I gathered some numbers recently but didnt have the necessary TOTT to access the cache. I returned today and although my TOTT was not quite long enough, I made do. Needless to say my instructor at my Working From Heights training would have been bitterly disappointed with my cache retrieval technique. But thankfully I walked away unscathed. A favourite point from me. Thank you Enyd Frog, for placing The Magic Faraway Tree for the geocaching community.# # #15130 # #
Thanks Freddo for the cache. Having a great day out with Wayne's ladder and pole, and OzGuff and makingpie.
I tagged along with the second half of ozguff and pie_moms pole and ladder caching adventures. There was lots of fun to be had and a heap of new skills like pole fishing to learn. Not to mention a lot of cache finds that I never would have been able to get without tagging along. An awesome but tiring afternoon Tftc
I had attempted this one a few months ago, but didnt have the right TOTT. We rectified that today! makingpie and pie_mom and I had a ball with this one! The TOTT made our lives much easier!!
Two Confused looking Puzzlers planned a Wednesday Wander.Ttrogg picked up the Rat from her nest. They headed towards the city, then west and north. This multi has been on my find list for years.Today was the day to find it.We came equipped with the right extendable legs. Ascended to the heavens.Found the cache, stamped the logbook. It took longer to close the cache than it should have. Tftc
Last day in Adelaide. Received an early morning flight postponement which meant I could spend more time caching, an extra 5 hours to be exact. For the remaining BOLD circus troupe, numbers got smaller as the day went on until just Ardom and I were left to hold up the airport bar. Our timing at the airport was off, only catching the last 5 minutes of NRL games being telecast from Las Vegas. But the beer we had was cold.At this precise moment this cache was collected, there were 3 BOLDies left with Chamad scheduled next to leave. The rough plan was to slowly make our way back to the airport and collect caches while going for a sunday drive. After a diplomatic incident nearby it was time to look at stories that my grandkids want me to read to them. Its a bit of a haze but this cache title is very much like one of the stories I've read in the last 100 days. As with any good kids book, there was ahappy ending here, thanks Freddo for supporting up and coming kid's book authors.
OH NO! It is my last day! So I have thoroughly enjoyed my caching in South Australia. The weather has been great, the people have been great, the food has been great, the countryside has been great, the wines were great and the caches were great. You could say I had a great time. Just a few caches today before I board a plane and head back to the heat and humidity. Cars dropped off and bags packed, lucky I still have a cacher with an extra late flight. We drove around Adelaide collecting target caches before being dropped off at the airport. The caches were signed and replaced as found, a great way to finish off a great weekend, actually it was a week. There is so much more to still get, until I return.
Find # 11900Well here it is, time for another MEGA, and an extra special one to. Its a leap year! So before the main event I decided Id head down to Millicent and surrounds to collect some geoart, and some of the all important (to me) SFE challenges Day 8 and another not so hot day today. Today is an out and about around Old Norton Summit Road collecting SFE challenges and miscellaneous others with isopeda, Joolay, and KittyKatch. Then back into the city where we were sitting out in the front veranda having drinks when along came McLookers with the most sturdiest TOTT I ever did see! Fortuitously in fact as I was about to head out into the reserve to do the exact same retrievals. Perfect timing. So much easier with a few people. Then out to do a few randoms around the city to fill DT loops. All caches expertly located, retrieved, signed, and replaced. Thanks Freddo for The Magic Faraway Tree
A late-night decision to take advantage of cheap airfares for dates less than a month after moving to Canberra committed me to a hectic 48 hours of geocaching and the most intensive stats-chasing I must've done to date!Despite having visited South Australia before, I'd never actually ventured into Adelaide and had plenty of fun being guided around it by some great geocaches.Secret deals done with RoamingHowie secured me a seat in his car for leap day itself (and I somehow ended up in charge of the day's itinerary in the process) as we ventured across Adelaide alongside TheBelgianKet, OzHockeyChick, GeoTurtle37 and Papi4506 for some shenanigans of MEGA proportions!I'd sorted out the multi component from home and landed on some fairly convincing coordinates that the 4WDs had plenty of fun accessing. Some thorough searching took place there before another member of the group realised they had slightly different coords which, luckily, were more correct than mine were!A more obvious hide was found there and the ladder was extended to reach it - pretty neat set-up here with a DT that ought to help in leap days of the future! Thanks to Freddo for the hide!
In Adelaide for the Great Leap Forward MEGA event and have travelled from Queensland to attend.Met up with fellow Qlders to cache around the many Adelaide parks grabbing interesting D/T caches, variety of types etc.Luckily we had all the TOTT's and made a quick catch and release of this cache after signing the log.TFTC Freddo
