After a spontaneous sleep over in Palmerston North last night, me, Etherlord and TwigNZ decided to do a spot of caching before I headed home to the Hutt Valley. We were targeting a few recent hides in the area.
We are on our way to complete a multi within the reserve and while the boys have already found Bend #1 and #2, it was a no-brainer that I should leave my name on them both on the way past.
Today is a cold, grey, winters day, but I imagine this spot would be a stunner on a summers day, and a great place to have a picnic and play a spot of cricket.

While planning for a geocaching trip over the next couple of days I see I have found logs in c:geo that haven’t been submitted yet. This is one of them. Easy peasy here. I never would’ve known about this off-leash dog walking area if it weren’t for geocaching bringing me here. TFTC
Out exploring the hills and wind turbines. Got a little stuck so had a look around for some other caches.
Definitely a nice place for a cuppa! Next time I’ll bring a thermos

Junior at swimming so a chance to find a couple of caches. Never been here before so thanks for bringing me here.
Had a couple of hour of daylight after work to find some caches. Have looked at this reserve so often from across the river and finally made it here. Quick find although there was no log in the cache. Signed some replacement paper to keep things going.
Enjoyed some autumn colour about. Thanks for the smiley.

Quick find after failing #2 because of its relocation. Out walking the daughter's dogs at a new place to come to. Dogs enjoyed the riverbank.

Easy find for a dot day. Great little spot that I have never previously been to. Tftc.
It's been quite a caching weekend for me. I was hosting the MGC People's Choice Awards 2018 event here in Palmerston North on Saturday evening, so came up on Friday after work to stay over with friends. They kindly put me up a second night too, which has allowed me to spend today getting out and about to clear up some caches I've not attempted before as part of a very leisurely journey back down south again.
I was just about ready to head for home after a long day caching, but knew I wanted to have a crack at the 2 available along here as it's rare for me to be anywhere near this area. Parking up near GZ, my GPS took me towards an obvious spot for a hide, and I found the cache almost immediately. It's hard to believe that it's been a while since this was last found! It was nice to be able to sit in some comfort to sort out the appropriate caching administration before putting it all back exactly as discovered, and heading off to seek the second one.
Thank you for placing this cache, and bringing me to yet another place I haven't been to before.

As I found a cache on the other side of the river over my lunch break today, I wanted to find this one on my way home. There was something about seeing that it was only a few hundred metres away (across the river) but completely unreachable that made me want to find it by the end of the day (Competitive? Moi?)
I had never been to this reserve before, and enjoyed watching the dogs out for a walk with their owner as I wrested the log out of its tightly packed container. Thank you so much for the waterproof paper; it's nice to be able to sign a log!
Thank you for placing this cache, I look forward to finding #2 another time.

Easy find that perked up our young one to head on to the next one further down the path. Tftc
Out for a stroll and identified this cache as well as some others to hunt down whilst out and about. Very easy and quick find on a gorgeous day with a geocaching newbie. Thanks for the cache!
Struggling to keep my one a day alive to make the ruby badge I desperately whizzed out to this after work and it was quiet. I spotted the likely location from a distance and was duly rewarded when I got there. Nice spot that I never knew existed. TFTC
I was over in the Massey side of town and since I don't often come over this way I decided to grab a few caches. Today was a perfect geocaching day as the rain and the cold would keep most muggles away. Gumboots was definitely the footwear of choice today. Anything less and I wouldn't have been able to get most of the caches.
This was the first cache on my list and was a quick find in the rain. Lots of water on the ground.
Thanks for the cache and the smiley.

Nice to take a break to sign the log here. Glad to be almost back to the car. Another day trip to palmy and surrounding areas to try and clean up all the green dots we still have left on our map. Log signed as b&p.Tftc
Cache #2300 a very cool breeze on this side of the river, didn't long to spot once I had the correct one, spider lost its home, I threw my pen and the log when i spotted it on my hand, after being laughed out I composed myself and carried on. tftc
Quick find with my buddy grand-cacher. Windy but warm enough for a May afternoon. Thanks.
Quick walk down to GZ. A couple of muggles about but they were intent on their own thing to worry about what I was up to. TFTC
Easy find on a lovely quiet morning. Enjoyed the peace while leisurely signing the log, something you don't often get with some finds! Never been on this side of the river so was a nice change. And I got to view the brown house a little closer that I often see from the other side. TFTC & bringing me here.
First find today - these two Fitzroy bend caches have been in the middle of our smilie faces for ages on the map so decided to go across to the other side and tick them off with mini Z today. Quick find at GZ. TFTC
Great location beside the .Manawatu - and no muggles riding past on this side of the river...
Thanks for replacing the cache Chrissy50

Looks like someone has walked with this! Will replace it in the next week or two
Tryed finding this geocache but had no luck because I along with others do believe it was been misplaced or trashed, awesome river reserve to have lunch, walk the dogs, or take the kids to the river.
No joy for me here, either. The short pencil is still there, but no sign of the cache container.
No joy today and I suspect the cache is gone - muggled perhaps? There was a short pencil lying on ground at GZ but no sign of a cache... But I am quite new at this so maybe it was hidden in surrounding long grass? CO or someone might want to confirm it is still there?? Too hot today so I jumped in the river with the dogs after finding FitzroyBend #2 (after barking up 2.5 trees!)
Found with Tommygun9. Beautiful morning walk. Drank my coffee at a table.

Never been to this place before, there is so many parks and reserves in palmy ive never heard of before. TFTC
Straightforward find but was not put back very well by the last cacher so repositioned so it was not quite so conspicuous. TFTC
Found with jgbeau. A nice park and area to run the dog that I didn't know existed. Thanks.
A great beginner cache. I rehid the cache a bit better as it was a little exposed. Too cold and wet to stop but I could imagine on a warm day this would be a great spot.

Nice quick find in the dark with Junior Cacher #1, who spotted it as the torch passed over it. TFTC.

Another mornings caching in PN - east of the river today, mostly involving short walks. Cache easily found. TFTC.

Here for the event, and staying nearby with Edvern. Had a bit of time to fill in, so thought a riverbank walk would be the story. A quick find, now on to the second one. TFTC
Came here this morning while cleaning up caches in the area. Walked from the end of Pinfold Rd and then walked on to find the other cache further along. An instant find - signed log, TFTC!
EtherDad and EnJay took me on a walk along the river and we found this one. Thanks
TFTC, an easy cache, looks better maintained than a few years ago when we used to come here on our bikes.
We used to come to this reserve often, but haven't been there for ages. Easy find. TFTC

We had meant to find these to cache last time we were in the area but ran out of time, so made an extra effort to find these today. It also gave us a chance to let the dogs have a run which they very much appreciated, having been cooped up in the van for most of the day. TFTC

Came back for picnic as night fall approached. Really peaceful place. Thanks for letting us find this place.
Amazed that it hasn't been muggled yet. Cache appears barely hidden. Lovely spot though.
