After spotting Lumpyjrb recent log with a beautiful picture I was keen to visit this cache myself. There was something very special about this cache. The trees planted by school kids have grown into established beautiful trees. Lots of lambs around bleating added to our experience. While some memorials can feel rather somber this cache felt like a celebration of life. Springing up in a surprising location. Did a swag swap. Which always adds joy for the geokids. Thanks Magilla0_2 for the cache and bringing us out here. A favourite point from me. #99
Seize the Sunday! What to do on a day with nothing else planned ... Right! Grab the gear! Today we headed northwest to west. Left a Geonickel. TFTC!
We were heading from Napoleons where we attended a CITO this morning, to Geelong.
This cache appeared close to our route so we had to give it a go and we were not disappointed.
Historic in that this Avenue of honor was the first of this type of monument in Victoria, it was also very thought provoking in many ways.
Thanks for keeping the ANZAC memories alive and for making us grateful to all those that make that supreme sacrifice.

Sorry for the late log. As I drive past yesterday I remembered I hadn't logged it!
A sad and sobering reminder of war and its effect on small communities.
Cache is still in good condition though I had to be careful threading my hand through the barbed wire.
Cheers

We had camped at Cape Clear overnight and decided to take a roundabout route back home.
Caching takes you down some interesting roads, and you get to see some interesting sights.
The Avenue of Honour was noteworthy for several reasons; it is one of the oldest in the country, being planted just after the war had started, the crosses with the names on them are solid and quite prominent, and the locals must have thought that the end of the sentence "I Want You", meant that he wanted them to plant a tree in his honour.
We found the cache quickly, and it is in excellent condition. Thank you for this cache magilla0_2

When I pulled up to GZ a muggle was parked nearby so I started my journey at the other end of the Avenue of Honour. It was quite interesting reading about the school and the church that used to be here. I imagine it wasn’t as quiet in those days as it is here today. The cache was easy to find and is in great condition. TFTC
Quick park and grab.
We enjoyed reading all the historical signs around this spot.

My 1st chance to get out of the City and I took some leave. It was also my birthday on the Friday.
We had initially planned to go camping but the weather wasn't so hot so day trips it is! And actually this was a great day trip. I love the countryside and the open road.
This weekend felt "normal" again after so long apart and in various lockdowns.
Today we drove and drove and drove. And I was a passenger so could enjoy it more.
This was a really lovely avenue of honour. A local pulled up and told me he went to the school that was here.

Off for a long day, (550+ km drive) to cache around Beeac, Cressy and Rokewood and grab the odd ones out n about.
We left at around 8am and got back home just after 11pm.
Quite the variety of caches found. And in some cool locations too, from lookouts, lakes, salt flats to a plethora of surrounding paddocks, the odd tree climb and a short stroll down a dirt track, the day had it all.
A quick grab before having a look around the area. A rather interesting location, didn't expect it.

Lovely spot. Passed through here on our random out west road trip. Was actually a highlight of the day.
I spent the day in Beeac.
Events and caches were lots of fun.
Then I ventured out further for a couple more smileys.
Great little memorial for those that fell.

On our way home and I noticed this cache on my map, but at a bit of a detour to our planned route. Opening the cache page to read what it was was about and said to Mrs Perpetuallylost that as it was a War Memorial maybe we could take a look at it.
Well once at GZ we were glad we did as we found one of the most visually interesting Avenues of Honour we have seen for such a small place! And yes, I did notice the odd name out, and found your cache in excellent condition.
Thx magilla0_2 for placing a cache here, we would never have discovered this little gem if it wasnt for your addition to our game! FP for this one.

So pleased that I came out here to this very neat Avenue of honour. Spotted what I wanted and admired the trees before heading back to the main road.

