Out and about again, but not finding this cache today. CO will need to check as it has been some time since last found.

26-Jul-23
Spent a lot of time scrolling through docos to try to find a solution. Tftc

21-May-23
Has this one been checked yet as a few dnfs and hasn't been found in three years?

27-Mar-23
This geocacher reported that the cache might be missing.

27-Mar-23
Could the co please check this out so we can claim a smiley

04-Jul-22
Unfortunately despite our best efforts today we were unable to locate your your cache. This one might be worth a Co check.

We came. We hunted. We did not find.

Thanks duncdonut73 but we had no joy here today.

08-May-20
Find 22 of 24 with 2 DNFs on two bike rides, starting on Heirrison Island and down to Vic Park, then after lunch around Carlisle and Cloverdale targetting some solved puzzles.

Solved a while back, neatly done. Lapped the host a couple of times before realising things have changed since it was first placed. Eventually dug out a cache that was really well wedged, only to find the last log was from 2017 - it was iluvtrekking's replacement cache from 2016 which was presumed missing in 2018. Couldn't find the Nov 2018 replacement at all, but the 2016 replacement is good to go again Wink

When I realised we would be coming to this area this weekend I checked that map for some local caches. I came across this puzzle that I had never noticed before. With the hints scattered throughout the cache page, I managed to make a fairly quick solve of this clever puzzle. At GZ we dug around for a bit before reading back through some logs and discovering that the cache isn't hidden as the hint in the checker suggests. After expanding our search we made a quick find. Thank you for another excellent puzzle and cache, duncdonut73

04-Dec-19
We had struggled with this puzzle for quite a while. We were given a hint and suddenly it all made sense and we got some coords. Stopped off today to add our name to the log.
Headed out early to do a few hours caching before the heat set in.
TFTC duncdonut73 this is find # 8599 for us.

25-Jul-19
Headed about to pickup a few puzzles in the solved bucket. Made good finds on all of them and enjoyed the puzzling aspect of them. Thanks to the COs for the cache.

Took a bit of searching, then junior dkla.vk said what’s that. Thanks fir the cache

28-Apr-19
Out and about tracking down a few smileys today. This one has been on the radar for some time since my DNF over a year ago. Glad to say that after a rather lengthily search I eventually found the cache not where the hint in the checker suggested though.

Thanks to PP2 for their initiative.

duncdonut73 I found your cache at 12:04pm, this was the 5th of 6 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 5321. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.

After previously solving this puzzle we stopped to perform our signing duties whilst in the area, a nice quick find TFTC

03-Nov-18
I was all excited at finally solving this one but disappointed that it is probably missing so I messaged the CO to ask if he would like us to replace it. To be fair I did not give him much time to respond before I shot off to look for it. The upshot being that I have replaced it & will send photos to CO. Hope thats OK.

This one's been sitting in the unsolved pile for a long time, had another crack it the other day and discovered something that was staring me in the face the whole time, just needed to look a bit closer.

Anyway, took a detour on the way home from work today to see if I could grab the smiley. Searched around for a while where the hint suggested and shifted my focus as well but came up empty. Hopefully I'm just cache blind here. Cool

duncdonut73 I couldn't find your cache, this was my 1st DNF for the day. I did have 2 finds today so all is not lost.

I remember stopping by about a year ago trying to find this cache without success, but I think it was during the time that it had been muggled. So, I was very happy to notice that it has been restored and I made a nice easy find this morning in exactly the place that I had anticipated it to be. I love the trees around this area. Solved the puzzle quite a long time ago now, but I remember enjoying working through the solution. TFTC duncdonut73

finally we can change the unhappy smiley in a happy one.
Thanks for replaced cache iluvtrekking so we could find and log it.
Thanks for the cache duncdonut73 for the puzzle.

Clearing maintenance log thanks to iluvtrekking.

30-Nov-16
After being in touch with the CO we can confirm that the cache was indeed missing so we have replaced it, unfortunately the container is not identical but it is of a similar size and location. Thanks duncan.

30-Aug-16
Mounting DNFs please could the CO check that this cache is still viable.

13-Aug-16
Hi duncdonut73, we wish we could give you a FPoint for this puzzle but we couldn't find the prize, even the hint didn't help.

26-Jun-16
the puzzle was solved for a while now and today we thought we give it a go to find it.
At GZ the kids had a good time playing in the sun unfortunately not the adult members of the team.
We couldn't find anything excepted empty bottles at GZ.
Thanks for the Puzzle we will come back after the existents of the cache is confirm.

