Checked this one yesterday and it is indeed missing in action once again.
Reluctantly I have decided to archive this one, as I believe it has had its run, and the visible signs of the Lion Park are disappearing due to redevelopment in the area.

Unfortunately on our 2nd visit this pm to try and find this elusive cache to us, we still did not have any success. Search as we might, high, low, or in the middle and widening our search - all to not avail!

pulled up had a look then saw the logs, has not been found for a while and a micro, we walked back to the car and continued our journey thinking i must check logs before i stop
Second attempt this time in the daylight but could not get past the big rock which my GPS told me was GZ. Need help cause I could not solve the clue. TFTC Scubacrazy666.
Admittedly in the dark and GZ was in the clear next to the trees! but could not find the camo! Next time I will recognise when to slow and veer off the freeway to get to this hide. Will watch the logs to see if someone else can find! TFTH Scubacrazy666.
I was heading to beyond Ballarat for (yet) another car rally and left early to grab some caches on the way and this was the first one attempted. Managed to park right next to the wire fence - not recommended though! - and started the hunt. I actually visited this place as a kid and thought it was amazing, also hoping the car didn't break down in the lion pen! Had a good look around where the GPSr was telling me and couldn't find anything that resembled uncommon camo so a DNF for me today. I will keep an eye on this one, thanks to Scubacrazy666 anyway.
Parking is not the best here, but managed, and walked towards GZ. Found the wonderfully camoed cache quickly due to accurate co-ords. Thanks for maintenance of this cache, Scubacrazy666
Cache container has been replaced with a new log, but the same old camo, in the same spot.
Parked past the end of the wire - these contraptions are becoming very common now - do they still do horrible things to motorcyclists? Found something unusual staring at me but no cache within - there's evidence of a bit of recent woodcutting, perhaps it might have gone with the wood? Thanks.
Guess we should not have gone to have a look for this cache on such a hot afternoon but as we were passing by we could not resist. After some time and much searching we decided to call it a day as we the cache was too well hidden in its "common" hiding spot, in its "common" container and certainly appeared to be not with any "common" camo!
TFT challenge Scubacrazy666 - must try another day??
TFT challenge Scubacrazy666 - must try another day??
This was to be our last cache for the day and I think our hearts were in it; hot, windy and dusty. Will look again next time we're driving past.
Couldn't find this one, my GPS bounced me between the fallen down tree and a tree standing up. I looked and looked for something out of the ordinary but couldn't pick it. Will have to get a hint from someone coz I was clueless.
Stopped by to nab this one enroute to home after seeing the New Year in with my good caching buddy tackle_head. For whatever reason I seemed to make hard work out of extracting the cache, but eventually had the log sheet in hand and signed. Thanks to Scubacrazy666 for the cache.

I'm sure I'll eventually get the bloody burrs out of my socks after a half kilometre round-trip trot through the long grass from the far end of the wire safety barrier... at least it was a quick find.
I'm pretty sure we visited this place when I was a kid.

A quick find on the way home today.
Not sure if the cache needs maintenance... Is was out in the open easy to spot.

Wow, what a place to stop!
At least can pretend to use the emergency phone here when pulling up!
Otherwise it really not a place to be encouraging cachers to stop, even if you tell them they can park further down?
Found it on the geound after a few mins, replaced in fork of tree.
Thanks

Never went to the Safari Park but I did know of its existence. For info there is a safe parking spot at the end of the wire fence and about a 200m walk back. For some reason it took me a while to locate this one, but had it in hand at 10:25am as I headed to Steiglitz for the second day in a row (It's a long story!)
thanks Scubacrazy666
thanks Scubacrazy666
Easy find but not a fan of the wire safety barrier stopping parking from further off the road. Tftc
I am old enough to remember this park being open (just!). The cache had been moved but we (ludels1971 and I) put it back together hopefully in the intended place.
Been moved about a bit, maybe by weather or maybe by beast, all good now tho... TFTC
Found with spookyclams. Awkward spot to stop. Parked nearby and walked to gz. Took a few moments to lock onto the correct spot to search. Spookyclams did not see it at first glance, took my eagle eye to spot it. Even more awkward trying to rejoin traffic. TFTC.
On a trip out west with abl973, this was a drive-by on our way out of town. We pulled over at the side of road and started the search. Wandered between two likely spots before the GPS settled down and the container was found. Had a little chuckle when I spotted it. Thanks Scubacrazy666 for the cache.
28/07/12 8:18 AM Find #1133 Todays mission with my friend Square Pegs has us heading westbound with an itinerary of caches locked in and waiting to be found. The weather ahead is looking good, we're well prepared and the car is running really nice. We had a successful day with plenty of finds, lots of mud, a few friendly dogs, antartic temperatures and we discovered some new favourites.
This is one very busy road at this hour. I distracted the passing cars while SP did the search and sign. Thanks Scubacrazy666.