RoamingHowie, Brain, Geoturtle37, TheBelgianKet, OzHockeyChick and myself set off in a couple of vehicles to find as many of the Feb 29th add-ons as we could.Having what was needed, we made a quick find at GZ. Thanks for placing the cache for us to find.
This was one of the many on our Feb 29th list. Pleased that our group made a quick find once we had all that was needed. Thanks for placing the cache for us all to enjoy.
Day #9 Leaping Forward AdventuresLeap day is finally! A busy jam packed day is ahead. Traveling around with TheBelgianKet, Brain, OzHockeyChick, GeoTurtle37 and Papi4506.A multi affair here. We wandered a few locations before locking in on the correct one and deployed the right TOTT. Enid Blyton was one of my most favourite childrens authors and I loved these series of books. Thanks Freddo for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy. ----------------------------------------------------------The Ballarat GeoTour ends on 4 March 2024! Be sure to find all the caches and earn the souvenir before the tour is archived. The [Farewell Ballarat GeoTour Event - GCAFQ8B](https://coord.info/GCAFQ8B) is on 18 February 2024.Looking for caches to find when visiting Victoria? Why not check out the geocaching lists available on the [Geocaching Victoria Website](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists/). There are plenty to choose from including all of the previous nominees and winners of the Victorian Cache of the Year Awards.
Found during a somewhat spontaneous and impromptu trip to Adelaide for 'The Great Leap Forward' Mega Event. Made the most of the unique opportunity and had a very memorable experience! Teamed up with Loci612, DARKSIDEDAN and pantspeople. Thanks to all Cache Owners for their contribution to the game.TOTT deployed for an ammo can! Nice. TFTC
Teamed up with RoamingHowie, Brain, Papi4506, Geoturtle37 & TheBelgianKet to explore Adelaide, setting our sights on various types and leap day add-ons.This was next on our list, and was soon converted to a smiley. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, Freddo ~~
**Today**Leap Day has arrived! Today myself, DSD, Muppet95 and pantspeople teamed up for a whole day of fun! With the mega event opening up at 10am, we decided to spend the morning cleaning out the city as much as we could. 8-12pm was on foot walking around the city, successfully finding two webcams, more virtuals + ECs than we could count and whatever physical caches we could grab on the way! Afterwards, we spent some time at the mega venue doing all the labs + getting goodies & refreshments to get out of the sun for a while! The afternoon was spent driving from street to street picking up as many epic caches on our list as we could, caching until we were exhausted! Thanks to all the COs -**This Cache**I really find it quite incredible that this container & cache hide in such a part of Adelaide has lasted 13 years without any maintenance! I think here in ACT we overestimate the power of muggles, and try to hide our caches too well & we dont be more brave very often and hide larger containers in busy spots! Maybe that needs to change, because it often seems to work just fine! Well done on this cache hides lots of fun! Our smaller ladder only just reached, I had to stand pretty high on it and be careful with the retrieval and replacement!
Hey another cache found by DARKSIDEDAN. Signed DSD. Thanks heaps for the cache and the adventure.
With an intrepid group of mostly ex-Queenslanders, we converged to seek out some old, interesting, or high D/T caches around Adelaide. The day started in the subterranean world, where we battled creepy crawlings, tight spaces, and bad backs. Mission accomplished, coffee and breakfast was the highest priority.Next, we set off in 3 cars, navigating Adelaides traffic snarles, collecting smilies with ladders, poles, or whatever was required. It was a great morning catching up with some awesome people we have really missed caching with. Just like old times. This was a great find. Tftc
Bit of nostalgia for us with this cache - Magical Faraway Tree is a good childrens book that we remember fondly. Given where we parked, the final tree did feel pretty far away, particularly carrying the ladder. Good weight training I guess. The final hide was kinda magical, with Loci612 doing the ascent. Had to watch out for the bees on the backside of the trees though. Cheers --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their long lasting, and ongoing connections to land, sea and community. We (the pants people) pay our respects to Traditional Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
On completion of our tunnel adventures earlier today, followed by a refreshing morning tea, we decided to grab some local caches whilst we had a selection of ToTs between us all.Joined by geo friends, domsky, E_Smiley, Tenkae & patrol14, we had an action-packed day. Thanks, and well done on this good multi and hide Enyd Frog ??Apologies for the late logging!
Find in Adelaide with one of the Canberra groups. Log signed as SALI24 for South Australia Leap Invasion 2024. Tftc
We used to love the Magic Faraway Tree as children. How I wished for one of those trees in my own backyard. Distances and numbers sorted, we made our way to GZ as a small party of Queenslanders or X-Qlders. At GZ, the Hide was spotted very quickly, but we realised we would need a special TOTT to retrieve this one. Back to the car, to deployed and the log signed by everyone. Thanks Freddo Domsky
