I was certain we were trespassing but Ce La Ve.

Happy days - thanks Zytheran.

An oldish cache now but a goody long ago solved and when I rechecked the checker last week I worried that it didn't check but I found it anyway right where my GPS took me.
Lots of construction going on around here too but it was Sunday and all quiet.
Cache still in good order containing just a tiny log sheet now

You have heard of the Big Day Out haven't you. Well this was the Bob Day Out. Joined a Rat, a Snake, a Locus and an Owl for a group assault on colourful BFE caches. [^]
Assault actually means a pleasant 11 km walk with a fun bunch of cachers exchanging banter and laughs. Cool Of course it got competitive as to who would make the actual finds and the pace noticeably quickened as each GZ approached. Surprised
After finishing this series it was time to continue our walk a little further and grab this one also. A very nice spot to hide a cache which I quickly located Smile

Having previously solved and found over 50 Reel™ mystery caches the plan was to try to solve and find all the rest this this month. Over a couple of busy weekends solutions were found. This was the weekend to go and try to find them.
Saturday - 50 mystery caches found including 2 Zytheran mysteries and 49 Reel™ mysteries.
Sunday - 5 more Reel™ mystery caches found. But one of yesterday’s Reel™ finds became a DNF (GC5PDR2 Reel Green). One to go.
Monday – Reel Green finally found to reach (temporary) Reel™ mystery nirvana at 0655 on 27 July 2015.

This was one of two not REEL caches found today. Both were Zytheran mystery caches. Flashing lights over the mangrioves. What could they mean? Could some other lights help from another peninsula. There was gold there and they were deciphered. This lot were significantly harder, so option two was considered. Previous logs were reviewed.. Hints identified. And some possible sites located. The the geocachecker was given a workout.
And sometime brute force works.
And during today's walk the cache was lcoated. Sadly it was full of water (again). Emptied the water out and log dried as well as possible. As has been said before including by me. How does Z find these hides?

Went for a walk today to find couple of Z cache, after outsourcing the puzzle solving! Smile That is not to say I didn't try to solve it. I actually came up with a probable location, but never tried my solution as it was so far to get to test it out! Needless to say, didn't have the hordes onhand to do a mass assault of the ifids! The actual solution is within 1km of my guesstimate, and possibly could have found the cache if we had a spare few days, but who wants to spend nice days in a place like that! hahaha
Anyways, completed a 6km round trip walk for this and another nearby. On a bike would've helped outrun the ifids!
Cache container was half full of water (who would think that in middle of summer?), however the replacement log is still dry in it's baggy.

Out cache hunting today with froghoppin and Team Scoobster. I've had this cache in my sights for a few years now. I've extracted so many numbers from the image - I wasn't sure whcih ones I needed and how to make sense of them.

Speaking of my woes with this cache at an event last year, I was told a tale by several seasoned cachers of the FTF expedition and how the cache was found using alternative techniques. Well after that story and knowing I would be in the area today to pickup another solved puzzle I though we could try our luck. Luck was on our side as the elusive cache was located in a "just right" spot.

The container was full of water, but the replacement log and bag were in good shape and the log perfectly dry.

Signed the log. Thanks for the cache Zytheran.

Three of us set off after this elusive cache, with many clues and tibits of information we were confident our presumed coords were close to the mark, once at GZ there was plenty of weed growth but we were on the money and a cache full of water was found but the new log book was floating in its protective bag, emptied the water and signed the dry log book, glad to finally put this one to bed TFTC

Talk about a harsh introduction to the world of 'ifids'. I'd stumbled my way through an 'ifid' in a remote location with the help of 4Z who corrected my typo in my transcription, which resulted in the whole thing being a impossible to decipher. Reading through the logs, it would appear that 4Z and I maybe one of a very limited number of people that have actually solved this 'ifid'.

Solving it didn't come without some pain. The pain similar to being repeatedly smashed over the head with barstool OR hurtling down a hill on your BMX, going over the handlebars and coming to a grinding halt after a 10m slide across the bitumen. Z has a techniques that are all t0o familiar and he has tried to employ the all in one fiendish puzzle. Salt water was added in large quantities to ensure this star never rises in my dreams again.

