I dropped by this afternoon on my way to pick up SilverSovereign from the airport.
Not only is the cache gone, but GZ is a very different place with a shiny new footpath/ cycleway now in place and lights right over the top of the hiding place.
I suspect the cache fell victim to the tradies as the civil works were being done...

Looked for ages, but no luck. Saw the guardian though, it was worth coming to this area just for that
Looked for a bit without any luck.
Free parking and only a 5 min walk to the international terminal.
Free parking and only a 5 min walk to the international terminal.
Left kids with grandparents and we ducked across after checking in to fly to Fiji for Christmas. The guardian was still here looking handsome and ran up the tree to give me the hint to which tree to go to! Thanks for this cache! Favourite from me as the guardian was lovely.
Had some time to fill in at the airport and this was nearby. Well that sure beats waiting about the arrival lounge. Quickly found the cache, took the TB to see a little more Aus … and the water dragon watched on. TFTC GemJay.
Picking family up at the airport this arvo but as we're a little bit early we
stopped at the 'Smithy' memorial to kill a bit of time. Not so easy to get to
these days - it's important to take the 1st exit to the International Terminal
else you can't access the memorial to park legally.
So glad to find this cache hidden nearby. Took one of the TBs to move along.
Thanks GemJay

Well, this one gave me some grief. Not finding the cache - that was the easy part! Trying to find a place to park so I could find the cache is what gave me a major challenge. The roads have changed out here so much, they are so confusing. I knew there was a car park I could park in, I just couldn't get to it. But today we finally got there after being given directions from the lovely airport security lady who told me I couldn't park on the grass while geoson was off chasing rabbits!!
She was kind enough to give me directions to the car park I was looking for - third time lucky!!
Anyway - cache found, log signed, TBs discovered and a munzee scanned and most importantly - clue noted! Only 1 to go!
Thanks GemJay for the cache and my adventures here

On our way to NZ, had some time between domestic and international, so we went for a little walk to stretch our legs - and find a cache . Quick find. A little Dragon was watching over the cache. Left TB that wants be back here in Brisbane for Christmas . TFTC
#1133 - 17:55; I found myself delayed at Brisbane Airport, so took this opportunity to take a walk and log my first cache in the Sunshine State. I also took the opportunity on the way to gather information for a multi state multi I had started to gather information for earlier on the trip. It was nice to be able to go for a wander to kill some time between flights after a long week away from home and even better to log a cache while I was at it! TFTC GemJay
Very first cache find. Water dragon still guarding this cache, but he is friendly. International geocachers, don't be afraid of our Australian wildlife. TFTC.

Beetled over to this one on a beautiful clear evening to drop our friend the travel bug. After doing several rounds sightseeing trying to find a way in to the memorial we pulled over in the "naughty" spot while freddo jumped out to begin the search. Not long after flashing lights alerted us that we had been busted in a no parking area by security. While freddo stashed his torch and hid behind the tree I played damsel in distress and was duly rewarded with helpful instructions. Apparently, geofolk, if you take the Skygate exit to the shops and do a U-turn at the roundabout in front of them you can access that mythical section of airport drive which leads to the memorial and park in safety. I did this, with the ever helpful security man following me and pointing the way helpfully and soon joined freddo in the hunt. Mission accomplished, we showed geodaughters Smithy's plane and took time to read his logs. Thanks for bringing us here GemJay, we had both a geography and a history lesson today!
Found this afternoon before a flight to Vanuatu, made the walk across the road and once at gz spotted cache however it was guarded by a water dragon, though he didn't mind me grabbing it. Tftc.
Found during the fozzmiester family's Queensland holiday.
A quick very early morning find while heading back to the airport to conclude the caching activities for the holiday. A great location but as I was on limited time couldn't take the opportunity to get the most from it. TFTC

TFTC. #112. A nice spot. I was at the international terminal and decided to walk across making use of the new bike path. I was a little worried about having to get dirty as I was not dressed appropriately for that today, but was lucky to find it without the need.

