It’s school holidays, so we are on a mission today to grab the chewy mint trail caches plus others. 30 - 50 caches was our target (we got 33). Junior was pretty cooked by the end.
33/33
After a long outing, and the most caches we have ever got in one day, (by some distance) we decided this was to be the last.
It is also our 500th cache!
Between finding this cache, (unfortunately in a bad way) leaving a wee marker log on here and writing this log at home, the cache has been archived. Still writing the log anyway.
I guess that makes us Last To Find.
Favourite point for what was a great cache hide and our 500th.
Thanks!

Have decided to Archive this Cache as it has done its time and now been destroyed. Will use the idea and make a new one closer to home.
Out and about on this fine Easter Sunday with JustLookingOO and matagouri today north of Foxton to work towards some challenges, including 100 finds in April. Hoping for 50 finds today. JL and I travelled up from Waikanae, picked matagouri up in Foxton, grabbed some supplies, and headed off.
This was our second stop. We stopped on the other side of the road and crossed over in a break (traffic wasn’t too bad). As we got to GZ we noticed that something was wrong - the lock was sitting on the ground and pieces of the container and log were scattered. Possibly a lawn mower has been past and broken the container. We did manage to sign our names on one of the pieces of paper, and put everything back in the container, but there was nothing more we could do.
Thanks for the puzzle and the cache. Hope this is able to get fixed

Today TrinityNZ, Just_looking00, and I gathered in Foxton early in the morning to launch an assault on the Chewy Mint trail, the KAS trail, and assorted others that we happened across. Our aim for the day was 30 (absolute minimum), preferably 50. Our total for the day was 53, so more than satisfactory. We signed all logs as JMT. Most of the caches were easily found, some were a little rusty, some had wet logs. Where we could, we replaced any dodgy logs.
We pulled up over the road from this cache, having solved the puzzle previously, only to find the container wide open and the lid broken. Maybe it's been hit by something like a mower. Fortunately the log was still there and signable, but the container needs a bit of work. Tftc!

MAINTENANCE NEEDED:
Out for the day to collect a high volume of caches with TrinityNZ and matagouri - couldn't resist stopping to find this one along the way. Unfortunately the container and log have been damaged beyond repair, possibly by a lawn mower, found pieces scattered everywhere. We signed our names on a surviving piece of paper and put into the tube (the only undamaged pieced left). Can't wait to return again when it gets reinstated to its former glory. TFTC.

Great cache and great story on its set up as well. Today it was a good dot to pick for a leg stretch on the drive home. Still well designed at GZ but lock is rusted as prior logger noted. Safe parking just past cache if coming south. TFTC.
Yes cool cache ..yep found a lot of the golf balls ...they must have homi g devices attached to be so neatly placed many thanks for the tidy placement easy fav
I always see this cache as we pass and think it's a mystery to solve. This time we were parked at the Foxton Racecourse and I took a closer look. We decided it was safe to walk down the main highway as there was plenty of room, especially on one side. At gz we could see the nicely constructed cache. It was disappointing to see the lock was open and not even through the clasp. The lock is very corroded and won't lock, however. Found several wayward golf balls here . Thanks for bringing us here Linke.
I came prepared this time with oil to lubricate the very rusty padlock. However that was not needed. Heading home with Junior after watching the 21st battalion proclaim their right to march along Foxton with fixed bayonets and swords drawn. Quite a performance! Good to finally get a smiley. Tftc
Stayed overnight at the Foxton Golf club so would have been rude not to do this cache. Woke up early and walked over the GZ. It’s before 8am and SH1 is already busy. Arrived and got distracted by finding a new golf ball further up the fence line. Thought it might be a clue but probably just incidental. Makes you wonder if any cars have ever been hit by golf balls here. Back to the cache and soon was opening it and signing the log. Thanks for a great hide and smiley.
We are on our summer holiday, we usually take a few weeks and travel around the South Island, but this year we are heading around the North Island. Heading up the West coast and back down the East coast. Finding only a select few caches along the way, we are mostly targeting some challenges we have qualified for, some large size caches, some that fill gaps in our date placed grid, a few D/T combinations, some with lots of favourite points, letterboxes and anything else that grabs our fancy.
This was on our list of targeted caches, and even though we were travelling amongst some heavy traffic we stopped. I read through the logs and realised it might not be as easy as I first thought. We decided to have a go anyway to see what it was all about.
I put in the numbers and gave it a bit of a wiggle and soon had it opened.
GK took it back to the campervan and sprayed some silicone spray onto it so that it may open a bit easier for future finders. So we hope the needs maintenance can be removed.
I signed the log (seems as though not everyone who has claimed the find has though) and returned it as I had found it.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