The walk to GZ was flat. Not that long BUT flat. Few Z caches are in locations where the terrain is flat. The GZ was identified quickly and the large heavy cover revealed. The container contents are stuffed. We washed and dried the container and replaced it with a fresh logbook.

Gotcha!

Is it possible to strain a quad muscle while solving a puzzle? I think we almost managed to do so with this one.

But, solve it we did, which meant that we were able to significantly optimise the search algorithm employed successfully by earlier searchers. I think ours only needed two or three iterations. Although, an exception was thrown by the FTF_DANCE() function indicating that the prerequisites han not been met, and never could be.

But I did have the pleasure of witnessing a little FULL_DT_GRID_DANCE() instead. Not one I've seen before. I might need a bit of practice before I can do that one.

Thanks Zytheran

After obtaining one of the keys to unlock the mystery cache the adventure had just started, we soon had the second one and now we need the other three, one is in the hands of GPS, one is in a COC cache which is slowly being worked out and the other one in here, not being a puzzle person i start asking around, grabbing clues and soon have a rough idea where to look, it is still a wild goose chase and a large search area but there is hope, 4 people set of in search of this cache and after a bit of a walk we arrive at what we assumes was GZ, after getting quite a few scratches from the bushes and looking in many places it was time to phone a friend, seeing the misery i was enduring he gave me a more accurate area to focus our search, this area was on my hit list to be checked, i soon spot what looks to be a likely hiding spot and bingo we have cache in hand, the TB was my main reason for finding this cache and i now have the extra info i need, i decided to just obtain the info and leave the TB in its resting spot awaiting the next adventurer,on the way down to this area and back again i was looking in all sorts of places just incase there was another cache hidden here, i have learnt to check any spot that may be suitable for a hiding spot,we didn't find any but that's not to say there isn't any more around here, the cache is in need of some attention as it has taken on some water and everything inside is in need of replacement, this has been a fantastic journey so far and even tho i didn't solve the puzzle it has been an adventure getting up to this stage.....now to solve Sefs cache and get the last TB : ) Thanks for the cache Zytheran.

A call was received from #LG to go on a wild Goose chase, I accepted the challenge. WE set off to an assumed GZ. It was quite a walk to GZ, with 4sets eyes set to work searching the assumed area to no avail.Sad It was decided that phone a friend was in order, call made, we head to another location to focus our search on. #LG makes the find, we Sight the TB take down the info.Smile This cache needs maintenance as it has taken on water. Sad This was a fun challenge. TFTC

Nice walk with Geohusband Redwolf, bit of a breeze so no mozzies! Long grass, prickle bushes. Thankfully no snakes. Nice cache Very Happy

Finally collected this one with Pegasus93.

After many months of mental agony, and after solving pentaxorifids, a glimmer of light shone through on the solution to this most evil puzzle. The glimmer slowly became a flood and to my amazement I had a solution.

The retrieval came a couple of months later, and was a stroll in the park (or rather the nasty mozzie infested swamps) by comparison. No mozzies this time though, but we did encounter a mutant prickle bush that must have been conjured by Z himself Smile

Yes, the chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one. Bit still they come
Yes, the chances of jetskiing this cache are a million to one, but still it got found
Yes, the chances of anybody solving this very mean puzzle are a million to one, but still it got solved.

So armed with the above knowledge I embarked on a journey to add my name to the logbook and to complete the most elusive D/T combination remaining on my chart.

The puzzle was a doozy, but after solving pentaxorifids, I felt I stood a better chance of getting some decent coordinates. And lo and behold after playing around with a few interpretations, I did manage a set that I felt were worthwhile submitting to the maker of the puzzle. Turns out I was out by exactly one minute on the East coordinates….. (I leave it to future solvers to determine which one was right).

So this morning was the perfect morning to go for a stroll. No trifids, quadrifids, nor pentaxorifids were spotted. Not even a single mosquito was about on this stunning still morning (see photo). All I saw was an abundance of bird wildlife and yes a cache!
Tftc Zytheran.
78 D/Ts down and 3 to go!

