Hi Darby&JoanThis geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived. Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.RegardsTheCoddiwompler
Stunning views over Kuaotunu. Shame it was cloudy! A nice quick find. TFTC
Had a great rainy and „planti“ walk. Less view but great found. Cache is in good shape!
First of 2023! Had the muck around in the bush a bit, made some friends, and finally found it.
Came up from the beach. Slippery route but there were sturdy things to grab on to. Thought it’d be an easy find given the clues - but it wasn’t. I reread the clues carefully then it wasn’t long before I got the prize. TFTC.
The track up the hill towards gz is rather overgrown, wet and muddy. There was also a lot of cutty grass to contend with. Once at gz. We checked out the view which is not as good as it once was as the trees are now blocking the views.
We checked out a few hint items before we found this cache. TFTC

So pleased to find this one nice and close to the track. Cache is all good. TFTC
We were coming down the hill on the way into town to grab some lunch. Didn't feel all that hungry yet though and therefore decided to give this cache a try. Well worth it. Path obviously doesn't get maintained properly anymore, but cache is still there and so is view. Took us a bit longer than expected to find the obviously obvious spot.

Took a bit to find. Started expanding our search and then thought it shouldn’t be too far from the track and it wasn’t. Good views here.
Malinkaly and I planned a road trip to go to the MEGA but Covid has postponed the event again. We decided to continue on with our planned journey making adjustments as we go with the ever-changing travel restrictions.
Greetings from Dunedin!
Thanks for the cache, Darby&Joan

This took us longer than expected, was eventually found by the little cacher, spotted without a forage. Stunning view. Tftc
Found with Reny90. What a view, never knew this trail was here, yet I've been holidaying nearby all my life. Thanks for bringing us here. T4TC
We approached this from the beach for a quick snag and tag at GZ. Cheers.
Day 7 - Christmas Eve Thursday 24 December - Whitianga - Matarangi and back to Whitianga. So lets go exploring!
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Looks like I need to do some map editing here too - the track to this cache is missing. No worries, I took a plot of it and will add it in a week or so, once I finish liggingt his lot. As we climbed up to this cache I had flower petals falling like snow around me. At first I was thinking manuka / kanuka, but no, they were a lot smaller than that.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the feaukna/kanuka, but no, they are a lot smaller than thanw places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 Jatoo - thenuary we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

Unexpected long weekend! Off to Coromandel then... Day 2 ... Nice little stroll to cache location. Any rain on the horizon? Not yet ... TFTC
A short sharp up and down from beach level and we were at the right place. Bring a picnic - there’s a table and stunning view! TFTC
What an absolutely splendid location for a cache. We, like the CO, stopped in the car park, looked at the sign and wondered where it went. Geocaching gave the answer. The view is splendid. For me this is what geocaching is all about. Have a favourite.
Found after a cafe lunch at Lukes Place with NZGeo. Onto Matarangi for the next lot of caches.
Beautiful lookout, I have been coming here for 10+ years and never knew about this bush walk. Found the cache pretty quick and enjoyed the view
What a great place for a cache - the views were indeed stunning! Thanks for the hide.
I decided to go and have an explore out to the remote beaches to the East of Matarangi today.
This was the first going up Black Jack Rd. The cards turned added up to 21 here when I found the cache[:o)]. Or maybe Black Jack was somebody like Black Pete from the Mickey Mouse cartoons, When whoever put in the steps didn't they buy enough for an even 100?
The log was a bit soft to write on so replaced it with a waterproof one.
Cheers for the cache.

Decieded that today it was time for a bit of a road trip and the need to grab a few caches that were sitting in an out of the way location or three. So heading up here nice and early West of Coromandel Township for a few mainly along the roadside.
Short up hill walk and then a great view to enjoy,
Thanks for the placement, thanks for the cache

The track is very overgrown with cutty grass so make sure to wear long pants. Once there it was an easy find
Found by dad kids didn't make it to the spot due to the cutty grass great track but has not been looked after way too much nasty stuff over the track
Summer holidays with the family but today was set a side for me and geocaching. I took my eldest with me setting off from Tairua around 7am - weather was stunning, almost a little too hot but it was an awesome day - no DNFs.
We got off to a slow start here going left when we should have gone right. Then the right track was very over grown which wasn't a problem until we were amongst all the [Hooked Sedge Grass](http://www.terrain.net.nz/friends-of-te-henui-group/plants-grasses-sedges-rushes-nz-natives/hook-grass.html). No point in pulling it off though until after the return trip. Pack your gators people GZ and the cache were straight forward and it was a magnificent view. Cheers for bringing us here and TFTC