Found while on the way to an event in ballarat. Nice quick drive by, only issue is heaps of muggle traffic and container a little stuck in the um interesting camo. TFTC
Initially difficult to retrieve the log but eventually I got over the fear of snakes in this location and signed the log. TFTC
Find #1 of 15 for the day.
Broke up the drive to Ballarat with a few cache stops.
Thanks for the cache. Loved the container.

Number 1 of 15 for the day on a trip up to Ballarat with Julz76 and a couple of geokids.
I stayed in the car with the geokids as this wasn't a safe location to let them out. Julz76 soon had the cache in hand. Quick sign of the log, then back on the road again.

Second of my 'Great Friday' sojourn out this way today. I'm not sure if I was supposed to but I made it effectively a drive-by [8)] (not by parking on the freeway though). It took a few moments to hone in on it with the naughty O3 pointing at the wrong 'object' at first. Once at the correct location though, I soon had the nicely camoed stash in at 13:35 .
I remember the lion park here but never went to it. I did go to the one near Beenleigh, Qld though, which probably made me 'notice' that this one was here. There seems to be a discussion thread on all the old lion parks in Australia so hopefully they eventually build up a database of knowledge like they have with the drive-ins .
TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks Scubacrazy666.

I've been going to pick this one up for ages, and today was finally the time. I can even remember when the Lion Park was here. Thanks,
Great cache. I vaguely recall going here with my dad in the 60s. Thanks for the memories.
I wonder what did become of it all ?

The sun was beaming and I walked straight up to find the cache in the first spot I looked.
Nice little surprise I recognised straight away.

On my way to replace the cache X, I dropped in on this one and logged it. thanks.
On our way to Adelaide and a quick stop here before a refuel just up the road. Pity the previous finders hid it so well coz I nearly jumped through my skin on the caches sudden appearance.

As the name of this one goes Once was a drive thru, now it's a drive-by which is exactly what I had done before I realised that I had. So Missed this one will have to look next time I am up this way.
This was one of the caches targetted by our group (Ian and Penny, Phetlern and oursleves) during a very entertaining day of caching. With thanks to Scubaacrazy666 for placing the cache.
23rd find of the day, and 3109th total find at 7:46:00 PM.
Found on a caching foray into an area that none of us have been to before.
Well that's not really true of this cache, but we're on our way home from a cache raid in the eastern suburbs.
I tried to bag this one the other day but only had a few moments and didn't have a proper look (so didn't log a DNF). Today the sneaky cache was soon found (although I did ring a geo-help line to confirm the location.
Hmmm, have I seen this container before?? I'm glad you put it to such good use. It had me stumped for a while.

Almost back to Melton, after a day with Ian & Penny and Liz & Bruce. Penny was very keen to post a smilie face here! It was cold and along with the cache fatigue we needed to PAF, it probably took longer than it should have to locate the cache in it's interesting disguise.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt Scubacrazy666.

