Coordinates changed from:S 40 52.727 E 175 4.669Coordinates changed to:S 40 52.720 E 175 4.675Distance from original: 50.6 feet or 15.4 meters.Although the hiding location was pretty obvious I have changed co-ords slightly.Left a fresh container and logsheet inside in a pill bottle.
Coords were saying 29m away at GZ, but used geosense to find it. GZ was well guarded by an eight legged monster, but luckily Mr PJN didn't see it until he had grabbed the cache. (And yay, I didn't try! ) TFTC
What a great set of woods to walk through, thanks for bringing us here.Coords were about 30 feet off for us.
It's December, and to help me achieve one of my Geocaching goals I need to log 300+ caches this month, which means an average of ten a day. I started off well, but had a glitch in the middle which has left me behind my target. Today I was aiming for 30 finds (I got 28) by walking up here. I had ascended the Te Au Track from Huia Street, and been to the left as far as I could go. Then I went to the right, and now I am coming down. I am pleased this descension is not as steep as the other track as everything is a bit slippery now after light rain for the last hour or so. Slow and steady got me there on the trail and with finding the geocaches. This one was a little odd. Found the cache container exactly as described, but there was no log paper inside. Added a scrap that I had.---Thanks to tmann421 for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge

Found earlier in the week when the track was (reasonably) dry. Great to get up here - geocaching takes you to some local treasures that you didn't even know about (in my case anyway).
Straightforward find due to good hint, all good with cache.

Mānawatia a Matariki! Decided to check out Hemi Matenga reserve for the first time on a beautiful sunny Friday.
I walked up to the lookout first, then did this loop on the way back. Well hidden cache, nice and dry. TFTC

Another cracking day in this very unseasonal June, so off we headed (with Mumma muggle in tow) for a walk around the Kohekohe loop. We were checking out the descriptions and location of each cache from the previous one before racing each other to find from memory.
We stopped a little early on this one, and were searching a few places before realising we were not quite on target. Junior raced ahead to nail the find which was rather exposed. Log is falling apart a tad but still usable. We covered well on departure.
Thanks!

29 April 2023 12:40 TFTC tmann421 for placing this cache, number 12597 for me. Exactly where expected and in great condition.
My second stop for the day was the Kohekohe Walk. I have already found the other 27 or so caches further up the hill, found over two previous trips, but I never managed to get around this loop.
Found with help of the hint. Was muggled while signing (the only other person I saw on the loop) but she didn't look long enough to notice what I was doing.

What a lovely track- would be peaceful too if it wasn’t for a chainsaw project down the hill a bit. Hopefully they’ll finish soon! Thanks heaps for the placement
A beautiful day for a walk in Hemi Matenga. Quick find as per hint, all good, tftc!
A perfect spot to stop for a while after catching up to a family with four young, shriekiing girls that were like shards of glass in my brain. So much for the calm and relaxing environment of the bush Thanks for another simple find, but the logsheet needs replacing and I forgot to grab my spares before heading out earlier. Hopefully the next cacher can replace it.
Decided to spent some time around Otaki and Waikanae picking up some caches. Finished the drive by ones and now time to stretch the legs on this loop walk. A good climb up and great views at the top. Managed 22 in total. Will need to return for the ones along the far ridge top.
Enjoyed the level of hides. Often took a few minutes but the hint was always specific enough to give me hope and continue looking.
This one was a a quick find. Thanks tmann for the challenge and the smileys.

Muss 8 found this one quickly. Unfortunately the log is sopping wet. We wrote on it but it ripped as we did so. We didn't have any fresh paper with us this time sorry!
This was too quick to find - it was right out in the open! I reburied it propetly after signing. Tftc!
We really enjoyed this little walk, the sun shining through the canopy made everything by sparkle. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many shades of green. Cache number 3 of 6 for us today.
Out and about with MightyMicra. The cache was no longer hidden and the inner container lids were loose, log very wet. Replaced log and hid container. TFTC.
Found by accident and then signed up and found again along with others on track. Fun holiday times!
Cool find. Hidden it better than we found it. Paper is damp but still works. Enjoying the Forrest today.
Nice hint object and cache soon in hand. Log soaking wet but as it is waterproof a quick dry-off and all good to add our name.
Paddle chick did the honours of retrieving this cache.Thank you for placing this cache
On my annual pilgrimage to Te Horo today with a couple of hours in hand to find a few caches. The GPS wanted me to search some smaller trees first then I realised that I'd walked straight past the big tree.

