Out finding cache or two before going to a music festival today. Had been wanting to do this one for a while. Spotted the station on the way in, found a park and headed up the road. For me, I found the cache 35m in a NNE direction, not NNW. Only real spot to put the cache anyways

Out for an enjoyable Easter Saturday of caching with Mighty Minions, Banj5150, eemiag, lee737 and Samuel737. After completing a bunch of caches around Mt Kuring-gai and in the Blue Gum gully, we grabbed some lunch in Rouse Hill before heading across to Kenthurst, stopping off for both this one and the GA trig along the way. Banj5150 made the find while the rest of us were poking around nearby. Many thanks for the hide.

An afternoon of Covid safe geocaching in my LGA took me around some interesting caches.

Surprising to find a trig station in this area. Pacing our 35 steps in NNW direction the cache was spotted in an obvious hiding place.

Today has been a long time coming. Almost 3 years ago i began a challenge to myself to find a cache every day.
Today i have reached The 1000 day mark of that caching streak.
Ive found caches at night, in heavy storms, when ive been tired after work, when ive hit patches where the streak felt monotonous, when ive snuck out of multi day events.
Im starting to see an end point in the future but until i get there ill be out finding my daily cache.
I debated what to do today to celebrate this milestone. When i hit my 1000th find i went out to Lithgow and found a cache hidden in 2001 that had been on my to-do list for years.
I decided today to beat my record of the number of geocache types found in a single day.
My finds today ended up being:
#1396 GC99VVP PGA 33 (Wherigo)
#1397 GC5X788 A Bugs Life #2 (traditional)
#1398 GC99RYB PGA 2 (mystery)
#1399 GC88ZHZ Welcome To The Blue Mountains (virtual)
#1400 GC25861 Lennox Bridge (multi)
#1401 GC2P7Y1 Trig Station Letterbox (letterbox)
——
My sixth and final cache of the day.
After coming back from the lower mountains via Mitchell’s Pass i decided to go after one last type today on my way home.
I passed through the massive building project on my way to the GZ. There are going to be a lot more houses out here very soon.
After parking across the road i followed the instructions and found the cache straight away.
The container is in good condition and the log is dry.
Thanks.

Looking at a potential challenge series (when restrictions allow travel again), realised I needed a letterbox hide for the month of October. Perfect timing to detour via this one on my way to a family function in the area. Luckily an easy PnG (based on some pre-determined mapping) as my other option was a dnf.

When Muppet95 suggested we spend part of the week-end in Sydney I cleared my calendar preparatory to blitz Saturday. We got a fairly early jump on the day, weren't long and we were Penrith-bound, and landed at our first stop by nine o'clock. The rest of the day was full on, completing ten Adventure Labs in the process, and made our way from Penrith up to Windsor, back to Blacktown via Riverstone and finally ending up in Ingleburn. Only a couple park n' grabs, several long walks, no DNFs, and one abandoned prospect as we discovered we were not prepared for a swimming find. All but a couple were adventures whether or not they were labs. I lost count of everything we did except that we made it back home before the local pizzeria closed at nine o'clock. It was a pretty good workout. Oh, and the weather was perfect. Thanks to all the COs for a great day!

We parked near WP1 off the road and I walked NNE about 30 paces to a very likely place, where I managed to get the cache despite the young shrubs doing their best to conceal it. Thanks AussieCacher for a good multi on a very hot day, glad I didnt have to head too far into the bush.

We are travelling from Sydney’s Northern Beaches to Vineyard for a short three day caching holiday, staying in a park cabin at the Avina Caravan Park, and planning on exploring the areas around Vineyard, McGraths Hill, Mulgrave, Windsor, Wilberforce, and Ebenezer. And being the final weekend of the Cache Carnival (ends Monday) we will be looking to maximise our score on the Friends Leaderboard. This was our 11th find of the day, and of the holiday.

Next we arrived this one, our third Letterbox cache for the morning, and headed over to the Trig marker at the posted coordinates. Took our bearings and then headed off to GZ, where the hide was soon uncovered and we had CIH. Stamped & signed the logbook, TNLN, and then replaced as found. TFTC AussieCacher.

Located at 5:58pm. #800! This was my 800th find! And my 5th Letterbox Hybrid Cache find.

