#5646 Answers submitted. Our first visit to WA as we head further towards the south west. This was a cool feature to visit and learn about to break up a very long drive today. Amazing what there is below our feet. TFTEC Moneybox.
We completed this earth cache on our caravanning trip around Australia. We stopped here as we head east. There have been a few interesting sites along the way. Thanks for placing this earth cache here for us to learn about the area.
Thank you for this great cache. My first in WA!I have read about the blowholes and caves around the Nullabor in one of Arthur Upfield's novels so it's great to see one for myself.
After a happy day of geocaching I hit 1000 finds!Pulled up here at sunset and completed this in the dark. It is more eerie at night, especially the sound.TFTEC!Answers sent
On a big adventure from Canberra to Esperance and back to celebrate a year of good things (Happy Birthday Krispystrips). Today was day 12 of our journey and we continued our meander across the Nullabor covering the stretch from Mundrabilla Roadhouse to Balladonia. Today was a day filled with cave exploration, beautiful birds, strong winds and picturesque landscapes. All happening! There is always so much more to see on these drives than we ever have time to do, but we cram in as much as we can! Grabbed this cache as we travelled along with Krispystrips and GLISS! Thanks for the cache.
Found with Nibletricecakes and KrispyStrips on our Road to Esperance trip. Answers have been sent to CO. Thanks for the science lesson.
Find number 13683 at 11:48:02AM on Tuesday the 27 August 2024We're on our way to WA Goes Big, travelling from Croydon (Melbourne, Victoria) with a caravan in tow and making a leasurely caching holiday across the Nullarbor and back. After spending last night at On Top Of The Ridge free camp at Madura we headed west again in the morning, not sure how far we'll get today (but probably just past Balladonia), just driving, caching and golfing A nice quick answer to the questions in this very interesting location right on the side of the road.**Thanks for placing this cache Moneybox**---*WOW, so much happening here in Victoria*Dont forget to log your will attend for Victorias first ever Block Party in March 2025, the [**The Sunbury Event**](https://coord.info/GCAP417).Theres also all those lists of amazing geocaches at [Geocaching Victorias List webpage]( https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists), go check them out.
It was great to stop at the blowhole and do this earthcache.Timings worked well that heading towards Norseman when a new series of caches were published. We picked up a few the evening before then set up camp. This morning we continued on with a few more *FTF* s on our way into town, fueled, made the phone calls home and head off along the long road east. Plenty of opportunities to stop for caches and juggle the different ALs along the way. Stopped at Mundrabilla for fuel and dinner. Very quiet late at night and a bit of a chat with the local couple working there, amused at our footwear solutions antics. The blowhole along the way, and telegraph station at Eucla were great stops. Crossing into SA and camping on one of the many free camps on the cliff tops overnight. Thanks for your cache.
Great to stop and check this out, who would have even thought these are out here, TFTC
Yesterday I visited an unfenced sinkhole on the Nullarbor Plain. Today, a blowhole! And pretty sure the nearby campers didnt even realise it was here Interesting to read about these unusual geological features and, apparently, there are more scattered about. I was expecting to see some action but there didnt seem to be much happening on my visit. Think Im more familiar with the coastal blowholes that spout water into the air Another pit stop on the long journey west. Caching has made this quite an educational road trip TFTC MB
Blowholes breathe..?? Okay, so I was a little skeptical. I was trying to process this fact as I read the description before we arrived. But they do.. with dirt breath... Earthcaches don't get much easier to access than this. Well worth the stop! TFTC Moneybox, FP.
An interesting stop while heading west across the Nullarbor.I probably wouldn't have come here if it wasn't for Geocaching.Answers sent to the CO.TFTC
So many geocaching highlights (earth caches) as we cross the Nullarbor. Another amazing location. We are so happy the CO showed us this piece of geology. Answers sent to CO. Thanks Moneybox. A FP added. Domsky
Possibly overplayed this one for the kids, they were pretty hyped about seeing a blowhole, and pretty underwhelmed by actually seeing it. I thought it was cool though. Too windy too feel any kind of difference in air today. TFTC
After spending a few days in Gawler it was time for to drive my mums (well my car now) from Gawler back to Perth. This was day three travelling from Border Village to Norseman on a 5 day 3,100km adventure. It was very bleak and cold morning and had rained a lot during the night. The temp did get somewhat better later in the day. There are hundreds of signs saying do not drive tired so geocaching helped with that.I proceeded to the border check and as i was prepared with completed paperwork the fine man was suitably impressed and and it took him about 2mins to check my car and a quick chat and i was on my into WA. The border man said that nobody ever turns up with paperwork which impressed him greatly.I trucked on across the beautiful scenery grabbing caches. This cache was a very quick find. Thanks for the cache moneybox. a couple set up their tent about 2 m from the blowhole....good way to fall in the hole in the middle of the night!!!!
Well this was well worth the stop. Absolutely loved checking this out and gathering our answers. Happy to have this place to ourselves as well. Thanks Moneybox for placing this earthcache here
A fascinating geographical feature! Have seen blowholes in NZ but this one is very different!

