16-Nov-24
Down from Whangarei in Christchurch for a few days visiting family and meeting our first grand daughter. Whilst the other half took the credit card for another walk, I decided to pick up a few local caches, even though the weather was decidedly chilly this morning.Solved this one ages ago, so it needed to be found. A nice quick find once at GZ, but the log is full. Squeezed a signature on the edge, but could definitely do witha replacement log. TFTC

Log is full.

24-Oct-24
A last minute decision to visit New Zealand for the Mega before we headed off to the UK. A quick find at GZ. With the cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache chip.n.dale.The following TBs came through for the mileage: Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust), Vanlith The Youngling, Hidden Creatures Geocoin TB, teamMerlin's Football, LA Monkey

An enjoyable puzzle and a quick find signed on the edge all good at the cache cheers

11-Oct-24
An enjoyable and not too difficult solve if I remember correctly. I enjoy logic puzzles. I found this one a while ago but didn't sign the log, I had been unsuccessful on a previous visit (although it's really not that hard!) so wanted to make sure I knew where it was ready for a dot day. This month I'm working on the monthly mystery challenge and was over this way so decided to make the find. Nice to be able to go straight to the right spot. Thanks for the puzzle and cache!

09-Sep-24
Was back in the area this afternoon so made sure to grab a couple of caches along here, added a little bit of natural camo before I left, TFTC

08-Sep-24
I think I solved this years ago but never got round to finding it. Lost the solution and resolved recently. Came into the city today for a few bits and pieces and found a few caches while I was out and about. This was the first one I came to. Found in about the third spot I checked. TFTC, Biggles.

31-Aug-24
Finally! Solved this puzzle years ago with my son, who was into this sort of puzzles. Then it took months before we had an opportunity to go and find it, without success.Today the area had changed and all the undergrowth has gone. It was a quick find. Yay!

09-Jul-24
Worked this out before heading out for a day of caching TFTC visiting from Akld

Good to finally find this one after solving it a while ago. Thanks for the cache

Solved this puzzle from home a few weeks ago, knowing we were coming down this way soon. A nice easy find at GZ, but the log is full, the container is different to the description, and the logs didn't appear to be from the last few years... Signed regardless, hopefully all is good here! Love a good nonogram, TFTC!

26-Jan-24
I love these types of puzzle and, even though it was somewhat easier than others I have done, I had it near the top of the list of those caches I wanted to find while I was in Christchurch. There were no problems with finding the cache - it was in the only place that I needed to check.

25-Nov-23
After the terrible weather yesterday we were pleased to see a little sun today.Day six of my trip away in Christchurch with tmann42 hunting caches.Signed all logs tm/ww NZThank you for the placement and the time spent making the caches ready for us to find.

Found with WiscoBryo and kozjah.

This is my first puzzle of this type and I really enjoyed it! I look forward to doing more.

I found it on the other side of the path from the coordinates I calculated. It was buried under a bit of mulch. Still in great shape.

29-Aug-22
After no search progress had a read of the previous logs and found a hint. Evidence of searching at the calculated coordinates but the cache is hidden a few metres away; TFTC

15-Jan-22
Must have completed the puzzle ages ago, as I had long forgotten about it. The hunts seemed to match the location, so checked around and found in the 4th spot I looked. Find #739

11-Jan-22
Lots of evidence of previous searches, but no cache for me.

15-Nov-21
When I arrived I realised that I had been here before and couldn't find the cache. I had meant to rework the puzzle but hadn't - searched all hint items again today within a 10m radius but not as thoroughly as last time.

15-Jul-21
Solved this ages ago and I detoured on my way home from Burwood Hospital to quickly find the cache

I love nonograms!
I digress. Actually we digress, away from the plan to collect geotour caches, aay from the aborted plan to collect lab caches, to my new plan to at least get my calendar projects ticking along. Today is easy a cache, any cache, for a streak: done; and a puzzle cache for the puzzle cache dot day. I have loads of solved puzzles in Christchurch, so I picked this one as it is mostly in line with where we are going. Like others, the dragon and I found the cache on the other side of the path.

This weekend started as a simple trip from Wellington to Blenheim for some cache maintenance. Taybeedragon loaned me the use of her car, so I could fit in time to visit Kaikoura for some lab caches. But its a three day weekend, so she suggested Christchurch. And while we were in Christchurch, finding lab caches, we stumbled on a TMGT cache and changed the focus of the trip immediatly!