I was able to obtain the code but the lock is very rusted so I couldn't open it. Please CO either replace the lock or maintain the existing one so it can be opened please.
Found the cache but the lock box is very hard to get into. CO hope you can help the future cachers with either lubricating or replacing the locking device.
#8784. I am driving up to Auckland and decided to stop the night in Foxton to take a couple of hours off the trip north. I have seen this mystery cache previously but only looked at it on Friday to see if I could solve it. Fortunately I knew the answers off the top of my head so had the information needed to open the lock. Today I stopped here on the way north and headed to GZ. Took me a minute or so to register the cache is hidden in plain site. With my poor close up vision I had some problems reading the numbers on the padlock but eventually got there. It all opened up OK. It is a bit damp inside but the logbook is still easy to sign. Replaced everything inside as found and the numbers were slightly adjusted so muggles can't open up the cache. Thanks Linke for the cache and the cleverly constructed cache container.
This was a quick stop for us on the way home. Being golfers was easy to work out the clues. Log signed and all dry inside. could do with a squirt of crc or similar. Tftc.
The padlock was locked but not on the latch so real easy to get at. Locked it properly after signing. 3rd find on way to Wgtn for a break from work and family after working all lockdown.

A quick find on our way past. Last person didn’t lock it back up again so it sort of ruined it for us. But it’s all back together properly for the next person. TFTC
**Found on our way home from a February - March tour around the South Island. Logging back home in Auckland in Lockdown isolation**
After spending the night at Ngati Toa Domain we are heading to Bulls to catch up with family. We parked nearby and made our way to GZ where the marked container was quickly spotted. Soon had the lid off and (not long afterwards) signed the log. Nicely done here. Thanks. Adding a Favourite point.

Wellington trip! Caching with Nosynel and Ethness. I was a golfer until I injured my right shoulder which put paid to that activity. Too up geocaching instead. This was a combination of both! Thanks for the puzzle and awesome hide.

I learnt something about golf solving this puzzle. I have enjoyed playing golf in the past. When I played I played rather badly. The geocaching binge with Jude-E started on Wednesday night. We stayed a night at Wanganui. It was a great backpackers.
Lucky it was a weekend day so Ethness could join us. This was one of them.
Thanks Linke for placing this geocache it is find 8460 for me.

Smiled when we saw the cache - The Mainlanders and I.
The only time I have played golf I didn’t even finish the first hole. I was so bad that the people I was playing with sent me off to pick up pinecones!!
Thanks for the cache .

Had to do a noob log for this one as something at gz needs a wrench or some oil treatment
Great concept!

We are wandering around in the camper geocaching. Mr S solved the puzzle and we found the container but were unable to apply our results.
This is definitely worth a fav point. When I was opening the cache a person on a motor bike tooted at me. So possibly a cacher
Very cool hide, well worth a stop (and FP)! Relieved I had the solve right. Thanks Linke
A planned geocaching trip with specific targets in mind.
1: The final 2 caches to fill my D/T grid
2: The last 5 caches available (all in the South Island) to meet the NZ Jasmer challenge GC4R9Z6
3: Get as many caches as possible in a day (Solo)
I had no timetable and only a vague route (Christchurch - Dunedin- Invercargill). So after 20 days of sleeping in my tent/car I arrived home having traveled 4500km and visited some interesting places. Met some great people. I had found over 650 caches. That was a lot of park. Jump out out. Find cache sign and return. Then on to the next. All this done by myself. Also attended an event and had 2 FTF
Mission 1 and 2 were achieved and I had a best day of 153 caches. All this done by myself.
Day 20 Wellington to Hamilton. The last day. 12 caches collected. I may have cursed twice at this cache. 1 when I saw the container but thankfully I did have the necessary to open. 2 when I realized where all the golf balls had gone. Thankfully I was able to make a quick find of the log. Thank you for the placement.

