. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Today steffixx and me spent another wonderful day here in NZ while driving through and exploring the Golden Bay Area. We stopped nearby and hat a look at these old equipments from long time ago... And after that we found the cache. The logbook was full and wet, but we were able to write our names into it. Yippie - another found in New Zealand!! A big thank you to BigglesNZ for leading us here and showing this beautiful place and of course also for maintaining this cache here on site!Best wishes from the North Sea, Germany, from Cuxine . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ________________oooooooo____________oooooooooooooo_________oooooooooooooooooo________oooooooooooooooooooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo____oooooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo___ooo__ooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo__oooo____oo________oooooooooooooooooooooooo_________oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo_oooo_______oooooooooooooooooo________ooooo___ooooooooooooooooooooooo_________oo_ooo____oooooooooooooooooooooooooo_____oooooooo__ooo_oooooo__________oo___oooo_______ooo__ooo_ooo______oooo__ooo_______oooo___ooo__ooo___ooooo___ooo_____ooo___ooo____oo____ooo____oooooo__ooo____ooooooo____________ooo_____ooooo____ooo
Quick grab. Really interesting place - great historical equipment. Certainly worth a look.
Have passed here a few times this week & finally time to stop - great for a park n grab but must come back for the museum - TFTC
We had had a fabulous time exploring the Aorere Goldfields nearby, and as it was getting a bit dark when we arrived here we thought we would have a quick park and grab. That is not what happened as the cache was not as per the hint, gk took the prickly side to search and I went the easy side. He spotted something about two meters away - well out of reach.
I passed him a plastic safety barrier arm that was closing off the driveway and he carefully dragged the cache back into reach. The log was wet so he dried the cache while I signed the log, then he returned it as per the hint. It should be a nice quick park and grab for the next finders.
We didn't know this place existed so hopefully we can come back one day when it is open as it looks most interesting.
Thanks for showing us this place and thanks for the smiley

Found with Tregearp after abandoning our planned walk up to the gold fields because of torrential rain. GZ is a bit of a mare with prickles at the moment, but retrieved in the end. Completed formalities and replaced as found. Thanks BigglesNZ for the cache.
Found with SJT_NZ on our way up to park and walk into the gold fields. Sadly the weather turned out tp be too wet. We drove in the access road a fair way, but it was hosing down and we were worried that at the only place we could park, that we might not get out later on. Another time. Managed to grab this one though. All in good order, and thanks for the cache.
Very quiet. The container was quite far in and it took some stretching to reach. TFTC!!
Mum scrambled under the nicely trimmed hedge for this one.
Odd, but very clean toilets out back of the museum. Memorable.

With a few days off work coinciding with a small window of fine weather we decided to take the caravan away for a few days to see if we needed to do anything before the Christmas break. Headed over the hill to Collingwood and found a nice, but windy, place to stay. Once we were set up we headed out for a drive and decided to take the journey up to the start of the Heaphy Track.
This was the first find of the trip and a nice easy one. We had to wait for the traffic to clear, but once it was gone, the cache was a nice quick find. tftc

Thank goodness there was no traffic for a bit .. head down bum up to retrieve this one. Tftc
Nearly got dragged looking with judithrichards. Have placed it a little easier
A nice quick find though it was quiet a stretch to reach the hide. I replaced a little easier to access, Thanks.
Found as we explored more of Golden Bay. A great day for it, fairly quiet on the roads and on the walks.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

.Finally got this one captured after a short hunt. Replaced log with a Temp RITR log to help this one along. Cheers
Its Saturday and we are off exploring around Collingwood and up towards the Heaphy.
Its a long weekend to Takaka, with Collingwood and Farewell Spit in the mix, with Zara Toby and Bullertroutss Bro. So lets go exploring. Visited lots of awesome places. But never enough time. I will be back.

DNF for us, and though it was dark, it should have been easy.
Will watch with interest.

A cursory look in the dark by torchlight yielded nothing as per the hint. Would probably look completely different in the light. Another time maybe . . . . .
I wondered what this building used to be used for as I pulled up - now I know. For it's size they must have churned out some volume. It seems there's a bit of a renaissance for slightly artisan NZ made cheeses, but I can't see there being a future cache here informing people that the cheese factory used to be a settlers and heritage museum.
Quicker to find than to type, but a nice hide all the same.

