With the clock against us we elected not to stop for most of this series.. but this one looked quick and interesting.. that proved fortunate as not only did we log a smiley, but we were able to retrieve the cache from the ground and return it as per the hint. Despite dinking a lot of wine from this region this was out first trip down the valley. Thanks Chewinprickles.
Didn't need any sticks or poker to find this cache as it was lying on the ground. Nice quick easy find. Very small container. Saw where we thought that it came from but we put it back on the ground where we had found it. SL. TFTC. Interesting location. Thanks for making us stop to find a very small cache. Thanks & Cheers. The CO might need to come out and check on this container sometime in the future.
We were a bit miffed until we read the hint. I think we were turned off by the cobwebs that some dirty spider had laid over the hide hole. Our next mission was to find a poking tool. I always have a poking tool ready to go in my pants but it was a bit flaccid for the job. In the end it was another flaccid piece of weed that helped us out.Song: Got Me GoinArtist: Black Eyed PeasAlbum: Elephunktftc
Found on the way home from our long weekend camping adventure in Edi Cutting.TFTC
Out with Crack'n'LeeLee for some shenanigans oh and some caching before dinner. This was one of the caches we stopped to nab. We did half of the hokey pokey before finding this cache..log sheet replaced
After looking around for a couple of minutes, ConnieandRick finally had her hands on the graal. TFTC
Visiting the area to attend a few events. What a lovely area it is. After a group paddle on William Hovell Dam, Tiz13 and LeeLee set off to grab a few more caches before dinner. Making our way back to Edi another quick stop and find. Thanks chewinprickles
Quick find with the poley stick, but logsheet needs replacing as its falling apart.
Working out way down the line The log was too wet to even remove from container, but still a great cache Big thanks!
A quick find today while out on a day trip to Powers Lookout. The log book was too wet to actually sign anything. The pen kept poking holes in it. We took a photo of the logbook to prove that we did find it. The cache was replaced. TFTC
After spending a few days exploring the mountain ranges north of Mansfield it was time to get back to Melbourne. With the current "find 100 caches in 1 month" souvenir challenge it was also time to start ramping up the caching finds! Before heading home from the Edi Cutting campground I decided to explore this stretch of road on a glorious autumn morning.
I somehow missed the previous one at Claremont and ended up at Angleside. With a farmer hanging around across the road I took extra 'interest' in the Hume and Hovell obelisk and used the hint for a quick find.
Thanks, Chewinprickles.

Nice sneaky hide, out with Geowife and Geodog exploring the area. On our way to Whitfield. All good here. Now onto the next one for the day. TFTC
Following the DNF, I was pleased to make a quick find here. Log is a little damp. TFTC Chewinprickles.
Great hide! Think we might be following shadbolt after finding the same caches on the same day the coordinates are on point and the hint is very helpful TFTC
Caching out from Wangaratta today and decided to try some of these caches, an quick find with the aid of accurate coordinates, TFTC
Two TASSIES out and about for ten weeks. Two days to go before the big swim back home. Today being a rare spring day (of late) we are on a first expedition into King Valley wine territory and ...... wotdoyaknow ! there's a great string of caches to grab here and there as we go ! Poke poke pokey poke ! Interesting that the dates on the Hume and Hovell obelisk don't seem to make chronological sense. TFTC chewinprickles.
Well I was now supposed to be on my 6 week adventure up to Outback Queensland but with my knee failing me I just had to turn back around and head home.
So after 3 weeks of rest at home I was getting cabin fever so for the last week I just had to get out so Western Victoria beckoned so I could grab a few LGA’s and UBD Country VIC maps which would not involve a lot of walking.
So after finishing of Western Victoria I’m now heading to North Eastern Victoria to do the same.
This will be a 4 day whirl wind tour of a lot of Victoria.
A couple of Hume and Hovell monuments are my target this morning before continuing on with the maps.
I found my second monument that I required and what do you know there is a cache there as well.
A sneaking find and I soon added my name to the log.
Thanks chewinprickles TFTC

