A short detour from the main track to this one, and another interesting info board with a bit more history.
Loved it! You might want to bring something for other people to enjoy, because we forgot to!
I needed a long rest at the top of the hill, and resolved to at least get this cache for my effort. Awesome track over here, especially the parts in the old water races. Cache was in hand shortly enough - tftc!
Really cool walk, interesting reading the information boards and we loved finding the caches. TFTC
Very interesting walking track, we started early and took our time stopping for lots of snack breaks and rests for my short legs. I especially liked the caves and the lolly stops. Thanks for placing the caches on this track.
The water races are an amazing feat. Blows my mind to think about the scale and accuracy of them given the relatively primitive tools they had access to
Here today to walk the loop track and get all the caches on it.
Got muggled here - so read the sign for and extra long time and had a wander around until alone again and then went right to the cache in its hide as indicated in the fun hint. Left a couple of swag items. Tftc.

Enjoyed this walk today and picked up all ten caches. Lots of superb autumn colours on display, along with on and off drizzle! This was a quick find. #6077. TFTC.
In Dunedin for a wee Easter school holiday adventure. Rather wet so not sure what we'll be doing for the few days that we are down here! Today the aim was to visit Lawrence and then complete the walk around Gabriels Gully as MrsTGs ancesters mined here at the time....After having some lunch and waiting for a heavy shower to pass we set forth form the car with raincoats and umbrellas...thankfully the rain held off.
What a cool spot. Makes sense; gotta have a lot of water to power all their water cannons and sluice boxes....thanks.

After a night camping, took off to do the loop track before heading further inland. Found with Conbat. TFTC!
It was such a nice walk to find this cache. No trolls were spotted but we found the cache. I wonder nif there's ever in this feature.
Peaceful and still here today. Imagine the folk working here back in the day would have found it much less hospitable
A nice quick find. Thanks for placing your cache.
Time for another road trip for Ms_KR and KR, so we headed south toward Otago. We cruised through from Ranfurly to Lawrence today, With some biking and some walking too. Another glorious day.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

I enjoyed reading the information board here and checking out the overflows and water races. Very clever to get all the levels right. Thanks for the placement drawp.
Cool spot here the lungs are happy as...one can only marvel at the feats of these old timers..they sure earned there wages..thanks Drawp a fav here for your efforts in setting this geo trailappreciate your efforts a long with the history
not that I didn't find, we didn't look. How silly to walk up this hill and not look for one cache. now I will have to come back.
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up in Lawerence for a couple days … some biking on the Clutha Goldfields Trail & walking into Gabriels Gully are on the agenda … decided we would do the loop track around Gabriels Gully today … didn’t realise just how important that water was to the gold miners & to what engineering feats that were required, really impressive! … thought that it would be rude not to grab a few caches … found with no issues, log completed & successfully returned … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,050 for us.
Quick and easy clue when following the hint. Many thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache drawp. Have been wanting to come up here for sometime and pick up the collection of caches in this area. Also I have never been to the gully before so wanted to come check out the history here. It was all interesting. Seems strange now to think of all those people living and working here.

The water must have been so high around here after all the rain after New Year. Found the cache, log was sodden. Tried to sign the sodden log - with Flamingo4850. Took a photo of the log as proof, as it was very hard to open and pen objected to the wet paper. TFTC.
Seen a couple of old dams on this tour. One above Cromwell worth a visit. Also on top of a climb. Well where else?
Exploring the Gabriels Gully track after a Dam-busting adventure. Easy enough find, good area to explore. THank you for the hide.
.Wow this dam/dell is magical. With all the regrowth I love it. Great info board. Everything very damp but cache still good. Cheers. Fav from me.
Its Wednesday 24 April and we are off exploring Milburn, Lawrence and Lake Mahinarangi today. Awesome!!
Its another awesome geoventure to Dunedin, with The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby, Jack, Jill and William all along for the trip. Had a wonderful 10 days exploring Dunedin. It was great catching up with local cachers at several events we attended. Lots of walking and driving, with the odd cycle and wave ride to jazz things up. Thanks to all the COs that made this trip a wonderful success. Even managed to bag some lab caches along with wherigos, earth caches and events, with the usual mix taking us to some amazing places..

