A little day to ourselves in Whakatane found us the perfect opportunity to explore this neck of the woods! A great day trekking along the Nga Tapuwae o Toi track with some spectacular views, whilst picking up these caches at the same time. A fun Greek lesson at the same time!
This half of the track was considerably less busy than the first half, so we were able to grab the finds quickly. Thanks for the hide!

[green] Home for Christmas. Well, sort of. Home is actually Palmerston North, the rest of the family are in Rotorua, and now I am off to Opotiki with mum to catch up with the rest of the family who left for the beach a few days ago, staying at the Tirohanga Campground. I haven't swum in the ocean for years!! Got here yesterday after caching most of the way up from Rotorua, with the exception of Kawerau to Whakatane. The wind slammed the car door shut on mum's hand, and so we had to get it checked out. No bones broken, luckily, but plenty of other crush injuries. Time will fix them easily enough.
Day after the day after Christmas. I borrow my sister's car to spend a day on the hikoi o Nga Tapuwae o Toi.
I got so annoyed with missing out on Secret waterfall (the COs terrible coordinates, misread the description and was looking for a large) that I also missed stairway to Heaven, which was on my hit list as it is a missing month, and walked past nu, mu, and lambda. I walked back for lambda and mu, the rest hopefully I will be back for. Mu and lambda are done now, things are back in order.
Turning out to be a hot sunny day - nice!
Thanks for the cache, and Merry Christmas from the Seagnoid!

A trip from Rotorua to Whakatane (for a Greek Lesson) and then on to Tauranga. Another lovely day on the road and a few caches to boot. Thanks for placing them.
...and it keeps climbing! Definitely need to keep working on fitness. Apart from that, easy find.
Fantastic views up here today but a very chilly wind when exposed to it.
Many thanks

Was in Whakatane for the long weekend with the family and mother in law. Decided to get up early and do the TGC walk while the rest of the house was still fast asleep. Did the required reading the night before and headed out as the sun started rising to commence the walk. Did not have too many troubles finding the caches I looked for. Only problem was I misjudged the length of the walk and the caches I was going to do on the way back I had to skip as need to be home by 10am. TFTC and for getting me out into the bush again! Really enjoyed the walk even though it did make me realise I am not as fit as I thought I was
Another nice quick find. We didn't need the hint for this one. We already knew where it was, the Rewarewa tree. TFTC
Honey is a favourite food for Pooh and friends so we are enjoying all these Rewarewas !!

Good descriptions and hints, easy to find, excellent weather, caching is fun. Thanks CO
Found today as we walked this end of the Toi track to finish it off after walking the Whakatane end in Dec 2013. TFTC
We do a part of the Kohi Point Walkway today. It's very windy, sunny and warm. Easy found.
We do enjoy the walk and the views very much. Our last one from the Grece Series.
Thanks CO

0345 This is the type of cache series that I LOVE! Great track, basically can't get lost, good satellite coverage, great views even at night, and logical spots where the caches are hidden, with well thought out clues. Good coordinates again, sorry the correct site marker won't fit.

Another great day in this corner of paradise. With just one more day before heading on I thought I would grab a couple more while out there. Nifty hide. TNLN

Ninth cache of many that I found today on the Nga Tapuwae o Toi (in the footsteps of Toi) track. The excellent hints ensured that no time was wasted. At this point I was aware of the tide status, so it was important to keeep a move on to ensure that I didn't flood my new tramping boots.TFTC.
The nineth of the caches we found on the walkway. This was a great series. Good clues, easy finds (as they should be) and the incentive to do the walk.
Ahhh, a rewarewa - Now we know what this is! I guess we should have thought a little more about why the Geckoh series was starting at the other end but we found out soon enough when we got to the top of the stairs !
Teamed up with Spiderhouse to try and knock off a few more Eastern Bay caches. The weather held long enough for us to launch our assault...
On a mission to find the TGC caches. If there's one thing we've learnt from this series of caches, it's how to identify Rewarewa. Took a moment to find this specimen and then we were away. TFTC.

Out for the day with Squirrel Nutcase for an assault on Geckoh territory. Why can't I grow Rewarewa like this at home?
Thanks Geckoh.
Thanks Geckoh.
I'm liking this one. A quick turnaround. Great to see the steps I turned my ankle on last time I ran through here! Made for a very enjoyable last half of the race. Today is a little more leisurely. In fact, I now have to slow down and let the little old ladies get well ahead or we will be doing some more tag team caching. TFTC

Kiwi69 and I decieded that this was our challenge, so made an early start for Whakatane from home. It's The day is a warm one. Each time we round a corner we are grated by even more amazing views
Well worth the early start to the day

Out & about caching in Whakatane with C&D, with Toi's circuit as our main objective for the day. Beautiful walk with the most amazing views. Beginning to wonder if every Rewarewa has a cache behind it .... TFTC.
Day 3 of the trip home to Christchurch, Whakatane to Te Araroa. A quick find with WEKA team. GPS was a bit out. Thanks for the hide
Thankyou Geckoh for all those Caches we picked up of yours today, very good walk from "Westend to Hillcrest.TFTC
Found quickly by one of the kids. It was so great to have another geocache to look for every 300m or so, the kids really got into it. TFTC
What a beautiful spring day for a walk along the Toi track! Spring is definitely here.
A weekend in Whakatane was the perfect time to tackle this series.
Thanks for placing the caches along this trail, with (in our opinion) very accurate coordinates and difficulty/terrain ratings.
Thanks for the wonderful series.

And this marks our turning around point... the rest we will get from the Ohope End another day.
Have decided I must get a small book on trees - am getting better at them, but room for improvement
Finished off the series today. Really good fun finding them. Soon had this one located. SL TFTC
Completed the whole series. Enjoyed the walk and views of all the bays. The weather held up well too thankfully. No caches posed any real difficulty's. Thanks for bringing me here.
We're getting spoiled with all the nice caches on the way! Easy find.

We were in Whakatane on a lovely sunny day & ideal weather for such a challenge. The hint was most helpful which made for a quick find. Now onto the next cache in this challenge.
Out for Saturday jog – haha, walk, jog, walk, slip, climb, jog, walk etc…
Why did I start at West End ? I know it’s harder this way – definitely more ups.
Yip there it was thanks- actually enjoying my jog about now - thinking about all the down to come