Adelaide TripAttending the mega event for the weekend with a bunch of of Canberra mates. Signed as SALI24 (SA Leap Invasion). A fun find and retrieval. Thanks for the hide Freddo
Nice pick up. Great to have the TOTT needed. Signing as SALI-24 South Australia Leap invasion with Kittykatch, Albida33, barb2e, isopeda and Lafavoritecacher from Georgia.Down for the Great Leap Forward. Looks like a lot of people are. Day 1 arrivalThanks for getting me out and about Freddo
Day 5 of my Great Leap Forward 2024 trip. Snaking my way around the countryside.Today I joined half the Canberran Caching Community to start the urban caching proper.Signing as SALI24 (SA Leap invasion 24) - this being barb2e, albida33, Kittykatch, Joolay, LaFavoriteCacher and me.Always like a different way of working out coordinates.TFTC
Find # 13715I'm in the Adelaide area for the Great Leap Forward event. Not just for the days event, but making it a week long trip of caching n catching up with mates.Found with sharkiefanSigned as FUSHDay 4. After being out to Mannum for an event. Then onto a couple of short trails. And stopping for the odd icon on the map. We were back cityside, freshed up and ready for some more finds. Had this one on my list as a DT needed for a potential 5th loop.Armed with local knowledge from AnyMules and my sturdy ladder, I managed to get up under torchlight and sign the log. TFTC Enyd Frog
Adelaide Leap Day trip. Day 5. The team of Canberran cachers I am spending the weekend with arrived today so there was an effort to target caches of key DT and locationally near the southern edge of the city parklands. I managed to squeeze in one cache before I was joined by Joolay, Kitty Katch, Isopeda, barb2e & Lafavoritecacher. Today we signed at SALI24 for South Australian Leap Invasion 2024. We did a few ladder caches, quite a few pole caches whilst walking and driving sections of the parklands. With that part of the list done, we headed into Burnside for some lanes and some puzzle caches before heading to accommodation. The day ended with a fantastic event at Bonython park followed by dinner in North Adelaide. Having completed the multi last year, I had seen this cache, but was completely unprepared for what I found. Today, we trooped in, tool in hand and made short work of the retrieval. That was great. Thanks for the cache Freddo45587.2 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 10000 Finds A#252**Albida**
Today was the first day of my geocaching adventures in Adelaide with Kittykatch, Isopeda, barb2e, Joolay, and Albida33 henceforth known as SALI24 (South Australian Leap Invasion 24) which is how we signed the logs in the caches we found.I wondered what geocaching would be like with a group of folks here in Australia. It did NOT disappoint. They are well prepared, great finders, intrepid hunters and climbers, and just a whole lot of fun. They are also incredibly kind and patient as they took me along at a fast pace. They remind me a lot of the wonderful friends I cache with at home. It was hot today (much hotter than the winter temperatures I left in the U.S.) but we often found shade and enjoyed the breezes as we trekked into and out of the beautiful green spaces and neighborhoods we visited for the caches.Kittykatch showed off her fishing skills for this cache and soon had the cache in hand. I LOVE the TOTT she had brought. I want to make one of my own when I get home!Thank you for the smiley and the fun!
Found at night with FUF009 and AnyMules. Today was all about Mannum and the surrounding area. It was a very warm day. We found lunch at Walker Flat. What a great place to find when you're hungry and thirsty. I had hoped to be out of the heat by mid afternoon, but it ended up being dinner time by the time we got back. Headed into the city for an event and found more caches. All caches were found without issue. Tftc
The Magic Faraway Tree1.5/5.0 Regular Multi-cache Back in Adelaide after 14 years. Here for The Great Leap Forward Mega and catching up with awesome caching friends and revisiting Adelaide where we lived for 16 beautiful years! Had a wonderful time reminiscing and admiring wonderful changes in the State, meeting friendly cachers and helpful COs and finding quality caches, high D/Ts and old ones with Tenkae, domsky, Snickersallan and Patrol14. Thank you for the cache Enyd Frog.
I was walking around Adelaide, looking for highly rated geocaches. This one came up. And I got to the right coordinates and made the projection. And then I found the container. But not really.I would never claim one that I hadnt signed, so Ill just say that I enjoyed the journey, even though Im not getting the .As I am from the United States, Im unlikely to get back here with the appropriate tools. But thanks for placing a fun geocache!
Got the coordinates today and took my brand new TOTT on the journey to the cache and wow thats high!!Got my geowife to support me from below and then I went up, signed the log and came down in one piece! An awesome experience!!TFTM!!
Sent WayneAPN a message last night about heading to Victor Harbour for a few caches and he jumped on board quicker than Jack Flash
So here we are collecting some high terrain caches (tree fishing pole and ladder at the ready) as well as a few others along the way