Last for the day on the Northside with Ms Maddy.
We had come to airport looking for another cache which may be in the area and in the end realised that this is the only one at or near to the airport. Well the only active one.
Navigating we had ended up in far from an ideal position to access the small parking area, but another spot made it self apparent. Out of the car and off after the little box on the GPS. Closed in without much effort, and soon enough spied the prize, a quick signing off the book and back to the car.
Nothing to see here. TFTC

Hours and hours and did I mention hours out in the midday sun hunting down 50 Shades of Grey today, and OrionJ makes it sound like it was a doddle. We decided to pick up a few traditionals to wind down after a mammoth expedition
So, it's dark now and I was keen to hunt for the mythical cache at the airport. We were well aware of the No Standing policy in this area. After a couple of laps of the nearby roundabout, Sooty skidded to a stop on the verge. Oh well, it's dark! We legged it over the grass and OrionJ grabbed the cache. Signed the logbook and ran back to the car. Whew! Now we can head over the river for home.
I have a science bent so this theme appeals to me

This one has been on my list to complete for a while, as I watched it get disabled, enabled, disabled, enabled! I work close by and knew that getting to the location was a pain. Today after dropping someone at the airport I drove by for a pickup. I may or may not have broken a law in getting to the parking location, and made my way to GZ for the third time. This time it was a quick find. Cache in good order.
Not sure how many left in this series...time to check, and maybe solve the last one! Thanks for keeping it going GemJay. if ever you need someone to check on it I would be happy to oblige.

Airport maintenance has cleaned up all around trees with scrub cutters, cache missing no grass cover around trees at all.
Had to take three of my sons to the airport this morning for them to catch flights to visit another brother in the U.S. I dropped them off to check in and while they were doing that I thought I might as well grab this cache, hopefully, and then park and go in to see them off. I wandered around to GZ and was a bit surprized to see lots of garden work has been done around GZ, but fortunately the cache was found safe and in good condition. Thanks for placing it here GemJay. Great spot for a cache. [^][^] TNLNSL
Found while dropping some passengers at the airport. Had to make a return visit to collect the clue - doh!
after driving around for AGES trying to access the CKS memorial entry, i finally arrived, nerves a bit shreaded. I wonder why BAC makes it so hard to access this great piece of avaition history easily. You need a PHD to work out brisbane airports new road system. you seem to be only able access this from the old road to the international termial. you will have no hope accessing it from the new gateway motorway and the new airport drive. once there however, the find was quick and easy. i did wonder if anyone from airport security was watching me on the CCTV camera located at the western end of the memorial, as it has clear line of sight to the cache. fearing imminent arrival of men in dark glasses, i hastily make my exit.. TFTC.
Had 60 minutes between flights, sprinted to this cache. Made it there and back with 15 minutes to spare. Time enough to cool down
I'll see about completing the set next time I'm in Brisbane.

Thanks GemJay. Found this accidentally using android ap on phone to see if any caches close to airport as I was dropping someone off. Was great to have the opportunity to enjoy the Kingsford Smith Exhibit. Really enjoyed the maps and excerpts from Logs. Great little hide and a great celebration of Mathematics and Physics. Many Thanks. Thylacine Jenn [^] Also found a "gamepiece" card which I have to scan. No idea what to do with it but will go to the website detailed on card and find out! Thanks to the Gamecard leaver too . ThylacineJenn
I found an "official game piece" for munzee which said "scan for points". I took it home and went to the web site www.munzee.com to try to find out how to scan it. I had to join up and load an ap on my android in order to scan it. When I tried to scan it the ap wouldn't let me and said I had to be within 300m of the munzee.................... I presume that means I shouldn't have removed it from the cache and should have scanned it there. I will return it on Friday Night (26 July) and leave instructions for the next unsuspecting un munzeed geocacher....................... if you join munzee at www.munzee. com and download the ap on your phone you will be able to scan the card by clicking on your munzee phone ap then chosing "capture" and putting your camera over the card and adjusting the distance unto yellow lights pop on in the squares in the corner.
Have fun. ThylacineJenn

This was a quick cache as we were just passing by to meet and drop off so while I waited decided to do this one on recommendation from Saints Madhouse. pretty easy cache to find which was lucky so the mossies were pretty bad...cache was a little wet but Saints did a little bit of maintenace on it.
Came here with LawsonClan03 to meet someone in the carpark nearby and I told them to start looking. As we approached GZ my thoughts turned to horror as I saw the fresh footpath works going on. All the grass had been removed to make way for the lovely wide concrete path but the area at GZ was disturbed. As my eyes got to the actual hide location I sighed with relief as I realised that despite all the construction, the cache itself was safe. It was a wet cache but we fixed it up.
Flew into Brisbane today and we had a couple tb's that want to head os - so this was the perfect cahe to visit and drop them off. We were in for a surprise when we arrived and found the area was "work in progress", orange flags around GZ and the cache only just escaping the work - it is still there and we will contact CO, It may need to be archived for a short while. We didn't leave our tb's for fear of them disappearing.....so sad. TFTC.
Arrived in Brissy from Newcastle only to find my plane has been delayed significantly!! What to do? Cache!!!! Very wet but still enjoyable!