Visited cache again and fixed lock. Also installed a new cover. Cache all good as new.
Whoops. Combination of lock set incorrectly. Will fix on Monday. Set as warning, birdie, bogey at the moment.
Visited cache on way past. Gave the cache a new lock and plastic bags. Log still in good condition after all these years. Dropped off TB.
Day 3/9 of our New Years trip up to the North Island. This was find #100/100 for the day and #169/526 of our trip.
Today was a numbers run of mostly PnG caches. We started in Palmy and set off to see if we could Spell, then headed up to Bulls and after that rounded up a few Smurfs, Herbs, Airplanes, Railway stations and anything else along the way until we came in to finish the KAS trail we started in Oct 2016. It was already dark but we wanted one more find to round out our numbers for the day so we stopped here due to all the favourite points. It wasnt what I was expecting and the padlock was rusted but it made for a much quicker find. Thanks for the effort involved in placing and creating this series for all of us to enjoy.

Today was the last official day of the Mega.
Plans were to collect as many puzzle caches that we had solved in the area plus anything else that came along.
Most of the puzzles were road side witch was extremely busy so parking in some cases were peoples driveways and balancing on road edges and some we didn't go for as they were to difficult to get to. Another day and we have to return.
Al in all a very successful day. SLTFTC

Attending the mega with TeamBOP. Great time to catch up with other cachers and visit Wellington lLots of fun and laughs while finding lots of great caches Thanks to all the COs for providing all the caches and the work that goes into them. Sorry for the generic logs will try to add to them once back home Thanks. Enjoyed this one
It’s Day 1 of our 2018 WENZ MEGA crusade and Team BOP are well represented by McJandals, NZFlossy, TNXPro, Davidson Clan, FapAndGap & Squirrel nutcase and myself.
We have a huge hit list for this 5 day affair so it's gonna be a little manic. We’ve signed our logs either individually or as ‘Team BOP’ depending on log space, size or condition. A special thanks to all the CO’s and those who have helped keep these caches in good order.
The cache wasn't in the first place we checked but we soon had it and started the second step. Here it's worth noting that the lock is on it's last legs. Everything else is in good condition and it was an enjoyable cache. Cheers Linke.

On a long trip down to the mega with Lis's crew. So for me it good for numbers and favorites caches. With several stops and a lot of caches and several souvenirs up for grabs the trip was the perfect opportunity to get my numbers up and get some challenges that I have qualified for. Great little cache here, very enjoyable love the theme. Fp from me.
This cache was a ball. We met someone going into the nearby property here- either a worker or the owner. He asked if we'd lost something like a hubcap. We told him about geocaching but hadn't spotted it yet so couldn't show him. We're on a caching trip to Wellington from the far north. We needed a puzzle for the day as I want to collect a challenge in Welly that requires a 10 day puzzle streak. My companion Thegreatauk spotted this puzzle and said this looked good. It was quickly solved and the numbers entered. A fun cache, thanks
D6NZ had this in his sights so we stopped here in the rough today and completed another in our score card.
No issues with the accessing the green but it was certainly a busy fairway today.
Cheers.

I have set myself a goal to get the requirements for the mystery cache The well-rounded cacher challenge (Manawatu) This requires me to get 25 badges 5 of which need to be gemstone badges. So each time I now go out caching weather it is by myself or with fellow cacher I will try to get a least one cache that will help me get closer to my goal
I solved this one a few months back but kept forgetting to pull over and stop to get this cache once on the way to Foxton and again on the way back from Foxton from a day of geocaching and then again I did the same when I went to Levin for a spot of geocaching But not today I made sure that we stop off to get the cache this time
Quick and easy find took more time to resecure to cache than it did to retrive it
Thanks for the Cache

Having shot past this so many times, today I finally had a chance to stop and solve this one. Great hide, and all safe and dry here. TFTC.
As we were approaching our 500th find we decided to search for something special for this milestone. That brought us to Foxton (for the first time) and this cache. It took us a few minutes to spot this one and we were even wondering if we needed to start at GC1FA50 and walk through the blackberry bramble, but then we spotted it! Miss 3Prettys keenly entered the numbers onto the lock and revealed the logbook, which we signed before posing for 500th find selfies!
Thank you for sharing your Geocaching journey with this hide.

