Logs
This cache is now to be archived, there has been another vehicle leave the road and destroy GZ and part of the building beyond. I believe that it is too dangerous to have a cache in this location.
Passed by here today, saw it's been ten months since it was last found and eight months since CO posted they were interstate but intended to replace.
Is this still going to be fixed, or should it be archived to free up the area?
Is this still going to be fixed, or should it be archived to free up the area?
Thanks to The Rustys for checking on this cache whilst we are interstate. I will restore or replace the cache on our return. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Checked on this on request from the CO. The armco has been smacked into and most likely dislodged the cache. No cache there upon inspection today.
The armco is battered, the place is a mess and are we in the right place here? I think it is gone but not sure, can the owner do a check please?

DNF It looks like some crazy has come through here and taken out the barrier. It's still there but we found no cache.
Yet another Mt D Tourist Road cache, I didn't realise there was so many, the cache was soon found after talking to the restaurant manager and once he cleared off signed the log, thanks again Tank47 for the cache.
Quick stop. The cafe was not in operation.... their loss. I was really hungry and would have bought something! Sounded like somebody was nearby renovating so it may be reopened again in the near future. Cache was a quick find and well protected by spiders webs (which don't bother me). Thanks Tank47 for the cache.
We weren't sure if a family lives here because it used to be a restaurant. Anyway great hide.

on a trip home from Sassafrass decided to power up the GPS and grab a couple of caches. this being the first for the day. The day was sunny but cool, ground was wet from the recent rains, lots of traffic but able to get cache without any issues.
Did not have much trouble finding the cache, did the usual gps location plus a visual search of all the possible and obvious places.
cache was in good condition
thanks to Tank47 for the cache

In the description you it states that this cafe has had a number of owners over the years and as it turns out from the late 70's until the late 90's this property was owned by my family. It was purchased before I was born so I grew up regularly coming up here.
One of the reasons I chose to complete this cache today on Mothers Day was because one of my earliest memories was being up here while my Mum ran a little craft shop in the end of the store directly behind GZ. For about a year My Mum worked in the shop while I as a little tacker sat behind the counter on a rug.
For the majority of the time we owned the property it was leased out to various tenants. It was always good to come up with my parents and get treated to a chocolate milkshake while my parents took care of any maintenance issues. When I got older I would have the job of mowing the block of land beside the shop which given the slope was quite a task. The chestnut trees on that block were planted by my Grandfather.
If you haven't guessed by now I really did love this place as a kid. Only once did we have a tenant that caused us problems and that was by a certain hamburger place that shares it name with a Marvel Comic book Hero and still has a outlet in FTG. When they vacated the premises they left rubbish everywhere and a freezer full of meat with the power switched off. Not pleasant at all! Of course there were also cars constantly running off the road and through the front of the shop. On average 2 a year!
After the 1997 bushfires it was decided to sell the property. I would love for this place to reopen so that I could bring my kids up to get a milkshake. It makes me sad to see the state of it at the moment.
Thanks Tank47 this is the final one in this series that I needed to find the cache was found quickly and in good condition

Kinda felt like we were in someone's property, but another quick easy grab.
Kinda felt like we were in someone's property, but another quick easy grab.
So continuing on our trek hunting caches we continued up the hills of of the dandenongs or should i say dangerous roadnenongs. Took wrong turn and while U turning had a scarey near miss but as keen cachers we braved up and continued on. To the location we arrived and soon had the easy cache in hand and the log signed . Tftc
Found it not a cafe now, not sure what it is a private residence?? did see a guy there as we pulled up with a chain and looks like he was trying to do something with the blue sign post so went in and the kids soon had cache in hand.. no need for a GPS...

TFTC. I recommend you don't accidentally drive past and park up the road like we did as the number of drive by muggles makes it difficult to retrieve discreetly!
Out caching with Zeus and Hera, and Zeus drove us up to this one and got it out for me! A drive-by cache with roadside service!
Drove past this one so many times so today we made a special trip up to finally get another smiley face within our 5 KM radius. It's very open here so I don't know why the GPS was jumping around. Searched a couple of likely hidey spots and sure enough! This was a fun one for the kids and changed over some cute swappables.

Had an hour to fill in between jobs so decided to grab some caches.Sl thanks for the hide.
Found this one tonight. I needed a cache for today to continue my cache a day for 50 days attempt and it was getting late. I thought I was attempting its mate down the hill but I found this one nice and easily and signed log but didn't swap anything today. Its amazing how many cars go by even at nearly midnight!
Thanks for the cache Tank47

Found @ 6:43pm, find # 3234.
Biggles1024 and myself joined forces once again to head out into the forest to seek out the bat cave, this one was close by and on the way. The last time I went to have a look for this one, I had to keep going as there were cars parked at GZ and people close by working on the building, tonight there was no problem and a quick and easy find was made.
Thanks to Tank47 for placing this cache.

It is a lovely autumn Monday, but I have no work on. And I need to lose a few kgs. So up to the hills to walk and cache for the afternoon!
After doing a circuit out of Sassafras, stopped in here for a grab. The house was boarded up, but a vehicle was here. My GPSr kept pointing me towards the road. I turned it off, turned on the geo-brain and literally walked straight over to GZ and got the box. Just like that. A terrific way to complete my caching day!

