Being a hockey player for Port City and coming here to play train as often as I do...I never realised it was here! I barely had a chamce to search and hubby found it! Love the location though, fantastic spot to watch a game or two
Hi there lightsaberlodge. We found your cache "Port Macquarie sporting challenge #2" at 10:23:00 AM today,. This cache makes our find count 9930.
[Blue]
We are trying to log at least one cache every day, so we can add to our streak of "Most Consecutive Days Cached", which we started on New Years Day 2014. Our route today took us to and past some really wonderful & scenic locations.
We had a ball looking for this cache.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 9m South from where the GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: Container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Found at 0832 while on a geocaching trip in the Port Macquarie area. A quick find now that the ground is clear.
Teamdfl and I are heading south to the Port Macquarie region for a 4 day week-end of caching.
Today was day for caching. My aim is to find 25 different caches which have different Terrain / Difficulty ratings. [^]
I believe I have made it but there are a couple of challenge caches included in the list.
I did find a couple of 'spares' just in case.
A quick find here.
Thanks for the cache.

Down from Brisbane for an extra long weekend to try and complete some challenge caches.
Day two of the trip and today was all about Brother Colin. He is attempting to find 25 caches with different D/T combinations. I am just along to steer the geomobile
We spent way too long looking for this one too. There was a game of cricket in progress, but on the field behind the clubhouse, so we had GZ to ourselves.
Brother Colin eventually located the nice container.

This cache was very close to the Port Macquarie eistedford that was held at the high school across the road. Being a Thursday, the place was deserted and we found the cache easily. A clever hide.
Arriving at gz we were concerned as there was a hockey game on & lots of muggles nearby but gave it a go anyway, glad we did as we were able to make a quick find without arousing suspicion.

Grabbed this one on our way to the Koala Hospital this afternoon. No hockey being played here today. SL TFTC
We visited this one some time ago and were unable to find the cache. This time we were successful. Thanks lightsaberlodge
Found on way home from dropping kids off to their mum at Buladelah.
Love the container - Very innovative

I was out today trying to grab this one before a big tropical storm hit. I thought I was going to give up, but a recheck came up trumps, as the big spots of rain started to pound me. Wet but happy. Thanks lightsaberlodge.
We couldnt find it after looking for about 2 hours also considering the last time it was found was 4 months ago I think it might be missing or
Found by Ray and Maya at 10:20AM. Our second try because of working muggles. Log was very wet.TFTC The Nomads
Whoever was responsible for this was off their game! Took a while, thought "it won't be in there" but it was. TFTC lightsaberlodge.
In Port Macquarie for a couple of hours whilst my partner was at a meeting. So brought my MTB with me and went for a ride to look for some caches. Nice one
This one took me a little while too, but I got there - in the first place that I looked - but not the first time.
Found on second attempt (In the hands of some local Geocachers)... Thanks for doing the hard work.
Feeling very incompetent for not finding this one after so many found logs below, even having a good idea of what I was looking for. In the end though, simply ran out of time and energy. Will have to try again another day.
Two days in Port with the car in the workshop so doing a few of the local caches. Easy find. Thanks lightsaberlodge
Oh what an unlucky cache this has been. It was third time lucky today. I reckon I know every square inch of this area including behind the hockey posts. I bring along a person from Port on her third geocache today, and I had that sinking feeling that I wasn't going to find. She worked like a terror trying to find it. In the end, it was were the co-ords were pointing, and we just didn't go in hard enough. It was great to cross this off the list and I love the camo for the cache container. Love the series. Hope to finish the rest when we come up during the next school holidays. Cheers.
After a decent search we had this clever cih. Found on a caching day with Jamie2750 while visiting from Sydney. TFTC
Had a quick look in the dark, but after a few bites from the plants, we thought we would move on.
Took a little time in the dark as the gps seemed to be having as much trouble as we were. In the end we used commonsense and soon located the cache. TFTC
As it was dark by the time we got to this cache we spent longer then was probably required to find it (even having already guessed the container)
In any case was soon logged and returned. Like previous posts have said log paper is wet and needs replacement.

1100 GAFF1 As previously mentioned the log was WET, too wet to do anything with then, so placed a scrap of paper in there. The next day I brought some with me, but forgot to drop by.
TFTC lightsaberlodge.
(The pieces of paper of the log have now dried out, will bring them along.)

No players here today, so it was a very quick find.
Unfortunately, the log book is soaked - it will need a replacement.
Another nice camo job.
Thanks, Robmc.

There are workers at this field today, looks like they are laying new turf.
Another easy find & on to the next one.

3rd times the charm. 1st attempt was in the dark with no torch and it was raining, 2nd time there were 2 muggles parked 2 meters from GZ but today the cache didn't stand a chance. TFTC x]

Must have slipped my eyes over this one many times, but not noticed it. After 10minutes the very cool cache was in hand. TFTC.
Quick-fire double! Loved this cache hide; it was very cleverly done...another damp cache log though, LSL...?

13:00 LSL's sporting series alway provide a chuckle. This one too. BTW, the log paper was absolutely sodden and would not take my pencil mark. TFTC
Pretty easy find on the longweekend while staying at a friends house. Cache log was wet but i could still sign log. TFTC
Found at 4.20pm. After such a rainy weekend it was nice to see the sun again this afternoon. Nice cache container - but the log itself was quite damp. TFTC

Reperio at 2130. Another sporting challenge cache visited tonight, and this one was probably my favourite out of the bunch. Didn't take too long to find as the torchlight really lit it up.
Gratias.

After a horrible windy wet day - we decided to head out into the elements on dusk to try our hand at a cache or two. Found this by the use of car headlight. TFTC.
Its a pretty good looking hockey field this one. The last time I played hockey was in year 12 when a few of our Rugby team decided to challenge the girls "firsts" hockey team to a match. Let me tell you now that hockey is by far a more dangerous sport than rugby!! By the time the girls had finished thrashing us we had bruised shins and a form of shell shock from constantly dodging hockey balls flying at our heads, never played the game again, I'm not tough enough!! I soon found the cache on the safe side of the fence and was on my way. Thanks for the cache lightsaberlodge.
Found this one on a weekend of caching around the Port Macquarie area – an area we love. We had done a few in this series this morning so were fairly sure we knew what to look for. We parked close by and only needed a quick search before we had yet another clever cache container in our hands. TNLNSL TFTC
