Quick easy find once we used the co-ords from previous logs. A cache co-ord update is required. TFTC
After a spontaneous sleep over in Palmerston North last night, me, Etherlord and TwigNZ decided to do a spot of caching before I headed home to the Hutt Valley. We were targeting a few recent hides in the area.
We are on our way to complete a multi within the reserve and while the boys have already found Bend #1 and #2, it was a no-brainer that I should leave my name on them both on the way past.
I was lucky I had the boys with me as TwigNZ related to me about the co-ordinates being wrong, and directed me to the approximate location of the cache, where I made quick work of the remainder of the task. Cache is in good order. TFTC

Found it but coordinates need updating for all. Some 200m away from logged coordinates. -40.354283,175.647483

While planning for a geocaching trip over the next couple of days I see I have found logs in c:geo that haven’t been submitted yet. This is one of them. Obviously this tree according to the hint and Twig’s coordinates are close. I never would’ve known about this off-leash dog walking area if it weren’t for geocaching giving a reason to visit. Maggie and I got muggled here by a pack of dogs being exercised by a pro dog walker. All good here. TFTC
A nice area to walk and enjoy. I will have to come back in the summer time.
After a false start with the coordinates and no luck finding a pine tree. I read through previous finds. New coordinates and the cache was soon n hand

Easy find with updated coordinates. Fingers just managing to manoevre cache in the right direction. All signed. Tftc
Had a couple of hour of daylight after work to find some caches. Have looked at this reserve so often from across the river and finally made it here. Well would have been here all week if it wasn’t for TwigNZ’s helpful coordinates. 195m away from the original coordinates. Thanks for the smiley.
Cache needed for my Wonders of the World challenge. TwigNZ's updated coordinates led me straight to it. Tftc.
Quick find by hubby after a nice walk along the river, nice to have smiley instead of the blue dot. We were advised by dog walkers we meet on the way to not park at the end of the road in the carpark, but a little bit before the carpark closer to local residence driveways due to car break ins.
TwigNZ wanted EtherDad's help in finding this one, and I came along for the hike
Finally! I first looked for this cache about 18 months ago, without success. Then I tried again about 10 months ago after it had been relocated, again without success although now I know why!
Having just gone through Level 4 and Level 3 lockdowns as a preventative measure against the spread of Covid-19, this is the first weekend that we have been allowed to have freer movement with the move down to Level 2. So with that I had arranged to have a catch up with good friends in Palmy.
And because it was such a nice Autumn day, I also decided to use my time here to have another crack at this cache, especially as it now had another significance about it. I'm a sucker for looking for caches that have been unfound for over 1000 days, and my find here today marks 1,113 days since it was last found, my 6th such 1000+ days lonely cache.
With me today I had [@Etherlord Clan](http://coord.info/PR5Y6HZ) and kids in tow although his previous find of this cache was long ago when it was in it's former hiding location, so I was still not expecting an easy find. But I was truly glad of his company today as we arrived at the posted co-ordinates as his knowledge of Flora was better than mine and he was able to inform me that all the saplings we were surrounded by were not Pine. So we were mulling over the posted information, and he read out a comment which made me think of something.
As time was not of the essence today, I was able to act on that idea and explore an area well away from the posted co-ordinates, and thanks to the Hint at least being accurate I found the cache almost immediately. I was elated to be able to pull out the logsheet for signing and confirm no other signatures on it before signing it myself and replacing it exactly as found. I suspect that it will be found more often now if people use my co-ordinates;
S 40° 21.257
E 175° 38.849
which is about 195m away from the posted co-ordinates.
So at last I can remove this cache from my DNF list. It's been a bit of a trial to log this cache, but I'm glad that I have it now. Thanks for placing it.

I'm sorry to say I have to log a second DNF for this cache.
I had the unusual situation of having a couple of hours free on a Friday afternoon during daylight hours, and a need to come up to Palmerston North, so in fact had perfect conditions to have another crack at this cache in the hope of being the first to find the re-located cache 8 months after my last attempt.
However, in spite of spending about 45 minutes searching every single pine sapling (of which there were lots!) within a 30m radius of the new published co-ordinates I had to come away empty handed again. Ho hum!