Driving past the dummy coordinates this morning I followed a car with an intriguing number plate "QUADR__" which just made me smile - perhaps this little silver car was the UFO you sawWink One day I'll get that final smile needed with a find log.

Find 1329
Found with the GPS (I have the technology).
The coordinates were a calculated guess from the video, the landmark photographs and notes in the previous logs. Some may call it triangulation or quadrilation or more likely it was strangulation.
Geochecker would not confirm the coordinates were correct but I went and found the cache under the only rock I shifted in a 10 square metre area.
Thanks to Zytheran for the cache and the challenge.

The question you have to ask is, "Who traumatised Zytheran when he was a sperm?"

Brute, Force, and Ignorance rode into town.
Brute, Force, and Ignorance knew there was a cache nearby.
Brute, Force, and Ignorance got chewed by mosquitoes
Brute, Force, and Ignorance looked under every rock.
Brute, Force, and Ignorance donated some blood.
Brute, Force, and Ignorance looked under another rock.
Brute, Force, and Ignorance donated more blood.
Brute, Force, and Ignorance looked under another rock.
Brute, Force, and Ignorance donated more blood.
Brute, Force, and Ignorance looked under another rock.
Brute, Force, and Ignorance donated more blood.
Brute, Force, and Ignorance found a Triffid.
Brute, Force, and Ignorance killed the Triffid.
Brute, Force, and Ignorance rode out of town.

I'm not sure whether we were brute, force or ignorance. I was going to say ignorance, but then again, who is spelling ignorance correctly today?
We've had varied success finding caches in this manner in the past. Think like Z, we thought to ourselves. All that achieved was confirming that wandering around in a miasma of hopefully-not-disease-carrying mosquitos was indeed a very Z thing to do. The relief at the "woohoo!" call was immense.
At which point we dove in, stamped, and then GTFOT.

"A simple method had been found to find the Triffids" - the following pseudocode algorithm was written over a few bottles of wine, then executed on a system running 9 concurrent organic processors.

FOR RADIUS 0 TO 3000 M STEP 1
FOR THETA 0 TO 2*PI STEP 0.0005
X=LISTED LONG + RADIUS * COS (THETA)
Y=LISTED LAT + RADIUS * SIN (THETA)
IF TERRAIN(X,Y)<3 THEN
GOTO X,Y
IF ROCK THEN
LOOK UNDER ROCK
IF CACHE THEN
FTF_DANCE()
ELSE
SWAT MOSQUITOS
NEXT THETA
NEXT RADIUS

Nice hiding spot Z, but I hope the container is waterproof..

Ingnorance is bliss

I must be bliss?
or at least 'blistered' from al those mozzies,
When in Rome, do as the Romans do,
When at GZ, swat like crazy and hope for the best!

Freddo that was a Woo Hoo of shear jubilance like I've never heard before!
And what a dance Big Grin
I thought you had won last nights 20 million in the lotto,

Thank to Brute, Force, Ignorance and Z

A joint *FTF*, found with the swat team. We looked, we swatted, we looked some more. We found, then the swtting really began - agents of Zytheran I think.
It is a barren place, but when you get close, there are a surprising number of rocks.

Sorry, that answer is incorrect. Do try again:
(You have made 1 attempts in the last 10 minutes). Geeeeez. Even taking the coords with the cache in my hand, I thought I'd plug those in to the checker. After all, that was going to be the only way I would ever see the Congratulations message. I wondered what joys the little congrats message would have said - like take Jungle Strength Aeroguard, or now take a packet of Panadol. I will never know. Never Never Never. Sad

The frog and I discussed Zee's doctor. The Frog wondered about preconception. An interesting theory. The afterbirth Smile was more my angle... Perhaps the Dr didn't smack him hard enough when he was born. Or did the Dr hang him upside down for too long? Perhaps he was dropped???

I guess we will never know Big GrinWink

Clear skies on this lovely day!!! [^]

After a very well timed message this morning I joined the swat team as well.
I must congratulate you Z on training such an enormous army of guards for GZ. But our combined slapping skills were up to the task and the hidey hole was revealed eventually Twisted
As so many have asked before, How do you find these spots?
Cheers and thanks for the transfusion and a massive joint FTF!
