After managing to get a new water storage tank in the area, I took a lunch break walk through here. Parked at the Buller river head park and headed in but missed the link on the other side of the gravel pit as there was a tractor parked there. So, instead ended up with a detour through the back of the closed campground. Easy find once there. Pristine container and log despite the very few visits this one gets. Could have also been Husqvarna or Poulan or Echo though.

Great family walk today and 100% find rate on our caches! That is rare in NZ, so we combined a beautiful walk with a nice geocaching experience, thanks!

After no success at The Source, decided to walk along the Angler's Walkway to hopefully grab a couple of smiling faces. Sure enough fpund easily.
This is such a lovely path following the Buller River. A great one for children.
Contrary to B&W biking is not allowed on this track.

After doing Whisky falls walk earlier today I was sitting back at camp and decided to try for the mossy moraine cache.
I walked from the campground and made a find on the moraine walk then to mossy moraine. I decided then to head to this cache. I got within 20 metres of it and read a bit more. I then saw it hadn't been found since 2020. This could be tricky. But it was super easy once close to gz. This is when the hint made sense. Everything was all good with the cache.
Thanks for placing this cache

Having 3 nights away alone up here at the Lake - looking forward to plenty of walks on all the fantastic paths around here.
Today I went to Lake Rotoroa for a look and walk the tracks and a few caches along the way.
I came back to the holiday home around 3 for a snack and relax and then headed back out before it got dark to grab another 4 caches.
Good hint here LOL - TFTC B&W

Love the hint on this one. Quick find, cache in good shape. It’s had quite a few visitors too. For me it was walking today, I will bring the bike back another time. TFTC Bum.

Today was St Arnaud.
I had done some caching in St Arnaud before, but it was a little bit on the way somewhere else, or a handful at the end of the day. Today I decided to make it the focus.
A nice day, and successful. Had a good look around town, the lake and some good walking tracks. Only a couple eluded me today, a haul of 27 including an oldie and a virtual before I decided that was enough. Thanks all COs, an enjoyable day.

Quick find thank you

An orienteering event on here today. Unfortunately an injury has prevented me from taking part, but it was a really pleasant stroll around here to find a couple of caches. Orienteers were dashing about! This is a delightful walk. No problems here and I get the hint. Thanks b&w.

An interesting twist of events had me driving a van, fully set up for sleeping and camping, so I immediately applied for leave on Friday and looked for a suitable destination. St. Arnaud has been on the cards again for some time, so it was a no brainer to head in this direction! After finally locating Sauce, there was not that much time left of the day, so I opted for a nice quick walk - especially as I did not want to get caught out by the storm, quickly approaching by the sound of thunder. Quick walk and quick find, TFTC!!

Found with NZDi. This weekend is Marlborough Anniversary weekend and after a couple of hectic months stuck around the house, we decided to treat ourselves to an extra long weekend at St Arnaud, so with a successful draw in the RNZAF holiday home ballot we headed to the Nelson Lakes for four nights in another part of the country we call paradise.

Today is also a Dot Day, so getting a cache out of town is always good for that mission and by the end of the day I wont need to worry about the 28th of October until we are going for 15-Days.

Thursday we cycle-cached some of the Teetotal Flat mountain bike park on our MTBs. Friday we 'Looped the Lake' going clockwise and taking 11 hours to complete (including going up to the Travis Swing Bridge).

Today's aim was to clear up as many of the 18 caches we had remaining in and around St Arnaud. We managed to get 14, leaving us four to get over the next two days. This morning after a late start we decided to clear out the Teetotal MTB Park. Having cleared that we then decided to work our way from the furthest cache out back towards our accommodation.

This was our next target after 'Om' and involved a pleasant walk alongside the Buller River. It was a QEF at GZ and we decided to approach Mossy moraine from near here.

After the terrain of some of our last caches this was a nice gentle stroll. The river seemed to be up a bit, probably due to the recent rain when the lake reached 'high tide'. Reached GZ and found cache with no problems. tftc

Thanks for the cache I enjoyed the walk along the river beautiful bush

Back on the road Sunday after a sleepover with Zara to explore more of St Arnaud.
Another great walk. Another hunt around. Cheer

13-Mar-16
Hosting duties for my Mum and her husband today so a trip up the valley to St Arnaud would appear to be the order of the day and (maybe) a chance to snag a couple of caches whilst there, including my missing Little Lake codes. No nightowl19 today so just the 3 of us and after a picturesque drive up SH63 and looking longingly at Patriach where another was caching we soon arrived at the village.
A couple of degrees cooler here than Blenheim but still a very nice Autumnal temperature to be out and about in.
Second of the day and another lovely riverside walk with wonderful views and sounds of birdlife and running water, a sure winner on the F P stakes. Q E F at G Z and appreciated the hint, nice one.

