Headed up the Lewis Pass tops today. Had three muggle daughters with me so had to be a quick find. Cache all fine. Thanks bumandworker for another smiley.
Nearly overshot the pull off driving over the pass. The GPS was a little bouncy and there were many places the cache could've been hiding but luckily I wasn't searching for too long. I grabbed the path tag TFTC!
Took us a wee while but really glad we persevered. Pleased to find a path tag, our first.
Second to find in 2023 and first to sign the log. Left my pathtag to attract other cachers to stop (in the safe spots either side of the road).
Spending the winter woofing, tramping and exploring the west coast caching along the way ..of course..

Thought this may have been a main carpark one and almost missed it. Cool to see the Lewis Pass peak sign and duck off on a lesser known track. Cool wee track that gave us an insight on the surrounding bushlands. Co ords pretty accurate...a slight uphill walk and didnt have to look too hard for an oddly placed rock . Cool secret spot to visit thanks
Started our day from the boyle river campsite. A couple of walks from the st james parking spot. Decided to do the walk up the track to get views over lewis pass. After going to the top to get views we came to the intersection for the carpark
This one wasn't too far out of the way so decided I would go down and grab it. Was searching the wrong area first then spotted a rock but it was a decoy but led me to the right location so the cache was soon in hand. TFTC

After finding GCTB3X, we headed up the road and along the trail to find this cache. The terrain today was much higher than that reflected on the cache page, as the track consisted of lots of roots and many river crossings. Once at gz we checked a few places before finding the cache. We continued on along the trail and walked back down the highway back to the car parked at St James carpark. TFTC
Passing through, on the lookout for 10 plus FP hides and this one is. Easy find, sign and return.
Day 7 of three weeks winter motorhoming in the upper half of the South Island. Travelling from Culverden to Reefton today. Very scenic drive in many parts. Picked up 10 caches along the way, plus another one in Reefton itself. Took a few minutes to find this one – in a spot higher off the ground than I was envisaging. #4075. TFTC.
On a west coast adventure and on our way to Nelson for a few days . My first time to travel up the west coast of the south island In 20 years so this time we get to cache our way in to uncharted territory, so let's see what fun adventures awaite us bring it on.

On a road trip with GSEL, who had noticed that this cache wasn't too far from the parking, and would help us both qualify for a challenge we both have been working on for a while. A bit of a walk and than the search started... as usual for Today, it was GSEL who had the better cache sense, and we were soon able to sign the log. The track looked tempting but we needed to be away as there were more caches to find , and we needed to be in Hokitika this evening! TFTC
#9311. Its Good Friday. The start of an Easter road trip to the South Island to pick up a swag of geotour caches in Canterbury, West Coast and Otago over the extended Easter break. Doing this trip with caching buddy Infoferret as we decided to share the cost of a rental car and fuel plus share the driving with the long distances planned for this trip. We hired a hybrid car and it was a good choice as it was economical but easily made it through all the long distances with no concerns over fuel tank capacity. Today we are heading to Hokitika via Hanmer Springs, Lewis Pass, Reefton and Greymouth (just 25 litres of fuel used for this day).
At the top of the pass now. Parked in the small layby and wandered through the beech forest path to GZ. Didn't take too long to locate the cache. Signed the logbook and replaced everything as found. Thanks bumandworker for the cache and giving us another excuse to stop on the road to Hokitika. Enjoyed the scenery at this spot and the fresh mountain air.

Out with coconuts3, lytteltonwitch and Busy paws on a fantastic trip up in this area, we had a ball, much laughter, fun and photos. Log signed as Hawkes Harem. TFTC.
On a road trip with Busypaws, coconut3 and geomum and signing as Hawkes Harem. Took a few moments to find and loved this area. Took several photos
Geomum007 found this on a great trip home from Reefton. Quite a tricky spot. The weather had been a mixture of rain, wind, warm, cold. This was a cold moment, we were glad to sign this one off. Logged as Hawkes Harem. TFTC
Really enjoyed the stop here as the trees are beautiful. Found the cache and then took photos. Out with busy paws, lytteltonwitch and Geomum007 logging as Hawks Harem. Thanks for the cache bumandworker.
Not quite the park and grab I was expecting but what a beauty of spot to drive off-road for. It took me longer than usual to find with GPS insisting it was 10m west. Sneaky hide. Thanks bumandworker.
**Found on our February - March tour around the South Island. Logging back home in Auckland in Lockdown isolation**
Travelling today from Hanmer Springs to St Arnaud finding a few caches along the way. A nice place to get into the forest without going too far off the road. Enjoyed the short walk to GZ. Thanks.

