Had a good time bashing my way around Isaacs Ridge in the dark this evening. I was planning to tackle the new Tealby AL, but for some reason my phone wouldn't let me log into the AL app - so I focused on the real world options in the area.Nice quick fidn on my way back to the car.TFTC!

10:10What an adventure - Together with like minded geocachers we gathered at Sheperdson Place, before tackling the steep climbs and the prickles of the 16,600 steps over some 10.2 kms. Along the trail there was a great variety of caches to be found, including this one, some puzzles, multis, traditionals and a wherigo. (Yes we did make it to the Wildbark Experience Event). We signed the logs TT1 and our touring party consisted of Phetlern, FelixII, DisSister, The Morris, pprass, MeAndDe, HansAndLinda, Wollaston, Tealby, Ironford and EP79.Diana ( Tealby) was a wonderful chaperone - patient & understanding. The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we took a hike up, down and around Isaacs Ridge with the puzzling tour, hosted by the lovely Tealby. An enjoyable time in good company, we chatted away as we walked along both on and off trail. The weather was kind to us and the 5 hours seemed to pass quickly. We had some lovely views from several stops along the way as well. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.

13-Oct-22
We arrived back in Canberra yesterday after quite a few years away. It is great to be back to the cool morning air and the beautiful walks that we can find easily along the way.
After heading out to the Green Shed at Mugga Lane, to recycle some of our unpacked boxes, we took a detour and short walk to get out of the house and avoid unpacking more boxes. This was a lovely, all be it wet walk (muddy) to GZ.
A quick find, log signed and then back to the car to continue our journey and the tedious job of unpacking again.
Thanks Sol de Lune!

Out today for a big bike ride. My goal was to complete the Canberra Centennial Trail - Section 7B multi cache. Big ride and actually left at 2 o'clock because we had cousins over so I could only leave when they leave. Well that was a bit of a mistake as this section of the track wasn't exactly easy and ended up taking me about 7 hours. In the end I had to get picked up because it was too dark for me to continue. Got some good caches today while heading down the CCT trail, as well as one that filled a hole in my D/T matrix which is always nice. Great day and thanks to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining their caches so others can find them. TFTC!

A fun fact (maybe relating to this cache): The first road made was called 'The Cumberland Road'!

Before heading to the top of the ridge to complete a stage of Canberra FM AL, I did a quick spot check for a daily traditional and this lucky cache was the nearest.
It also had the bonus of being unfound for over 6 months.
Headed down the road and found the cache sitting comfortably in its place.
Thanks Sol de lune for placing this cache. Cheers.

12 Found out of 12 on the way to (and from the CITO atop Issacs Ridge)

Began around midday heading North, collecting trads and mystery caches alike (predominiately mysteries!) - with the goal to arrive at the CITO at 14:15

Didn't quite happen that way, but that was OK. CO's were later than I was!

Given I had wanted to come back when the ridge was predominately light blues, rather than dark blues, it's been a while since I solved a fair few of the mysteries on my walk

Towards the top, I met up with Toy Hunters, who joined me on the last few along the ridgeline (and a few after)

Arrived at the CITO, had a quick chat, then was on my way again. Making our way down, we spotted a few more cachers, who yelled out how to find one of the caches. Thanks for that!

A solid effort out. I also discovered discovered that my new Garmin watch likes to beep after I'd done enough steps/spent enough time out exercising. It's also interesting that I clocked about 160min of walking in a 4.5hr adventure. That suggests that my time finding caches is far more than I thought

TFTC Sol de lune!

fitzy_1965 and I decided to tackle Isaacs Ridge with weekend. After speading the news, we ended up being joined by FurfacesLL, Rapidlywild & Flintstones.

Although the weather had potential for a lot of rain, it was only drizzling lightly as we started and thankfully didn't get too much heavier for the whole walk.

All of us had different caches to find but signed all logs as MRF^3. We collected all the caches on our list with the exception of one which was a known DNF before we started.