The Seagnoid needed a puzzle c ache today and had some solved. So this is the one chosen for today. Quick snag and tag here. Cheers.
Thanks TS for your puzzle solving prowess..

The Seagnoid is down for some cache maintenance but lots of xtra time to wander. I need some caches for my technology Souvineer, with Christchurch our agreed destination for a couple of days. Arrived late Friday night with Toby and Zara. Sunday starts out drizzly and cool but we managed to stay dry while exploring.

07-Apr-21
I really enjoyed this cache, I quickly understood how to do it, which is great, and then had to take the time to solve. thanks for this uzzle. Today, before going to school we stopped at GZ, after a little unsuccessful search, I started reading the logs, to find out it was on the other side of the path the GPS was pointing too. We didn't see any knife, which was good. Container and logbook are all good and dry. As we were late this morning, we forgot to take a pen, so I attached the logbook picture as a proof. I hope CO is OK with that. Thanks, again!

Very interesting solve, and one I'm sure to come across again! Found today with coconuts3. TFTC and the puzzle. Cool

Out today with busy paws to find a couple of solved puzzle caches. This was an interesting puzzle that took me a few goes and then clicked eerr. Happy to come and find you today. Thanks for the puzzle and cache chip.n.dale.

Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.

07-Oct-20
With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...

There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some beforehand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!

1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...

Apologies for some very late logging... We are down to our last few hours in Christchurch, so let's squeeze a little bit more fun out of this adventure. We opted for another visit through the Red Zone... Another clever puzzle to have a crack at. With no checker, we were a bit apprehensive about approaching the final. Thankfully, things must have worked out, and another cache to visit en route to our destination. Thanks chip.n.dale. TFTP and TFTC.

After puzzle solving in the Canterbury region along with EyeSpyBen we were invited to join Fap (from Fap & Gap) and Squirrel Nutcase to a week long caching adventure in the Canterbury area. With flights and accommodation booked were off, all met up in ChCh. and many hard dusty Kms travelled and many caches found, I think the Squirrel has said it all in his brief. Many thanks for the placements and Cos for bringin us to the very pleasant areas we travelled in to your region

Well I wouldn't say it was close to the footpath now, but the logs are just so valuable and enabled us to zero in. Looks as though the place has just been re -mulched, but the cache was untouched. And it is all warm and dry!!! Thank you. We enjoyed the puzzle.

15-Aug-20
We came here a week ago, with the final coordinates, but not having downloaded the GPX file. We were unlucky then since the coordinates are way off, on the wrong side of the path. This time we came back, with the benefit of the past logs. Going to the south side of the path, we soon found the knife in the ground, and knew which tree to hunt at the base of. The cache was quickly found. TFTC!

08-Aug-20
Thanks to a previous log we had an easy find. We should have looked there last time. TFTC

02-Aug-20
This puzzle was solved at home and as we were in the area today trying to find our target cache for the day, once we had done that we wandered around the red zone to see if we could find a few more caches.
This was our first time walking around the red zone, and we were surprised at how emotional is was. So many people lost so much.
Then we headed for this one, my phone wanted us to search on the other side of the path. GK found a large knife in the area, which was handy for poking around in the undergrowth. Once he found the cache he embedded the knife into the ground near but not right at GZ. If you find the knife you are close. He thought that it would be less likely to be found there than where he found it. Scary to think people are wandering around with knives of this size (actually any size knife freaks me)
We signed the log and returned it as he found it.
Thank you for the cache and thank you for the smiley

This cache hasnt seen the light of day for a couple of years and I probably wouldnt have found it either without a stick to prod. It was well buried in leaf litter. Dry inside but slimy on the outside from rotting vegetation. Pleased to have solved the puzzle and made the find today in the rain. Thank you!

### In Christchurch for Queens Birthday weekend, time to find a few caches.Second time here. Thanks chip.n.dale for this puzzle cache.

08-Feb-18
We already solved a similar puzzle a while ago. So we knew already what to do. It didn't take long and we had the final coords on paper.
After shopping we stopped at GZ. We couldn't find the cache. After reading previous logs we extended our search radius and finally found it.
Thanks for showing! Tftc

25-Nov-17
I have completed a few of these puzzles before, and enjoyed this one as much as I did those. It didn't take too long to have a good set of coordinates.
LadySim and I rocked up to GZ and had a forage around. A lot of work by someone meant the cache was not found straight away. As we were about to give up, LadySim spotted the cache in the pile of raked up plant debris. We think that whoever did the cleanup/cutback has raked the cache without spotting it. As what we assume was the original hide was no longer appropriate, we took the liberty of placing it on the other side of the path in a very suitable home for the clue, and as the coords had us in the middle of the path, we think there is no need to change them either! Thanks for the cache and puzzle. We hope you approve of our new placement, and the reasoning behind it.