Nice quickie this afternoon. Been eyeing this for a while but every time I go passed there are workmen. Today they weren't there so made the cobwebby grab. Just as I was getting back into my car the workmen turned up again so I made a move and hit the road. TFTC and the series on the bends
On the 11th of November 1999 I celebrated my 40th birthday with my family and close friends, at the cabin in Ferny Creek Reserve.
On that night we endured the worst storm in ten years. Soon after it stopped raining, my eldest son drove off to return to Melbourne. Less than ten minutes later he rang to say that the car had aquaplaned and rolled at this very location. [;|]
I stand here today, thankful that no one was injured.
Thanks For The Cache and the reminder that life is to be celebrated. <3
This is our 250th find and will forever be special to us. Thanks Tank47.

Took a bit longer than expected, put it down to beginner blindness - with oakesoner
Finally got back to this one on our way home from trying for a FTF up in Olinda. Sadly we missed out by 17 mins. Never mind. This one eluded us last time but after getting a cheat note from Paul the Hippy we found it this time. This will be difficult to get without looking sus when the reno's are finished. Geo son excitedly took 50c, left you car. TFTC
Found it! Parked next to GZ. The cafe appears closed for renovations so was able to look without bring watched except for the occasional passing cars. TFTC SL
#3 of 3 that we couldn't find on the corners going up to Ferny Creek!!! Baffled by all the logs that say 'easy find' or 'quick find'. Sad face from me!!!
Local roadwork on the way up the hill slowed my progress slightly, however this was a quick find after locating the half moon bay cache before it. I remember this cafe when it was "What the Dickens", hopefully the new owners can make a success of this corner. Dropped off Boosted trackable.
Nice easy find always wondered what they would do with this place thanks for hide
Staggered puffing up the hill to make a nice easy find; a couple of swaps later and we are in our way. TFTC
Got a notification from Ali that this one was up and enabled again, so a quick trip up after school and another few months worth of unloved can go on my list!!!
Hi I am in contact with the owner of the location and will be doing so again this week, the cache GZ has been tidied and should not create any issues for future finders.
Thanks Ministro for the timely reminder, I was remiss in not putting up regular updates.
Thankyou for your patience.

Due to the constructon activity and the restricted access to the cache I have disabled the cache until the area is more accessible. I discussed this with the owner, he was still happy for the cache to be there.
I will keep a watch on GZ and when I feel it is clear enough I will reinstate the cache.
At present I have removed the container, there were no trackables in it.

Drive past daily so can let you know when it is clear. Thought you might have checked it on the weekend that i saw you down the road at the hairpin bend do didn't worry about it.

A lunchtime drive today found me in the foothills of Mount Dandenong. A beautiful spot, and it's time to start to clear it of unfound caches. Thanks, this was a quick find.
Cafe closed, unfortunatly, but can still easily access. Nice easy find, tftc.

A Day of Rain and Leeches
I had this day penciled in for Geocaching weeks ago. After working 15 days in a row I needed a day off and a good walk to clear my mind and boy did I get it!
A few drops of rain weren't going to deter me from a day out Geocaching either, even in the Dandenongs
Walked some pretty steep hills that were very slippery in the wet. Saw a lot of wildlife and donated a bit of blood to the local leech population.
14 Finds and 1 DNF
Earlier in the day I had tried to find this cache. It was belting down rain as I searched for half an hour and I got absolutely soaked. Once I wasn't having fun anymore I gave up and continued on. Later in the day I happened across another cache in this series and then I instantly knew where this one would be. I went back, retrieved the cache immediately and signed the log in glorious sunshine. Got to love Melbourne weather.

Heading home in the dark after an afternoon caching. Knew of this cache and had been wanting to grab it for some time. Driving in the right direction made for an easy turn off into the carpark. Cracka1 grabbed it, we signed the log and returned it to where he found it. TFTC
Found at 1:49 PM GAFF1. Corroboree corner eh! I thought I was going to read that it was named that because the local aboriginal tribe used to have their corroboree's there to entertain the passing tourists as they slowed down to get around the corner .
Not much activity with the renovations and it looks like there is a lot more work to be done as well.
Thanks Tank47

Well since yesterdays DNF I've found a couple of the others in this series so now had a good idea of what/where I should be looking. No trouble this time, grabbed it straight away and was soon on my way again.

I walked down the hill to look for this cache. I looked for a few minutes without any luck, and then a muggle arrived who looked like he was going to be doing some work around the place, so I had to head off empty handed.

Nobody about today so an easy find, then we got sprung putting it back. Luckily it was only the property owner who knows all about the cache.
Have replaced the cache, same size container painted black this time.
Owner is willing to keep an eye on it for me.
Added a few swaps,
Major Mitchell Trail, 1982 Hoadley Hide Badge.
Yarra Ranges "Teganda Meanda 1997" Badge
Calgary Tower, Souvenir teaspoon.
Veldhoven, Souvenir teaspoon.
"100 Bash Bucks" from the 2010 SA Variety Bash.
Still no pen, please BYO.

Had a look on November 1st and the cache is missing, will investigate cause of disappearance. The owners knew about the cache, will post results of investigation shortly.
Had a good look but no luck. There was signs of recent clean up at GZ so may have been discovered. Might pay to check on this one.

I had previously attempted this one when the cafe was open, but was unable to search due to the owner wondering about at the front. Today was a different story, the place is shut down for renovations, and a new owner, not re-opening until april apparently.
This is my 27th day in a row of caching.
Thanks to Tank47 for the cache.

What a lovely day to go caching. I decided to do a few nearly caches of Tank47 since I work with him at the moment.
I found the last two caches in a simular location. When I arrived at GZ and saw there was one of these I didn't even use the GPS to find. Found it in the first place I looked.

I had intended stopping off for a coffee at this establishment, only to find that it was closed, apparently for renovations! It made for an uninterrupted find though.