Amaxing how quickly the bush grows back. I would expect the land here pretty much denuded for the timber, and pretty much everything else gone as well. Now this is a pretty little dell, and only hints at what it once was. But I like it. Gets a favourite for this and the loop.
Taybeedragon and I have an eleven day Easter weekend in Dunedin. Although, let's face it, given that we are from Blenheim and Picton that means two of those days was spent in travelling. In that time we grabbed a smidge over three hundred caches. Not bad, considering the amount of time spent way out on the back roads, on bicycles or canoeing on the water. A few virtuals, larges, letterboxes, earths, wherigos, and even ten lab caches in the haul. An awesome weekend!

First time in the gully after only driving through Lawrence on trips to the fruitlands. Easiest find all day on the track was the highest to reach at the trail top and reaching for the con from hide added to the fun. Wiped out the leaky con, cleaned the seals, threw in some swag and grabbed the goods in my notorious white PVC baggy that the gurls are familiar with when they were caching in my home territory. SL log and recorded the cache code in the logbook. Meh tried not to get too muddy walking the trails but every time the wind blew, down would come the raindrops from the trees lol. TFTC Drawp.
Mirko83 and I are traveling through New Zealand from the 15th of december to the 10th of January. We rent a camper, one of the jucy green ones. We made a long list of places we want to visit. Geocaches are on our list as well. This will be fun
We came here to hike around the area and see what is left of the old gold ages. Also my first time I could fly my drone in New Zealand. This place was in the permit included, so I took lots of pictures from above. Thank you for the cache.

WhTs not to love about a caching trip combined with downsouthinv having to deliver parts for work.
Any excuse is a good one, and time to head off the main road into the wilderness to find us some caches.
Time to catch the breath

At last, a free weekend before the onset of chaos. An early morning phone call...'are you able to take xyz up north to a customer?''
There was no excuse not to, quickly chucked clothes on dragged her outta bed raced into work, got parts, and on the road before 8am.
As we drove, the voice from the passenger seat, piped up and said ' look at all these, aren't we going near here?'
Oooh Goody!! Now it's a fun work trip, might be a long day!!!
What a beautiful spot it was nice to stop and let the other party take a breather

Found with our 2 and 5 y.o. really nice history lesson for all of us. A favourite from us!
Of course I checked the wrong one first. Might get a bit damp in the monsoon season. Tftc
Decided to do this trail because of a forced absence from home due to a planned power outage. Easy find in a very pleasant and peaceful location.

This one took a while. First reading all the signs then searching with a jumping gps signal tftc
Up here for the day, nice wee wander. Interesting to think it was all constructed without machinery. TFTC
Out for a caching adventure to the Lawrence area with Sirbennis and what an amazing place to come. Was a bit of a hike up here, makes me think how unfit I/we really are. TFTC
The easiest found GZ was not the easiest box reached. The little woman left her own hippo trail slipping down into the ditch to grab the box. I SL while she did some prep and the cache got returned to the hide. The dam was empty and I wonder if it or the race ever fills up at all anymore. Left the way we came but she turned back after she missed recording the code in the book. TFTC Drawp.
Heading home after a lovely week in Central so we planned to head to Gabriel's Gully to explore and find some caches. This was our fourth on the loop track and a nice quick find by J but then she spotted all the tiny green flies and R didn't help the situation by informing her they were in her hair. Am sure everyone else in the gully must have heard her shrieks! Log signed and returned by K then after deflying J we were on our way again. Not sure what these green flies are (totally harmless) but there were hundreds of them along the rails so if any future finders can identify I'd be interested to know. TFTC
After a picnic lunch we decided to walk the most interesting historical Gabriel's Gulley loop track, following the original water race. There were many interesting interpretation boards & old mining relics and of course, a few caches hiden in interesting localities. Thanks for placing them .
Neat little spot, amazing the amount of work that went into getting the water
A gentle stroll around the Gold fields heritage trail and a few caches along the way. Difficult to imagine the true scale of the operations. TFTC
We finally arrived at Gabriel's Gully and completed the circuit of caches today.
Thoroughly enjoyed the walk around the area with tmann421 in the lovely autumn sunshine. Really interesting to see all the old relics and landmarks and to read the notice boards, in particular the letters by the children of the camps to their mothers. Hard to imagine how difficult life was for them back then.
A nice quick find here and lovely location. TFTC and for bringing us to this very interesting area.

Came by this one after doing a loop that went up Munro Gulley. A decent tramping track in places. I'll have to bring Mr i-gotit here to do the tracks and complete the caches that I didn't get today.