Out for the day Traveling the back roads in search of less populated locations to a few caches and Labs on the journey
The roads are narrow which made for some defensive driving as some drivers are oblivious to cars around them.
Log signed and replaced as found

A day out caching with AusFox; for the first time since lock down. We were looking mainly at some lab caches but could pass up a few extras as we passed by.
On our way to this cache we nearly came to grief with another driver not able to handle the very narrow roads almost causing us to crash.
A quick find here which was very carefully extracted singed and returned as found.
Thank you magilla0_2 for the hide

I'd been wanting to complete this cache for years but was always too busy to visit it. Until today. Perfect day to visit. Accompanied by Mrs SamGamgee. TFTC TNLN
Man this was a detour and a half. Open country roads. Well, narrow actually. Green and yellow and blue skies. A quiet resting place in a forgotten part of town. Thanks for highlighting it.
Wandering around the backblocks of the Colac area and happened upon this one. Loved the history, the cattle over the fence, the old tennis court, the row of trees. A nice reason to stop. Thanks.
Just in time to hear some cows going crazy - I think from excitement as a tractor had pulled in. Couldn’t see them but definitely could hear them! Tftc
Got home from work and decided I didn’t want to be stuck at home waiting for tomorrow’s shift to arrive. I have my muggle mum down from QLD so we headed out with the geopup.
A good easy find and a nice size in a sweet little area I’d otherwise never have seen.
Thank you for this cache and the education

Found with Wozzle68 and others whilst I was in the area for a day of events.
Overall it was a cold and wet day, but it was quite amazing we stayed mainly dry as we tended to arrive at caches when the rain was light or had stopped for a short time.
I always love heading across the border from South Australia - it tends to clear the head and reduce stress levels, especially when I hang out with my lovely Victorian friends.
Thanks for the cache maagilla0_2!

Geoturtle37, beckNmonts, OzHockeyChick and I all decided to take a drive to this side of town and attend the 3 events on today. I was lucky to locate this one fairly quickly as the weather was definitely turning for the worse. Thanks for placing this cache.
Making a day of the three events over this side, OzHockeyChick, Geoturtle37, Papi4506 and myself decided to carpool and head this side of Victoria. We met up with Wozzle68, GoodLook and Whitepaws9 to continue in convoy for the rest of the day. This one was quickly uncovered by Papi4506. Thanks so much for placing this cache magilla0_2
Magical setting with dusk looming and the wind whistling through the trees. Clear roads in all directions and a lovely memorial to Euracks bravest. CIGC TNLN TFTC

Heading down to Warrnambool for work and a required detour had us coming past this spot. We decided we'd take some time to grab this cache. My colleague took the chance to have a smoke break while I quickly found the cache. Its fantastic to see this spot so well maintained TFTC
This is one of the wonderful things about caching - bringing you to an area that you never knew exsisted. Thank you so very much - it was quite emotional looking down the avenue and reading the history behind it all. TFTC - a fav from me
Great to see a cache placed here to bring people to this spot. Such a sense of community and caring. Interesting story of the planting of the trees. TFTC
Found on our way home from Apollo Bay. We decided to take the back roads and eventually came across this cache. Great to see these remembrance drives being so well maintained. Cache is in good order. Thanks for bringing us here magilla0_2
On my way to Melbourne, I detoured to get this one. The memorial is in good shape and has had a bit of a spruce up for its recent centenary. The cache was found in good condition. I wondered why the non-local was listed here. I did a bit of a search and noted he had died about a month prior to the memorial opening, so maybe his inclusion was a tribute. Thanks for bringing me here magilla0_2.

After attending the Ducks Unlimited - A Duck in a Park Event, with those daring deadly ducks, we headed north to investigate a number of caches dotted across the volcanic landscape.
What a fascinating location to visit. The area around GZ was buzzing with working bee activity! A lady approached us, wondering if all was OK?
Then she eplained the reason for the working bee:
On 24th July (tomorrow) the Eurack Community will be commemorating the Centenary of the Avenue of Honour, which was planted in 1916 by the school children as part of an Arbour day project to honour the locals who enlisted in the First World War - the first in Victoria at the time.
The Community will be presenting a brief story about the war service and life on each soldier after they returned from the Great War.
Our thanks to magilla0_2 for placing this cache.