#595. What a beauty! Nearly missed it, but finally the penny dropped and the easy combination proved true! Found at 6.14pm. Fave Point deserved!! Tftc.
Found this last night in the dark. Had been for a tiki tour around the local Horowhenua roads and also out to Waitarere Beach, before heading to Foxton. The road was closed at the Opiki Bridge due to water in the floodway, so headed home along the Foxton-Shannon highway.
Cool container, but it bought back bad memories for me...
I was mowing the roadsides by our farm with my tractor & mower one time before Christmas a few years ago (to get them looking nice for our visitors on Christmas day).
Although i'm normally quite observant, I managed to mow one of these things off that was hiding in the long grass. Chorus then somehow managed to workout that it was me who had done it and landed me with a $400 bill for repairing it

We 3 (rustynz and Rebel98 and myself) are down from Auckland for 3 days of caching, we regularly fly away together on grab-a-seat deals for 3 day caching trips, and today is our last day of our adventures.
it's raining and we're wet me and rusty, Rebel is our driver today and stays in the car dry - wise man! I had done a search of cool caches to find before we flew to Palmy. This was one of them and I sent a list to rusty who was also keen to come here.
Pulled up, and crossed the road, one of these had to be the cache! Sure enough it became obvious. Once in I managed to pick up an item that had the most slugs on it! yuk! Soon returned it after signing ourselves in. An awesome cache! A FP from alright.

What a fun cache to find
This is a group of Westies (rustynz, rebel98 and gorby) on a wild weekend of caching fun.
It was gorby who picked out this one, as a must find before we leave. With the required information we were soon at GZ, finding what needed to be found
As to the contents, the log was all good, and we found a few resident slugs as well, but we had to dig a little deeper for those.
Thanks for the cache, can see why its earned so many favourites.

What a day! My son and I decided to go hard out today to see how many caches we could do in an afternoon. We were lucky enough to be blessed with glorious weather, when the forecast had been for showers, so that definitely helped us to get a great result
I apologise in advance for the generic log, but there was no way I would have been able to write up each Cache as I went along, so am logging them now in bulk (sort of)
So we had decided in advance to hit the Chewy Mint Trail, plus a few other Caches along the way, and on the way home, to see how we got along.
The result all up was 40, of which this was the first.
All is fine with the hide , and the Cache itself was pretty cool. Solved the questions for the combination, and signed the log before moving onto the next find.
Thanks for the Cache

After spending the morning at TwigNZ’s work we headed north to do the “Chewy Mint Trail”. With a total of 40 for the day, we were pleased with ourselves, and the fact that we obliterated our past record number of caches in one day made it all the better. We started at “Where have all the golf balls gone?” and ended the day with “Manawatu Rail: Buckley’s Wharf”.
The cache was in perfect condition, signed the log and moved on. Took Nothing Left Nothing.

Nice find here today before a game of golf across the road. Very clever cache. TFTC
This cache is going to go down as memorable! At GZ it was a pretty much a lake! Took a while getting to the right spot and then I didn't look properly and walked away before Gar, coming from a different direction told me to go back. He left me to it and ended up in water deep enough to go over the top of his mid-height shoes - so much for being waterproof at that point! Glad that I picked up some waterproof shoes last week because I would have had wet feet even approaching GZ in my old shoes. Took me ages getting the lock undone, then locating the log (big doh moment when I did), and then even longer to get the lock closed again (locks and I don't go together too well it appears). Giving it an FP for the whole adventure we had here - thanks, Linke!
A good cache and a quick find.SH 1 very busy today.Wrote the log and re-concealed carefully.TFTC!
Was in Foxton today, having lunch at a friend's place just 200m down the road from the GZ, so decided to go for a quick walk down the road and finally get this cache.
Very easy to find... but that might be because Linke is a family member, and I knew about this cache when it was being planned
*TFTC bro #213* (and as promised, you get a FP)

