Weekend:We set off on a great adventure with the whole family: one night in Mt. Arthur hut and one night in the Lower Gridiron Rock Shelter. So cool to be able to do these hikes with all the kids and enjoy the outdoors together. Very low visibility on Saturday but great weather on Sunday, we really enjoyed being out here in the mountains!Cache:Great spot where you can realise for the first time how high up you already are. Thanks for the nice hide here, tftc!
Cache was found reasonably quickly. The note book is really wet and can't be used. We signed on the back and sadly we didn't have any replacement paper on us. TFTC

The view was completely obscured by clouds. The container had some water, the logbook was soaking wet, we couldn't open it and write in. Nice loop, thanks for taking us here.

SJT_NZ and I are heading off for an overnight tramp on the Tableland Circuit, a quick find and all in very good condition. Thanks liquorboy09 for placing the cache.
Completed with Tregearp whilst on a two day tramp over Mt Arthur and on to over night at Salisbury Lodge. A great day to be in the bush - a small amount of scattered cloud and a gentle Southerly that kept temperatures in the high teens - but perfect when carrying a pack.
A quick find with all in good order. Thanks liquorboy09 for the cache.

Out for my 3 weekly Wednesday walk in Kahurangi National Park. Today's trip was into Clouston's Mine, Gordon's Pyramid and out via the Mt Arthur track. Quite windy today but clear weather.
This was the fifth for today and a welcome spot to drop the pack after the trip from Gordon's. A easy find, tucked away and covered from the elements. Cache in pristine condition so all good here.

Dnf. It is sometimes a little bit complicated with muggle friend when you do not disturb your trip so much ...
My sister is in town, so we decided to go for a walk. This is one of her favourite routes from childhood. Amazing how popular this walk is, considering how narly the access road is. Good cool tramping weather, but the top was clouded in, was very cold, and there was ice shards in the wind. And naturally, when we turned back, the sun came out. Still cloudy up top though. Best part was a flock of nine kea who came over to check us out! Worst part was not finding one cache, and walking straight past another without realising it!
Quick stop and admire the view.

After staying one night in Gridiron but, today we went to MtArthur hut where I solved the multi. I went for a quick walk to find it but only made it until this cache and then decided to leave the other one for tomorrow when we head back to the carpark.
All good here. Now back to the hut and a warm meal

Found on Saturday. This walk to Mt Arthur hit is fantastic with a great view from here. Thanks.
With Judithn.very pretty spot in the snow. Fortunately the cache remained uncovered by the snow.
TFTC! Slept in Mt. Arthurs Hut for a night and went up to the summit...what an awesome environment to spend time in! This view was awesome!
After the few muggles left we found it pretty fast...

We walked up mount Arthur today with cousins & aunts visiting from the U.K. Everyone stopped here for the viewpoint anyway, so it was only a quick grab to get the geocache. Find #373
We found this on our way back to the carpark, it was a very busy day on the track today bur luckily nobody came past while we found and signed this one. Thanks liquorboy09 for the cache
**Found on an overnight round trip from Flora Car Park, with Mum and Dad, staying at Salisbury Lodge. **
Quick find. The nice track since the hut has been much appreciated compared to what we've encountered today. Motoring along - be home in no time at this rate - looking forward to a beer! TFTC (3676)

On Wed 14th the brand new Oregon 700 crashed (for the second time these holidays) and lost all caches from the Nelson PQ. So visited the Richmond Library to note down the coordinates and details for a handful of essential Nelson caches... this was one of them.
Today seemed the best day to attempt Mt Arthur , although as it turned out the best day would have been the day we left for home. A real motorway up here now. Paused to get the cache and the view.

There was snow on the terrain today which made it a bit harder to crawl around. Awesome view from up there! Really had fun with this one. No TB found in the cache though. Tftc!
Found on our way down from Mt Arthur.
would have been a great view but for lkw cloud today and skme snow underfoot. Will be back again. TFTC.

Limited view today because of cloud, snow under foot, still a lovely walk. TFTC
If this is the view from here I'm looking forward to the view from the top TFTC
Great place for a seat shame there isn't one. Log not signed because I was quite wet after an afternoon in the rain. TFTC
Had to wait for a large group of muggles to stop admiring the view, but all good after that.
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
Indeed worth coming up here. At this point the sky was still clear and we could actually see the valley other than later on the summit
Found on our day up in the hills cache was out in the open so replaced under cover TFTC
Had a look while the others refreshed at the hut but no luck for me. Our plan to tramp up Mt Arthur and over Gordons Pyramid.
Near the end of a lovely day up to the peak. Resorted to the clue as tiredness was setting in! Found with nickgastrell. TFTC.
Stopped here on the way to the top of Mt Arthur in perfect weather. Found the grave first and then the cache, Signed log, TFTC.
No clouds, no fog... for a last few hours and after that only hard raining and freezing cold all the way from Mt. Arthur:( TFTC!
Third find for the day on a walk in the area. We left Nelson too late to aim for the top today, but enjoyed the walk part way. Nice views here today although we could see the clouds moving in. Now onwards and upwards. Thanks.
Had a really neat walk up this track today. Our view was not the one the cache was named for, but pretty special none-the-less. TVMFTC
took longer than it should have. found cache easier when i actually turned torch on. tftc
Just in case you think I wasn't interested in finding any caches today, I did manage to find this one! Not much of a view yet, but weather was improving and sun was breaking through from above. Nice spot - I suspect the views are spectacular if I pick a better day. TFTC
could write a page about this spot, lets just say, very familiar with it !good cache.
Unfortunatly the view was poor..... mostly as it had been dark for an hour or so. A difficult find in the dark and snow - cache was frozen shut!
Well on the way to the Mt Arthur Hut. I had a good idea where this one would be. However, we also encountered Syd before finding the cache. TFTC, Biggles.
No view today drizzle most of the way up and low cloud. Cache found and logged before continuing up. TFTC.
The GPS was still wandering. First place we looked turned out to be a grave !!!!! There was a plaque under some rocks remembering a Syd Jenkins. [xx(]
Moving right along we looked at the next likely spot and there it was.
Was a good view and the last spot before we hit the wind.
Picked up coin.

A second FTF in one day unheard of for me!!! One cache lead us to another and another today telling ourselves well we have come this far we may as well go up to the Hut (which we did ) but only after looking at the spectacular views on a fine sunny day - photos of course were taken !!!! thanks for leading us on up the hill (I think !!!! signed log a great place for a cache
Great spot and in just the place we were going to take a break, we are far further up the mountain than we intended today. Took in the view and took a few pictures signed log and carried on heading up the hill. MMMMM thought we were going down ok nevermind lol.
Good work on the cache placement .
