Nice multi with great views, now waypoint resolved. Found with geotween, Aurora11511, who was more interested in pretending to be a lioness, lying around on the top of the warm nearby roof, then actually looking for the cache! TFTC trancer96 et al Smile

26-Feb-24
WP1 has been restored and the multi is good to go again. I have tweaked the WP1 hint slightly to hint that you're not looking for what you might be expecting here.

25-Feb-24
Surprisingly I managed to reproduce the exact method by which the original WP1 was implemented and despite considering a minor improvement to greatly improve readability and reduce fading over time that didn't work as well as planned and so it is actually identical to the original except for being easier to read on account of being newer.

23-Feb-24
Came to perform some maintenance at WP1 for which I would have had to disable the cache anyway but half of the numbers were missing anyway. So now it's not just an improvement job but a remake job. I don't have what I need to repair in the spirit of the original but I can get something which means it might take longer than planned to restore.

22-Feb-24
No luck finding Co-ords

20-Feb-24
Failed at the first hurdle- couldn't find the coord at the Trig.

13-Jan-24
Paid this a visit as the new owner to re-acquaint myself with it since it has been many years since I found it. I'm not too thrilled about the state of the numbers that need to be read at WP1 and I will have to do something to improve that. If you find the items in question before I improve them but cannot read them then send me a photo of them (to show you at least found them) and I will "decode" them. I had trouble reading them even though I knew the numbers I was expecting to see.Everything's good at the cache which was last refreshed by SAROC in 2019.

12-Jan-24
Trig B0N2 (Wellington) was transferred from SAROC to user trancer96

23-Aug-23
Gosh, what a glorious day to be at this lookout! Not a breath of wind, warm sunshine, harbour like a millpond. I've been here once before, but, running out of time, I'd failed to spot the numbers. Today I was able to search a little more carefully, and spotted the camouflage. A quick find a few minutes later at GZ. All well in the container. Tftc!

07-Jul-23
#154. My first multi in years. TFTC.

02-Jun-23
Not long after logging my heavy hearted DNF, I heard a voice tell me to look inside.
Was the voice from above?
Not quite. It was SAROC, coming through my voice reader on my phone.

The message gave new inspiration, but unfortunately, I was already out of town.
But the next day, I eagerly returned to B0N2.

I had a plan.
First, clean down the trig.
Using just twigs and a brush I made from blades of grass, I thoroughly cleared most of the spider webs.
This proved to be successful because it revealed what many were looking for.
However, even after cleaning it, the camouflage is so good that you'd still be forgiven for missing them!
(Focus)

I never made it to step 2 of the plan, which was to check the ground for fallen items. But I had found them already and had the numbers for the next waypoint. Greatly summing down hint 2.

WP2 required a bit of a thorough look.
I assume because of how long it's been undetected. Meaning the longer it is unfound, the more thorough search is required. It should make sense to those who have already found it.

Thanks again for the help.
I'm really happy I found this.
It's one of my favorite places since I was a kid in the 80's.

It was one of the first caches I tried in Feb 2023 when I started caching again.

Favorited.

Cheers.

30-May-23
It's about time I log a DNF here.
I must have tried about 5 times since about February.
I read that some can't find the coordinates and have resorted to geosense.
I also tried that, but I must not have such powers just yet.

I am submitting now. Which is kind of sad. I grew up here and one of my all-time favorite lookouts.

Cheers

28-Jun-22
Short wet walk up the hill. Saw signs of celebrating muggles around waypoint and wondered how the coords would be kept safe. That was soon answered with only minimal consternation — cleverly done! A brief coord update and off to the final… also a quick find. Thanks TL/SAROC! Only 197 multi dot days to go

09-Mar-22
I was in the area tonight collecting a few caches, and this was one of them. Prior to coming here, I had read all the past logs, so knew that what I was looking for was not gonna be obvious but try as I might I could not find anything that resembled what I needed. I looked in and under and around and over. Nothing. However, I had also read that others had found the cache by geosense alone, so I thought I'd give that a go. I wasn’t hopeful, up until this point I don’t think I have ever found a cache that way. My first look, down a nearby trail that led to a hint object gave me nothing and I was getting close to giving up but had one more idea to try. And amazingly (to me) I spotted a flash of familiar blue plastic. Cache was found safe and dry. Feeling pretty good about this one. TFTC.