#93 Found with my mum Gr33nslime and perhaps my dad JimmyNZ. Trying the mass logging thing with GSAK hence the really general log entry!
# 947 Easter weekend and we needed to have a family outing so thought we would give DangerSAM his first experience of the beach - so off to Foxton Beach we went!
This cache popped up and with all the favourites, we had to see what all the fuss was about. I was relegated to making the find, so dashed across the road in front of traffic and got extremely wet feet wandering up and down looking for something out of place. Feeling very exposed at GZ I finally came across something that more than one of just didnt look right and sure enough, saw the padlock! Had figured the code at home and sure enough it unlocked the treasure. A nice tidy hide with very dry and large log book. Thanks for the creative cache hide, had been thinking of making one like this myself. Gets a fav from me, thanks Linke.

Having survived what was supposed to be a wild weekend thanks to Cook we took advantage of today with its benign looking weather report to go out to Foxton beach for some exploring. Gr33nslime, DangerSAM and I had not been out here before, so not wanting to travel far on the long weekend and have to put up with traffic queues and driver rage, to the beach we went. At first we took a wee tiki tour through the suburbs and spent a while looking over the cool classic batches here, with the odd new house beginning to spring up. There was a tonne of caches around here but with DangerSAM a little unwell and us having to work around his nap schedule we decide to pick a few that sparked our interest or had a few favorites. It seems the local cachers have been busy here and you are spoilt for choice.
This cache was found by Gr33nslime, who did the leg work at home before we came. Given it was a long weekend there was a near constant stream of vehicles on the road and Gr33nslime was very exposed finding the cache. Good thing everyone was too busy trying to get as close to the car in front and maximising their speed to focus on the cachers rummaging around on the side of the road. In the end it was a quick find and a very clever hide. Thanks for the cache.

24/02/17 - Found this one after a day Wwoofing on a nearby farm, strangely the code to the padlock didn't seem to unlock it, although it wasn't attached to the latch so I assume this has been an issue before. Either way, log signed and cache replaced as found, Thanks for the cache!
Awesome cache. TFTC. Absolutely loved this one. Lock needs CRC. Thought I had the code wrong but no. Just need to give it a good tug.

Haha, I guess it is not intended to be like that but this cache really got us! After opening the container, we started looking for the ball that would be the one with the logbook but the balls were never ending and the pit bottomless. Of course, the solution was so simple and didn't require any hand-squeezing!
Thanks for the cache! +fav

Solved this a couple of years ago and only finally managed to stop by today. As the previous finder noted the lock is a bit stiff. I managed to lock it up OK, but the next finder may need to bring some CRC or something similar to aide them in their extraction. TFTC
I think the lock here may need some tlc as I couldn't get it to shut properly as was jammed. Very clever camo, enjoyed solving this. Text and that would be number 50th find for today what a mission considering I left taranaki at 8am (and arrived in welligton at 5pm). Tftc
Sanson Day2.
After finishing the KAZ trail, we continued onto the mint tin series. This was liking a tiki tour of the area around the farming country side.
We continued onto Foxton where we had lunch by the seaside.
Geo Hubby is an old golfer so this was an easy ones for him to answer. Favourite point given.
Thanks for placing this cache Linke

This was an amusing one. Well worth a FP. While we were accessing the log, we got a toot from a passing car - I wonder if it was another cacher. Thanks for the cache.
Found all safe and secure with team_macdonald who solved it in anticipation of our trip north a favorite from me tftc
Well where have all the golf balls gone? I think I know, While on our trip around the north island we done a puzzle in tauranga that was called my balls are in your hands and it was all golf balls, So I think that is where they have all gone. Anyway what a great cache, found no worries. tftc found with rayzr2
In the dark all most drowned ion the moat that was keeping people away from the cache site.
Quickly found on arrival - held firmly to mr 3 as we grabbed this one - he was so excited at the contents of the cache tftc
Ooops. Just saw this did not have a smiley and we got it in June. We must have forgotten to log this one. It is a great cache and are giving it a favourite. TFTC
I pulled up across the road heading back to Palmerston North. I looked across the road and knew exactly what I was looking for thanks for the puzzle cache.
#2024 I had visited here a while ago on my marathon 256 day and couldn't open the rusty padlock. Thanks for replacing it and enabling a dot day cache in my way to the Manawatu today for work.
All good at GZ, padlock much easier to open. Thanks for the cache and keeping my daily streak alive.