We parked roadside and went to look for this cache. That was not as easy as we thought of and we looked around for several minutes, but finally we spotted the right place. And surprise: some other signed the logbook here just today. And we thought we would be "first to find" in 2020
We loved the forest, it was very special! Thank you for the cache!

Stop two, find two. An interesting wee find. It was nice to stretch our legs. JDScout and I are on a campervan holiday from Christchurch to Collingwood to Havelock and back home to Christchurch. Geocaching is on my agenda. We both like biking and walking too. Thanks bumandworker for placing this geocache it is find 8077 for me.
Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.

Enjoying our drive over Lewis Pass in stunning winter scenery. Cold though, the temperature was hovering between 0 and 2 degrees all through the drive. A pretty walk this one. Had to circle around to find. Meanwhile snow was dropping down off the trees onto me, and down my neck. Eventually found, wasn't expecting it to be above ground level. All dry and in good order, thanks b&w.
A planned geocaching trip with specific targets in mind.
1: The final 2 caches to fill my D/T grid
2: The last 5 caches available (all in the South Island) to meet the NZ Jasmer challenge GC4R9Z6
3: Get as many caches as possible in a day (Solo)
I had no timetable and only a vague route (Christchurch - Dunedin- Invercargill). So after 20 days of sleeping in my tent/car I arrived home having traveled 4500km and visited some interesting places. Met some great people. I had found over 650 caches. That was a lot of park. Jump out out. Find cache sign and return. Then on to the next. All this done by myself. Also attended an event and had 2 FTF
Mission 1 and 2 were achieved and I had a best day of 153 caches. All this done by myself.
Day 17 Waikari to Greymouth 50 caches found including a FTF. This was a stop on my way over the hills. Thank you for the placement.

The GPS reception seemed to be particularly bad here this morning and I wandered about, zig-zagging from one unusual root to another. At last I sort of found the cache by accident when I bent over for some reason and spied an unusual rock under an unusual root. Thanks for encouraging me to stop here and look about .
About 20 Years ago we stopped here to let the kids play in the snow. Have driven past countless times since then, and never knew this track was there.

Found on a dog walk.
Last stop on the way back from Golden Bay to Chch - Lewis Pass. Been eyeing this cache several times now but there is not always a good chance to stop or I just miss it. Lewis Pass is a really modest one. Not really any signs or anything that would indicate that you are about to reach it or that you ar on it.
Cache was located quickly and we wandered further up the hill to get one more.