Quick find at GZ. Yay! Exhausted but made it to the end!!!!

15-Aug-20
There have been a large number of puzzles released on Isaacs Ridge over time and as they came out, they were promptly solved and added to the "Solved/Unfound" pile. FFLL reached out and advised there was a group planning a walk along the ridge and asked if I wanted to come along. Yes please Big Grin

It had been organised that one car would be left at the southern end and we would begin our walk at the northern end, this saved any backtracking and worked out really well. Todays walking group consisted of both FFLL ladies, MinnieK, fitzy_1965, Flintstones and myself. As such, we decided to sign the logs as MRF^3 (some logs signed as MRFFF). The forecast was for rain today but luckily for us, it was more of a haze drizzle throughout our walk.

Many solved puzzles to collect up and down the ridge, making a big hiking day for us all. A few of the caches require log replacements as the books are very damp, however we managed to get our scribbles on them. Signed and replaced, thanks for the hide TE Smile Time to head to the car woot woot big day all done Big Grin

I had a 90 minute window today to find some caches,so I thought I'd collect a few puzzles I'd solved at this end of the ridge. I picked this one up first on my way up. There are literally fences everywhere around here. TFTC Sol de lune.

Today was the first day of caching in Canberra on my own, with my travelling buddies Dez (JezNDez) and Lennondayz29 having flown back to Brisbane yesterday. With plenty of caches on my to-do list for today and a couple of seminars at the Mega on my agenda for later in the day, an early start was required to fit it all in.

After spending the morning walking around Callum Brae Nature Reserve and a quick early-afternoon stroll around Isaac's Ridge Nature Reserve I had to cut things short and ducked back to the Mega event to attend a couple of seminars.

After the completion of the meetings, I headed back out here to complete my unfinished business. No idea why this one has not had a visitor in so long. TFTC

Quite enjoyed this location, parked at the suggested waypoint and after finding another traditional over the fence first, I made my way to this cache. Noticed the centenary trail marker, ahh nice that they have included this forgotten section and given it a proper use again! Quite cool to see it repurposed and nice to see that the cache survived it all given it was hidden prior to the trail's opening!

Thanks for the cache Sol de lune, still in great condition after all these years!

Ok ... I had a middle of the day appointment to donate blood (school holidays so not at work Smile and had figured while I was down this way I might see if I could find a heap of caches so I was closer to getting that last hidden creatures souvenir, so ... after donating blood, and staying for my milkshake and coffee, I headed south, stopping at a few caches along the way.
Then I stopped at the end of Mugga Lane for a few more, then decided to park and find a few just a bit further down the road ... by which time it had somehow got dark. Then I decided to grab the others down that road and head down that way, along the highway, to do what I could of some of the trails around Richardson or somewhere that I had originally planned to do, but I saw a spot to park just around the corner as I turned on to the highway, and decided to do a couple of the Tralee trail caches first ... and ended up looking for them all - wandering around in the frost and enjoying myself - lol
Then I decided it was probably time I went home and had some (rather late) dinner, but as I was driving North I decided to make a detour to grab a couple caches I wanted to get up in Watson, and ended up looking for a few there ... ending the evening with not finding one (3rd strike for the day - I guess I am out?) at about Midnight ... then I went home and had a couple of pies for (very late!) dinner Smile
TFTC - Found as it was getting dark...
Phone told me to go through the convenient gaping hole in the fence, so i did. Then it decided I didn't need to.. once I arrived at the actual GZ I spotted the likely spot as i approached, and there was the cache... much quicker than the previous find - lol

The once forgotten road is now a bustling Centenary Trail. There were a few others out and about today but made a quick find no problems. Thanks for the cache.

31-Dec-17
There have been sooo many new puzzles posted recently, all of them in and around Isaacs Ridge, I have made some good progress solving a chunk of them, though of course not all. There were also a bunch of puzzles I have had solved for a very long time in the area as well. So it was that last week I was determined to get through as many of them as possible and mount a caching expedition. Aquilus1 and I headed out before we had all of them solved, but we felt we had enough to make a decent run of it.