I’ve come across the ditch from to “tramp” (a new word for me) the Routeburn Track and see some of this beautiful South Island of New Zealand .

This is a nice little Lane way. We came across a couple of macadamia nut trees . I grew up with a macadamia nut tree in the back yard and I’ve never seen so many nuts

Oh, I liked doing these puzzles when I was a kid. I think they were called "Japanese puzzles" in the little crossword magazine thingies back home in Latvia.
"Nonograms" would be the correct term, I guess.

Anyway, solved the puzzle easily some time ago already but finally got around to getting the cache itself as well. all good here.

The puzzle wasn't too bad, as we have done one before, and the cache was a quick easy find. We found it hard to believe the number of road works areas we passed in the just under 3 km we drove from our motel to this cache. TFTC

25-Mar-16
Found on my 3rd attempt. Solved the puzzle (took me a while, I'm not good at these ones). First 2 times I searched I kept getting disturbed by teenaged muggles walking home from school. Left it for a non-school day, found easily enough but my workings must have been slightly off, I had it on the other side of the path.

After solving this puzzle back home in Oz before we left for the mega it was nice to get a smilie for it when on the way to do the Godley Head Mega Walk, where it was quickly found in a very pretty cherry blossomed lined walkway.
Thanks for the puzzle and the cache chip.n.dale.

26-Oct-15
This was my last day of caching in Christchurch, before heading back to Canberra early on Tue morning. The day was split into 2 separate sections. In the morning urch & I headed south to Godley Head to participate in the Monday Mega Walk led by Hinemoana & we managed to find a couple of early caches on the way there. This one was in a lovely little walkway, with the trees blooming beautifully in the early sunlight. Found the cache quickly and easily and were on our way again. TFTC - and the blossoms.

Well I have to admit it took a long time (and the purchase of a certain helpful book) to come up with a solution to this one. Smile I then left it for a day I needed a quick find to maintain my streak... that would be today. Lucky it was a nice quick find.
TFTC Cool

16-Apr-15
We had driven around in all directions trying to get to the area of three other puzzle caches. The frequent detours had us looking at the area in more detail than we wanted but it was a sobering reminder that things are a work in progress in the East. We were also detoured away from this cache - but ignoring autorouting and using common sense we were able to get a park 50m away. Then a wlak to GZ - and Sobad made the find while Mrs was checking the size.
The puzzle was solved a long time ago - but had been enjoyed so kept in the system in case. Today proved that a good move.
Thanks.

Last summer the idea was born to visit [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green], together with [url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] Razz
After some important decisions regarding the beginning of our trip, the flights, the general route and the car were made, the most important question was still unanswered: which caches can we visit during our tour [?]
To get an answer for this topic I was fetching almost every cache from both islands Red Face[8)][:X]
[url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] and I love [Teal]'Geo-Arts'[/Teal]...so we added all these cache series to our wish list Cool
After this decision was made this list was more than 300 puzzle caches long...unsolved puzzle caches Surprised
Two weeks before Christmas it was getting time to start solving all these mystery caches Wink
Even with the different language I could find almost every solution Cool
In the case I was not so successful I was contacting some of the CO's...and was always getting help from them...many thanks for this support [:X]

During the following weeks our cache list was growing and growing...meanwhile more than 1000 caches long...too long for a simple bookmark list from GC Sad
Time to get our route and caches in sync...time to save the PQ's to our Garmins...time to start this holiday:

Chapter 1: [red]Christchurch [/red]
After a really long flight we finally arrived at Christchurch airport at 6am...picking up our rental car Wink
Then my first trauma: not only the steering wheel was at the wrong side, also only wrong-way driver on the road SurprisedSurprisedSurprised
Nevertheless we could find a lot of interesting caches during this day...without getting in touch with other cars Big Grin

This cache was one them Cool
Because I love logical caches it was really fun for me to see the result in front of my eyes
With the given hint we could find the cache immediately Big GrinSmileBig Grin

I would like to thank all owners of the caches I've found for their effort and for showing me these interesting spots,