Find number 4115. I enjoyed the walk along the track to this one. Yes I huffed and puffed a bit. Yes the track was wet under foot. Yes the track was overgrown a bit. But that all adds to the experience. At GZ I was surprised to find a picnic table to sit at. I was not surprised to easily find the cache. All good with it. Had to stand on the table so I could enjoy the view more. Thank you for bringing me here.
Took the long trail...poor track needs some TLC. Nice walk to GZ enjoyed the view along the way...at GZ a quick find and sign and had the place to our selves the natural growth has stolen most of the view thanks Darby and Joan for the cache
Looked at this one and said yep I'm up for the challenge! Started a bit of a jog but slowed down with the overgrown path - lots of pampas. Not a track for bare arms and legs!! It seemed a bad joke to then have to descend down again to the cache. Not much view anymore either but I was on a mission up and down again!! Thanks for the placement Darby&Joan
Return2nai scrambled down from the top to grab this one, lovely views today, paddle boarders out and about. TFTC!
Came in from the top for this one, not quite physically challenged more a matter of extreme heat and the end of a long hot day. GPS died at GZ but we managed to make the find ok, TFTC
Nice walk up from the Reserve by the creek. A bit of curry grass across the track though. TFTC
Staying at Whitianga for a week's R&R and looking for a few cache's here and there in between swimming and tramping. Walked along the beach first hoping to climb the cliff but no such luck so drove up to the top. TFTC.
Day 2 -We had planned a big weekend with 6 of us travelling the Coromandel area and logging caches as team BOP. Found many great spots, several caches we replaced wet log sheets and others missing for some time. Lots of km's travelled on tarseal, gravel and some not so good roads. Lots of rained showers seemed to plague us on the first day. SLTFTC
With Gap (of Fap and Gap), (Mr) Davidson clan, NZFlossy, TNXPro, and Philip.Perry… This is the first time we have cached overnight together. What an adventure… We group signed as Team BOP for efficiency and expediency.
We visited so many beautiful and remote locations on the Coromandel Peninsula. Many of these areas deserved to be hosts to caches. However, we encountered several that needed owner maintenance. Wet logbooks seemed to be far too common (We’ve had a lot of rain). Oftentimes, a sodden logbook was stuffed back into the container with a new, bagged logbook alongside (What's up with that?). And then there were some caches that were quite obviously missing (and have been for a while)… Nevertheless, a huge thank you to all of the COs for bringing us to these amazing places… We are determined to return and explore some more.
A slippery trek down to the cache, but a worthwhile view in the end. TFTC.

Parked close to the suggested parking on Black Jack Rd. I wondered why I had to go so far down to get to a stunning view. but I was indeed rewarded with a grand view and a cache find. Track could do with a bit of maintenance but very easy to follow.
Road trip around the Coromandel with lots of caches to find. What a stunning spot, lovely white sand and calm oceans. Quick easy find. TFTC.
With the annual work fishing trip on this afternoon in Coromandel town, I thought I'd make a full day of it and head over first thing and make it a bit of a caching trip too. So I was out the door about 5.30am, with a general plan to find caches around the Whitianga and Kouatunu areas before heading over to Coromandel Town for the fishing trip.
With only 20mins or so left before I had to head off to the fishing trip, I couldn't pass up one last short walk. Came in from the top and jogged down to the GZ. Will have to remember this place during summer as it'll be a great spot to have lunch and avoid the crowds. A quick scratch around and the cache was found, to my relief, and a quick sign and replace before jogging back up the track. Thanks for the placement.