Finally logged this one after coming back with the right equipment. A bit scary to reach! TFTC.

Got the final for this a long time ago and had visited the area several times. Brought the required TOTT and revisited but quickly realised that I needed a bigger TOTT. That now obtained, it was only a matter of time before the stars aligned and I> could make the find.
Had loaded up the TOTT in the Geomobile last week and left them in a convenient spot so I could one day soon target a few High T caches. Today at lunchtime was the targeted day. Loaded the car with the TOTT and drove to the site. Parked at GZ and unloaded. Was the TOTT big enough? Unfolded the TOTT, erected and ascended. Just managed to reach the spot, open the cache and retrieve the logbook. Took it down to stamp the log and then back up to replace and one handed, close the cache container. Finally glad, after about 4 years to get this one off the books. And another square on the grid now filled.

Another cache that made us pleased we had packed our Tools Of the Trade before leaving Tassie, after a bit of searching we used them to the max to get to and sign the log.
Thanks for the cache.
This was the Mega trip that started out as a simple trip to St Arnaud for just the Mega and turned into a mega road trip starting with myself and GooseandEgg flying into Adelaide to collect a rental 4WD so we could drive an indirect route to St Arnaud and then on to Melbourne so we could fly home again.
The Goose had put a lot of planning into the trip so we could both complete or get close to completing our D/T grids, collect a number of good interesting caches and cache types we didn't have many off.
For me this was the best organised Mega I have been to, the stand out was how the committee had managed to get the whole St Arnaud community to welcome us all to the area, just about everyone we meet knew what we were there for and I had no awkward moments explaining what Geocaching was.

We were concerned that our tool may now have been long enough but a bit of tree hugging and a steady hand was enough to reach the cache. I was hoping to meet Saucepan Man but he must have been tucked up in bed.
Thanks for another one Freddo
When planning the St Arnaud mega trip I was keen to incorporate some missing D/T’s from my grid. Stainless steel rat suggested flying to Adelaide ‘on the way’ and driving across so a route was planned and a fun week of caching began. I cherry picked in my planning so as not to run out of time for the ones I wanted, and we added a few on the day if there was time. We met up with various teams along the way including a planned rendezvous with Tassie Trekkers in Kaniva for a fun days caching. I ended up with around five hundred finds (including labs) for the week, and still had plenty of time for socializing along the way. It was great to catch up with some old friends and of course make new ones.
Special thanks to the St Arnaud mega committee for a great weekend.

This is what happens when magical faraway folk get together. One of them is bound to have the right ingredients for a potion on them. This one has been on my ‘so close and tantalisingly yet so far’ list since I started visiting this magical land of caching. We didn’t find Moonface or Mr Whatsisname. Dame Washalot probably wasn’t far away with the amount of water around and I may have got a glimpse of Silky as the log book was retrieved. TFTC magic was created.
I have had this one on my radar for some time and when it was suggested, after today's confusion event, I walked with a group of enthusiastic cachers...
My job today...hold the ladder...I did it well as H423L did not fall down...
Thanks for the cache and the adventure Freddo

I have looked at this one numerous times, and thought I would never be able to retrieve the cache, but today after a nearby event a few of us came over here with the required TOTT thanks to Davidwazza. [^]
We didn't choose the best way to get to GZ as we ended up with very wet feet, but we made it and the TOTT was extended and H423L was soon opening the cache and retrieving the log which she brought down to us and the log was stamped by all, then another ascent and all was replaced as found.
I was happy to be part of this group and happy to have a smilie now.
Thanks for the cache Freddo.

