Hi BitsprayerThis geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived. Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.RegardsTheCoddiwompler
Found where we thought it should be as per instructions and GPS, saw some likely looking rocks but nothing there. Had a good look around but no joy.
Here today to walk the loop track and get all the caches on it, and was nearly at the end, but ...
Sadly this one eluded me. Lots of very thick leaf litter, app location for GZ was jumping around all over the place, didn't find hint helpful in this instance as there were hint items everywhere (and many of them were covered by the thick mat of leaves) - even with the extra set of eyes of my muggle partner I couldn't find this one and with battery running low and still a couple of caches to go yet I finally conceded defeat. Mine entrance further up was a very interesting relic we enjoyed checking out and imagining the work here.

Enjoyed this walk today and picked up all ten caches. Lots of superb autumn colours on display, along with on and off drizzle! This was a quick find, however the logbook is mush. Took a photo as evidence of my find. #6082. TFTC.
In Dunedin for a wee Easter school holiday adventure. Rather wet so not sure what we'll be doing for the few days that we are down here! Today the aim was to visit Lawrence and then complete the walk around Gabriels Gully as MrsTGs ancesters mined here at the time....After having some lunch and waiting for a heavy shower to pass we set forth form the car with raincoats and umbrellas...thankfully the rain held off.
Whoow, cool mine. Short people alright. Gosh, what they did to find their gold.Logbook a bit soggy; managed to make my mark with my write in the rain pen...thanks.

The final find while wandering this track before needing to turn around and head back. The logbook is stuffed here unfortunately and will need replacing at some stage soon. TFTC
Tftc! Nice cooler area of the track. Spooky mine!! Logbook is wet can’t sign. But found it fun walk so far
After a night camping, took off to do the loop track before heading further inland. Found with Conbat. TFTC!
A nice quick find. Log could use some TLC. Follow your GPS. Thanks for placing your cache.
Time for another road trip for Ms_KR and KR, so we headed south toward Otago. We cruised through from Ranfurly to Lawrence today, With some biking and some walking too. Another glorious day.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

We really enjoyed our walk up and around the workings. We live close to a gold mining area (still working) with lots of relics in the area which are semi preserved. It's great to see other areas but a bit disappointing to see most relics gone. Thanks for bringing us here bitsprayer. Note: the logbook is quite manky.
We have been doing the Dwarp series so it good to have some more information about the area thanks Bitsprayer for the hide and history
Day two caching and seeing the sights of Otago and a bit of Southland with raylnz (big Sis from CH-Ch.) Brilliant day in Lawrence. Good to be out and about before our next self-imposed home detention. tftc

Needs new log. Very wet. Out the second day sightseeing and caching with gdkja. Tftc
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up in Lawerence for a couple days … some biking on the Clutha Goldfields Trail & walking into Gabriels Gully are on the agenda … decided we would do the loop track around Gabriels Gully today … be rude not to grab a few caches … working in here wouldn’t be for the faint hearted, or for the tall … found with no issues, log completed & successfully returned … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,045 for us.
Thanks for the cache bitsprayer. Have been wanting to come up here for sometime and pick up the collection of caches in this area. Also I have never been to the gully before so wanted to come check out the history here. It was all interesting. Seems strange now to think of all those people living and working here.

Thoroughly enjoying our walk around the gully - whats left of it - and a smiley as well. Cache was looking a bit sorry for itself, so we replaced the plastic bag. All good now. TFTC
After having breakfast, we started our little walk to Gabriel's Gully.
The one before on this track, we couldn't find, (Maybe we were just blind.) but this one we found and after that we took a look inside the cave, where unfortunately no gold was left.
Tanks for this wonderful journey to the past. We really would like to dig gold now.

The hiding place was almost screaming out to me. That's fine, this is a cache where the purpose is being there, not the cache itself. Thank you for the hide.
.The Pit has been snagged and tagged. Cheers. Would have loved to explore this pit. Time to move along.
Its Wednesday 24 April and we are off exploring Milburn, Lawrence and Lake Mahinarangi today. Awesome!!
Its another awesome geoventure to Dunedin, with The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby, Jack, Jill and William all along for the trip. Had a wonderful 10 days exploring Dunedin. It was great catching up with local cachers at several events we attended. Lots of walking and driving, with the odd cycle and wave ride to jazz things up. Thanks to all the COs that made this trip a wonderful success. Even managed to bag some lab caches along with wherigos, earth caches and events, with the usual mix taking us to some amazing places..

Cellphone had me right at the adit initially. but it changed its mind and I found the cache, further back than expected. Shame we can't go in. But there are other mines where you can (and I have). In Marlborough, if you ever want to come up and explore.
Taybeedragon and I have an eleven day Easter weekend in Dunedin. Although, let's face it, given that we are from Blenheim and Picton that means two of those days was spent in travelling. In that time we grabbed a smidge over three hundred caches. Not bad, considering the amount of time spent way out on the back roads, on bicycles or canoeing on the water. A few virtuals, larges, letterboxes, earths, wherigos, and even ten lab caches in the haul. An awesome weekend!

