I went back to the cemetery today to consider options for this cache. However, given that the cache puzzle was originally built around two chirps (which I can no longer edit because I have a different GPS) and the chirp technology never really seemed to gain popularity, I have decided it's best to archive this one. Thanks to all the cachers who went out to look for this one.
Looks like this one might have gone missing. I will have to consider what to do. Thanyou to yttam for letting me know of the problem.
TFTC this was a challenge. No chirp was our first difficulty. Second was that there were so many Springwood pioneers in the cemetery. Third not all the lettering was clear. On the plus side it was a beautiful day and we had time to pay our respects to our pioneers. Eventually found a grave that matched the requirements. Armed with the coordinates we set off to the new location to find nothing! Wider search. Wider search. at last the cache was in hand. A most excellent cache
Found without knowing the pioneer. Just looked for every hiding spot and eventually got it haha. Great hide and was more fun because it is night time
found with rubymoon and catlynxx... signed as missgeo10
gotten a new account since then and am trying to catch up on logging

i had an idea of the pioneer and went in search as i didnt have a chirp enabled anything. found the pioneer and got coords and then a quick CIH, looking forward to doing the next one. TFTC
P.S. love the logbook

Couldn't use chirp but there were enough clues in the description to find the right grave. TFTC. Nice way to spend time outside on a glorious day.
My first hearing of using chirps. Couldn't use it but with a little loocking around I managed to find the right grave. TFTC
An excellent caching experience, even with Alfyboy smirking nearby. The chirp worked flawlessly and quickly. Determining the final coords took quite a bit of effort due to the deterioration of the engravings on the "headstone".
A slight adjustment once at GZ and I spied the cache in an interesting spot.
A fabulous and well kept cemetery.

I'd guessed some of the details for this cache but, not having the proprietary technology, left it at that. My friend sjamp does have what it takes so today we tried it out.
We waited for what seemed like an eternity, at the nice old church. After awhile a lady came over to chat. She knew about geocaching but was unaware of this one at her church. Just then, sjamp received a message from above (or below or to the side; who knows) so we went in search of nearby residents.
With the next numbers confirmed, off we went to await further guidance. Again, too much time was passing so I went for a walk and found the cache in the meantime. We never did get the second message. This modern technology, travelling at the speed of lead, certainly demands patience.
Liked the location and the history I came across researching this. Thanks BB.

Having only done a few chirp enabled caches I was looking forward to this one. We arrived at the door and noticed two people a short distance away. Presumably they would know what we were up to so we spent some time near the door, then more time and more still. I have yet to learn how often these things 'wake up' and communicate, and have had to wait for different lengths of time at each of the infrequent encounters. But this was taking forever and I was beginning to wonder if the battery was getting old. Eventually the message was received, just as someone came over to talk to us. We explained geocaching and then headed to the next location.
Using a traditional method we worked out the next coordinates and continued our walk. Then we waited for reception of our next instruction via the battery operated medium. Perhaps there were too many communications happening at this place, because the one we were expecting never arrived. Meanwhile Baktrak, seeming to have received his own communication via a different medium, headed off and found the cache. I still wonder what the final message would have been! Thanks bikerbuddy.

Was here watching PPE trying for this cache as I stood back and watch him work his magic. After he found the cache I placed a TB in it to move on. Nice to be back.
Thanks bikerbuddy, for a truly memorable cache.
I dropped in here on a trip down to Sydney from the nicer side of the blue mountains ...
Actually, I am the CO of one of the 36 chirp / beacon caches in Australia, so I thought it was high time that I actually find one myself!
I must say, you've made better use of the technology than I have... I quite enjoyed the hunt that we were taken on and the puzzle(s) that we had to solve to come up with the goods, well done!
My daughter (6) asked me: "what IS this place?" and I realised that there were some conversations we hadn't had yet... It was an interesting drive home!!

Not having a chirp feature, this was going to sit on our unfound list for a while and it has! Frustratingly, it has remained the closest unfound cache to home for a while now and finally, with a good old bit of investigation, managed to get the name needed and we were under way! Geowife went out to grab this one today and it didn't take too long to find it. Glad to have it off the list and interesting to learn about some of the history that is in the area. TFTC. Will have to go do Pioneer now....
We have been meaning to do this one for some time but, as we thought that it might take a while to do, we were waiting for the opportunity to take a long lunch. Today we had some spare time so we set off full of expectation, and a little trepidation, as we had never used the Chirp feature on the eTrex before. In fact, when I first received the unit I was unaware that it had this capability.
Anyway, it all went very well, though I was glad we studied the cache description beforehand. The Chirp component worked perfectly, we received both loud and clear, and all the calculations were made without issue, except that my old eyes had trouble deciphering some of the more indistinct of the numbers.
We were also very happy to have been brought to such a fantastic location, so rich in history and blessed with such natural and architectural beauty. Brilliant, thanks bikerbuddy, it gets a favourite from me.