I had the final co-ordinates for this, but hadn’t arranged the companions needed for retrieval (just for safety), so when this was suggested for a post-event find I joined the group and helped carry the TOTT (thanks [@Davidwazza](http://coord.info/PR61VZX) for the loan). [@H423L](http://coord.info/PRFZRKB) made the retrieval, while [@hevwalker](http://coord.info/PRD46RP) and I held the TOTT in place. To our astonishment she was whisked away to an amazing land full of people who looked normal but have a strange addiction to finding various sized containers in discreet (and sometimes obvious) places solely for the purpose of putting their stamp on a piece of paper and then returning the container to where it was found. Very strange. H423L managed to escape from this strange land and return to ground level where things seemed to be normal (sort of).

Have wanted to pick this one up for ages as I often walk past WP1 on the way to the Adelaide Showgrounds train station. Today there were lots of cachers congregated nearby getting in and out of a pajero, playing with navigation systems, eating lamingtons and extending ladders. So when it was noted that one of the ladders on show would be long enough to retrieve this one a gang of us got together and tripped over to GZ to make the find enmasse. A great team effort and thanks to H423L for making the nimble ascent up the tree. My contribution was carrying the ladder half way there. thanks to Davidwazza for the loan of the ladder.

Visited GZ a few months ago but as I didnt have a TOTT and Im not a professional pole vaulter nor a primate, I could only stare at this tantalisingly elevated cache.
Returned today with the necessary equipment and was able to drive right to GZ in the car. I could just reach the cache, which was grabbed with glee, and then happily signed the log.
I always enjoy a T5 cache - fav point awarded for the fun in getting this one - TFTC!

Yesterday while stopped in traffic we saw the start of another multi nearby. We did that one on the way home, but I saw this one and wanted to come back today. I had done some research on this one previously and knew we needed some TOTT. The park across the road was busy, but all eyes were on the balls! We managed to drive right up to GZ. Our TOTT was only just long enough - lucky Mr C is quite tall. He climbed up and just managed to reach to cache. I signed it, and climbed the ladder although I couldnt put it back. I dont like to sign a T5 that I havent climbed for. Thanks for a good excuse to drag out the TOTT again
I tagged along with Dad to try out his new telescopic ladder. Got a couple mosquito bites but was worth it. Great cache, thanks Freddo
Thanks enyd frog, indeed ignorance is bliss. My 4.1m ladder arrived today and this was the first on my growing list of out of reach caches. We turned up and needed torchlight. I ascended and gathered the book for signing at ground level. KTPops did the return trip to replace it. It was a stretch but made it safely. Woohoo I have now climbed a faraway tree. In the dark. Cache #1979. First find on the first day of 2019!
After finding 1978 caches, finally I found a 5-star-terrain cache!
Actually, we tried this cache yesterday (on the last day of 2018), but we did not find the cache. Why? I made a silly mistake in calculation. Luckily I attended CO's geocache event yesterday, and CO pointed out the right direction.
So today, I went back for another attempt. Took the risk of getting fine, and drove to the final cords. Cache has been spotted. Set up the equipment, and I can touch the container!
With one hand holding the tree trunk, I have only one hand to open the container. Oops! Thick spider webs. Carefully opened the container, with one hand; and carefully checked the goodies inside, with one hand. Found the TB I watched for a while (It's Showtime). Great! It unlocked another puzzle cache which belongs to the same owner.
Carefully signed the log book, as I do need both hands to do so. Took nothing but one TB. Then closed the container.
That's the highest I can reach, with current equipment. Took some risk of getting injured, but that worth it!
Thanks for the multi cache, Enyd Frog. A favourite point from us.

Today Davidwazza wanted to test out his brand new ladder. As we had completed the first waypoint awhile ago we made the trip to the final today. DAMN FREDDO why would you put something so high? Well luckily we had a 5.6m ladder and got to it without and worries.
This completes one more square on my D/T grid and not many to go before it is complete.

