A beautiful sheltered spot to sit and ponder... the notice board is well worth a read thank you for bringing me here to find your cache
It must have been a hard life. We were lucky to be here when the primroses and daffodils are out.
Last for the day - very interesting area, and i enjoyed exploring it. Quick find of the cache with a good hint. Tftc!
Really cool walk, interesting reading the information boards and we loved finding the caches. TFTC
Very interesting walking track, we started early and took our time stopping for lots of snack breaks and rests for my short legs. I especially liked the caves and the lolly stops. Thanks for placing the caches on this track.
Cool to see the historic hut site. Those water races make for some potential bog spots on the way up but they are easily avoidable if you prefer.
Gosh that was a climb but well worth it for the view plus got the cache as a quick find TFTC
Love the primrose and daffodils here. They would have been so fit then!
Here today to walk the loop track and get all the caches on it.
App location for cache was jumping around but found very easily with the hint. Imagine living up here in those days! Left a little something for next finder. Tftc.

Enjoyed this walk today and picked up all ten caches. Lots of superb autumn colours on display, along with on and off drizzle! This was a quick find and a great spot to stop for lunch. Who paid the racemen for all their efforts? was the question we asked ourselves. We didn’t have the answer. #6078. TFTC.
Hi. Just letting you know pretty much all the logs in this series need maintenance.

In Dunedin for a wee Easter school holiday adventure. Rather wet so not sure what we'll be doing for the few days that we are down here! Today the aim was to visit Lawrence and then complete the walk around Gabriels Gully as MrsTGs ancesters mined here at the time....After having some lunch and waiting for a heavy shower to pass we set forth form the car with raincoats and umbrellas...thankfully the rain held off.
GPS struggled here; initially putting me a few bends in the track further below...but once I pushed on, GPS settled a bit and then found the sign board and it allmade sense and the cache was found. Thanks!

After a night camping, took off to do the loop track before heading further inland. Found with Conbat. TFTC!
Thanks for hiding this cache drawp I appreciate it. Wow no sign of the butcher shop. We spotted the seat so had morning tea here.
Kia pai to koutou Wiki o Te Reo Māori. Kua pau te hau ahau. Ko tēnei te tihi o te puke?!
A nice quick find. Thanks for placing your cache.
Time for another road trip for Ms_KR and KR, so we headed south toward Otago. We cruised through from Ranfurly to Lawrence today, With some biking and some walking too. Another glorious day.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

A nice little climb up here. I xan see why they stayed up here but I guess you always need supplies. It must have been bitterly cold in the winter. Thanks for the cache drawp
Well that climb seems to go on and on great for lungs ..insaying that its possibly all down hill from here...those poor old guys who had to stay here..my guess its a tad mean in the winter ..found the caches ..just beware if the prickly guardian..thanks Drawp so far so good
Day one caching and seeing the sights of Otago and a bit of Southland with raylnz (big Sis from CH-Ch.) Brilliant day on the coast. Good to be out and about before our next self-imposed home detention. tftc
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up in Lawerence for a couple days … some biking on the Clutha Goldfields Trail & walking into Gabriels Gully are on the agenda … decided we would do the loop track around Gabriels Gully today … didn’t realise just how important water actually was to the whole gold mining process or to what lengths that they went to to source it & the distances involved … be rude not to grab a few caches … found with no issues, log completed & successfully returned … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,049 for us.
Thanks for the cache drawp. Have been wanting to come up here for sometime and pick up the collection of caches in this area. Also I have never been to the gully before so wanted to come check out the history here. It was all interesting. Seems strange now to think of all those people living and working here.

Thoroughly enjoying our walk around the gully - whats left of it - and a smiley as well. Cache was looking a bit sorry for itself, so we replaced the plastic bag. All good now. TFTC
Log very wet so took it out. A new piece of paper in log. Sorry but didn't have any new log books. Great spot
The log was absolutely sodden, and a bit gross to handle to be honest, after all the rain after New Year. Found with Flamingo4850. I had nothing with me to replace wet log, unfortunately. Enjoying the walk around here, and the interpretation boards. TFTC.
After having breakfast, we started our little walk to Gabriel's Gully. Up the way and grab.

