I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.
will check this summer when in the area. hope its all still in place as sand moves things very fast in places like this.
Even tho this cache doesn't get found often and hasn't for the past year I figured it was worth the effort to come over to find it. Sadly the CO does not appear to be caching any more and this is being left to others to maintain. I had thought to bring out a container with a fresh log today but then left them at my camp. Such a shame because I would have left them here today tied securely to GZ for the next person to come out and find.
I'm assuming I found the correct tree but no cache was found. Locations like this need a good sized container which can be more easily found should they be dislodged from their hidey holes and end up in the undergrowth. It's not as though a muggle is going to come here and find it by mistake so it can afford to be more obvious.

Nicely placed find to seek and get when the others were sand boarding. Special thanks up DaffyNZ for replacing this cache when the owner is inactive. TFTC DaffyNZ. Found 28/3/18 10:49 am. Cache 1489 for us.

(2672) Paddled across and had a good look around GZ. No luck and the owner has not logged in for 2 years. I have place another cache at GZ just above GL to ensure it does not get washed away. Happy hunting
Took my nephew over for some sand boarding and was hoping to nab this cache while we were over this side but was not meant to be. Couldn't find a cache here so returned up the hill to throw myself down the hill a few more times. Will have to come back. Thanks anyway!
Found this today. Staying at Rangi Point for a motorhome rally. Went down beach at low tide, then climbed. Oh to be fitter.
it is very safe clean and DRY

With the Geo Tour North - caught the boat over and, work first, find the cache. No problems! Then play - sand boarding to exhaustion, what fun in these golden sand dunes! Thanks for inviting us over here Hokiangler, and thanks to BB for checking on it for us. Another favorite added
[green] Out on day 1 of the three day GeoTour North with ToursDirect, the prelude to the MEGA in Auckland. Fantastic tour, recommend it to anyone (too late!). I surprised only 4 people chose to come along. Log signed as GeoTour North, which includes me, Edvern, PageNZ, KittyKatch and GrimRaider.
Spent an hour out here having a blast. Walking on the dunes, sand toboggans, and a little light caching. Some one had to do it, so I picked me - how far into the water can we toboggan? Right in, as it turns out! Check out the photo! (oh, and you get a favourite from me too)

Found on the Mega GeoNorthTour. We took a boat over and spent the morning sliding down the sand dunes, exploring and sitting in the sun. A beautiful day with lots of sunshine. It was great to take a break and just grab one cache before heading off to cycle at Kaikohe. TFTC - lovely spot for it
Amazing! We had such a happy visit over to the sand dunes. Quick trip over to find the cache and then some runs down the dune on the sand board. Unfortunately my brakes weren't working and I ended up in the sea. All fun!!!
Fast boat over to dunes and checked on this cache for Hokiangler. All good and waiting for a few visits this summer . Sand boarding is FUN
One year on after the previous non-find and a bit more organised this time. Sandboarding was brilliant with the tide in, was possible to skim across the water for a few meters after flying down the dune. Sand was extremely hot on the feet though. Cache found after a bit of a rummage in the undergrowth - all good. Sculptered a whale in the sand with GreenBLat jnrs and headed off on the fast boat to town. T4TC
Got challenged to paddle over by local catcher Butchie bum instead of hitching a ride in the boat. BB came along for the ride and to offer support!!! I had red junior in front of me in my kayak while BB trolled for fish. Red junior thought it was great paddling over ( who paddled?) and the tides and weather was good. Got to the other side and boy the dunes are bigger up close! Up over the sand dunes to GZ we went and then it became a game of hot potato! The sand was very hot and we had no shoes! Spent some time at GZ searching and cooling our feet in the cooler sand before making the discovery. Then it was a mad dash back to the kayaks, running between each clump of dune grass! Definitely take shoes if you're doing this in summer. Cooled off before paddleing back to Opononi. A big thankyou to BB who supplied the kayaks and local knowledge for my caching trip. Fav point from us. TFTC
Great time sand-boarding but forgot to chech the GPS for caches until I was back in Opononi. Damn!!! Great place for a cache anyway

Had planned to make this a milestone cache and was not dissapointed. A rough ride on the boat out and while the kids surfed the dunes I went for a wander to make a nice quick find. I hope more people come out for this cache, it is worth while. I know my mate budokan mentioned it so I hope he gets to find it one day.
Picked up the coin to move it on.
SL TFTC Fav point too.

Beauti day here in paradise. Spotted new cache so it really was a must do as right under my nose. Paddled out across to the dunes with the morning sun. Not a ripple on the water. Went up the dunes and found THE ELEPHANT which really is worth the walk, before making my way to GZ. Nice little hide thanks. Signed log and yep FTF and left TB. Really enjoyed