Found with Mr MR. This was such a romantic setting, reminding me of an old English country churchyard with the beautiful stone church, shady trees and ancient fading gravestones. For setting and originality, it certainly deserves a favourite point. The cache was quite visible so we improved the camo to render it less likely to be found by accident. SL TFTC
When I got my replacement GPSr from Garmin many weeks ago is when I noticed the device was able to detect chirps. So yesterday I finally got to use it for the first time. I just didn't read all the notes correctly and didn't realise there were two chirps. I waited for a minute or so at WP1 yesterday and the chirp was eventually detected. The waypoints were retrieved and off we went to the location with my geo-wife. I let her do the correlating of data and unknown to me the first number was incorrect. It sent the co-ords off to Springwood and I knew something was incorrect. So I decided to take a few photo's and after arriving home I could see what was incorrect. So this afternoon azazzlenic and I loaded with co-ords went down to find this cache. Though I didn't realise these were co-ords for the second chirp. Azazzlenic thought I had misinterpreted one of the numbers. So I quickly changed the co-ords. What we didn't realise was that these weren't the co-ordinates at all but just happened to be 6 metres from GZ and we inadvertantly found the cache. Once confirming with the CO that my original co-ords were correct I went and received the second chirp signal which in turn pointed us to the same location we've previously located just by chance. So we had an entertaining afternoon overall. TFTC.
Always fun when you intend to find a cache and then end up finding it by accident!?!
The geodad had already done part of the calcs when we rocked up to this one as part of my driving lesson. We went to the next co-ords but then found no cache in sight. So back to the drawing board and I had a few numbers changed. And cache was found.
It was only after this that the CO rings us and we find that we've actually done the cache wrong! Then went back to check if the second chirp we ignored was there and sure enough, our mistake was an amazing strike of luck. Such is the madness of caching
TFTC even if we did it wrong

Teamed up with Steeba and Hoojar for a days caching through the mountains. This was one of our many finds for the day.
This cache took us 2 attempts today and was nearly a DNF. Having made a start on the sister Pioneer cache I knew exactly who we'd be looking for as we arrived at GZ. The problem was we got our maths wrong on our first attempt.
Coming back after bluies event we soon corrected our error and were quickly ontot he next spot and then GZ.
Thanks for this knifty chirp cache

Found with The Rats and Hoojar on a run through the Blue Mountains.
We had a crack at this in the morning and it must have been too early as we had a waypoint off into the gaol. A return in the afternoon and we soon sorted things, off to the next chirp and then cache in hand. I certainly enjoyed this little cache and the use of the chirps. Thanks!

Early this morning (read, 730am just after breakfast) Steeba, The Rats and I DNF'd this cache. Something just did not add up, and we moved on to greener pastures. On our way back down the mountain this afternoon we decided to stop and check our numbers, and hopefully rectify our DNF. It turned out that one number was wrong. With this fixed, we quickly worked out where we should have been and made the find.
A fun little cache that earns a favourite point from me.
Cheers

Been meaning to try out my chirp enabled gps and this is quite close to home. Took friends. Great find, left zombie apocalypse sticker and took tiny little toy story alien.
About two years ago I found this spot and was always going to place a cache there. Today I went to look over the spot and, to my surprise, found the cache. I notice that the Log Book also lists one other person who found it accidentally. They were not registered cacher's apparently, but did log their visit in the log Book. The cache is in very good condition.

I saw this cache and realised it was a beacon chirp one. Cool, I have the tools, so today on my way to the Mountains for a weekend of caching, I went for this mystery. WP1, stopped at the door and in no time the chirp was picked up and info downloaded. I even found the chirp itself, nicely hidden
I then moved on to WP2 and started to take down some more info. The numbers were a little hard to make out, but got there in the end. Then headed off to GZ and after a little look, found cache and a great little spot! Cool. SL, TNLN and replaced.
I say keep up the beacon's BB if you can, I'll keep going for them! TFTC.

Sorry this has taken so long. The second chirp went missing. It has now been replaced.
I'm going to temporarily disable this cache until I can go check it just as a warning that there may be issues with one of the chirps. However, you're welcome to log a find on it in the meantime if you want.
After a helping hand the chirping part was activated. Needed a PAF because the gps wouldn't receive the info from the second chirp, It was recognised, just not talking to one another. Not too long after had cache in hand.

Hi Mark. it might come down to operator error than anything, as I have never completed a chirp cache before.

This is one of the better caches that I have done in a while.
A history lesson about a person I had not heard of before, a nice old church and a walk around a cemetery in the dark (alone)........What more could you ask for.
When the chirp had connected and downloaded its info, I headed off to the next part of the puzzle. The cloud had come in and blocked any moon light that had been there and the torch had to be used. Located the site and gathered the required info.
On working out GZ back at the car it was off to the derived co-ords and the search began. Couple of likely spots where the GPS zeroed but no prize. Widened the area and soon had the CIH. The sun was just starting to lighten the sky as I was signing the log and it seems that it has been discovered by muggles, as it was quite exposed, who wrote in the log book and returned it to its hide.
By the time I had repacked the cache, and covered it with whatever I could find, the sun had risen enough for me to return to the car without the use of the torch.
An excellent cache bikerbuddy. More people should do it.
I am now going to put it's sister cache on the must do list.

