Nice found today on the tour around the area. Its a nice walk and very educational. Unfortunately the track is not maintained at all and hard to read at times. Regular up keeping would enhance the experience at this beautiful location.Thank you for the cache sayTeam sissifalke

We had a nice morning in the area picking up some smileys and this is one we found. As others have said it is a shame that the trail of plaques is so overgrown. We fought our way through and with good coords soon had the log out for signing. Thanks isthmus for placing this one.

FastEd 59 I found your cache Robbie's Tree on 4/4/2023, 11:35 am. This is my find 4929 and find # 1 today. Returned to search again after there was a find after my DNF. Obviously I missed a plaque in the undergrowth. Found it after another search around. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN

TFTC, and thanks to your Mum for planting some trees.
I recently saw a sign that said
" the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second best time is now"
Sage advice
Took ages to find this as GPS was sending us in circles. Previous log mentioning a magnet made us do one more search and BL found it under some prickly vines

Because we were close by, Shazzar66 and I finished the daylight looking for this cache. It was just on sunset, and there is always ‘just one more close by’,which I assume is a common cacher’s phrase. I know it’s common for Shazza66 & I.

Taking the paths that were shown on the map from the Letterbox cache, the path degenerated from gravel path, to grass, to full-on bush towards GZ. Once we got there, with twilight still working in our favour, we started searching around. More searching, less light. More searching, to the meagre light of our phone torches (we’ve often said we should bring torches, but of course rarely/never do).

As darkness descended, I went back to our starting GZ location while Shazza66 travelled further afield. I had an idea, and looked in less obvious spots, and there it was. Almost hidden by vines and grass, and by the darkness.

Mission accomplished, we had our last find for the day. It’s a shame that this little path is now untended, because it’s a lovely tribute to some hard workers.

After the CITO event in Kedron, Chamad was happy to have a day off caching with me. Between covid isolations and working way too much, it has been hard to get together for a whole day of caching.

Chamad was on a mission. I was happy to tag along as I knew that whatever he wanted to get, it would be an unfounded for me.

Although these areas were risky with caches being possibly washed away, it was great to be able to confirm for COs that these ones are all OK.

Weeds were up to my head so it was a little daunting A shame this pathway is not maintained. There are no longer any plaques at all. But I am grateful I could use the posts to guide my way back to the main path.

20-Mar-22
After the CITO event today, I had a plan for the rest of day to grab 6 multi’s in a day for a challenge. As triple turmoil had a free day, she joined me in a drive around, which was good as two heads are better than one when working on multi’s.
There was some driving involved in today’s event as the multi’s were scattered from Chermside to Petrie to Joyner to Dayboro. Then there was the actual multi waypoints as well so it was a long day, but a lot of fun. We managed to get all 6 and a couple extras along the way. The hard part of the day was working through the different types of multis and trying to stay on track with them all.

A walk to a nearby cache saw us walking to this one next. An easy find here today. We signed the log and moved onto the next cache in the area.

Was badly overgrown and such a shame they are not looked after . Almost gave up but search low not ground level and a magnetised box grabbed our attention

Glad to have this one done and dusted.

24-Oct-21
Today, I joined jesswrigley and extended family with a leisurely walk around Old Petrie Town. We had planned on visiting earlier in the week, but with subsequent planning that Sundays held the markets, we deferred our outing until today. We completed the *A Walk Around Old Petrie Town (Whereigo)* adventure whilst checking out the stalls and historical buildings, and I then returned back home visiting a few other interesting geocache locations in the area. I also managed to complete *Pine Rivers War History* Adventure Lab whilst visiting its final Location, which was interesting.

I ventured along the bushland tracks, and then I followed a footpad that geocaching.com's trails map had told me existed, but it was barely observed with the various weeds growing around it. I passed by a few empty plaques, and upon arrival, there were a few more empty plaques scattered around. After searching four and no sign of a cache, the fifth one was the charm. It is a shame that there hasn't been any care or maintenance of these plaques, and it looks like this area has just been left to fend for itself. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. A nicely camouflaged container, although the size is only micro, not small as listed. Thanks isthmus for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

We enjoyed reading the description of this one. What a lovely dedication Geocaching and Hyde. It was quite interesting to see so many plaques, none of which have any information on them any more. That is a bit sad.
We were happy to come for a walk here and also happy to sign the log.

Find #3001

Couldn’t go past a cache that has your own name in it...

So we saw plenty of plaque holders but not many plaques... made us wonder why the area has fallen into such disrepair... we walked in one way and out a completely different way so no geotrails by us...

The container was in pieces wrapped in the remnants of a snap lock bag, so I replaced the container and added some magnets... putting the log into a new snap lock bag... I hope this meets with the COs approval...

Tftc...

Sharpem and I were out collecting smilies. We found the letter box cache not far from here. By now it was getting very hot but it was only a short walk. At gz we spotted the cache on the ground. The lid is broken but thanks to a previous finder it is safe in a plastic bag. We put it back according to the hint. Thanks for taking us here and for placing this cache here for us to enjoy

My house is full of the neighbourhood children so I've left them with Sandra and headed out for some peace and quiet and to collect caches for the Mystery at the Museum series.

Nice quick find but had to walk through the bush to reach GZ and the path was a little hard to find. Nearly stumbled on this on my out.

Thanks!!

This is so sad that no one has maintained the pathway and the plaques. Even worse that people would want to vandalise plaques placed in memory of others. Cache was easily found after a bit of a bush bash - much of the area is overgrown.

