Thanks to all the owners of the geocaches that we found today on our way to Kaiteriteri, Marahau and Takaka. We enjoyed searching the caches and watching the beauty of this part of New Zealands Southern Island.
TFTC and greetings from Belgium.
TFTC and greetings from Belgium.
On todays agenda is a short drive up to Marahau and Kaiteriteri before heading into the direction of Piction to catch the ferry tomorrow. Also I had to cross the stream to make the find. TFTC
Both our GPSrs were showing the cache was in the water, so we were not sure which side of the bridge to be on. Most likely on the western side, we thought. In the end, we drove to a good parking spot on the Marahau side of the bridge and walked back across the bridge to GZ.
Didn't take long and soon we were signing the log book. TFTC.

#8663. A car was parked not far from GZ; I saw someone (possibly the owner) wading upstream, so he was well out of the way. Ineresting wee track and a quick find at GZ. TFTC.
For the sake of sanity we set off with sonia26642 for a crazy geocaching trip, aiming to cache until we drop. The main destination was Nelson and the ‘surrounding’ area, but then we ended up covering a few miles in three northernmost regions, plus a few in Canterbury. We were signing/stamping the log as 'Team Polak' or ‘TP’ for the two of us on this trip to save logbook space. We found a lot of different caches, city ones, road side, park side, up a hill and on an island, and we enjoyed every single one of them. It was good to be a professional thingfinder for a few days!
We started our adventures today kayaking, but decided to find another ‘few’ as at this stage we still did not know that the Bulk Finding Challenge has been archived…
We had great fun and are grateful to all CO’s who placed caches for us to find, and help restore our sanity before returning to our other non-geocaching lives!!

This was one of the most epic weeks ever, and definitely my most epic caching week ever.
Me and mum headed up on a holiday north to Nelson and very wider surrounds. In total during the trip, we found almost 500 caches! (470 odd I think, but final results are yet to be in! ) We covered about 3000 odd km I think too. Crazy! And had our absolute best caching day ever too at 160 found. Spend 9 days travelling, caching, and having the best time ever!!
So sorry about not so epic logs, as otherwise this would probably take me the rest of my life to log, especially with two big events to organise coming up! Eeek!!
Consec caching day # 700

Not the best day to be out and about but hey, beats sitting onyour bum at home. I have seen many whitebaiters here during the season. TFTC
Nice little hide, once I managed to walk along the correct side of the stream!! Cheers!!
Last cache of the day after a long walk from Marahau to the Anchorage and back. The cache was a quick find in the first place checked. Signed log, TFTC
[green] Down here from Palmerston North to visit one of my dads for Christmas. Bit of a family gathering actually. Went around to my Dad's place and borrowed his bike to cycle the Kaiteriteri loop.
Started off on the wrong side of the stream. Oops! On the right side I got to the cache okay and sat in the shade while doing the business. Dropped in a geocoin. A U-Turn coin, because here I do a u-turn and head into Kaiteriteri.

It was obvious the water had been very high recently but the cache container was above the water line.
A nice spot. TFTC

Could not find this anywhere even with the help of the clue. There has been flooding here recently and it looks to have been up as far as where the cache should be.
Makka pakka 2 went out to day caching in the Able Tasman National Park. Ten out of ten caches found. Walked into Coquille Bay for lunch on the beach. Had a lovely day in the park and the caches just made it so much more interesting on the way. TFTC
took me a wee while to find. a bit muddy there but lucky the water level was low so didnt get wet! lol
nice hide! TFTC

A lot of water around here today. Took a bit of a hunt to find this one.
We were here to bag a S41 00 this was it.

Followed the trapping trail....you can get rid of that needs maintenance log. Log book barely damp, (lot drier than others we saw today) , easily written on, as did those previous finders. It is fine as is.
Cheers for the cache

A short walk and wet feet to claim this cache. Although there is a clear track the grass and underfoot was too wet to stay dry for long. It took a bit of a hunt before we could sign the log. TFTC.
We were just not going to have a DNF here and with time on hand we weren't. Not sure if we made it harder than it should have been but the wet is gonna get the blame for that. TFTC
I'm pretty sure we tried to find this one two years ago when I was here for the first and only other time I've been here. This time it was soooo easy in comparison. Glad to tick it off. Cool wander to GZ. TFTC.
Nice spot along the bank offering a different perspective of the estuary. Those houses aren't going to get much sun between now and spring.

Found quickly this time. First time back to the area after a DNF at Easter 2011. TFTC.
Very enjoyable wander to find this cache and relief after 3 DNFs in a row. TFTC 4531
We found this cache early in the morning on the way from Abel Tasman National Park
to the Fox Glacier area. Nice and easy found.
Thank you for hiding and greetings from Germany!

Quickly found as this was the first on a guided tour around the area by the cache owner. A beautiful day in an awesome part of the world. Out with the wee wiggles too. TFTC Cheers!
A perfect day in the Tasman Bay area. Had a nice picnic at Slip Apple Rock. Found cache at 2pm on the way to Marahau. Left a bell (Twingley) and removed a pencil sharpener that was rusty and messing things up. Also took trackable CMEW08. TFTC.
For next visitors ... watch out for the dog poo on the track near the cache

Out on a mission to take the dog to the beach while grabbing a few night caches. Otuwhero is a beautiful little inlet so it was nice to stop in. TFTC +TB
The GPS decided it would only work when plugged into the car power so this was found by pacing out the distance from the car and looking for the clue - worked a treat TFTC, great fun and a great spot.
Out 'doing' the area. Over for the event tomorrow and camping in the area. Nice little spot. TFTC.
It was raining quite hard and I suppose I did not spend the required amount of search tie for this one. I found the location and did the best search I could on my own as my helpers stayed in the dry in the car. I am sure it is an excellent location for a cache. Perhaps another day?
When we came past here this morning there were a lot of white baiters about, but they had all gone this afternoon when we returned for the cache.
+ a marble, - nothing.

Took a wee bit of to & fro, but we got there in the end. This was a lovely peaceful area today & we were glad caching sent us out this way.
Have come up from Christchurch for a week staying at Kaiteriteri, went for an early bike ride this was my first find (1 of 5) for the day and in the pre-dawn dark, great , Nice Hide, TFTC. 1eyednbf (1 Eyed Cantab and proud of it).
#578, 12:40, found in nice sunny day together with Zivaa. Really nice place. TFTC
Arrived at GZ followed our GPS which went straight to the cache.
Thank you for the cache.
Thank you for the cache.
Kimbo took a slip here and ripped her combat trousers while Mudflap giggled and found the cache.
Grabbing a few caches in the area while passing through on our 'how ever long it takes' NZ tour.
Thanks for setting this up.

Another good cache found while on a holiday tour around the south island. SL TFTC
Fun cache, started on the wrong side and my mate got a little wet...Thank you for a laugh.
Thanks to some wasps in the gras and in the bush at the promising coordinates, i was not keen for a closer look.
Back here after quite a while. Looks like my 3rd go at this cache. Absolutely no problems at all today. Great spot too. Found this cache as part of my Leap Year Day caching trek... TFTC, Biggles.
A funny little slice of land eh! A bit like an island. Some kind person had cut the grass along the track since the last visitors so all was good. TFTC
Impressed with the river planting effort here. Sadly many appear to have died. TFTC
Nice One!!!!!!!!!!!We picked up this one between the two new Belts. The Grandkids took all of the honours. The whole area is on of our very favorite places to visit. Much fun. Thanks
A little slipelly with the hoar frost, but an awesome little spot in the warm sun. GZ obvious. Didn't even need GPS! Thanks for another +1 on the way to 3k TFTC