Quick find while out on a Bike ride from Puponga time to turn around and head back . TFTC
I have set myself a challenge for this year to have at least the same number of caches on each day of my calender as the number of years I have been caching.
Today the target is four but I just might go over that number.
Cheers for the cache.

I will never forget this museum - not from today but from a visit with a friend and out boys many years ago. As we were looking round a goat kept butting into us till it had us bailed up. I can't remember how we finally got away but it was absolutely hilarious at the time. Thanks to feet first for the replacement. TFTC # 10,667
At steam up day and saw good old machinery.
Easy find unfortunately container cracked and log wet

Great old machinery museum, nice easy find, but container cracked no spare availble, and log saturated needs a little bit of maintenance.
Thanks for the cache Biggles.
Thanks for the cache Biggles.
Had to pass this place until the last visitors left then we made a quick find. TFTC.
Back today for another look and an instant find. It seems there has been considerable pruning done since we were last here which made it so much easier. Unfortunately it has also left the hiding place exposed to the elements and the log is sodden, too wet to be signed and the container is also cracked. We have replaced the log and snaplock but unfortunately didn't have a container to replace the broken one.
Thank you BigglesNZ.
Thank you BigglesNZ.
Since our DNF it seems some of the protection has been removed and we made an easy find. The container has multiple cracks and the bag was torn and log sodden. Replaced bag and log but it needs a replacement container as well. Something we didn't have with us. Thank you BigglesNZ
rusty gold inside the museum, what a pitty to see it all rotting, since 2006 nobody had done anything...
Oops, noticed the inconsistency in the listing as pointed out by Troodles. I updated the hint but not the description when the cache got replaced. All good now.
#10281. It's a shame we didn't have time to go in for a look. The museum appeared to be open, but it didn't seem to have any visitors at the time we were then. Funnily enough, we were listening to the radio the following day and a message from a listener said her son was inspired to become a scientist (or was it an engineer?) after a visit to the Rockville Machine and Settlers Museum. TFTC.
Great to have a drive by after our mornings walk to the Aorere Caves and the Druggan dam. Think there is a word missing in the cache description - shouldn't there be a "not" in front of the phrase "hidden on / in / under / around one of the historic pieces of equipment"?
A quick find, regardless. Would have liked to have had a look around, but was a little footsore from our walkies, plus we needed ot take advantage of the fine weather to find some more caches . TFTC.

A quick easy find, although the cache description and hint seem contradictory. TFTC
Holidaying with tmann421 in the North of the South Island. Many thanks to all the Co's for making this such a memorable trip.
Nice find here.

Closed and all the stuff outside looks like it has been left to rot - a shame people have lost interest in the past.

Quick find on our way home after carrying out some maintenance on historical Bainham. TFTC
Yeah. I'm sure a look inside would have been very interesting. - - - Maybe another day. Cache was soon found. Thanks.
Found on a day's exploration around the region, letting the geocaches lead me to all the interesting places. A quick find in a much easier spot than I expected from the description. Signed log, TFTC
Found while on an afternoon drive through to Farewell Spit. Interesting place. TFTC
Remember coming here pre-geocaching for an event at the local museum here. Cache was lying in the open so re-hid behind wall, near corner. TFTC, #6076
Thought I'd pick this one up while in the area as last time we flagged it due to a group of nosy muggles hanging about talking .. Had I known where GZ was at the time I would have parked on road instead of in the carpark and avoided their attention ..
TFTC!
ps: caretaker lives in the house out back so only has to wander over to un/lock the building, hence long visiting hours

Quite surprised to see the museum still open when we found this cache at 4.30pm. Unfortunately we didn't have time for a looksee.
Found while on our way to Bainham this afternoon. Any easy find despite steam up day being in full swing. TFTC
Brownie visited as well

Used to own a 1954 David Brown tractor which was quite handy to top paddocks with but a dangerous beast so ended up selling it last year. With too many females in the family I was out voted when considering a visit to the museum
Many thanks

A cache I couldn't find at first and then I found it straight in front of me. TFTC
Logging this smelling of onion weed and bleeding from thorn injuries at least I won't forget this spot.
Thank you for placing this cache.

Managed to finally make it over to the Bay for a maintenance and caching trip today. Some of the artifacts have certainly been moved about since my last visit. Hope the new replacement cache survives in its new spot.