One of seven caches found in the Waikanae area this afternoon. Reasonably quick find. Enjoyed the very pleasant loop walk. #1929. TFTC.
The sun is starting to go down and we are getting some gorgeous light in amongst the trees here. TFTC.
My son and I had a great walk around the Hemi Matenga Reserve back in February, having started at the other end and working our way down to this end, but just before we managed to get to the last few caches the heavens had opened up and we had fled for the car. So I've been meaning to come back to clear up the last remaining few since then, and today turned out to be the day.
Having parked up on Tui Cres and walked towards this cache, we had already had a bit of bush-bashing to get to the path via a more direct route, so were quite content to simply follow the path and let the Hint guide our way. GZ was easy to find, as was the cache container as it was half sticking out of where it was supposed to be hidden.
But luckily the container was still the right way up (IE upside down) so the contents were all perfectly dry. I took the TB that was inside, and quickly signed the log on behalf of my son and I whilst he kept a look out for sudden Muggles. Then everything was replaced back as it should be and covered up properly with the casual hiding materials, before we set off to find the next one.
Thanks for giving us the excuse to come and explore this interesting reserve again.

beautiful Easter monday walk with the family, gorgeous bush walk, nice easy find, swapped a travel bug for a lady bug
This was such a nice walk that I returned with Tania to find a few more caches... we will definitely return again to enjoy the longer tracks when we have more time
Thanks to CO for hiding and maintaining all these trails

I took my youngest son up to Wellington in the camper van. I dropped him off at his friend's house where he will stay. Meanwhile I get to geocache and be on standby.
After staying at Greytown and spending another day in the Wairarapa, it was time to head to The Hutt area.
Son number two got dropped off at the airport. Hubby got picked up.
I needed to get the Camper's clutch checked out at Miro Auto Repairs. Once we got the all clear it was time to continue our adventure. We are staying in Paraparaumu tonight.

Thanks. tmann421 for putting in the effort to hide this geocache. This was find for me.
GPS was still saying 30 metres but thought I'd check a suitable looking hiding place on the way past - - and there was the cache. GPS caught up as I was signing the log. TFTC .
Another nice and easy find. Lovely to listen to the Tuis while walking the track. TFTC
Raining quite a bit so had to move quick in the bush, another easy find - nothing like walking in the rain
Fevalas and I spend 5 weeks at this beautiful country. We visit the North and the South Island.
Yesterday the weather was horrible, it was raining cats and Dogs. Today the weather is fine and we are going for a walk on our trip to the National Park Village.
Nice region, we enjoyed the walk. I liked the round and leave a favo Point at #1. The logbook was a little bit wet and shreddered, maybe you take a look.
Thanks for the cache and best regards from Germany!

Third find on a pleasant walk with my 4 year old son through the kohekohe loop. Nice easy find. I tried to cover it a bit more when we left. TFTC
12/02/17 - Number two in the small loop and this was a quick find by spotting what didn't belong. tftc
The GPS was experiencing some huge lag here but I found a candidate hide before it got its act together. It still hadn't settled by the time I'd signed the log and was ready to move on. TFTC.
GPS had me at a clump of 3 trees, checked the clue and soon had cache in hand.

Found on tramping club Sunday trip with 9 others to help us. We made it a "round trip" starting at the Huia Street entrance, walking through the leafy streets to Tui Street, through the Kohekohe Walk, over the Te Au Route, continuing north as far as the "Homer Tree" before returning and dropping down to the cars. An easy walk on a good track, the weather was perfect and the views were stupendous. TFTC
#2242. The sun had just set on Kapiti Island before I reached this cache and the light was now very subdued under the forest. Needed a torch to assist with finding the cache. Luckily the cache was hidden close to the path so it was quick find here. Signed the dry log and replaced the cache as found. A lovely walk through some tall lowland forest. Will have to come back another day when the sun is high in the sky so I can enjoy the forest and the birdlife. Thanks for the cache.
Grabbed hold of little tree trunk to pull myself up the hill in search of GC. The tree didn't pull me up, I pulled the tree up! OOOPS! Found the GC eventually tho
Number 2 of 5. My mum was excited as this was her first find. Covered it back up nicely.
A nice quick find, I really enjoyed the short walk around the Kohekohe track today.

The bush looked really beautiful today with the sun shining through and capturing the rain drops as they fell from the trees. It is a lovely and very accessible area of bush. TFTC