Mirko83 and I are traveling through New Zealand from the 15th of december to the 10th of January. We rent a camper, one of the jucy green ones. We made a long list of places we want to visit. Geocaches are on our list as well. This will be fun
We came here to hike around the area and see what is left of the old gold ages. Also my first time I could fly my drone in New Zealand. This place was in the permit included, so I took lots of pictures from above. Thank you for the cache.

WhTs not to love about a caching trip combined with downsouthinv having to deliver parts for work.
Any excuse is a good one, and time to head off the main road into the wilderness to find us some caches.
Was amazing to think how they managed to do what they do with so little

At last, a free weekend before the onset of chaos. An early morning phone call...'are you able to take xyz up north to a customer?''
There was no excuse not to, quickly chucked clothes on dragged her outta bed raced into work, got parts, and on the road before 8am.
As we drove, the voice from the passenger seat, piped up and said ' look at all these, aren't we going near here?'
Oooh Goody!! Now it's a fun work trip, might be a long day!!!
A nice walk to pick up this one .
Amazing what the miners achieved with a pick and shovel.

Found with our 2 and 5 y.o. T4TC. Thanks! Cache pretty visible from the track! Mine shaft is cool.
Winter leaves and GPS dancing all over the place conspired against us for this one
Many thanks to all the COs who helped make our geocaching holiday a great success
We left home early April and returned 21 May 2018. We toured from our home base up to a wedding in North Taranaki then carried on heading south right down through wellington and on down the west coast and back up via the eastern side of the alps some times going around in circles. Our aim was to get as many smiley faces on the puzzle caches that we had solved but of course stopping for many traditionals, multies and others as we went. some time we biked the bike trails or walked but mostly by campervan. we enjoyed the quite back country roads, many of them were metal but we just travelled along slowly going from cache to cache. Most caches were in good condition and I will remark if we thought it needs maintence etc.

Camped close by, so a quick run late in the day to see how many we could grab. Last one as it was getting a bit dark. TFTC!!!
A planned power outage forced us from home, so we decided to do a nice walk. Picked the Interpretive Trail and didn't regret our choice. Beaut summer's day, not a soul on the track beside ourselves, so could wander and search without question.
Found this one while geowife investigated the actual pit. TNLN. TFTC.

Second time here and walked the GZ down from the other end of the loop track. Seen something so obvious how could I miss that the first time. Glorious day but the track is a bit muddy on the hill. TFTC
Oh my Goodness......here it was all that time, amazing how the blue skies created a clear approach on this visit. So amazed was I that it was only fair that I dropped in a coin!
This looks like the miners have returned what with all the turmoil in and around the area- sadly no success for me
Out for a caching adventure to the Lawrence area with Sirbennis. Was an easy find this one and in to the next one. TFTC
Took too long. Second search and was about to throw in the towel when suddenly . . . what's that over there? TFTC
Heading home after a lovely week in Central so we planned to head to Gabriel's Gully to explore and find some caches. This was our seventh on the loop track and a nice quick find. TFTC
After a picnic lunch we decided to walk the most interesting historical Gabriel's Gulley loop track, following the original water race. There were many interesting interpretation boards & old mining relics and of course, a few caches hiden in interesting localities. Thanks for placing them .
A gentle stroll around the Gold fields heritage trail and a few caches along the way. Difficult to imagine the true scale of the operations. TFTC

Out on a daytrip with the OTMC so I decided to tackle the few I missed out on last year. This was only one of two that we went by and my GPSr hadn't woken up before we passed the other one. I have an excuse to come back another time.
We finally arrived at Gabriel's Gully and completed the circuit of caches today, finishing right on dusk.
Visited the pit further down the road. A relatively quick find in the dark thanks to the hint.
TFTC and for bringing us to this very interesting area.

Was dark (and very cold) by the time we go to this cache.
Careful thinking about the hint made for a pretty quick find by Just-Lookin
Enjoyed this area.

A gorgeous autumn day wandering the Gabriel's Gully area looking for caching "gold".
My class having been studying the history of Dunedin this term and reading the novel "Shining Rivers" by Ruth Dallas which tells the story of Johnnie Crawford about who makes his way from Dunedin to the Goldfields of Tuapeka to make his fortune.
Think we might visit and cache this area as a class to finish off our study. TFTC

Was just heading to mine for a look and thought, hmm those rocks are precariously placed, looks like a cache! And it was haha. Will do more in area with more time. TFTC
As we were walking with the Juniors, we came across a mother and daughter sitting on the chair nearby. The mother jumped up like she was about to run away which was very strange . Another good hide on a lovely walk. TFTC bitsprayer.
Foudn and logged with granville86a, thanks for the cache in a brillant location!
Had a good look around, but signal wandering a bit today and everything covered in leaves - Maybe next time.
Ran in an orienteering event here a few years ago and have been meaning to get back, do the walk and visit the caches. Thanks.