Had purchased a strategic telescopic ladder for geocaching as another tool to the tool chest. The 5.6 m seemed to do the trick for this one, and I was confident in its capability, even though all the previous photos seemed to indicate two strung ladders were the go.
Had wandered past the initial coordinates and worked out GZ more than nine months ago. Tonight with the Royal Show over, and light still around later after work, I coached gridge98 in coming with me to try out the ladder. The place was deserted, and we took the risk of driving quite close, even though it wasn't the clearest whether we were allowed or not. We assembled the ladder, and became quite bendy indeed. Nevertheless, we made the trek up to the cache, and grabbed the required contents for the cache. Gridge98 was particularly excited as it luckily had filled one of his second-to-last D/T grid squares.
We were mean sods and left the Showtime strategic TB in this cache. I've held on to it for a week, but just couldn't find the right cache within the radius to leave it. Hoping it gives the next person a nudge in completing this cache. Thanks Damn Freddo for the fun adventure, sort of, cheers.

An early start and with some items from Brad’s caching supplies on loan some maths was done and a likely location plotted. Only council muggles about and having a cloak of invisibility we blended in well as we carried the TOTT around. The TOTT was a little short of the mark but the prize was close and we managed a one handed opening after removing the spider webs. We added our mark and continued on. TFTC.
Until recently, I would never had been able to attempt this one however a ladder just long enough now tempts me skywards.
A dicey affair with an ammo box needing 2 hands to unlatch. No contents were spilled and only when the ladder developed an alarming spiral did I have cause for concern. At all times the trusty Goodlook kept me safe and terra firma was regained

After leaving a brekky at Ikea event, the lovely Feathertop and I set about finding some caches, Sal was the brave climber today and I remained part of the supportive ground crew as this tree was a doozy!!!
Thanks so much for the cache Freddo!

Caught up with Mr Froghoppin and Moneydork fo a couple of special caches.
This was on the radar, as both had brought some equipment to tackle the furthest of trees!
Up there where the birdies live, in the dark of the park

I stood at the bottom of this tree many years ago and said "I came, I saw, I shall return".
Today I returned, my name is now in the log.
Thanks to Enyd Frog for the puzzle and cache.

What a great cache this was. We headed to this one after an event where somebody had a telescopic ladder. A crazy night followed and it resulted with jinta29 scaling the tree here and adding our names.

What an adventure here getting this cache . Near death on the roads, near death up the ladder and a million laughs with the locals
I had been eyeing off an interstate trip for some time now and made plans to head to SA to power through the geoart trails over here . I roped in my geo buddy Krabiboy to join me and we set about solving [?] caches and highlighting Jasmer caches that aren't available over in WA. Our adventure took us from the CBD over to the Yorke Peninsula and then back across to the Murray Bridge area . We were relentless in chasing down the finds and picked up as many as we could in the week that we had available. Due to the park and grab nature of our visit, the log books which weren't able to accommodate the ink stamp we had made were signed with the initials 'jk'! Fave points will be awarded for those caches which are considered awesome
A massive thanks here to Freddo for placing this cache here and for tempting us to venture over to this area. Cheers!
jinta29 found your cache The Magic Faraway Tree today. This is my find #6518 and find #6 today. I was able to get my name in the log book here and we replaced the cache as we found it. Thanks once again Freddo for placing this and bringing us to this part of the world!

After a fantastic Cacher Meet and Greet at the Lockleys Hotel, a couple of car loads of happy Cacher's went off to grab some late night Ladder Caches. I made mention of this one, having done the solve work some time late last year but was never able to actually 'elevate myself to the next level'... the actual grab of the booty A very handy Telescopic ladder was employed and that elusive prize was ours [^].
A writing implement was the main issue of the night so another quick scale up and a pen was found in the cache lol. We, whom haven't found this one yet, signed the log at about 23:00 or there abouts on Sunday night, 23 April, 2017. The cache and contents are fine [^] TFTC Freddo

At GZ we teamed up with Brisal5 so that we could combine our caching tools, this was a very interesting situation. We now know that this can be done, so this solution could open up other cache sites. The cache is in good condition. SL TFTC
Muff1 were in town for a few days and we had spent yesterday afternoon night caching out in the Northern suburbs after attending an event there. This afternoon and nights target was caches in and around the city.
Decided we would meet at this cache. Wow netballers everywhere but there were more interested in what they were doing rather than what we were doing. Out came my portable telescopic elevation device. Too short. Out came Muff1's portable telescopic elevation device. Even shorter. If only we could combine the two. Out came a dozen cable ties and then two 750 kg rated ratchet straps. Looks solid enough. [^] But a bit bendy in the middle when weight applied.
Up I went. Log book grabbed and down I came so it could be signed safely on the ground. Back to replace the cache and then some disassembly required. Thanks Freddo. I have a few other caches in mind now where this technique can us used!

