Found number 1 and a few others but no luck with this one unfortunately, despite having a socially distanced friend looking as well

Interesting spot, lots of history here and very muddy. Thank you!

Found a tree with old beer cans, shoes and gloves nailed to it!

Luckily it wasn’t too long a trek through the mud as the others had found this one and I was in my own!?!

Teamed up with steeba to tackle some caches along the Woronora River. Bring a water craft he says, we'll do some paddling down the river on the change of tide. What we did consider was the summer north-easterly breeze that had picked up by the time we started our trek.

The caches were soon adding up with us having good success picking off the finds. Could reach this from my seat. Got some info for the bonus cache.
Thanks

Found with sesblocker.
If it wasn't for these types of cache locations, we wouldn't have a reason to have some fun on the water. The water was quite still here, so we used the opportunity to invert our kayaks and expel some water.
Oh, it gets a favourite from us!

A plan was hatched to do a bunch of The Wonnie caches with The Bebes, PelDroedGwin, EverestHigh and Boogie Rogue. I had found all the others apart from this On yer' boat series, so jumped at the chance to get out on the water again. Collecting our shaded tinny from Como jetty, we headed off with Captain EH at the helm, and had a very successful afternoon, collecting all the ones we needed between us and no DNFs. A perfect day with great company. We even enjoyed a Brew "smorgasbord" lunch on the way back! Smile

This was the third find for me. So many oyster farm relics on the way to GZ. I had the job of grabbing, signing and replacing. No need for long arms or legs to get to this one. Will give it a FP too. There was a small crab acting as cache guardian on a branch nearby. TFTC

A scorcher of a day meant there was no better place to be than on the water and with a good number of caches to find it was set to be a good day !

We (myself, PelDroedGwin, Brewmaker, EverestHigh and BoogieRougue) picked up a boat from Como and hit the wet stuff.

Team work reaped rewards.

Overshot this one on approach but whilst reversing it was spotted !

OCW the Bebes, Bougie Rogue, Brewmaker, and Everest High. We hired a tinny to spend a a few hours knocking over these water caches. Got to the lone tree location and after a quick search the Bebes shouted those favourite caching words “found it”. Tftc

TFTC,
I was out with troador and Nana nel to finish many of the kayak caches on the Wonnie that I have been overlooking for a long time now. Our goal was to get 7 caches, we ended up with 5.
Our fifth find for the day.
We tried to get to this location a few years ago when doing another cache in the area but the tide was against us then and we found ourselves in knee deep mud.
This time we still had enough water under the kayak to get to the cache and make a find. Gathered the required information and added it to a personal note for the Bonus cache.
After completing the paddle back to the Boat Ramp that we started from, our current physical limits for this activity had been reached. We accept that more time on the water is required to get us to where we need to be to complete a couple of the caches that are on our radar.
Visited a group of trackables.

We (Wazza9 & I) spent the day paddling with Tronador on a beautiful day, not sure the body is going to thank me. On our way back to the boat ramp, been here before without even looking for the cache. The last find of the day, must say it was nice amongst the mangroves. Located the container then to get it, signed log and replaced. Thanks to The Hancock Clan.

A big day of kayak adventures with Elevation. We kayaked over from Oatley to the series at Oyster Bay but got beaten to half of them by a low tide. Lunch at Como and some respite from the sun (high 30s today), then headed west to the Woronora and enjoyed more paddling which was assisted with the rising tide later in the day.

This was the third of this series for us and with the tide rising by the minute the paddling was getting easier and so were the finds. We picked this from 80m away and cruised in to park within inches of the cache. Sadly the cache was inexplicably full of water. We tipped it out and spent a few minutes drying everything - finally today's extreme heat served a useful purpose. It's by no means 'dry' but definitely 'dryer' Wink

I enjoyed a rest in the shade too, while we crunched the numbers. We struggled to read some of the numbers in this cache but we came up with some pretty reasonable coords and backed ourselves. Turned out we were right. Lovely paddle up the river today - I am really enjoying this series! TNLN TFTC

I thought I would try something different today, so I stopped by at the Como Marina to hire a dinghy and cruise around the river for a few hours (and pick up a few caches of course).  This was the second find of the day. I made this one quite tricky for myself as I was distracted by historical remnants, general trash and by climbing trees in pursuit of this cache. I was about to give up when I decided to bring some rationality to the hunt and made a discovery in a more logical place. This one was quite hard to reach from the dinghy. TFTC

A road trip from the ACT up to Sydney's high D and high T caches around the Georges River region. AngelG27, TikvaNZ, ZQX and I all had caching goals to complete. We explored the rivers by boat, then the bush by foot. I collected 19 caches with 16 different DT combinations. A fantastic, fun day out.