We've wanted to check this out for years. After dropping Herman off at BNE, bound for Holland, we dropped in here with Dansync. This was an easy park and grab. However, the listed TBs are missing. We were also swarmed by the airforce and were quickly driven back to the car. It was nice to see the famous Southern Cross. I'm so glad that I don't have to fly around the world in that. TFTC
Great little spot for a cache and a history lesson with the Southern Cross. Found with The Hunting Rabbit. TFTC
Had 10 minutes spare before I wanted to start paying for parking and the rain had stopped so was a perfect time to stop.
Log book and pen were both very very wet, but rest of cahce was fine. Log was too wet to sign. May need replacing before the mould gets to it.
Took Northern Territory Dog Tag with a hope to get it closer to its detination.
Thanks for the hide GemJay.
After I drove off I realised that I forgot to note the needed clue. May have to pop out there another day to get that.

This cache would make a fantastic TB hotel as it is a perfect location for travellers to swing past and grab a cache and doesnt seem to be on the AFP's radar - container would just need a teensy upsize... Anyway thanks for the cache!
Cache number 610. Found this nicely placed cache quite close to my quest to complete Frequent Flyer waypoint. If you are a frequent flyer around Australia, then maybe you should attempt it also. (Starts in Adelaide airport). Anyway nice hide and I left a Queensland Golden Orb spider geocoin for the next traveller. YFTC GemJay.

Nice little museum we got here. I also got treated to a blue dragon running right part me on is back legs - showoff...

Although I've been past this many times over the years, I've never stopped. Tonight I had about 15 mins before picking up seeker from the airport so had a look at a wonderful monument and grabbed a cache. TFTC
Have stopped for this one a few times as it's on the way to work, however there were always muggles present, and poncing around in a shiny uniform and heels doesn't make my searching inconspicuous.
Off duty today, so raced out in my civvies and of course not a muggle in sight.... murphy's law!
Pen needs replacing, sorry I didn't have one, so perhaps next finder could bring one!

I might of purposely gotten to the airport too early to grab this one, before the flight home
A 4 hour stop over in Brisbane on my way home to Tassie gave me plenty of time to wonder up and find this one. TFTC.
Glad to see this one under the rock. Unlike the Oceanography one. Nice and easy and not a muggle to be seen.
#3397. An early morning visit, without a muggle in sight. Interesting memorial deserving more visitors. Unfortunately, Baracuda was not in the cache.

[red]Finally !!![/red]
After almost 18 months of passing within 60metres of this cache on every drive to work, I found this cache
Since they changed the road layout in this area it is tricky to get to this cache location by car.
And despite meaning to take the 'other' way to work on many, many occasions I somehow have managed to neglect this cache
I HAD to find this cache today !!
Today was my last day working at BNE
To make doubly sure I could nab this cache, I rode the pushbike
As if to prove how hard it is to find this place by car, there was only one car in the carpark.
There were never any spare parking places back in the 'olde' days !!
That makes it a great place for an easy, muggle free cache find [^]
I grabbed Phil's Geocoin Addict Geocoin before returning to the hangar.
Smithy's old bus still looks brand new in it's climate controlled parking place

Dropped past on a stopover enroute to the NZ mega.
What an awesome historical spot. We had no idea where we were heading just following the arrow to the nearest cache.
Really very pleased to be able to visit this cache and spent quite a while reading the info etc.
Thanks another awesome piece of interest we wouldn't have seen without Geocaching. Dropped a GC.

Yay! I have been watching this one for ages, and made 2 approached towards it when picking up staff from the airport, but never took the right inroad until today. The goekids loved exploring the Southern Cross and we tried to explain some of the history. Off to the cache an easy find & replace. . Good to have this one smilie'd up .

Have always wanted to take the Geokidz to see this historical plane and now had a good excuse. Finding the cache was easy - a few mins......finding a way to get into the little carpark.....1/2 hour driving ring-roads around the entire airport area. In the end had to drive up the curb nearby to get in. little bit frustrating...but happy reward in the end. Dropped off Geocoin to continue its journey.
Nice quick find, Dropped of Connor's LGM Trackable - Hopefully someone picks him up and takes him on a plane - Good Luck LGM
The find was easy enough, but boy did I get lost on all those tricky roads!
Thanks for the cache and the plane! It's a great drop off point for bugs wanting to leave Brisbane... The racer bug wants to get to the UK, if anyone can lend a hand!
Thanks GemJay!