Had some spare time this afternoon so spent about 30 minutes looking around here, but no luck again. Could the co check on it? Otherwise I'll come back again another time. Tftc

Had a good look around at GZ but wasn't successful, even with looking at previous logs. Thanks for the puzzle. I'll be back.

Wow. What a great puzzle indeed! Love how well crafted this puzzle is and how all the elements fit together as a whole.

I remember looking at this puzzle cache when I started geocaching (as it was the closest to my house) and thought that I'd never be able to figure it out - but lots of dedication and patience paid off and I'm so glad that I managed to solve this on my own! A fact that a friend once told me years ago (which was simply another useless fact at that time) turned out to be the key to solving the first part of this puzzle, from there it took me a little more effort to finally extract the coordinates.

Dropped by the cache location today to sign to log before the rain set in. All is still in great condition.

Thanks duncdonut73! Look forward to tackling your other puzzles.

I was a while ago that I worked out where this playground was, today, I saw it was close so time to sign the log. A relatively easy find, once I glimpsed the container

Dropped by today and found the cache a little stuck but was able to free it with a bit of rocking and tugging.

28-Apr-13
The hole has overgrown the canister so it just wouldn't come out. Sad

27-Apr-13
Wow! The last part took me ages to figure out! I was getting stressed because I wanted to find it before we went back home (400km away) got to the location, found the canister, tried for ages to get it out but the hole has overgrown it so it just wouldn't come out.. So was unable to sign the log Sad I have proof off my find if required Smile
Thanks duncdonut73!!

How I love finding a previous DNF! And even more so when so much effort had been gone into solving a puzzle first! Today I must have had the right glasses on as I found it within seconds of arriving at GZ... however it was a bit more tricky extracting the container from the hidey hole. Maybe the tree is expanding and the space is contracting? But persistance finally had it out and the log was very thankfully signed. Thanks for a great puzzle and the cache duncdonut73.

Finally solved this puzzle a few weeks ago and this was our first opportunity to get over this way to check it out. Seems we have followed FelixII and McFonz a few days apart from Mandurah to Perth logging puzzles and regular caches. This was a tricky hide although gps took us right to gz - just had to look harder to be rewarded.

27-Apr-12
Out on a "Puzzle Cache" run with McFonz and Felix II.

We had a list of Puzzle Solutions due the varying degrees of hard work from the different team members, so today was about picking up the Caches.

This one was hard, and i'm only talking about retrieving the cache from it's hiding place.
Fortunately there were a number of tools lying around that offered me some leverage !!!

Many thanks.

Out with MCFONZ and The Machman targeting recently solved puzzles some by individual members of the group and some as a brains trust!

Boy did this puzzle take me forever to solve! MCFONZ was coaching me all the way and I made the 1st step no problem. Then 2nd step took some .... coaching (PUSHING) but I got there, but do you think I could make that final connection. No way Ah ah couldnt do it.

Was emailing AusTrackers about another problem cache I had and mentioned I was stuck on this and they kindly gave me a nudge. Nope that didn't joine the dots either. By this time MCFONZ was ready to hit me! Twisted WHY can't she see it!!!!

Finally out on an epic caching run he resorted to putting me out of my misery and telling me how to get to the final. Alas at home tired (and drinking) could I join those dots no way. Another email about that god damned playground went unanswered.

This morning up early before heading out I tried again, and what do you know I had the green light from the geo-checker. Phew! What an epic I turned this into.

Once at GZ I spotted the cache quickly (left MCFONZ in the car). hmmm retrieving proved to be a very different story. Seems to be a recurring theme to our day. MM did the deed and signed the log under the watchful eye of the 3 guard dogs across the road.

Well! I've been looking and looking at this puzzle for what feels like an eternity. I showed it to a friend who has also been recently introduced to caching, and he pointed out the quite glaringly obvious clue (Thanks, owneroperator! Very Happy). That got me going and soon had the correct co-ords.

Lunchtime rolls around and I duck out to find. Just as I arrive a car pulls up to what I believe to be GZ, they seem to be quite interested in what this shady looking fellow seems to be doing hanging around a suburban park in the early afternoon. They leave their car and wander away staring at what could only be a GPS. Another cacher! I'm slightly relieved, and excited as this is my first encounter! (V.nice to meet you, Skulduggery!)

We team up, and both our GPSs have us looking in the wrong place, but then low and behold, it's always the least salubrious of locations....

Thanks for the great puzzle, Dunc!