Another great spot on the planet and a little bit more history thank you for bringing us here
Camping caching with Flaggys and MooFlagg. We had a great time doing this mini trail and racing to find the caches. Tftc.
We have finally moved on from the Mega Wangaratta and our target is to do the caches around Glenrowan and the NKH series. This one was right where we thought that it would be.
A mega jaunt with endeavour3 saw us caching this cache and writing in the log, then we moved on. A lovely place to explore.
Thanks to Chewinprickles and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! [^]
Watawieh from Norfolk Island South Pacific.
I have joined forces with TeamAstro to attend the Wangaratta Mega. Found on our return to Wangaratta after visiting Edi to visit another geocacher who was camping there

then along the King Valley.
Headed over to Dal Zotto for lunch so grabbed a few on this trail on the way to Milawa
Thanks for the hide and the cache
Log book has been signed and returned

Cache is secure! Log is slightly damp but I think ok. A bit of summer heat should rectify that.
Nice drive out of town on a cool but so far clear Sunday morning. Log was extremely wet but still able to sign. TFTC
Grub62 and I were on our way back home to Melbourne from a weekend at Wangaratta. We through that a few more caches on our way would be a good idea. TFTC.
This was find 8 for Bunadoorian and myself today. We have enjoyed stopping and looking at the old railway signs. This one was an easy find being a weekend and no body at the local primary school. Thank you for the series and for bringing us here chewinprickles.
Headed out with Wright_stuff for a well overdue catch up and caching day. With the border now open we decided to cache around Glenrowan, and the King Valley area.
A quick find, and an enjoyable series

Very wet log.
There was a bit of water sitting in this cache.
Thanks for the day out Stephenson5

So many phantom train stations along this valley route. Tam is marveling at the number of tiny primary schools too. Frogs ribbiting in the distance. Thanks for bringing us here!
TFTF. I like seeing where the old stations once were. Haven’t found many of this series just not my lucky day but yeh. Got this one.
Yes the poking stick did come handy.
Yes the poking stick did come handy.
I'm loving how all the caching in this series have been different. It's not just rinse and repeat like other series can be
Found (again) under torchlight (again) this time with the company of catnap777 on our way home from a bit of midwinter fun in a dinghy on Lake William Hovell.
This cheeky little hide was another one cat' had not also found and since I couldn't remember the hide either, it was new to both of us.
TFTC Chewinprickles, my apologies for failing to log my visits on your excellent series the first time I was here.

On our way back home from a wonderful day spent exploring the King Valley and all of it's delights. Dalerious had done this series long ago, but had forgotten to log them, so we decided to re-visit them as I did not have them all. It was night by the time we signed the first log, and we could not get over the amount of cars on the road. It truly was like Bourke Street. Thank you for keeping this great series alive. Caches found in good condition.
Day 17 and the final day of this road trip! Packed up camp on a beautiful sunny day, second guessing whether I really should go home or not. Now making an extra long journey home via a few caches.
Found this one on my last attempt but also retrieved a red back spider along with it. Be careful!
Thanks howjen567 for the cache.

I thought I had spotted it but how to get my hands on it easily? Lucky a useful implement was close at hand. Tftc
Placing this entire series on hold, mainly because there is much needed maintenance required and I am unable to legally attend to this while the Covid restrictions remain.
Last one as this ended up being a night cache on our way back home

Stopped for a quick leg stretch and cache grab on the way back to Wodonga. TFTC.
A few weeks ago I looked at my tally and thought I would struggle to crack 1000 caches for the year. But a consolidated effort over the last few weeks and more than I expected on the recent work trip numbers suddenly things looked positive - had a few calendar holes to fill and some potential trips to get the last 22 required. However when the offer was made to visit Milawa for lunch and the suggestion of taking two cars so that I could go geocaching afterwards was made I jumped at the opportunity. So after morning tea at Brown Brothers and lunch at the cheese factory I parted ways with the rest of the family (I took the geohound) and started on the caches around town. 23 caches (and 1 DNF) later the magic number was reached and now the challenge is to beat last years total.
Last one for the day and I did it just in case my maths was wrong (which it wasn't). Picked up a convenient tool and the little blighter appeared on the first attempt - just what you like when you are ready to go home. Log signed and once again returned as found.
TFTC chewinprickles - I will be back to complete (and maybe check one again as well) in the future.