BONES needed this combo for his D/T grid. BONES ended up in a tree for the 2nd time in a week, at least the rain kept the muggles away but it also made the photo blurry as water got on the len.
I remember my mum reading this to us when we were kids, perhaps its were I get my facination for climbing things. Most of my own caches also seem to be in similar magical faraway locations..!

3rd time here with 3 different teams, every time I brought the right geo tool and was the one to climb it. dropped a sought after tb, lets see how soon its found now.
When I arrived, Brad had both his ladders set up, as well as metres of twine wrapped around the tree. What the hell was he up to?
"Houston, we have a problem"
From the look of things maybe the ladders weren't long enough. But they were nearly so.
Heck, they're close enough.
With Brad, bracing the ladder, I scaled to the 4th topmost rung and reached up. Hmmm not quite there. Then to the 3rd topmost... I could reach it! With my left arm tenacious gripping the branch, I reach across and levered up the catch. Snap. Then a yank to open the box.
Watchunder! Contents of the box tumbled out. Brad moved deftly aside to avoid the plastic policeman.
Grabbed the log and tossed it down, then descended to sign the thing on safe territory.
Once signed it was back up, with plastic policeman and then popped the log back in the box. One handed I carefully closed the box, and levered the catch back in place. Finished.
Back on the ground, we looked up and there was still unsightly twine wrapped around the tree. Back up again to return the Parklands back to its pristine condition.
That's the way it happened - Godstruth. Would I lie to you?
Thanks for the cache, Mr Freddo.

Malco! and I had planned a rendezvous to jointly deal with the challenges of the MFT.
I arrived first and was immediately drawn to GZ by the magic. I had come fully prepared with not one but two elevations devices. However when I set the first one up I realised there was a serious deficiency - it was too short at one end! So I got he second one out and blow me down but this one was too short at the other end!
What to do?
I sent the CO a photo the first one in situ and he promptly and helpfully replied with "Oh dear, your ladder is too short"
Plan B - If I can just chuck the ball of twine over the higher branch I can then use it to pull my climbing rope over the top which will allow the harness to be used.
Five tries later I finally got the ball over the correct branch. Unfortunately as I tried to pull it further it became caught and then the twine broke.
Repeated the throw successfully twice more with the same result each time.
At least the tree is looking quite festive now.
Then Malco! arrived. We discussed options. He elected to try the elevation device if I would steady it - a reversal of our recent roles at Ransom.
He climbed higher than either of us might have done alone and brilliantly managed to open the cache. Not too many things fell out and almost none of them hit me on the way down
Malco! descended again. The log was signed and then returned to the cache, which Malco! duly closed.
Between us we managed to remove all the festive twine and departed leaving the scene as we found it except that the cache log now has two extra names.

found with sir_spectre on a night run into the city. sir_spectre brought the right geo tool for the job and climbed up the tool to get the cache. dropped swag took bat key. fav point awarded and lucky for us no netballers. now off to do pancake kitchen . late log. my first cache of this type
Having access to someone with a ladder, who was also keen to do this one, we couldn't turn up the opportunity. The math put us slightly off, but a quick search around in the dark and the lights showed us the right type of container. Back with the car and the ladder, and up SirSpectre scurried and raining down came the contents. A sign of the log by the 4 of us and up everything was sent again to its place. I've wanted to do this one for a while, but didn't have access to a good height elevation device. Tonight, after doing another cache with Rod81w, SirSpectre and AnyMules this cache was mentioned, too good an opportunity to miss! We had worked out the coords but must have been off slightly. Rod climbed a likely tree and spent some time searching to no avail. A widened search with the torches revealed the correct hidey spot so the ladder was extended. Luckily SirSpectre's ladder is of the longer variety as it was definitely needed! The log was soon retrieved, signed and returned, without any of as getting wet by Dame Washalot. TFTC and the reminder of a childhood favourite story. A fav point for this one 9/10/2015 8:48 pm Find #765
What better to do on a friday night then drive around with a ladder on the roof climbing trees. Ah lets go do some caching, headed here after doing master bot with anymules, kiwiozzi and sir_spectre. Co ords had us at a likely tree so anymules hoisted me up and the search began, 10 mins later I look down and no one is there, oh there they are at the other tree thanks for leaving me up there haha. Sir_spectre soon had the cache and log signed.