I had looked at this puzzle previous and believed that I could solve it as I quite like FILL-INS but didnt know where to start so threw it on my watchlist and then forgot about it. Then it was recently found and when I was notify I opened it up and suddenly knew what to do. (there is a FB game that is quite similar to this - so that probably gave me the start I needed) It was quickly solved and even though there was no geochecker GE looked good and I felt confident enough to put it on the list for this trip. Tonight we were in the area doing some night caching with furpurse and were pleasantly surprised with a quick find. Sometimes you just have to look at a puzzle with fresh eyes. Another puzzle bites the dust. Thanks for the cache Smile [purple]Our cache find: #2990[/purple] | [green]Cache of the Day: 10/10[/green] | [blue]Cache of our trip: 10/20[/blue]

Solved this one a while ago. One day while I was home in bed recovering from a cold.

Close to work, so wasn't in a rush to find, as I have to be careful being on this streak.

Decided though that today was the day. Stayed late at work, and then I had a soccer game after. Rain was pouring, I was cycling, this was a good option.

Took a while to find, as I think the cloud cover made the GPS un cooperative. When I did eventually find it, coords had me about 13m out!! Darn rain...

Signed log, and headed over to our game Smile

Consec caching day # 506

I found the puzzle pretty straightforward and enjoyed solving it. The cache was lying exposed on the ground so I rehid nearby as per hint. It was in pretty good condition, just a little bit damp inside. Thanks for the fun puzzle and cache.

Today we are on a mission. When I was preparing a day's geocaching in ChCh I found the Z-A Zalphabet Puzzle Challenge and found that we were only 10 puzzles short of finishing the challenge. So that is what we are doing today. This is the tenth and last of them and that's C ticked off and the challenge completed. Easy find despite all the closed roads and loved the puzzle.

I know how to do these. When I was living in London I bought books of them. They were called Hanji and you could get all sorts of difficulty levels. I was hoping to put a cache around here but had proximity issues with this one. So sat in the car and solved it. Ironically I was wanting to put mine in the hole in the fence right by the cache. Less than 1m away! Nuts. Now off to relocate my cache. Tftc.

I didn't even know where to start, and she solved it within 10minutes (or so she says) Got home from work, and she had already worked out the co-ordinates, and we went out to get it. Found the cache at the first location we looked. Thanks for the cache.

Solved this puzzle when it was first published - really enjoyed it. First time we have been on this side of town since Sept 10, so we took the opportunity to visit some old haunts - the first house I owned is in Keller St so it was quite distressing to see how badly the street fared.
Nice puzzle and an easy find, TFTC.

I originally was going to get it after Getting Back on Track event on leap day so it has sat there a while waiting. I kept forgetting to take the co-ordinates with me when I was in the city but today, thankfully I had my book with me. A nice wee stroll and cache quickly spotted. Log was dry and so was the inside of the cache. TFTC

Puzzle proved to be easier than I originally thought once I'd started solving it. Easy find spot on coordinates.

Been waiting for a while til we were close by. I never knew this pathway was here. Fun little puzzle that was easier when being logical than when just guessing. TFTC.

We were needing a quickie tonight. Choco solved the nice puzzle weeks ago and we saved the cache for an after work outing.

Solved a while ago, along with other puzzles. I'm slowly starting to collect them! Thanks for the clever puzzle, and a hide that needed some perserverance.

#828: Neat Puzzle!

Solved this one some time ago. First one I've seen like this! I really enjoyed this puzzle, and may place a similar one far, far away in the future. Went out to GZ today as it was close to a new hide (FTF!), so I thought I'd try to get two for one. Found right where the GPSr pointed me, and no one around. Pretty eerie with all the houses boarded up nearby. Just sad.

A couple of years ago I was given a whole book of these little puzzles so solving this was easy. The cache was quickly found and was in good condition. TFTC ds8300

Checked on the cache today and found it in good condition... unlike some of the houses around here Sad

Looked at lots of trees and think we found the right tree eventually but still didn't find the cache

The cache was really hard to find. We found a place which we were convinced had once hidden the cache. Having looked around all the trees and DNF - nothing for it but to start again from the begining. La vista was the more persistant and we were both relieved to sign this one off having had the solved puzzle in our to find files since the cache was first published. TFTC

Bit sad driving to this area, solved this cute puzzle the night published waiting to come by when next in area, but Feb earthquake put a hold on such ideas. At GZ, tried all likely options so what next? Try again, & guess what? the satisfying klunk of plastic box near where I looked first. Wink 5/7 puzzle caches today