We twigged this immediately, having met this style of hide before. A good one nevertheless.
+ a marble, - nothing.

As we pulled up to this one it felt like a case of deja vu and upon looking at the log realised I had previously logged this one. So signed again and logging now. Thanks for the fun puzzle cache.
I traveled down to Palmerston North for a 3 day geocaching weekend to give my numbers a bit of a boost, as I head towards my next caching milestone. I decided to fly there and back and pick up a cheap rental car for the weekend. The weather was perfect and I had a great weekend down there.
Today I drove down to Foxton Beach for a more leisurely day of caching, with a focus more on numbers tomorrow. I noticed this was a field puzzle so stopped to check it out. Soon spotted the container and quickly worked out the combination for the lock and signed the log book! Also added another golf ball, that I found while walking along the fence line. Thanks for the cool cache - favourite point added!

Found by Selesi and I on a day up from Wellington. Saw this one had a lot of Favs so thought must try. Initial steps when well and a good collection here. After a slight hitch the log signing was complete. Best cache of the day and worth a Fav. TFTC
Thanks for the recent comments on the state of the lock. Last week we also stopped by the cache and I had trouble with the lock also but it worked. So have got a new lock and it has been installed this evening. Wow, the cache has been sitting there for 5 years now. Thanks for the FAV points. Happy geocaching visitors to the cache.
I've tried for this one before - as the puzzle part is straightforward - but for some reason I had not spotted the container at GZ!!! (maybe the grass was too long? The area at GZ was certainly more than ankle deep in water last time as it had been raining for days)
This time it was a quick find and the numbers worked great! I had no problem opening the cache - there is no rust or problem with the mechanism as previously mentioned - I think finders just need to make sure their numbers line up with the marks on a particular side to ensure it opens...
And now I know the answer to the question posed!! Thanks for the fun puzzle Linke!!

Was excited to do this one as it had so many fav points. Had solved the puzzle before leaving home so it would be a quick find at gz. We got to gz and quickly spotted the cool cache. Tried the code with no luck of it opening. Claiming as a find as we live out of the area and can't come back once lock fixed. Hope this is OK with CO have taken photo of proof we were here if needed. Great to see a fun and different type of cache fav point from us for the creativity.
Down this way caching with Team LALNZ and this was the first one for me today. Having down the quizz at home this was a quick find and access to the cache was quick as well. Clever camo with all this grey objects here abouts. Thanks for the placement Linke.
Solved on the fly, a par performanance. Thanks for the stop. Cheers
TIme to head home to Christchurch, the slow way!
Thanks to all the CO's for their hides.

A mission was needed to complete one of the last few licence challenges on Rangitoto Island, so a passing comment to C&D at an event and this mission was soon planned. We nearly achieved what we set out to accomplish, with only 1 more cache to find to complete the challenge but that was due to miss-reading the fine print on the challenge page.
So with the mission lasting 48 hours we amassed a great set of numbers, 317 caches found, just over 1200km travelled, about 7 hours of sleep, C&D finding his 180th earthcache, completing the KAS powertrail in under 3 hours and finding numerous amazing geocaches. A lot of fun was had along the way, and some great memories were created. A big thanks to everyone for placing all the caches along the way, this mission wouldn't have been as much fun if they weren't there!
GPS wasn't being too helpful to start of, but after a few moments it settled and lead me to the cache. Didn't have any issues getting into the cache, but the last finder hadn't muddled the numbers up much and I only needed to adjust one number to get into it. Thanks for the neat cache.

30th of the day and another awesome cache found today. Puzzle easily solved and cache easily found. What a surprise. I almost lost the lock but eventually found it! TFTC.