rod81w wanted to go night caching, I wanted the ladder caches off my list and joined by anymules and kiwiozzie. after doing the maths a likely tree spotted, nope, 2nd try got us the tree. Lucky my ladder was extendable and I am tall. log was signed and cache returned with the nearby muggles playing there sports none the wiser.
Pretty easy terrain with the right tools. Grabbed on a day with a slight breeze and with the assistance of allister w. TFTC.
A desire to get the "Let's Get Extreme" souvenir meant that JMCH and I had our eye on this one for a while. I went with Megan63 a few weeks ago to calculate the coords for GZ, and was quite amused by the camo.
JMCH then acquired an extension ladder and a 'geomobile' to carry it in from a friendly muggle. Finally, Megan63, JMCH, jarh and I travelled to GZ, and sent a young member of jarh up the ladder under the cover of darkness, and a young member of jarh bravely climbed up.

Like Patrick22 and Megan63, I too visited visited this cache a number of weeks ago. Having sourced the gear we needed it then took a while to get everyone together on a dryish night. Thanks for the adventure Freddo.
Following some initial reconnaissance with Patrick 22 in July we embarked on a night time expedition with JMCH and JARH. Reluctant cacher, Neil, provided the essential extension ladder. TFTC
You have to love a driveby 5t cache in the CBD. Pulled up in carpark that was empty as the business was closed for the weekend. Fiddled round with the Gps and then went exploring to follow the arrow to go. whats this the gate is open and you can drive to go. Lots of cars parked in here today. Got there at 1341 and had the ladder off and back on the car by 1349. I really am slowing up these days. Mrs Parrot took pictures and Facebooked them while I was signing the log.
Such a nice day for finding caches of all types. Celebrating our seven year anniversary today, we chose to do what we enjoy doing most… exploring and finding caches, with the odd celebratory beverage in between!!
The Team had noticed that this cache had not been found for 51 weeks, so this morning it was out mission to get this one done. So we packed the ute with the gear needed and set off. We were lucky as there was netball games on so the gates were open and we were able to park right at it.
I was the dummy who had to take the steps... but it was all good, we got the job done
Thanks for the cache Freddo, Fav point your way

Can't believe this has not been found in 51 weeks. Then again it has been on our wishlist for longer as we did not have access to the Geocaching tools to do it.
With an associated phobia we also had to take Darknstormy along to deal with our phobia short comings.

After being promised tasty tasty num nums if I helped bek-theraccoon I thought how hard can it be to grab a cache from a tree. Very hard it turns out. Even when you find the right tree things aren't much easier. Our ladder was waaaaay to short and even standing on the very top rung I was no where near the cache. A quick rummage through the cachemobile and I was able to fashion stirrups out of tie down straps to give me the extra reach I needed. After we had the cache in hand num nums followed soon after. Coaxed the squirrel out of the nest with promise of food if he helped me find a cache. It worked
Having read previous logs, we came prepared with a ladder and promptly climbed the wrong tree.. oops! coords might have been a bit off
So, we cheated a bit and started to look for one that matched photos from previous logs (in the dark). It didn't take long to spot (was under 50m from the other one we tried) and the squirrel began to slink up toward the cache. Oh no! The ladder was too short and try as he might, the squirrel wasn't elastic enough to stretch another few metres!
So, using a couple of ratchet straps, the squirrel hoisted himself up to the cache and we claimed the smiley!
Thanks Freddo, this has been great fun!

Why use a ladder when you can make a much more difficult affair of the whole thing by using ropes! A fun time was had laughing at Scouter 101 as he made the first ascent of the tree. Good Friday was a great day to tackle this one as there was absolutely no one in the area. A fun if not quick cache. Grabbed the TB and left a favourite point.