Bummer. Did not find after a 10-minute search through the bushes. GPS not so accurate in the trees.
No joy here today after much looking by hubby and I. Why a micro amongst many trees and in a location with little muggle traffic. Gave up after spending 30 minutes here. But had a pleasant walk alongside the river.
It's been quite a caching weekend for me. I was hosting the MGC People's Choice Awards 2018 event here in Palmerston North on Saturday evening, so came up on Friday after work to stay over with friends. They kindly put me up a second night too, which has allowed me to spend today getting out and about to clear up some caches I've not attempted before as part of a very leisurely journey back down south again.
I was just about ready to head for home after a long day caching, but knew I wanted to have a crack at the 2 available along here as it's rare for me to be anywhere near this area. Having just found the first of these two caches I was in high spirits as I approached GZ, my GPS taking me towards a reasonably obvious spot for a hide. I'm really not sure why this container is a Micro, as there's little chance of it being muggled. This was supposed to only be a D1.5 and I feel that it certainly doesn't match that level of difficulty to place a micro in a tree near to a whole bunch of trees.
An hour later, and in spite of a thorough look around a 20m wide radius from where my GPS had suggested the hide was, and trying to message a previous finder, I had to leave empty handed.

Don't get off the path too early. Trust your bearings and keep your chin up

We realised we had never seen the river from this side of town before! And what better reason to explore a new area than when there is an event on this weekend to celebrate the 3 millionth cache hidden and get a souvenir
This cache took us a while. We searched a wide area but really should have just used the location pin. It was pretty close! Thanks for bringing us out here. We even introduced geocaching to a muggle we brought on the walk with us
Thanks for hiding!

Hubby normally goes Blokarting Saturdays so I planned my day doing other things on the basis we go blokarting tomorrow. However, not enough wind today and so they switch the damn day to tomorrow when the wind will be better. Grrr. Couldn't change my "today" plans but was done by 4pm. As my "tomorrow" plans were buggared hubby agreed we go out late this afternoon for three caches we didn't have over by Massey. This was one of them. I had tried for this before to no avail. Felt more comfortable with hubby in tow as its a bit lonely and remote at this location and a bit of a walk. Within 10 minutes I found it. I could NOT understand how I missed it last time? I could swear it was not there as I was ALL OVER that location last time. Really? It was fantastic to knock this one off. The weather was superb and the gps settled easily and for us the find was within 3m of where the gps said it was. Yay! TFTC.
Really pushed for time but scurried along to this after Fitzroy Bend #1. Very frustrating as the co-ordinates kept moving and there was heaps of possible places and no clue as to what exactly I am looking for. Ran out of time so will have to return which is frustrating as it is a fair way out of town. Bugga.
I was over in the Massey side of town and since I don't often come over this way I decided to grab a few caches. Today was a perfect geocaching day as the rain and the cold would keep most muggles away. Gumboots was definitely the footwear of choice today. Anything less and I wouldn't have been able to get most of the caches.
I made the quick walk over from the other cache and followed a geotrail towards the trees. GPS took a while to settle down and I started looking in all the obvious places. Eventually I widened my search a little and found the cache easily.
Thanks for the cache and the smiley.

Not the most pleasant walk this time of year muddy and slippery. surprised to find a micro out here where a 10 litre pail could easily been hidden. Gps took us to wrong tree but soon found correct spot. Another day trip to palmy and surrounding areas to try and clean up all the green dots we still have left on our map. Log signed as b&p.Tftc
having never been over here it was a pleasnt walk with the dogs, no muggles around which was great.
took a little while to find this one as the gps was telling us its was closer to the other, but once we had spotted it we quickly logged and made out way back to the car, not very muddy at all. tftc