Once again, I am continuing my trend of logging a different cache type at each Milestone find. I had in my mind to log either a Letterbox Hybrid Cache or an Event/CITO Cache. However, with the next Events not taking place until after the ending of the current Hidden Creatures Souvenir Challenge, I chose a Letterbox Hybrid Cache as my next cache type.

Including this find, I have found five Letterboxes in total. This was a nice quick find even at nighttime with cars whizzing home around me and my trying to remain inconspicuous at GZ with my flashlight. I would be a little too paranoid to attempt this during the day. I enjoy the difference of a Letterbox Hybrid as they have all presented their hide a little differently. I am hoping to place a Letterbox Hybrid out sometime in the near future, just working on the method required to deduce the coordinates.

So, lately I have been working on keeping a high average for the difficulty and terrain of the caches I find whilst also working on filling my D/T Grid. I like caches that have their difficulty one step above the terrain just as much as a good high terrain cache with a low difficulty rating. My D/T grid is currently 53/81.

My finds so far (at 800) are as such:

- 714 Traditional Caches
- 26 Multi Caches
- 7 Virtual Caches
- 5 Letterbox Hybrid Caches (Including this one)
- 7 Event Caches
- 21 Mystery Caches
- 17 Earth Caches
- 3 Wherigo Caches

Many thanks to Aussie Cacher for this hide. Спасибо для кеша! תודה! L’chaim! TFTC!

This was a bonus cache for me, as it was not on today's list. I came to log the trig, but this being so close I wasn't not going to log this one as well Big Grin. Unfortunately I didn't bring my wattle stamp, which I do normally when logging letter box caches, but the log was not very big as it turned out. I guessed where the cache was and went straight there. My Garmin had this as NNE. Quick find. TFTC AussieCacher.

Pacgirl and I flew up to Sydney to visit Snoopy for a few days. The trip included sightseeing, socializing, and just a 'little' caching Wink. My geopartners sometimes got a little impatient - they're obviously more muggles than they are cachers Smile.

Today we headed north-west to Rouse Hill.
I've got to pay more attention to the cache notes. I treated this one as a trad, obviously finding no cache. Twenty minutes later I wake up, follow the instructions, and bingo Big Grin!
Thanks, AussieCacher.

Out on a road trip today from the central coast for the final day of the Spring school hols for some geocaching woohoo! Our first three for the day were AussieCacher LBHs. I can't resist a LBH! This one was our third find for the day. I kinda feel that the direction we need to head from the trig is in fact NNE but quickly looking back thru some recent logs no one mentions this so I'm a tad 'stumped' lol? Standing by the car and looking across in the direction suggested on the cache page from the trig and I didn't like what I saw at all ..and that's when I turned around and looked over at the two boys standing over there with CIH. How did they do that I hadn't even read anything out aloud yet? I felt like noob. Glad I brought *them* today lol. Stamped this there/ that here etc. TFTLBH, AussieCacher!

22/7/17 Found with AlphaDeltaIndigo & pk1965. On a mission to find Regular or Large sized caches, as well as Multi, Mystery and Letterbox / Hybrid caches to help me edge closer to completing the respective UGC challenges, I hatched a plan with AlphaDeltaIndigo and pk1965 to travel out west to Ebenezer, to take part in the monthly CITO and meet & greet events… and do some caching while we were there!

After a delayed get away, we arrived about three quarters of the way through the ‘Charles Kemp Reserve Bushcare - CITO Event 07/2017’ but, with the arrival of the late shift, we jumped straight into the bush regeneration to make the best use of our time. There was plenty of Mother of Millions (Bryophyllum species) to be weeded and we rolled up our sleeves and tried to make a positive dent in the area. We filled up a couple of bags before calling it quits, so we could get to the next event. Thanks For The CITO Event Cache Splitty Miller JJCC & teamMerlin.

Before we made our way over to the meet and greet event, we wanted to quickly pick up a few target caches in the vicinity. We made short work of the ‘Post Office Letterbox’ Hybrid Cache, ‘Within the pages’ Multi Cache (which we found 15m west of the final co-ordinates), the ‘Portland Head Letterbox’ Hybrid Cache and ‘EG-Q#14: Kirwan’s Retreat [TB Hotel]’.