01-Nov-20
Decided to do a little detour on our way north after a fun game of mini-golf in Porirua. Struggled to figure out the coordinates at WP1 but managed to locate the cache. The cache is in good condition. Great views from the trig and reservoir. TFTC

25-Oct-20
Took a long time to get there but the geo-senses had us with cache in hand

25-Oct-20
Well that was an interesting one. With Geeves90. Ended up reading the other activities and went a hunting.

30-May-20
An un-ideal first attempt at a return to geocaching. I spent a good 15 minutes combing the hint looking for the object, and even with a small nudge from the co i was still unable to locate it. Maybe wait for another log before checking this one, though, since I could just be a fool.

17-Dec-19
feel stupid for not finding it sooner

28-Sep-19
Thanks for the help with this one, 3 journeys and we finally found it. Awesome spot, awesome find. might need a pencil sharpener next people!! we tried our best to sharpen it with our keys hahaha

17-Jul-19
Dropped by this afternoon to check on the cache. WP1 (Cache coordinates) was all fine with the information available even though the trig has been tagged by miscreants. Went to the final and was just about to put a new container down when I spied the original hiding in the leaf litter. Took the opportunity to replace the log book with a fresh new one.

28-Jun-19
This geocacher reported that the cache might be missing.

28-Jun-19
I notice there hasn't been any logged caching activity here for nearly a year, and I'm not sure what the state of the location was beforehand. But the trig appears to have been vandalised somewhat, and I couldn't see any sign of WP1 or something containing the needed numbers.

Perhaps I'm barking up the wrong tree with what I was looking for, but I'm flagging this anyway just in case the tagging is related to my failure to find.

21-Sep-18
I had a good poke around under the tree but could not spy the cache.

09-Aug-17
Took a while to find under leaf litter in the dark. all good at GZ

Thanks for another smilie and multi.

Hoping to see you at the [Oamaru Geofest](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC6M2V0_oamaru-geofest-2017) during Labour Weekend 21-22 October 2017. Let's all help this a successful event!

Thanks to the Cache Owner who has gone to the trouble of creating this cache, determining the coordinates and then averaging them to make sure they are accurate, placing the cache and registering it online for our enjoyment. Without Cache Owners doing their bit, there wouldn't be a fun hobby that we all love - so again a big THANK YOU. For our bit, all we need to do is find and log the cache that was carefully placed for our personal enjoyment. As we log it we should consider that the Cache Owner also needs to maintain it - when the log sheet fills up, they must replace it. When the container becomes full of water, they need to empty it. When the container is broken, they need to repair it. When it goes missing they need to find or replace it. Well..... the great news is we can do our bit too - make sure your log doesn't take an entire page - just a name and date. If full of water, empty and dry the cache as best as possible. Be careful when handling the cache and make sure you replace it where you found it. If it has a bag, seal it. Just remember - the Cache Owner showed respect to you by placing the cache - please respect them and fellow cachers that follow you by being careful with the cache. And if you have a spare log sheet and the cache you are at needs one, please leave it behind. Finally, if the cache does need maintenance, please let the Cache Owner know - you can log a Maintenance Log or you can drop a line to the Cache Owner. Above all - have fun and remember the Geocaching Code.

What a wonderful view, so took a panoramic photo. At GZ I found an implement for searching the leaf litter and bingo the cache was found. TFTC

10-Jun-17
Amazing view from the first way point. Some beautiful graffiti art on the water reservoir.

04-May-17
Quickly got to the trig but couldn't see any numbers. Tiook in the views then tried a different tack. Saw some thing a little unusual so checked it out. Eureka the new coords were calculated.

Went to the final and saw the container in the open and opened up. Nothing was in it so it was obviously muggled. I put in a new log and a little toy that was lying nearby. Put back by the clue item and covered with plenty of leaf material. Hopefully it will last.

This one may need to be repositioned somewhere else due to the muggling. TFTC

12-Feb-17
I got to the trig easily enough but there inspiration left me. I peered in all the places I thought might yield some clue but spotted nothing.

After a while admiring the artwork on the nearby reservoir and the view from the top I looked again and this time spotted something unexpected. CD was quickly in my hands and AB followed shortly thereafter.

Easy find at GZ because the cache had migrated a short distance from its hint object and was in plain view. Replaced closer and better hidden.

TFTC!