Found in peek hour at 18:00hrs. Over shot the gz so I had to walk back 250m. Feels like everyone is watching but I don't think anyone is taking any notice, everyone is in a rush to get home. Camo was great, havnt seen one like thus before. TFTC
Find # 3299 and 1st of the day at 12:56pm Accompanied by Wheelchair Access. it was a beautiful warm sunny day and its been nearly 6 months since I last did some caching so decided to have a day out today. Easy find, log sheet is full. TNLN, left my mark in the log, thanx Scubacrazy666....
08/10/2011 08:09 Off to Creswick/Ballarat for an awesome hard-core caching weekend with my good mate iamapom (Carl). I hadn't met up with Carl at this time and had just fueled myself up at the cafe nearby and decided to look for this cache. I felt a bit odd stopping on the highway. But walked the short distance to GZ behind the fence. I saw no evidence of anything ever having been anywhere near here. At GZ I saw the obvious trick hide and would not like to have seen that at night! TFTC Scubacrazy666 TNLN SL

9.25am The start of great day with 80degrees with a targetted Mrs 80 degrees list in our hands, Baccus Marsh here we come. Good team effort while Mr X pretended to have broken down the fiddlers three took off behind the safety rail. Nice easy find but it just made me shiver.

Found at 9.25am Teamed up with xambo4u for another one of our great caching days. Today we headed off to Bacchus Marsh and finally had the opportunity to stop and pick up this one - it was a good thing we had left MrX to look after the vehicle as this would not have been to his liking - Thanks Scuba for this one.

I remember visiting this place once as a kid. It was interesting, but not worth going back too.
The GPS had me hunting a few meters away from GZ. I was doing the search late at night too, which didn't help. As a last ditch effort I checked the GPS again, and it had rethought the location, then the cache was quickly in hand.

Cute cammo - shame we forgot a pen and the chauffeur had to make the trek back to the car where we had parked safely and then back again. I have no memory of the lion park but I guess they wouldn't have liked being near this very busy scary road anyway. TFTC
My navigator was busy working out where the first coffee was going to come from, so we missed the turnoff. The next chance to stop was a distance down the road, so we had a bit of a walk. Very cute container, but the caffeine deprived log-signer had left her pen in the car! Made sure that we got the coffee as soon as possible, just down the road!
Thanks, Robmc.

Found by Team Ladava around 10.30 in transit to our youngest grandchild’s sixth birthday bash in Geelong.
We seem to recall visiting the lion park many years ago and my recollection is one of a fairly derelict facility probable in its last year or two before closing and of feeling sorry for the old and possibly neglected lions.
A little apprehensive about pulling up on the side of a busy freeway but hey a smiley was on offer. A gentle prod to check out the rather unique camouflage, we made our mark and were on our way.
Our thanks to Scubacrazy for the cache and bringing us to this location.

Came once before and went to the wrong GZ in the dark. Not today and soon was grappling with this one on my way to work. Dropped the lid in the long grass but eventually found it. Cold fingers don't help.
A quiet Sunday morning and finally got to nab this one after driving past a few times on other caching adventures. Wasn't 'game' to stop here before more in fear of being cleaned up by a rogue truck or car inching too close! I can recall the Lion Park here as a child (long time ago). Found with Dylan 7a. Thank you to 'Scubacrazy666' for the cache and its location. TNLN.

Found a toy lizard with something red attached to it with a chain but no "common" container. 10 minutes of searching in the dark and a geohash to reach before midnight so I gave up Next time!
For different reasons, including worker muggles, I had missed looking for this one on two previous occasions. When I finally did it I was decidedly uncomfortable parking beside that road. Cache was found easily and I soon got out of there, thanks.
We never visited the park when it was operating but always nagged that we wanted to each time we came passed, it seemed so far out of Melbourne back then, now it's almost a suburb. We often wonder when we drive passed here whatever happened to the animals that used to reside here. We weren't really sure about the legality of parking for this one so we stopped well before it where you can pull right off the freeway and then took a quick walk to gz and the cache was in hand in the second place we looked. Loved the camo

Found at 1.25pm GAFF1. Our first cache on our way west for our 5 month adventure. We were most pleased to see such a novel hide. Had to poke it once or twice to make sure it was not going to attack!

Found while heading up to the Pre-Easter event near Bendigo over the weekend. First find during a five day caching blitz with my two boys which eventually took us through the Victorian Goldfields, up to the Murray River in Tocumwal and back down through Wangaratta. A nice driveby which had the two boys waiting in the car while I jumped out and made the find. Nice camo. Thanks for the hide.