Absolutely fascinating what happened here all those years ago. Thank you for the hide.
One muddy walk up a very slippery path but well worth it. All the interesting bits left from lives lived on the hill and a cache, too! TFTC
.Interesting reading about the Racemen. Amazing men for their time with only a shovel to keep the waters flowing. Now to snag this one. The Seagnoid is way over there but I like this one here. The Seagnoid has the tecky stuff and I cache as tag along without a GPS. Still hold my own with finds. And this is another elusive one I have tagged. Cheers. Another great info board to read along this awesome walkway.
Its Wednesday 24 April and we are off exploring Milburn, Lawrence and Lake Mahinarangi today. Awesome!!
Its another awesome geoventure to Dunedin, with The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby, Jack, Jill and William all along for the trip. Had a wonderful 10 days exploring Dunedin. It was great catching up with local cachers at several events we attended. Lots of walking and driving, with the odd cycle and wave ride to jazz things up. Thanks to all the COs that made this trip a wonderful success. Even managed to bag some lab caches along with wherigos, earth caches and events, with the usual mix taking us to some amazing places..

I always though the better income was servicing the gold industry, rather than being one of the miners. Still, I think I prefer to sell goods rather than build water races. I was using the cellphone - can't remember why - I thought I had this area loaded in the GPSr - I was 20m away, trying to find GZ way over there. Taybeedragon was ignoring what I was doing and went and found the cache instead. That girl has a pretty good geocaching eye.
Taybeedragon and I have an eleven day Easter weekend in Dunedin. Although, let's face it, given that we are from Blenheim and Picton that means two of those days was spent in travelling. In that time we grabbed a smidge over three hundred caches. Not bad, considering the amount of time spent way out on the back roads, on bicycles or canoeing on the water. A few virtuals, larges, letterboxes, earths, wherigos, and even ten lab caches in the haul. An awesome weekend!

Mirko83 and I are traveling through New Zealand from the 15th of december to the 10th of January. We rent a camper, one of the jucy green ones. We made a long list of places we want to visit. Geocaches are on our list as well. This will be fun
We came here to hike around the area and see what is left of the old gold ages. Also my first time I could fly my drone in New Zealand. This place was in the permit included, so I took lots of pictures from above. Thank you for the cache.

tftcAt last, a free weekend before the onset of chaos. An early morning phone call...'are you able to take xyz up north to a customer?''
There was no excuse not to, quickly chucked clothes on dragged her outta bed raced into work, got parts, and on the road before 8am.
As we drove, the voice from the passenger seat, piped up and said ' look at all these, aren't we going near here?'
Oooh Goody!! Now it's a fun work trip, might be a long day!!!
A nice walk to pick this one up and we worked our way around the track.
I am always amazed at what the miners achieved with a pick and shovel and we could not do it to day . Water was diverted and water races were dug in to hill side with no more than a pick and shovel with a bottle on a bord to get the fall right.
To day we would need two consultant and engineer or two a servayer and a lot of orange hi vis vests.

WhTs not to love about a caching trip combined with downsouthinv having to deliver parts for work.
Any excuse is a good one, and time to head off the main road into the wilderness to find us some caches.

SMany thanks to all the COs who helped make our geocaching holiday a great success
We left home early April and returned 21 May 2018. We toured from our home base up to a wedding in North Taranaki then carried on heading south right down through wellington and on down the west coast and back up via the eastern side of the alps some times going around in circles. Our aim was to get as many smiley faces on the puzzle caches that we had solved but of course stopping for many traditionals, multies and others as we went. some time we biked the bike trails or walked but mostly by campervan. we enjoyed the quite back country roads, many of them were metal but we just travelled along slowly going from cache to cache. Most caches were in good condition and I will remark if we thought it needs maintence etc.tayed at Lawerence over night and did this walk a great series

Camped close by, so a quick run late in the day to see how many we could grab. GPS bouncing around here a bit but finally we found it. TFTC!!!
Just one of a few GC checks in the area on a day off. Dropped off a TB after tidying up the hideyhole.
Easy find in an interesting location. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire trail, however this site raised the question: "How were the Racemen paid, and who by?".

Out for a caching adventure to the Lawrence area with Sirbennis and what an amazing place to come. Was a bit of a hike up here, makes me think how unfit I/we really are. TFTC
Ahahahahaa Autumn! Leaves galore, but luckily the cache was drawn from the first place I grabbed a handful of leaves from. Wiped out the con, cleaned the seals and recorded the code in the logbook after SL. Threw in some swag and grabbed the goods in a poly baggy. Returned to the hide with it's anchor and popped some ahem camo back on the cache. Getting wetter. TFTC Drawp