14-Jan-17
I had attempted this one over a year ago without success. So I returned today determined to make amends. I reached the trig and safely avoiding the prominent code found another code of the same length which gave up some likelyish looking coordinates. Had a look but couldn't find anything. I returned to the trig for another look when I spotted something that I didn't see from an initial angle. Ah yes, that's what I've been looking for! Another peek and soon had the full set. These coordinates were a lot more straightforward and the cache itself was a straightforward find. Glad to be able to get a smiley for this one. TFTC

01-Oct-16
I was wondering in what form the required numbers would be presented. After a bit of an examination I spotted something very subtle worth investigating. Oh, just hieroglyphics. Then I realized I was looking at it "wrong" and after a small correction half of the puzzle revealed itself. Nice. Where's the rest then? Hiding a bit better that's all but it soon revealed its secret too. Created the final coords and was pleased to see it wasn't too far away. I could see it when I got there but it was slightly tricky to reach. It probably would have been easier if it wasn't raining as I didn't want to crawl on the ground. The rain paused just long enough for me to open and sign the log without getting its contents wet. Nice multi.

17-Jul-16
Little hard to find the clue, cleverly hidden.

17-Jul-16
Found it and dropped some TB's.

17-Jul-16
Tricky finding numbers at the trig but got there in the end and then onto a straight forward find. Cache all good. TFTC

15-Jun-16
#2291 Had some time to kill this evening before a bike ride so popped up here to finish what I started over a year ago. Tonight it was an instant find in the spot I look so fruitlessly at last time I was here. Nice to have a smiley here now. TFTC!

08-Jun-16
Having obtained the coords from a previous visit when the final was missing, today went straight to my previous search point and in hands within seconds. Thanks for replacing the cache.

30-Mar-16
Despite the low terrain rating, I was expecting a more challenging hike to the waypoint. It took me a little while to find the information needed - a good method of concealment. No problems were encountered at the cache site. Thanks Hurricane Luke and SAROC.

17-Feb-16
Thanks to Saroc for getting this cache back up and running.
After a previous DNF I called round to the final location this evening for a quick find by torchlight. I took the trackable and will move it along.
Thanks very much for a good cache in a great spot. Well worth a favourite point.

25-Jan-16
Initially had difficulty locating the missing coordinates but with some 'in-sight' provide by SAROC things started to look up and I was able to discover the attraction of this cache. Dropped off "Casalada Express" trackable.

30-Nov-15
Dropped by this afternoon. Confirmed the information is where it should be so you can find the next stage. Have also replaced the cache at the final. Its now a 200ml container with a log and pencil included. A few items of swag for the kids.
It was a stunning view this afternoon with heaps of sun and just a gentle breeze hardly enough to get the long grass swaying. Come and enjoy.

28-Nov-15
Trig B0N2 (Wellington) was transferred from anzac61 to SAROC

20-Aug-15
Well after completing another nearby multi I decided to stroll up to the trig to investigate this one.
I found the required numbers straight away and after enjoying the views for a while I went to the indicated final location, which fitted in with the hint.
Unfortunately after a good 30 minutes of searching high and low I had to admit defeat. I think that the CO maybe should investigate here as I'm not the first to DNF in recent months.

02-May-15
After scratching my head about the needed numbers and contemplating abandoning the search due to the cold, I finally found what I was looking for! Unfortunately this didn't lead to a find at GZ despite a prolonged search of the area. Will pop this one on my watchlist and come back another day to complete the formalities. Loved the WP (once I got what I needed from it!). Sneaky.

25-Apr-15
Unlike the last finder I did find the right coords with the info readily available. Led me to 1 tree but no sign of cache. Looked for about 15 minutes but no luck. Will have to have another think about where I need to be.

26-Feb-15
#531. Haven't done a multi for a while. Saw this one was very close to some nearby caches I had just found. Raced up the hill to collect the relevant numbers and see if I could figure out where the final was. Well I saw some numbers but nothing leapt out at me as a likely solution. Time was running short for school pick-up so thought I would quickly check out a few likely hiding spots in the general area. Third spot checked had the goods. Nice when that happens! Awesome 360 degrees views from the trig. Shame the weather was hazy as you could get some stunning photos here on a good day. TFTC

21-Nov-14
Thanks for bringing me here, love coming across trigs! Easy find at the location Smile day 9 of 10 for the 10 day multi streak yay!

21-Nov-14
Awesome thanks for the cache!