While we wanted to go off and to more caches in the limited time we had today, it was hard not to want to stay the rest of the afternoon at the ‘Meet & Greet at the Hawkesbury 7/17’ Event Cache. What is always a great event, the gorgeous weather meant it was perfect sunning on the lawn and chatting about all things geocaching. Then came the soup… yum! Thanks For The Event and caches phlphotos, teamMerlin and Splitty Miller.

We eventually dragged ourselves away from the event in the hope we could pick up a few more caches before having to return back to the big smoke. We set our sights on the nearest unfound Multi Cache, ‘Cables Near the Oval’ Multi Cache in Sackville North, which was also a handy Regular Size. We collected the answers easily enough and did the calculations while taking a ride across the river. Once we were on the right side of the waterway, we ended up picking the hard way to Ground Zero, but in the end, it was not too tricky and we soon had the Cache In Hand. Thanks For The Multi Cache Ropes.

A cache that caught our eye was ‘Edgy’ in Sackville, which is also another Regular Size, because of its higher Terrain rating. We parked behind the abandoned car at the trailhead and followed the track to Ground Zero. We looked over the edge and was surprised by the large drop but managed to find the easiest way down to the cache. Nice views of the river properties below from here! Thanks For The Cache LittleBub.

On our way back to Sydney, we swung by the ‘Trig Station Letterbox’ Hybrid Cache in Nelson for a fast find. While we were there, I thought I may as well log the Trig Cache on GCA as well. Thanks For The Letterbox / Hybrid Cache AussieCacher. A fun day out west, soaking up the warm winter rays.

In the evening, after the Sydney Swans had a convincing win over the St Kilda Saints at the Sydney Cricket Ground, AlphaDeltaIndigo and I decided to pick up one more to make it ten finds for the day. The ‘Centennial Park Riddle’ Mystery Cache was one of the closest unfound, so we walked over, avoiding the traffic congestion around Moore Park. A tricky one to search for at night but AlphaDeltaIndigo went back to double check a spot and turned up the hide. Signed Log, Took Nothing Left Nothing. Thanks For The Mystery Cache Flintstone’s.

Last stop for the day out here caching in the Hills District.

This seemed to be a much longer drive than I expected so I pulled over to check where I should turn off. Of course I could see the trig point in the rear view mirror so it was a U-turn and I parked the geomobile and headed towards it.

I always find trig points interesting as we used to have one near our holiday place when I was a kid and we used to go up to it and toast marshmallows and enjoy the view- great memories!
This point isn't nearly as old being established in 1973 and there doesn't seem to be a view. There was Sydney Golden Wattle around the trig marker - pity no camera.

I followed the cache description directions and soon had CIH, signed the logbook and visited some TBs.

Then it was time to head for home, lunch is calling.

4th find for the day, 2nd letterbox, TFTC.

We love trigs, and we love letterboxes, so this was a must-stop. Our third letterbox for the day too, a little series? We grabbed our photos to log the trig, then counted steps until an obvious GZ approached. Another nicely camouflaged container, all in good condition too. Now we head towards traffic!

#3167 6 of 11 today.

I was working in Sydney this week, so I've taken to opportunity to spend the weekend and grab a few caches that I desperately needed for various geo-challenges. It was pretty warm by Canberra standards & I sweated here today. The car was saying 20C (is it winter ?) and in the bush land the humidity was up. All in all, a satisfying result. Only one DNF and I had to give up eventually due to fading light.

I needed a couple of letterboxes, so I took advantage of these. Grab a snap of me in front of the trig too.

TFTC AussieCacher.

Team Omam from the Netherlands has only one aunt left. And as she will have her 100th birthday early February, we decided to join the birthday party. But …., she lives in Sydney Australia! An excellent opportunity for us to explore this continent once again and find Geocaches along the way. We will do a 3.5 weeks trip! At places where we will stay for a few days (Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Darwin), we will organize Meet and Greet events. We will try to find mainly caches with high favorite points, caches from 2000 and 2001, earth caches, webcam caches, virtuals and letter box hybrids.

#2590 (4 of 7 today) (Streak day 239)

Decided to head north today, and looking to grab two letterbox caches (note to self - need to place one) as well as few others while I'm up here.
While here today's publishing started. Nothing close, until finally one was placed on the way home - might as well go for that too.
END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION
Second of my targets for the day.
Interestingly, when I arrived at the published coordinates, my eyes wandered to a likely spot - and that was where I found myself heading before the quick find.