Out for a fun adventure with grand-cacher. Beaten to the find by him! Nice hide. Thanks.
Took a little while as our GPS bouncing round a bit, handy geotrails to follow! TFTC
I enjoyed walking along the track so much that I walked right past GZ. After back tracking & a little grass swishing I got to GZ, checked the terrain rating, looked over to the potential area & saw the cache straight away! I particularly enjoyed the walk back to the car as it gave me time to step back from a hectic week and just enjoy the sunshine, the birds twittering away & the river in the background. And best of all, Master 12months snuggled up to me in his carrier. TFTC & giving me an excuse to get out into nature & relax
Found today on a lovely sunny afternoon; very un-Halloween like! Nice spot by the river.
A nice walk along the other side of the river after Fitzroy bend #1. Took a while to work out which section of the river we were looking at from this side. A bit of a hunt around in the cold wet grass eventually led us to the cache. No prob with the Coords. TFTC
Awesome reserve where the geocache is, nice level grounds but a little overgrown but nothing comes without a challenge, my first geocache find so im pleased I finally found one tftc
I haven't been out this way in years, pre-flood improvement in fact. I had a most enjoyable riverside walk from the gate to the cache; it's so very peaceful out there. Itchy, scratchy about sums up the search - the grass is head-high back there! I wandered from tree to tree until I uncovered the cache. Coordinates were off by 30' which is significant given the final location. Thanks for the hunt!
Nice quick find with Tommygun9. TFTC

Never been to this place before, there is so many parks and reserves in palmy ive never heard of before. TFTC
Co-ordinates seemed a bit out. Nice walk tio GZ in light drizzle. Novel hide type...TFTC
Found with jgbeau. A muddy track to walk today with the recent rain. Quickly spotted once at GZ.
The rain started to fall so I was grateful for a quick find then hurried back to the shelter of the car. I was careful of my footing as it was a bit boggy underfoot today.

Went looking for this one in the dark with a reasonably tight time-frame so set off from the Fitzroy Bend #1 cache at a brisk walk to maximise search time. Needn't have worried in the end as the GPSr took us straight to the GZ and the cache was spotted lying on the ground, obviously displaced from its hiding place. Signed the logbook and Junior Cacher #1 spied the (hopefully) correct location to replace the cache while inspecting the GZ with the torch. TFTC.

Another mornings caching in PN - east of the river today, mostly involving short walks. Cache quickly spotted on arrival at GZ. TFTC.

A very fragrant walk as all the lupins were in flower. Had a bit of trouble identifying the exact hiding spot as our co-ords had us 5 metres away, but it had to be there. TFTC
Walked on to here after find the first of the two Fitzroy Bend caches. Took a few minutes to identify the right search object and then a quick find. Signed log, TFTC!
Didnt realise the reserve was this big, we never went this far when we used to come here TFTC
I was expecting this to be similar to Fitz #1. Pleasant surprise. Chrissy50 - I don't think you are quite aware of just how faxt these trees grow - you need to do some maintenance here...

The dogs had a fantastic run around, even into the river for a moment (much to our disgust). Nice hide on this one, enjoyed the effort that had gone into it. TFTC

Found with squirell and a silly asian (he wont set up a profile but cache with him a fair bit). Using GPS on a "as the crow flies" is not a good idea as I ruined my xmas stockings. I enjoyed this one a lot.
Beautiful day, found with kiwi flyer. We went for a quick paddle in the river after finding this.
Jsyk the geocaching description was extrememly mouldy & the cache was covered in bugs.
I really enjoyed finding this one though. Just a relaxing stroll, with a good friend, in a pretty area on a lovely day...what could b better

Nice walk down the river, never been on this bank before. GPS didnt take me to exactly the right tree...wondered from the clue if this was intentional. Nice effort.
couldn't find anywhere. Got about half way up then the weather packed a sad got drenched looking for it tomorrow
Took the opportunity to use a spare hour or two on a rather chilly Saturday afternoon to make a visit to this hitherto undiscovered spot. Interesting too.
Cache find was straightforward, cache in order but the log was very wet (lucky that it's that great waterproof type paper, no problems!), signed the log and rehidden safely, as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

a bit underfoot today after rain but mostly sandy wet rather than muddy wet.

A bit of a boggy walk in places today, but an easy find once there.
Some rather pretty slugs were hanging out on the cache, including one that was actually inside the plastic bag! (It has a hole.) Will add a picture.

A pleasant walk along the river bank with our granddaughters (5 and 3) on a nice day, and a quick find once we identified the correct hiding object. Our 4900th cache. TFTC