19-Oct-14
Spent quite a while up at point one as we weren't thinking correctly. Once we found the coordinates had to wait for phone GPS to calibrate before an easy find at the final. TFTC!

13-Oct-14
Quick solve at WP1 and then onto the final which was located without any problems. I grew up in this area as a child. It looks so very different now and also remembered the trek up to the trig being much steeper Smile. TFTC

02-Sep-14
Enjoyed the views from the trig. I'm a bit confused as what I thought were the numbers for the final put me somewhere I wasn't expecting. However I tried a variant and it lead me to a likely location.. cache soon in hand Smile TFTC

18-Jun-14
Had sorted out coordinates for the final on a previous visit, and then saved this cache for a dot-day. Another early-morning raid over the hill before work. Always enjoy trig caches. This was a little tricky in the dark, but eventually managed to find the clues to resolve the final.

TFTC!

05-Apr-14
Needed a second cache for the dot dot day and even though this was a second multi for the day, it was too close to pass up on. Great views and numbers found very easily. Not the method of hiding I had imagined before my visit. Easy find at final. All got and dry.

13-Jan-14
Quickly located plaque, but this had faded so all I could make out was the Trig number stamped on it. A quick Internet search provided a potential number set. Used these for the calculations, and decided to investigate tonight. The geotrail raised my hopes - others had looked there before me. However the GPS was moody tonight and wouldn't settle, so I investigated the most likely locations, finding only a couple of empty bottles. I decided my location was too close to peoples houses to search further on assumed information, so gave up. Nice evening, and nice views though.

14-Sep-13
Here on a very encouraging September spring day. That was good.
We located the needed data with ease and we were impressed withe simplicity but cleverness of the arrangement. Gets a fave from us.
At GZ we found the cache in straightforward fashion, and all in order; log signed, cache safely re-hidden, just as found.

31-Aug-13
Like many others we couldn't find the elusive numbers, so we resorted to our caching instincts for a reasonable quick find. Great views from up here, thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.

20-Aug-13
Found on a quiet sunny afternoon. It took me longer than anticipated to find the necessary information once up at the trig with my iPhone suggesting I look some meters away from where I eventually found what I needed to complete the multi. Obviously there were some rogue satellites about. TFTC

Find #144 for the BAMMJams - the mini-BammJams waved at the neighbours on our way up to the trig, and then we quickly had the cache in hand. Took a blue stone out and replaced it with a dice. TFTC!

26-Jul-13
We waited around at waypoint awhile while a muggle showed his kid around. Managed to retrieve required numbers pretty easily once found. Good view of antennae on top of reservoir that had fallen over. had trouble finding cache until I discovered it on the ground. Replaced where I thought it should be. Maybe all the commotion lately shook it free.

Didn't take long to spot.
Walked off and 1Bumblebee quickly spotted the cache.

Found on morning run while back in Wellington. Found numbers...nicely done. Must have dropped pen coming up hill so couldn't sign log. I'll come up and sign on next tour to this part of NZ. TFTC

13-Apr-13
Cool views

17-Mar-13
Last up here two years ago before there was a cache placed. Nice to come up again with my canine friend for a good blow out after the totally disappointing rugby result Sad and a relatively quick find of the numbers and then the cache.

Logging my Scenic Traveller and visiting Punk Duck TBs in & out. Will be leaving Punk Duck in NZ once I find a suitable place.

First cache of the new year. Assisted by Jack our 2 year old corgi. Should have given him credit when I logged the last 2 caches in this area. Sure was windy tonite. Thanks

24-Nov-12
Nice wee cache. Great to have one that didn't require too much work to solve or retrieve. TFTM

23-Sep-12
We walked up (or in my case crawled up the really steep bit) from 3 Island View, and was was feeling a little shakey from the effort so decided StreetWalker should gather the info from the trig while I lurked by the reservoir. There were several children playing here and was a bit worried that they may hinder any search, but luckily they cleared out by the time SW returned with the final co-ords. After realising he should be looking for a micro, the cache was a quick find.
Good to "clear out" the caches from this area. TFTC.

23-Sep-12
#4133. Find the numbers was straightforward (not sure why so many people have trouble with them), and it was a reasonably quick find. Good idea to bring people up to the trig. TFTC.