Completed signing duties and replaced.
Strange to find a trig here.

Out with JJCC for a daily cache and as we were passing nearby we noted this letterbox cache on the map. Parking the car as close to the side of the road as we could get we walked up to the trig (very impressive).

Taking note of the directions we worked out were NNW was...but we were slightly confused with this direction as it took us across the road. Reading the cache description we ended up following the fence line in a NNE direction and at the designated distance from the trig made a quick find of the cache which was nicely tucked away from view. After signing the log we replaced the cache from were we found it and strolled back to the car, taking a photo of the trig before our departure.

Both the cache container and log are in good condition. TFTC AussieCacher.

Out with Team Merlin for a daily cache we decided to find a letter box cache. With coordinated in hand we parked quite close to the trig.

Working out our compass bearings we re read the cache description to help clarify where we needed to head. A quick find was made once the designated distance from the trig was determined. We signed the log and replaced as found out of view. Both the log and cache container in good condition.

After a bust at the nearby 'Chirping Forest', Ken479 and I headed here for a smiley. The trig marker is impressive, and Ken479 came up with the goods in an unexpected direction (surely this is NNE?).

21/08/15. 10:13 AM. Cache #2863. Streak day #425.
4th of 12 finds this morning.
After finding "Epiphyte", my next cache was going to be "The Chirping Forest", but as I'd left my Garmin at home* and needed it for the chirp, I had to skip it and so I came to this one instead.

I headed to the published coordinates and found nothing resembling the hint. Then after reading a few logs I assumed something was amiss so I took a closer look at the description. Ah, it works like a multi, I see. So I followed the instructions over to a more distant object I had noticed earlier (and was considering checking anyway), and after checking a couple of spots got the cache in hand. No stamp, so I just signed it. Next stop "Amaroo Park Raceway". TFTC.
} : )

* So 4 hours later I'm at the shops at Thornleigh and I lift my hoodie off the passenger seat and underneath it was my Garmin - I had brought it after all, it was in the car all day and I could have used it at "The Chirping Forest" after all! Kicking myself.

At the moment I'm on a work and travel backpacking trip through the world. Most of the first two years I'll spend in Australia and I'm trying to solve my 365 days of caching challenge during this trip. The chance of having a moving home zone should be taken, as it will make the challenge so much easier.

Read the description, looked around a went right to the cache, as there aren't that many places for a good hide. Nice one.

TFTC and greetings from Germany

"When I got to this one I didn't read it carefully enough and thought it was NW, not NNW. I headed to an area with some posts but nothing seemed to fit. I went back and read it again and worked out my area. I headed in the direction of NNW and searched there but nothing seemed to fit? Like Opa Shrek before me I was on the wrong side of the road.. Without the hint for this one I wouldn't have found it! Was a tad disappointed at GZ to find that the only reference this cache has to a letterbox hybrid is the fact it contains a stamp. Another one for the stats I guess."

With my 30th birthday approaching in less than two weeks and having just passed 800 finds the competitive side of my brain decided it would be a great challenge to attempt to get to 1000 finds on my birthday. This would also mean that I would attain 1000 finds in 19 months of geocaching. I sat on the idea for a couple of days, I wasn't sure whether it was achievable and whether or not I would have the time to travel to areas which had decent trails. Last night my competitive side got the better of me and I decided that the challenge was on!!

I'd been eyeing off the Windsor to Rouse Hill Power Trail since I first started caching but had never made the time to travel down from the Central Coast to attempt it. I went under the house to find the ancient Malvern Star bike my old man used to have when he was at uni roughly 40 years ago. I did some work cleaning it up in the dark and cold of night and greased the chain so it would be ready for the trip.

I left the Coast at 7:30am this morning and started driving down to Windsor. I grabbed a few caches along the way including one close to home I hadn't found yet and others around Dural. I pulled up at Windsor and was soon on my way.