PS: Yes we do know which man was not a local.

With a break from the stifling heat, it was the perfect morning to go caching. We hadn't been down this neck of the woods for a while. So after loading up the GPS with all of the recent caches in the Colac and surrounding area, it was time for a road trip. While we enjoyed a nice cool morning, the wind was another story. I'm glad I don't wear a toupe, as I think it may have ended up in Tasmania !! The winds were ferocious, good for flying a kite, but nothing else. [xx(]
All up we found 14 for the day, with no DNF's !! Thanks to all of the CO's for their efforts in placing these hides.
This was our first stop this morning. A somber memorial in this quite little place. A quick find today, now on to the next !! TFTC magilla0_2

On a family day out, so stopped to find this cache, we did find the non local name, it's always very moving to stop by these memorials and reflect on the sacrifice that was made by these young men and the legacy that they created for future generations that will follow them. TFTC
A curriculum day today for the 6 year old geokid meant a day off work for me. We headed to Colac to try our luck! What an amazing spot. Caching has bought us to some of the most interesting places and this was one of them. The avenue is just amazing. I always reflect here and thank though who have made this country the amazing place it is today. Uploading some pics. This caches is definitely worth the detour. A fav from me
What a peaceful place to honour our fallen men. Thanks for bringing me here magialla0 2.
Awesome and somewhat sad place. While hunting for this one we had another car pull up so pretended to take photos of the plaques, then overheard which one is it? Aha are you hunting for the cache we asked, and we got a positive response. So we made the find and signed the log and had a lovely chat with coxy98765 and his driver it is always nice to meet fellow cachers out and about TFTC

We Had never been down this road before, but since there was a cache here we decided to make it part of our path, its a very interesting area, we ended up googling about this spot and found it very very interesting and learnt that it was the first avenue of honour in Victoria, Thanks heaps for bringing us here.
We went a little bit out of our way to get this cache. An unusual roadside memorial. tftc
As a new user I was a bit surprised to find one so close to home, it was literally about a kilometre away. It was definitely a good one to start with:-)
I love geocaching for the way it brings you to these great little spots
A nice shady spot was found to park the geomobile as I strolled along the line reading the names.
Then back to GZ to find the neatly hidden, but easy to find cache [^]
And in all the minutes I was there, not a car passed by !
Ye olde community hall and tennis courts don't get much use these days ?

What a beautiful memorial to these gallant young men and that very strange Irish inclusion. I find it still very moving when I come across places like this, especially when the community they left has also mostly gone Thanks for highlighting this out of the way history magilla0 w
A quick find this afternoon on a pleasant drive around the district looking for traces of soldier settlement, so this was an appropriate cache for the theme. And two days past a knee op, the terrain rating was also appealing as walking still seems to be more complex than I remember it being last week! Fortunately was able to hobble to GZ whilst the geohubby and boys introduced themselves to the local sheep. Quickly found the cache and signed the log, but unfortunately wasn't able to make it far enough to observe many of the symbols of local gallantry.
Regardless, was happy to see this peaceful little place.
Thanks magilla0_2!

A windy morning on the Monday drive to work in Warrnambool. The search for a cache sent me off to even more rural Victoria which 'rocks', amongst other things. The beauty of the landscape of bright yellow canola fields combined with springtime and new lambs, foals and calves is a delight to start a week. And the cache, in the most likely place in this line of remembrance. Lest we forget all and the good people of Eurack who gave their lives. Thanks for bringing me here.

What an unusual place to find an avenue of honour. So sad to see many shared monuments (brothers? father, son? or maybe cousins?). It's puzzling why the inclusion of the non local with no more or less of a memorial than the others.
Took accordion, left krusty the klown eraser.