Visited this earthcache during three weeks away with e.gregory1 on a trip along WA's Great Central Road and a caching circuit of the WA Goldfields. We travelled North on the Stuart Highway and out to Kings Canyon to Uluru and Kata Tjuta. From there we headed in a south-westerly direction along the Great Central Road with a number of detours along the way, including Surveyor Generals Corner and Empress Spring. Then it was down to Laverton and Leonora before turning South to Menzies and Kalgoorlie. A few days were spent on a circuit back up to Lake Carey and around to Queen Victoria Spring before returning to Kalgoorlie, then out to Coolgardie, Kambalda and Norseman, and heading for home along the Eyre Highway. Today we traveled from west of Norseman to east of Caiguna finding caches along the way. Thanks for the interesting earthcache Moneyboz!
Found it TFT. It was a very cold day and blowing a good W wind stayed the night. Think we might have to visit this one again on a warmer day

Brad and Janet are on another epic journey. This time it involves many of Len Beadell’s 6500km of roads including the Anne Beadell, the Connie Sur, the Heather, the Neale, the Gun Barrel Highway, the Gary, the Talawana Track, the Gary Junction Rd and more.
And of course a 2 day visit to Maralinga which Len also located, surveyed and largely built as he had with Woomera and Emu. An amazing man.
If you don’t know of him he wrote some wonderful books. Laconic with a dry sense of wit, they are an excellent read. They are also available as audiobooks as is a recording of his brilliant after dinner talk one evening in Shepparton. Worth a listen.
And now the Moon Tours trip is over we are heading back to Adelaide via whichever way takes our fancy after a few days rest and repair in Karratha. Almost certainly down the WA Coast before heading to Hyden and the land of the Salmon Gums.

Wow... that was unexpected. Got to enlighten some tourists who didn't think this was a worthwhile stop but were afraid to venture up to the blowhole. After some coaxing they were amazed at the feeling at the entrance. Answers sent. Tftc
TFTEC. What an amazing geological structure. I’m visiting from the Hunter Valley in NSW. When I told my muggle husband we were stopping to look at the blowhole he said he wasn’t going to drive all that way down to the beach to look at a blowhole. I laughed and told him it wasn’t a water blowhole but an air one. He was fascinated with it.
Visited this fantastic spot and amazed by the strength of the blowhole - water has such incredible power.
Thanks Moneybox for bringing me to this wonderful spot and a FP given.

Heading across the nullarbor to visit friends in Esperaance and saw the blowhole oin the map and realised that in the 6 or 7 times we have crossed the area we had not visited this interesting feature. Pulled in with the van behind and parked close by and wandeed over to the blowhole. Read the signs and gathered the required information, recorded it and hen back in the car to continue the journey.
Now camped in Norseman for the night and also with better internet access, sent the answers as required and now logging the find.
Fave for the cache. Made us stop to have a look.

We were here of a night time, while I quickly made dinner after taking photos next to the hole, and not get eat by mozzie who also like the idea of a cold breeze.
Then once dinner was made we were back on the road!
Really interesting location!

Stopped here on our long journey east and found the hole and info boards interesting. Thanks for placing this here.
It was sunset when I reached here and the sun had set. I couldn't go past this though. Fortunately it's very close to the road. I pulled in and looked into the hole, disappointed I couldn't feel any air movement. Anyway, I answered best as I could in this circumstance, and then was on my way again to tonight's accommodation; fortunately booked, as they are full up. TFTC Moneybox.
This is an excellent blowhole. So cool down there and I think I could feel is breathing. We had lunch here while travelling from Newman Rock to Madura Pass Lookout, where we are staying the night.
OMG….. They say that winds across the Nullarbor like this happen once a year. Why, oh why, did it have to be this week
The birds aren’t flying, they are walking…..BACKWARDS! The white posts are that scared of being ripped out the ground they are shaking in pure fear of it happening.
This isn’t Caiguna Blowhole this is Nullarbor Blowby bye bye

Didn't realise there were so many of these around. Beautiful spot for a quick stop.
We are finally able to travel interstate without heaps of loops to jump through. We thought we would take it easy and have a look around South Australia and grab a few more LGA's while we were here.
We camped here overnight but arrived late at night so in the morning I headed over to take a look. Amazing. The wasn't any wind around and it was dead quiet so when you got close your could hear the wind rushing (well maybe not rushing) through
This was find number 1 for the day.

We had planned a trip to Mexico but had to change plans last minute. Friends were travelling to WA for an extended holiday and asked if we would like to join them. It was an easy decision to accept their offer, although 2 wks wasnt long enough for the 1000's of kms we travelled.
We have stopped at Mambray Creek, Penong, Lucky Bay and Pemberton so far.
We stopped here to stretch our legs. We didn't see the blowhole right next to the road and drove too far.
It was extremely windy and wet today. I think the rain clouds followed us across the Nullarbor.

I had spent the night in the campervan quite close to this one, and so this was first cache of the day, fairly early on a cold morning. I think you'll get a much better experience if you time it later on a warm day, but definitely worth a stop and look no matter what the weather.

We travelled from Portland Victoria across to WA to see our daughter in Perth. Now we are slowly heading home via Yallingup, Denmark and Esperance.
After a couple of days of terrible weather in Esperance we tried to wait out the storm and follow it across the Nullabor. We need to do some big miles so not much chance for caching.
We have visited the hole on a previous trip and I have to say it was as inspiring as the stromatolites of Shark Bay with the added bonus that people have obviously been urinating in it. Not so putrid today but that may have been because the air was barely moving at all. Answers are on the way.
Thanks for showing us this part of the world Moneybox

Around 4500k's into our epic 6000k relocation across the country - our last leg across the Nullarbor today, starting at Eucla, westbound.... We missed this spot on our last trip through here, so wanted to be sure to stop here today to check it out - not as big as I'd hoped, but interesting all the same. Today was our third day traveling from Adelaide to Perth, geocaching along the way, and it was another enjoyable day. Having camped in a nice little spot overnight, we woke up to a nice, all be it fogy, morning with the sun slowly rising over the horizon. Once we had eaten our breakfast and packed away our gear, we began our long slog west again. The day past pleasantly with nothing noteworthy happening. Some fun geocaches were found in some interesting spots and a lot of good scenery was observed along the way. A good day of driving and caching was had before we finally called it a day, stopping at Widgiemooltha as some heavy rain began to set in.