16-Dec-15
Today was all about finding caches that for various reasons I hadn't managed to get to on other trips down in this stunning part of the country. Parked up just beyond the turning point and went for the wander along side the start of the Buller River - that's pretty special in itself. Lovely walk even though I'm not an Angler. TFTC #7710

Love the walk. River seems very high and strong. No trout were spotted. Sunny finally and co ords very good. We cottoned on to the hint so made an easy find. A fav for us. Pino TFTC

[green] After spending a couple of days in St Arnaud caching with a couple of friends a few weeks back, I am now back to finish the place off. There are some wonderful walks around St Arnaud, long or short. I spent a lot of time on this caching trip walking, which makes a nice change from all the drive by / cycle by caches I normally get to do.
I was wondering how to tackle Mossy Morraine, and ended up ignoring it as I walked down to this cache. By the time I found this I had seen what looked like two large open spaces on the map on my GPS and thought these might make for an easy route to Mossy Morraine. Which meant starting with this cache was a good idea. It is a pretty walk along the river. Photo.

Mallorcatommy, con/limon and I were on our journey through the southern island of New Zealand. With the help of geocaches we came to so many beautiful places, saw breath-taking landscapes and had, all in all a very wonderful journey! Thank you to all owners for placing all those nice geocaches!

02-Feb-15
Every day we are traveling around is same but also different. Today we had again the pleasure to visit some very beautiful spots and were also able to find nearly placed geocaches. I thank every single owner for placing it and giving us with doing this an other good reason to come here.

Coming to the end of our week in St Arnaud. Day 7 and a bit of a push on to deal with some of the in and around St Arnaud caches that we hadn't got to.
The day much cooler and cloud cover for much of the event. Made outdoor conditions not unpleasant and not too hot for hiking about. Tackling the series of caches on foot.
Very scenic walk riverside, a beautiful area. Found as #9 for the day so far.
Cace find was straightforward. Cache in order, log signed. Safely re-hidden, just as found.

I've been meaning to wander down and get this one for ages. Tonight after an afternoon of study I decided it'd make for a nice study break. I was intrigued by the tree it was under, you don't see many of them around this part of the park, well not that I've noticed anyway. Probably helped by a concerted effort to remove them, as in the case of this one. TFTC

16-Mar-13
nice walk beside the river, caught a trout for tea. tftc

05-Mar-13
Loved this one, it gets a favourite point. I have been meaning to get to this one on successive visits for a couple of years but never seemed to have the time. This time lucky, a delightful walk in from the Buller source bridge early in the morning and an easy find at GZ. Great hint! Signed log, TFTC

Took the cross country route from Mossy Morraine. GPS proved its worth, took me directly to the spot. Found instantly, thanks

07-Sep-12
We had been wanting to do this for a while but had not been sure about the access from the main road. So today we accessed it from the Mt Robert bridge and had no problems. Really enjoyed the walk by the river which was very high today, As with all the other tracks today, the ground was very wet although the sun was out by now. Loved the hint as well - easier to follow when read rather than heard. A favourite. Thanks.

Saw a beautiful black swan sitting in the middle of the river,A awesome walk along the Buller,Is amazing the difference in size between the start of the Buller and where it meets the sea.Didnt take long to find it TFTC

This was a great walk along the river. Saw a black swan swimming in the river on the way to get this cache. Was a bit of a laugh at GZ. Thanks for showing us this riverside walk =)

17-Aug-12
Took Ms M with me on this enjoyable walk. At the entrance behind the gravel there is a "no cycling" sign. We recalled the time Ms M rafted this section of the Buller. From the lake to Owen River during the Southern Traverse. A lifetime away now.

Back at the lake today with time to fill in so a walk and a few caches were in order. I have never ventured along this track before so finally got views of the Buller River previously denied me. It was a pleasant walk to GZ with a side detour to "Mossy Moraine". Thank you for placing this cache along here to encourage me and others who might not otherwise walk this track.

14-Aug-12
A beautiful day with the lake clear as glass so out for a wander with Holymu. There were caches beckoning to be found. But for the locals this seems a summer find. With the Buller quietly rumbling beside us and the most amazing bird life all around a most enjoyable walk. TFTC

G's April GeoSafari (with team smsRenwick) underway. A four day Safari targeting Lake Roroiti and surrounding areas. A beautiful day - with fresh snow on the distant mountains. No wonder it was so cool this morning!! Good clue - wonder when it was used - hard to tell with the lichen growing so prolifically in the forest.

One of five caches found during a long morning walk around some of the many pathways at Lake Rotoiti. Lovely sunny winter morning after frosty start. A dusting of snow overnight made the stunning views so much nicer. A great clue made this cache easy to find. The cache container was in good condition and contents dry.

The river was humming, why didn`t we have all that water when we rafted down in 1999, mind you there was a fair bit of water on the track today also, cheers for another good cache.

Had a nice wee walk in and out at dusk for this cache. Had some real trouble with my GPS until I had given it a good reset. Cheers Gav [7658]

Took Mrs Biggles for a walk this morning. Managed to access the track from the nearby camp ground which had signs for it. Lovely cool crisp morning for the walk. Haven't been down this track before. TFTC, Biggles.

Managed to find it without needing the torch, but walked out by moonlight. What an interesting track - it goes through many character changes in such a small area. It was while doing this one I also discovered I shouldn't have come back out of the Moraine orienteering bash either. Oh well. Thank you for these caches, a very enjoyable set. TFTC #CS#