11-Jul-12
The graffiti artists have been hard at work on the tank with lots of new colours in evidence. No one around today. Couldn't find the numbers at the trig, but admired the views then had a educated guess at the final and there it was! TFTC

29-Apr-12
A very windy visit to check this cache today. The secret information one can find at the trig is still in place and readable, and the cache itself is in good condition - added a logbag to the logbook.

24-Apr-12
No numbers at trig. Searched logical spots and came up empty handed. Will wait for a successful log entry before trying again.

05-Feb-12
No luck getting the required numbers but found the cache anyway after a hunt.

Nice quick multi cache. Great views on a brilliant morning. Violet Butterfly had fun walking up to the trig.
A weed sprayer man arrived as we were at final. After exchanging pleasantries managed to get cache back to location, but might not be as well hiddne as before, as spending too much time would have been very conspicuous. And he had told us he was there for a while.

I've been geocaching with my dad and mum for a while now, but they wouldn't let me log anything. Since I started walking to the caches and taking an interest in what is inside, though, dad decided today was the day I could begin my own account. I walked all the way to the top! Took a nice shiny stone and left lots of love. Thank you for my first official cache!
btw Log book will say Purple Butterfly, because that's what I wanted to call myself, but someone else had the name.

Not quite sure what the numbers were all about, quite a few to choose from, but found the final easily enough. Surprisingly breezy up here for such a mild day.

Views were a little disappointing today and very exposed to the harsh southerly. Was keen to complete this one as their was an earthquake coin I was after. TFTC

01-Aug-11
Although we weren't sure exactly what we were looking for, everything fell into place, and we soon had the coordinates. Retrieving and replacing the cache itself proved a little dodgy, with several muggles working nearby. TFTC

7368 A bit breezy up top, nicely hidden waypoints… and a quick find of the final… Remember the infinite views on a previous visit, views not so great today, TFTC.

17-May-11
Had a spare half hour this afternoon before picking the kids up from school, so popped up to Porirua and nipped up here. Lots of sun but a strong breeze was blowing making it just a bit uncomfortable up at the trig. Bit of a haze which didn't make for a tremendous view. A quick find at WP1 and then off to the final which was spotted without to much trouble. Popped back to the car for a TB and Geocoin before rehiding. TFTC

Had to do a cache this morning so decided that I would bring Mrs Yeetrees to this cache, arriving at the published GZ it was blowing a bit of a hurricane as Mrs Yeetrees put it, managed to keep our feet and grab the required information without being blown off the hill, after sorting out the number Mrs Yeetrees was off like the wind to the final GZ while I decided to see if I could hold ground and take a few photos, after that found Mrs Yeetrees and she said she found the cache and it was a breeze, thanks for creating this quick and easy breezy multi, thanks for bringing us here, TFTC TNLNSL (3230)

Probably took me longer to log this cache than it did to actually find. I know this is not the place to vent my frustrations regarding the poor performance of the web site. So enough said! 10-Apr-11
Stopped by for a look today, and had no trouble with finding the required info or the final. When I saw this listing I didn't recognise the trig, but as I drove up I recognised the area as I had found CF's cache here about 18 months ago. Good to see another one up here at this spot. Great views over the harbour.

Found the required numbers after hunting around for a few minutes, and found the cache at GZ almost instantly. A great view from here this evening in the setting sun. Signed log, TFTC!

06-Apr-11
The figures needed to calculate the final seem to have disappeared? (at least on my browser!) - sorry are they available at the trig, I had an idea that there was a calculation on the page but maybe I am mistaken.
(Also as mentioned by one of the finders 175.... is rather a long trip!)
Will be a while before I get to this one but will do it with interest as I used to live in Tirowhanga Road Paremata and walk across farmland (which was permitted by the farmer) to Waitangirua before any of this area was developed. Yes I have greying hair......

Saw this one published and was going to give it a skip, but the Fairy half told me to go for it before the guests arrived. So jumped into the car with Lyka and made our way to the cache. Very interesting Waypoint 1 and was very surprised to find an empty log book (checked both sides just incase) and more so that Hangstrap had not got the FTF as his house is just around the corner. Awesome views and a great cache. Thanks for the FTF

#1994. 3TF @ 18:40. With daylight savings just finished, we arrived with still a faint light at dusk. So, got a glimpse of the good views from up here. Thankfully we don't have to go to E 175° 52.3xx for the final Wink, otherwise it would have been completely dark by then. TNLNSL. TFTC.