First find on day three of our stay at Kuaotunu - bit lazy came fro m the top as we are of to see how far the road will take us. Thanks. Geocaching.com lists two collectables but none there, wish people would not just take and not record. We have "lost" two in Europe. Thanks for bringing us to many spots around here.
Wow was worth the haul in here, after lunch seemed like forever but done think it took that look, but was very hot walking in here. Surprised to see a barbecue table in here though, got some lovely pictures from here. TFTC, moving on geocoin, been sitting here nearly a month.
Parked the campervan for a late breakfast.....or was it more a lunch. After the match New Zealand-South Africa we were still a bit in a happy, but tired mood. So we went for a short walk.
To find out that it was a bit steeper then expected. One half of us did like the bench half way and waited for the other one to return from finding the cache.
Left Akl. Mega coin

Good day to do this one as its drizzling so no muggles around. Great day out with Pinocchio59.
Enjoyed the run/walk along this track - great spot for a view and earns a favourite from me! Doesn't take long but is really worth it, TFTC
Bellbox was keen to join me for a walk to this one. Even with bare feet! Awesome views, and nice birdsong. Thanks for inspiring to come here! Tftc
Got asked to go to find a cache with mum, jumped at the chance. Was a lovely walk. Liked the view.tftc.
We approached from the bottom to do the whole thing, path is ridiculously overgrown! Cuts all down our legs but the view of the sunset from this beautiful spot made it all worth it! Tftc
Drove up the hill but co-ords didn't seem to work, so drove back down the hill, co-ords still didn't seem to work. Read the description..... .duh. ..... now we get it. Decided to attack from the top so drove back up the hill, parked and found the little track. Mrs S wasn't keen on going there so Mr S trotted off down, made the find and was soon back at the Geomobile. He said it wasn't too hard apart from all the stairs.
Thanks Darby&Joan, nearly all smilies around Coromandel now. Just a few left up the very top and we plan on doing those this trip.
PS: There are NO TB's in the cache.

Hi does this cache still have KingSportS butterfly slug travel bug in it. It says it does but it hasn't been moved on for ages so not sure if it is still there or lost. Any hints please, thanks Miranda
We came down from the road, and along the rather overgrown track, to a quick easy find. TFTC
We when up the road and found the track. After finding the cutty grass and a batch of 67 steps the view
was stunning, thanks for another great cache
was stunning, thanks for another great cache
Came here while exploring in the area this afternoon, a great little walk with excellent views. Beware of the sharp toetoe and hook grasses along the track, it might be best to ensure your legs and arms are protected. A quick find - signed log, TFTC
Now this is a really good place. We came down from above. Great view. Hidden little special spot. TFTC
During our visit in beautiful New Zealand, we have naturally sought some caches. There were many memorable impressions on our trip and showed us some caches the New Zealand off the beaten path. You have a wonderful country! We thank all Ownern for the cache and send best regards from Denmark, Thyde2
Lovely walk down a very overgrown track from the top. Beautiful view from spot. Easy to find.
After going past this location a few times in the past couple of days while camping at Otama, I got the opportunity to pull over and shoot down the hill. Parked at the picnic area just up the road and walked back to the track entrance. Nice little bush walk down to GZ which finished in a beautiful secluded little spot for a picnic. Really enjoyed this cache. TFTC
After a thunderstorm overnight today dawned gorgeous, so stunning views from here today. No TB in cache.
Nice view. Careful on the track tho lots of curry grass needs pruning. My first time actually finding it tftc
Good walk down to cache - track very overgrown and view best from standing on top of picnic table

11.45am. We walked in from the bottom. Good hot walk but track could do with some pruning. Quick find at the end. Favourite from us for the walk.
Thank you. David and Noeline.
Thank you. David and Noeline.
We found the track but it doesn't look like it was used much - the walk was longer than we were expecting but we took advance of the rest stops to wait for a bus - funny there is no bus service in the bush - so there was nothing for it but to leg it to the cache and return. No trackables t4tc
Called by to check today. Removed old/lost cache. Dried out cache, replaced silica and bag. Added some new swag. All good to go.
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
Spent the weekend in Whitianga and on Saturday we drove up to Matarangi exploring some new areas and picking up caches along the way. We made a nice quick find at the published co-ordinates after taking in the view. On the way back up to the car we happened to spot another container that looked suspicious, so we opened it up to find another cache! Not sure which is the correct one as the 2nd container seemed to match the description - but we have signed both logs for good measure! Thanks for the caches!