A late log - a few found on the way back from a very fun trip to a few King Valley wineries with all power to the self designated driver who gets to determine stopping points for the cache hunt! Apart from that, the jolly occupants don’t mind the history tour as well. TFTC
Ilukaperi and I were on a mission to bring ammo cans to the big smoke. Well, we were heading up to Wangaratta to pick up a delivery of ammo cans for people back in Melbourne. Anyhoo, why head up the boring old Hume Hwy, when you can take the back roads? So we decided to cache between Mansfield and Wangaratta, via Whitfield. I took over the driving at Mansfield, either because she was scared of driving on dirt roads or she wanted a good laugh at me trying to drive a manual car for the first time in 10 years. Whatever the case, I had done a bit of caching along this route before, so she had more finds than I did today, but not this one.
Spotted the cache fairly easily. Waited for passing motorists to disappear before retrieving. Signed and returned. TFTC!

Find Number 1980 found at 15:05. This was the 8th find of 9 finds and 4 DNF's today
We headed down to Paradise Falls as there were two caches not found for more than a year. Hopefully I can get a bit closer to my son's 50 forgotten years challenge.
We found this one safe in its hidey-hole, we used a pen to get it out.
The log is very tatty. Other than that the cache was in good condition. We signed the log (sometimes we sign micro logs with G&T or GT) and replaced the container as found
Thanks howjen567 for the cache.

Today we have moved to Malawa, staying at the Brown Brothers RV area. From here we will cache from Wangaratta and Beechworth areas
This morning we drove along the Spirit of Salt trail & in the afternoon into Wangaratta.
This was a good way to visit your area.
Thanks for placing this cache howjen567

1 September 2018 12:53 pm Found with Gonefishen07 while in the area for a bike race. We took the time to do a few caches while waiting for Thing no2 to do her 115km race. Thanks for the Cache.
Found with Hearse068 while in the area attending bike race meet. We did a little caching while waiting for niece to complete her 115 km ride TFTC log book wet and hard to write on
I needed a cache outing and so begged dalerious to come out for the day!
OK so I didn't really twist his arm all that hard before he jumped up and said 'yes'
We had a brilliant day travelling far and wide and made 35 finds and only 2 DNFs which made for a great day
Finally I've found all bar 1 of the Spirit of Salts caches after finding my 1st one of the series in April 2015 at Whitfield when I came across to Vic and did the High Voltage series [^]
Oh and there were 2 FTFs found today as well and the stunning views and the fun of snow caching in the dark made the day a day that will long live in my memory [^] ... and that's saying something as my memory is screwed!
We found the 1st cache at 11.11am and the last cache at 6.46am... the following day! [^]
As I am about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up.
My heartfelt thanks to the COs who have placed some tricky, funny, exercise required, scary, interesting and devious caches in some amazing spots! [^]
Rex and I have had some amazing adventures and enjoyed some incredible moments thanks to this fantastic hobby

The next planned stop from Byrne was the old Moyhu rail site, but since the township was flooded with activity we passed through and visited Angleside instead.
A terrific spot to visit actually, not only for the position of the rail siding, but for the Hume and Hovell monument situated nearby.
We had no difficulty locating the cache, but it has been damaged. We replaced it as we found it, but the container is broken. The log is all ok however.
SL at 3.30pm.
A great cache placement. TFTC howjen567. A favourite point from us.