Out for the day with nikid1. I'd been to this area previously but hadn't made it to this cache that day so was good to get back & change this one to a smilie. I really don't understand why people vandalise things, such a shame most of the plaques have gone from this area. A lovely way to remember your Mum.

Well I must have been a really good girl because I was let out of work today and I'm sure it was due to good behaviour, yes? Anyway having been given an early mark, I had one vital mission to achieve before the end of the school day - to find a cache for my blank calendar day.
A quick snoop at the map and I wanted one a little further out that the closest to home or work areas, but still close enough I wouldn't have to worry about having to rush. Well I noticed this one and decided it had to be the cache for today. And with Mothers' Day only a couple of days away, the timing was pretty good too.
I opted to park the car in the nearby dead end street and wander down - well the neighbourhood dogs certainly knew I was there and sent the message along the line with their Paws Code. Soon I had a choice - head off track and start a bushbash of follow a little trail around which might get me closer. I opted for the trail, but it didn't get me any closer in the end. My open street maps suggested there should've been a trail virtually leading directly to the cache but it looks like this is the area bush maintenance forgot, and it was time for me to suck up the very long grass and head on in. Even more obvious that the area had been neglected for a while was that no matter where I turned I found spiders web after spiders web.
Thankfully soon enough I also found Robbie's cache and signed the log. It's a shame none of the memorial plaques have been maintained here, I can only imagine what the area once looked like when someone was in charge of maintaining it, and the history of the volunteers here would have been quite interesting and varied I'm sure.
Thanks for the cache FastEd 59.

After a paddle out on Lake Kurwongbah this morning with Crookedpete, Swellerfungus, LadySim, and Dez(JeznDez) I headed out to grab a few more caches before heading for home.

I was in two minds as to the best location to access this cache from. Coming to a final decision, I parked the car and headed off for a short walk, electing to take a small bush bash to shorten the route. A shame to see the plaques missing after a lot of obvious hard work setting up the mounting stands. Cache was quickly located, safe and well. TFTC

I give redcheeta the credit for finding this cache. We had to use the hint because we were running low on time, but the walk in the area along the bank of the lake was very peaceful and enjoyable. I will definitely come back to find more caches soon.

Unfortunately, we discovered that by now all of the signs have gone to the passage of time, leaving only the empty cases standing. Hopefully the area and the trees will be well cared for in the future.

I had parked nearby and was wandering in on the trail towards this cache. The map showed a track further down but I saw a geo-trail that was clear and led right to GZ. I followed it in and couldn't believe I found what can only be described as the remnants of an ancient civilisation.

I felt like I was in a graveyard. How could something like this fall by the wayside?

I was a little bit cranky because this sort of history should not be lost (except for maybe some high school history teachers. I wouldn't be against a culling if it was called for!). The more I looked, the more signs I saw that have been lost to the passing of time and being overgrown it was disappointing. Admittedly the sign cases didn't appear like they were meant to stand up to mother nature, but I was ready to take up the fight. tftc

Today is my birthday happy birthday gift was some fellow friends who are also cachers came to spend the day with me and hubby. As I needed my daily cache we chose this one which I had put off for a while thinking about the tree climbing attribute. At a nearby CITO event with Sezzz who also hadn't found this one, we decided to go for a short walk. We were joined by Fangsoki and Net88 also. This geocache's D/T rating got my attention. As we walked Fangsoki and I reminisced about memories of finding isthmus geocaches near Cairns a while ago.

Certainly an interesting type area, though it seems the pathway is no longer maintained. Not that it affects geocachers too much. With some guidance from Net and Fang who had found this before, a quick find was made. All ok here with this geocache. A nice tribute to your mother and all volunteers. Thanks for this geocache, isthmus Smile

Sunshine was out and so the adventure today involved a couple of events, 8/cache types in a day, and way way too much fun.

GadgetJack and I parked at the, er, wrong easement and so we walked past this cache on the way to the koala habitat planting soirée.

A fitting tribute to Robbie who must have been a wonderful person. I admire those who dedicate their time to preserving our unique wildlife and the beautiful landscape they live and survive in. We enjoyed the extra 500m or so to get to the event as it brough us past here, and the legs got a warmup stretch.

Out bike riding with my youngest geokid (5 yr old) in the Lake Kurwongbah area, and thought we would try this one out.

After a bit of backtracking along the track, we then realised this was a not quite "on the beaten path". Soon found the entry point, so we left our bikes and continued on foot and soon had the cache in our hands, signed and placed back as found. A shame the plaques / memorial has not been maintained, but a nice spot.

Appreciate the cache, thank you Fast Ed! Smile

I had come to try to find this and some other caches in the area last year, but from the signage I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be here. Since then however, I've spent time at Lake Manchester where they have the same signs and walking is permitted. Miss 12 had horse riding today, so I thought I'd visit. Heaps of walkers about, so I didn't feel so nervous. It didn't take me too long to find GZ and it was even quicker to spot the cache. Shame the volunteer memorial hasn't been looked after. All is good here. TFTC FastEd59 and isthmus Smile

I was enjoying my walk around this piece of bushland, so followed the tracks to this one. I was disappointed to see that the plaques are no longer there, even though the holders are still in place. At GZ, I quickly located the cache and signed the log. The container has a melted spot and there is no bag for the log which could allow moisture in. It does look as though the log may have been "eaten" by something in one spot, or perhaps it was burnt when the container was damaged. Thanks for bringing me to this lovely bushland. I really do wish that I could have read more about the volunteers who had helped our here. TFTC