Late log for this one - 4 Dec 2016 and 2 Dec 2017 we drove through. Pretty sure it was 2017 we stopped in that awkward pull in and had a short walk up the track.
On our return trip from chch. I was following a truck up the hill so was going at a slow speed allowing time to pull over off the road at the entrance to this track. There was a small patch of fresh snow on the grass up the hill and cold sleet falling. Nice to finally stop here and find the cache. TFTC
GEO ROAD TRIP dismal failure, the 20 caches with 10 min searchers just didn't gel but managed to grab this one. Confidence was at a low ebb after so many DNFs but based on the hint I thought lets' give it a whirl. Got to the location and realised there were probably a number of hint type items and the descripter could be subjective but fail I would not. After 9 mins and 50 secs had it found and logged and on the road again. TFTC all good
This was the fifth day of my driving trip down to Oamaru for Geofest 2017. I stopped every five to ten kms or so along the way to grab a cache. This expanded my driving time to a total of two weeks to get there and home again. I ended up going a total of 3,500 kms. TFTC.
Making our way home from Hawarden with my Mum and Dad. They are more willing to stop and wait for me than my Husband is on most trips. A very chilly day, 3 degrees, but still sunny. There were a couple of options that matched the hint and I got it on the 4th, my phone gps isn't that great. A nice wee place, goes unnoticed. TFTC
A Nice evening for a stroll, and stretch of the legs on a slow tip home. Lovely in here. TFTC
Missed the pull in on the way up, mrs capperz nerves got the better of her. Headed down a bit, turned round, and parked on the way back up. Was 8 degrees here as opposed to the 22 degrees further down the hill so quite a chill in the air for t-shirt and shorts! Headed into the woods and soon found G Z with tell-tale C O camo in place. All good and replaced a s found. T F T C b&w
Day 3 of our mini-holiday and time to head back over the (Lewis Pass) hill. On the way we stopped off at a few, but not all, geocaches to help break up the journey, and also convert a few greenies into yellow smiley faces. Laetitia seemed bitten by the caching bug and accompanied me for most of the finds all the way home, even finding a few before me!
We have a foreign exchange person over from New Caledonia for this week, and the school holidays are still on so it's only reasonable to show our visitor, Laetitia, some of the sights and sites around our back-yard, and beyond. So it was decided that we would stay in the work 'bach' at Hanmer Springs for a couple of nights and recent road closures etc meant that the trip from Murchison to Hanmer along the alternate route would take us past some previously untraveled roads and therefore afford us even more scenic experiences, and a few caches of course.

Due to high volume of traffic hard to stop at to many caches but by luck this car park area was empty so after a mad dash across road and a short walk in the bush soon had cache in hand.

My mission is my first 3 day tramp on Stewart Island. The Seagnoid has Xmas off so we are off on an epic adventure with Zara around the South Island. Toby and Zara are playing tag from Springs Junction to Akaroa.
Zara stops so Toby does as well. The seagnoid wants to get Lewis pass so we jump into Toby and back track to this. We are caching by cell phone so go the wrong way but bag it with the hint. TFTC Cheers

TaybeeDragon and I are off for a three day walk on Stewart Island. But we have a camper, so once you add in getting there and back, it's a three week trip. Day 2: Springs Junction to Akaroa.
It's a long way to Christchurch so most of the trip involves driving past caches. We drove past this but then I noticed the name. Brakes! U-turn and back we came. The main reason we were driving past is because I made sure I didn't have these caches in my GPS. Which means we are caching off my cellphone, but as there is no coverage. So all I have is name, coords and size. Which is heaps of info!

This cache took me some time today, until i found it, almost gave up on it. I came here on my way from Christchurch to Blenheim and took a short stop. Went out, searched and searched and somehow i found it. Very good hideout. Now my is in the caches log and i left again after arranging everything as found.

Hideeho Thanks for the cache:) Greetings from the USA! Heading to the west coast on our tour of New Zealand and stopped for some cache. We were able to make the find, even though there were lots of places to look.
Didn't know this track was here. Looking forward to coming back to walk it. Great cache. Thank you
Another stop as we were travelling from Motueka to Christchurch. Took a while to find, as the GPS had me going all over the place under the trees. Thanks for the cache.
Found on a road trip to Richmond and Nelson from the deep dark South of Dunedin.
Having a great time hunting down caches in a load of different places.

Out and about this weekend a bite of a road trip to the cost and CHCH to see friends and family. All and all a good weekend out. And with so many caches to chose from and not enuf time to get them all ( good excuse to go back for more) sorry about the cut and paste. But thank you to all those that have put caches out there for all to find. And thank you for taking me to some interesting places seeing some interesting sites and the time I wasted looking in all the wrong places
What a nice spot in amongst the trees with the sun shining through , after a short search cache was soon in hand ,log signed and returned. Another excuse to stop on the way back to nelson ,,, thanx for bringing me here Thanx4tc
Missed this one last time I was in the area. A quick find during my (extended) lunch stop at the Pass.
A big mission awaited - Sonia and Menzo's wedding in Nydia Bay. Considering the number of cachers in the family, it is not surprising that we turned the trip there and back into a semi-caching road trip! We signed most logbooks as team polak to save space and time. We are grateful to all CO's who made our travels so much more fun.
Possibly not a park and grab? A bit of an uphill walk, then a dance due to tree cover... Stopped listening to gps after a while and followed Sonia who followed her instinct. Really nice area, and I hope to return for some of the others around too!! TFTC!!