Not having a chirp GPS, nor having done Pioneer I was quite saddened when this cache first came up as it was teasing me for a FTF, but with no way of doing so had to let it slide...
Thankfully we'd recently commenced the most notoriously quite springwood cache and was endowed with enough knowledge to complete this one today.
I knew the area well, as a good friend works as a student minister at this very church. Had a little bit of trouble reading some of the answers, but with a little perseverance and a quick search had cache in hand sure enough. Thanks for this on bikerbuddy, hope to come back with some kind of chirp device just to see what it's like...
cheers
oh, dropped off fairy TB, stole geocoin...

Did this without a chirper. Child bride and I visited the Springwood library a week or so ago to do some research, damned if we could find the 2nd bit of info in the library, but I took pics of the pages in question.
A classic spot to hide a cache, a bit on the fantasy side of things, I dunno, maybe I am nuts
Interesting old church, love the old doors.

Our first Chirp assisted cache! Good fun, nice and quiet there on a lazy Sunday afternoon. GZ needed a little search to find, but there were only a couple of places it could be. SL, TNLN, TFTC! VK2GOM - Rob & Jess
Completed on a sunny morning.
It's the first time I used the Chirp feature - thanks.
Enjoyed the experience.

Found this one after having to update firmware on the garmin dakota 20. Once the update was applied everything else worked smoothly. Quickly had the cache in hand, log signed and then returend. TYFC
Knowing who the Pioneer was, from the fabulous "Pioneer" cache, I was able to get enough information to be able to find this without the Chirp!?!

This caches required me to brush-up on my skimpy knowledge of "chirps". I always thought chirps were what birds do, but Garmin has it's own variety.
After updating my 450's software I was armed and ready for the challenge. Quiet simple to use really and the required information "chirped" it's way through the airwaves and I was off to WP2. There the next lot of info was gathered, the sums completed and GZ was soon located!!
A different concept, it will be interesting to see how many complete this cache.

I'm not a church going person, so I was in no thoughts about a service happening today. err its a Sunday Josh?? Anyways, got to WP1?? the chirp, and begun retrieving the necessary information to continue. It failed first time but successful the second. About the chirp, I think its a good idea, and I would love to give this a go for one of my future caches. But I'll have to buy my own as I found the cache and the log book already with a first entry. How did I missed this FTF??? and the chirp prize?!?! Was quite amazed as the relevant information which puts you very close to my Opa (grandfather). His very Dutch name is there with his "Aussie" equivalent! Well done Bikerbuddy! And I agree to this being a mystery, not a multi, but what can you do. TNLN SL. TFTC.
FTF!!! Sorry to spoil your morning Josh, but I obviously got going earlier than you this morning. We possibly only just missed each other - people were still arriving for the church service when I left. And since you actually want to try out a chirp, I'll make you an offer - if you find the Pioneer sister cache, I'll give up the chirp to you.
I was debating whether or not this would be findable by me, because I don't have a chirp compatible GPSr. However I did have the advantage of having already found Pioneer, so I knew which grave to look for and which section of the cemetary he would be in. It didn't take too long to find the right grave and gather the information for the next wapoint. The maths for this one was an easy calculation. Finding GZ after that was partly luck & partly geosense. I won't say anymore about that because that would give away the location. In the end it was an easy find for a very nice cache.
Thanks bikerbuddy for another enjoyable multi. I had a long walk around the cemetary after rehiding the cache, it's a lovely cemetary to wander through.

I've already had a question about the classification of this cache via email tonight. It has been suggested that this is a Mystery, not a Multi cache, since there is no alternative way to find the cache beside the chirp. Let me say that I submitted it as a Mystery cache and I was told to change it to a multi by the reviewer because the coordinates for the cache are where you have to start, as you would a multi. This was not my choice, but I complied to get the cache published. If anyone else thinks it's a mystery, I agree, but what could I do?
Also, the cache was initially knocked back because it was supposedly commercial. This was because I was trying to inform everyone which GPS models are currently listed as compatible with the chirp. Given that the chirp is only put out by Garmin at the moment, this seemed to me a silly request (especially since I can name a cache in Sydney that not only uses a product name, but also the advertising line as its title) So, according to Garmin, you can receive a chirp signal if you have one of the following units: Oregon 550, 550t, 450, 450t, Dakota 20, GPSMAP 78sc, 78s, 62st or 62s.
I don't own shares in Garmin. I'm not trying to sell you this. I'm just trying to give information!