This was the twelfth hide we discovered today and not a puzzle, but since we are walking past we may as well. Wow, now that is one hell of a prickly bush that you have hidden this one under, though I found the signing much easier than I had imagined.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache

Not such a warm day but warmer than I'm used to so was a nice cool place to be while retrieving the cache! Just had to mind the thorns on the bush, Canberra sure does have a lot of plants with spikes. Thanks for the cache Sol de Lune.

We headed out with The Woofer today for a quick cache run. The grass was long, the spiders plenty, and it took us longer to get the bindies and grass seeds out of Jazz's fur than the entire walk took!!! One DNF which was frustrating, but left something behind, where possible, in the ones we did find.

Heading back to the car, we were happy to find this one with no problems. Left some goodies. TFTC Sol! Smile

One of the things I am really enjoying about geocaching is the way it gets me to spots that I have driven past, or been near, many times (pretty much every work day for this one) but I didn't know existed. Thanks Sol de lune for this little bit of Canberra interestingness! I left a blue beetle and took Dora. TFTC Smile

More of a forgotten river today. But you did give me the heads-up, thank you. So I wore my trusty long red docs and I managed to navigate through alright. I parked at recommended spot and then a lovely stroll through the river and up the road to find a good cache. Saw an enormous wombat hole on the other side of the fence and a few roos. There are too many memorials along this forgotten road (not forgotten by some, I suspect). TFTC Sol de lune

#384. 55 days in a row.

Was home sick when the emails came in about some new caches. The Sting in the Tail was close enough to a road for me to be comfortable doing it (and I needed to keep my streak going anyway) so I headed to it. Parked at the specified location and saw icheatatgolf coming out after having found it. Sol de lune then showed up just before I went in. Met up with several other cachers after SDL and I had already signed and we decided to hit up SDL's cache that's a couple of hundred metres away while we were there.

06-Nov-14
After missing out on the FTF for The Sting in the Tail I found this one on the way back to the car. Looks like a pretty interesting area beyond the fence. Discovered one TB and took another. Thanks Sol de lune.

06-Nov-14
After a FTF dash to a nearby cache where we met up with Sol de lune we felt it would be rude to pass this one. As a bonus SdL accompanied us along with sumbloke so a few more caching stories were swapped en route plus a few TB's discovered about our various persons & a couple dropped. Great to meet you Sol de lune.

06-Nov-14
After trying a FTF nearby with Tardis and running into Sol De Lune i checked my phone for other nearby caches and noted that the one across the road was owned by SDL Razz

After parking in the correct spot we got chatting with SDL and Sumbloke again and SDL was nice enough to come for the walk to the cache with us while we all swapped stories along the way.

While logging we also ran into Dwarf Exploder so had our own mini event before heading off to complete more caches.

TFTC Sol de lune Smile

This is one of those caches that you drive by numerous times. Each time saying "I really need to stop and find that cache". Well, today was the day for me. Green waste to the tip. Buying top soil for the landscaping project, and the recommended parking spot big enough to stop with a trailer in tow.

I found the cache easily. Noted that the cache is now right next to the Centenary Trail, and was lucky enough to spot an echidna snuffling along just a short distance from the cache. [^] SL TNLN TFTC

....now, on to that landscaping project. Sad

19-Apr-14
We parked at a wrong place, so we had to jump a fence to get to this cache. An easy find. I continued my way down the 'road' and arrived at the tunnel. Very interesting place! I'm sure this road was busy when it was operating. Thanks!

You need clippers for this cache - the thorny bushes are taking over!!
The cache was in the open, so I put it where I thought it was supposed to be, but not so far into the thorns!! TFTC. SmileSmile This is nine of the ten I want to do!!

I believe this road is the old alignment of Long Gully Road. I remember driving on it, one lane each way, while they were building the current wider road beside it. Senility has struck - I can't remember when this was!!