On our way up to Nelson to hang out the weekend before our wedding. The fiancee went in a different car that visited the touristy spots with his mum, while I went in the caching car with my mum!!
Finally knocked this one off. Last time there was ankle to knee deep snow - yes, we could drive here, however I wouldn't have found the cache probably.
Coords were all over the show, and the first place both our GPS pointed ended up being about 40m away from where the cache actually was!! In the end it was more luck than anything, but hey, names are in the logbook, so still counts!!

6525. Off on a camping/geocaching holiday to Nelson. Day one was Christchurch to Murchison. This was our sixth stop for the day. The gps struggled to get coverage under the trees. Our gps and phone got within 25m then we just had to look around until we found it. Thanks for the cache in a beautiful roadside spot. Rodney and Iris.
Our last cache for the day, straight home after this one after a busy few days expending energy. Thank you bumandworker.
Familiar with the small roadside parking we had no problem with finishing our caching expedition here in the environment we like best. Bush. Thank you Bumandworker for placing this cache.
First one on my hike to the Apprentice today. Quick find. TFTC. Sherlock Hood.
After a rainy night we drove further northwards. Of course we made a short stop to watch for this cache. To find the box was not so difficult. Thanks a lot for this cache.

Stopped on the off chance and found that there was a cache nearby. GPS didn't work so well under the dense tree-cover but eventually foccussed in and 'Bingo'!
Took a while to find this one as the azimuth of the GPS satellites where poor at that particular time of the day (combined with tree cover) so corords where showing up to 20mtrs out and fluctuating. As always nice to be in the bush. TFTC
12.10pm. Thought we should stop for a cache at the top of the pass, especially on such a beautiful day. Admired the beech forest and attractive moss stumps. Cache quickly found once at GZ. Deserves a favourite vote from us for such a beautiful area. Left a signature pathtag.

Gps a bit iffy in the trees but found it, not as much snow around as I thought but a nice sunny day for a walk all the same. Tftc.
On the way to Nelson we stopped at the top of the Lewis Pass to pick up this cache. What a lovely location. I didn't really have the right footwear on, so it was very slippery underfoot. There were so many places to hide a cache I was worried about how long I might take to find the cache - but it turned out my phone took me right to it. Once I saw the hiding place - it was obvious there was a cache there.
I was tempted to try to collect some of the nearby caches but the other travellers were impatient to get on.
Thanks for a great cache.

Thanks for a great cache.
A bit tricky to stopping as we suddenly noticed the parking spot as we rounded the corner with another car right up our rear (was travelling fairly slowly as I knew the cache was nearby). Fortunately had time to indicate and pull in without being rear-ended.
It was great to get out of the car and have a short walk in this fantastic bush. A quick find for StreetWalker, as the cache was in the second place he looked. Well hidden away. Really enjoyed this cache, thanks.

I really appreciated this one. What an awesome spot. Found eventually once GPS stopped having a fit. Fabourite from me. TFTC.
We remember the old roadmans hut that used to be here. Mr H used to be able to spot it from the Ada when he was shooting in the area.
The tree cover had us a bit lost but we made a guess and ventured further up the 'track' and soon had the cache in hand. #434

Lots of waterfalls appearing out of the cloud. Parked and started following gps. Mr j described it as walking up a waterfall. It was good going until gps stuck on 33m and we veered off, did a bit if a circuit and ended up close to where we had veered. Don't think it was actually raining by now but really cold and lots of water dripping off trees. Cache nice and dry. Hard to believe they don't mark the summit, or maybe we missed it, so further thanks for getting us out of the car here - a fav for location and placement. PINO TFTC