I was unable to attempt the first cache at the time as there was a function on and tradies working right next to the cache! This would turn into a theme for the day as apparently it was the day council had decided to mow all the nature strips! Thankfully I was able to make most finds with good timing and only had to come back afterwards for a couple. It definitely was a different experience caching in such an open area with soo many muggles about. I found a cache 15m away from a Muslim man who was praying in the direction of Mecca and the cache itself!! I had truck drivers giving me weird looks because I was stopping at electrical poles and other bike riders wondering why I kept on stopping. I also had about 4 people beep me when I was searching, I'm guessing they were geocachers and knew exactly what I was up to!

I managed to go from start to finish of the power trail in 3 hours and 45 minutes with 2 DNF's (one which hasn't been found for a long time and another which I'm sure is gone due to the recent lawn mowing). I had one more DNF which I couldn't search for properly as there were people right on GZ both times I went past.

I managed to sign most logs using WTF instead of my whole name. Some logs weren't signed because they were wet and about 4 others because they were covered in ants! Thanks to everybody who has helped maintain all the caches I've found today!!

TFTC Cheers

after spending the better part of the afternoon mowing (a hot day) took time out to go hunting. This one fitted the bill, not too far from home, different type of cache (letterbox). decided it was time to increase my count of finds on this type.

Arrived at the designated trig station. Paced out my 35 metres, took stock from where I finished and soon spied the cache location. SL and replaced. tftc

With an hour or so up my sleeve before I was due in Windsor this afternoon I did want any self respecting geocacher does in such circumstances ... collect a few smilies. Looking at the map, I was attracted to this letterbox cache (there's very few of them on the Central Coast) so I made sure my route took me that way. Initially, I went to the wrong side of the road to look for the letterbox but when I didn't see what I was supposed to, I realised I should have been on the other side. A quick find followed and then I was back on the road ... forgetting to take a photo of the trig marker as I intended ... oh well!

Thanks for giving me only my third, I think, letterbox cache Aussie Cacher.

Very much enjoyed this. The spot was obvious, but I didn't look hard enough the first time. 10 minutes or so later, I had it. Many thanx.

This week I am slowly heading south. I am on my way to Sydney for a work function next Tuesday / Wednesday. So I am taking the rest of this week to slowly cache my way south. Big Grin
After spend a day or so caching in Newcastle with Grub Fred. ( He has kindly allowed me to stay at his place for a couple of nights while I was in town. ) I am continuing my way south again. Cool

And have finally made it to the outer suburbs of Sydney. I am staying a couple of nights in the nearby caravan park. Big Grin

Today I am driving around the area heading towards letterbox and Wherigo caches, plus a few trads along the way as well. Smile

Another letterbox cache found in the area and the GCA trig cache as well. Razz

Thanks for the cache.

This one was a tricky one from Aussiecacher! It was the sixth letterbox cache for CJ and I. We found it today after heading out to the hills district.

We've also been wanting to get some letterbox caches added to our logged caches list. Getting out here has been the challenge.

This was a drive by and parking was easy. Finding the trig was easy too. However, I do question the direction. The cache is in a NNE direction and I was totally confounded. I'd challenge other cachers to check their navigational skills on this one. Anyway, CJ made the find after following her own correct instincts and quickly spotted the tell tale sign before showing me. We soon had the cache in hand, signed our sixth letterbox log and replaced the cache as we had found it. The container camo was excellent.

Anyway, it was a satisfying find and was a great day to chase down more caches. Thanks AussieCacher for another of your caches. Prolific Smile SL TNLN TFTC

Our 6th and final letterbox cache today. A good hiding spot, found after searching the wrong area initially. The white horses seemed to know something but they weren't letting on! SL&R. We don't have an ink pad so, we couldn't stamp the logbook. TFTC, AussieCacher!

Off to Sydney today to target some letterbox caches in and around West Sydney had six on the list and managed to find all without too much bother and injury free which is always a bonus parked directly opposite the trig point and took a few pictures of both it and the surrounding area all quiet with not many people about thanks for bringing us here book stamped TFTF

Spent most of the day with the family at a certain water theme park, when I got around to checking my messages I noticed 6 new geocaches had been published in the Kenthurst area. Four hours had passed so I knew there was no chance of a FTF however decide to head out in the evening and pick up as many as I could find anyway. This particular cache was on the way so I make a quick stop and a relatively easy find, some locals driving by gave me some funny looks. SL TFTC! Smile