What's the odds of meeting another cacher at a puzzle cache on a work day! Surprised
I was a bit suspicious at first but glad Moldest made the acquaintance, especially as he ended up finding the cache soon after our GPSs changed their GZ bearings. And now I know what salubrious means. Though it didn't help at the time. Cheers Moldest and TFT Puzzle and cache duncdonut73. Cool

Well, almost a year after it was published and I finally worked it out. No I didn't spend all that time on it but returned for the occasional look when I had a flash of inspiration, and at one point I can say I was on the right track, just had the wrong place.

Deciphered the message and was obviously confronted with more puzzle. Came out with a couple of likely looking spots in G.E. and that was at the time the Geochecker was down for a couple of days. Now that seemed to take an eternity get back online and when it did I had to go back to the drawing board. Kept working places out which were wrong and eventually had to bite the bullet and email the CO.

After a nudge I couldn't believe it. I had one of those, "How the hell did I miss that" moments.

Nice little park here. Sat for a bit trying to work out another puzzle before leaving.

Thanks for the puzzle and hand in getting me over the line Mr Donut.

Once at gz took a while to find very well hidden cache

Can only claim a traditional find since Mickeydv solved the puzzle and emailed the coords. I can claim the find though, and I loved the cache so am happy to award a fav pt for the cache. So simple yet so effective. The puzzle (and most other geocaching puzzles!) sadly still does nothing to interest me. Thanks for the cache duncdonut73.

have been staring at this one for ages as it is on my daily route to work.
Finally swallowed pride and emailed CO for pointer.
Then eveything fell into place, quite straightforward really, but then aren't all puzzles when you've solved them.
Initially searched wrong location but as GPSr settled down I was lead straight to it.....well hidden.
Good job Dunc, stoked to finally cross off list.

Had some serious help with the puzzle along the way, but finally got the congratulations message. A very tricky puzzle. Then with the given hint thought it should be a pretty straight forward find, but foiled again! Found the spot with dusk closing in, along with persistant drizzle ... had a good search ... and only found another bluey!

22-Jun-11
After barking up the wrong tree, in the wrong parks, I got a nudge in the right direction and everything fell into place. Headed out in my lunch break for a simple but well hidden find. TFTC.

18-Jun-11
We needed a prod in the right direction to start the puzzle but once we had that it was plain sailing. Today we found the cache but not until we had returned to the car to read the hint on the geochecker page Smile. Thanks for the well thought out puzzle and the hunt dunc.

I had solved this one some time ago and decided to stop by on the way to the airport. It is a sneaky hide but I found it. SL TFTC dunc.

Overnight changes were made to the website so I've made some changes to the cache description so your eyes can hopefully cope with my choice of background image.

I've also thrown in some subtle and not so subtle hints. One of these has been near the top of the page for some time ... Wink

16-Mar-11
When this was first released I guessed the cipher type pretty quickly, then put in almost every keyword under the sun, but didn't get anything sensible back, so I put it aside. After bsurin had solved it I came back to have another go at it, and after a lot more keywords I finally stumbled on the right one. I have no idea what the information regarding the keyword on the cache page means or how it relates to the keyword I got.

Well, as bsurin mentioned, then there was another twist, and I headed down the wrong path for a while, until finally I had the lightbulb moment, and voila - coords! The hint on the geochecker made for an easy find in the first place I looked Smile

Thanks for the puzzle and the cache dunc!

11-Mar-11
Hint added for the hide...

08-Mar-11
This was a well-constructed puzzle and an excellent hide. Identifying the cipher was easy enough, but finding the keyword turned out to be a little tricky. I spent at least a day heading down the wrong path, before changing tact. Even then, I eliminated every keyword I could think of before trying one I actually thought was incorrect. As it turned out, this attempt not only led me to the correct word, but also taught me an interesting fact, and made me realise that some things have indeed changed over the years. However, the solution to the cipher only presented another of my brother’s tricks, and it took me another hour or so to find the correct coordinates.

After thinking about whether or not to search for the cache, I eventually decided to have a go. The cache itself turned out to be as challenging to find as solving the puzzle, and it took me a considerable amount of time before I finally located it. During this time, I also took the opportunity to have a look around the place we lived and played for over twenty years, and it certainly brought back a lot of good and bad memories. Thanks for the puzzle and cache Dunc. FTF was around 5:20pm.

04-Mar-11
OMG! First to solve I think. But it did have a little to do with the fact that I lived with Duncdonut73 for many years, which helped me to figure out the keyword. I solved the first part easily enough, but was then confronted with a twist. Tried the obvious before expanding the search, and finally found the right solution. Given my 'inside knowledge', I'll leave the FTF for someone else, but don't take too long...

04-Mar-11
Congratulations.

( Being brothers may be an advantage but I wouldn't wait to go for it if it was me. Twisted )