#6 for the day. I could sense the excitement mounting. AngelGNZ was minutes from getting her DT grid completed and ZQX and I from completing our second loop. This container took a bit of effort to manipulate the boat and to retrieve, but no wet feet. Signed, data collected and the Bonus coords calculated. We were now off to collect the main prize. This one seemed a little harder to access than the previous two. But FIJ was up to the challenge. The tinny was holding up well. I copped a bit of spray, and the adventure of it all just hit me. What fun!

02-Jan-17
QX, TikvaNZ, Fox in Jox and I headed to Sydney for a Sutherland plunder of high terrain and difficultly caches to help us with our various caching challenges. A highly successful and tiring day with my DT grid now filled!! 15 different DT combinations, many with T5 or D5, lots of laughs and great company!

This was the series we were really after as the finale was the missing DT I wanted for my grid. I noticed the new 3.5/5.0 pop up nearby but this series was still the one we wanted. We hired a boat from the nearby marina which worked perfectly.

Another successful find, with Fox doing the honors yet again. Tricky maneuvering of the runabout needed by TikvaNZ. Numbers collected and off to the final! Thanks Hancock Clan!

The sixth of 18 finds of the day on a high d/t raid to southern Sydney with AngelG27, ZQX and Fox in Jox. We hired a runabout for a fun couple of hours to find this series and a few others. Cache quickly spotted and soon retrieved. TFTC.

Replaced the log, added clues, and made it more waterproof. Couldn't see where the water could get in unless the lid isn't screwed on tightly, so please make sure to replace it firmly. Beautiful on the water this morning - so much so, we may have left something else behind!...

14-Dec-16
Container is damaged and no longer water proof. The clues for the bonus cache are also missing as previous log has turned to pulp.

13-Dec-16
Part 2 of our great yak adventure with KRS and Crash2079 having done the ones are Kurnell first. The tide still looked ok but was running out so launched as suggested and headed for #2 just in case it had depth issues plus this looked to be the shortest route. A few shallow moments on the way over and we had to head for deeper water as KRS and ourselves in the double yak ran aground. Crash got a better run in the lighter craft and got close while we hit some more mud which was knee depth. A tag team with names in the log and numbers retrieved it was off to #1.
We all got to #1 ok and a quick find was made and the process was repeated. At this stage we thought we where doing well and set course for #3. Here we soon realised just how shallow things were getting and how much more mud there was. We not even get the yaks close and we had limited foot wear plus KRS had the dodgy ankle. Crash used his yak as a skid to good effect to keep most of this weigh off his legs to avoid knee deep mud sinkage. Here things started to go bad. While the container was found the contents were pulp and more importantly no numbers for the final. Various discussions followed and I said lets get to deeper water first I thought this bay could trap us and become a giant mud bath. Well the tide had just gone out a little more and we were stuck so I hopped off to push while KRS (who could not) paddled and we slogged it out for about 100m in the knee deep mud that certainly had some crunchy oyster content. At one stage I must have been walking on an old oyster farm rail as i could feel the wood and was only sinking in about 10cm. Any way once floating again it was PAF time containing past finders, consulting the Blue Mountains phone directory and reading past logs. An early PAF answered only to get this series muddled up with the Treasure Island series and in the end it was a TAF who was in NZ that came through. On getting the result I looked up to find we had been in the main current and drifted a little further than I had wanted so we had some back tracking to do. So we headed for the sand bank (checking for no mud first) and plotted the co ords and then the there was a bit of cooling off due to record heat before our second last leg of the day.
Getting a clear and cut free location near GZ was easier said than done bit we docked and between the mud and the oyster shells on the rocks made it bare foot up to to the final. A quick hunt and the hide was found and signed. A great day out made possible by KRS and Crash 2079.
On getting back to the launch spot it was well and truly low tide and there was one last mud challenge to complete before loading up and heading to the near by pub for a thirst quencher. Despite the amount of mud we were carrying the colour of our money was good and they let us in. TFTC

13/12/16. 1:30 PM. Cache #4585.
7th of 8 finds - Kurnell, Como, Illawong.

A kayaking adventure day with bella at waggy and crash2079, out to get the Arkaroo's Kurnell series of 4 and the On Yer Boat set of 4.

Continued here from #1. Having used up the high tide time in Kurnell, we'd already had muddy trouble in falling tides at #2 & #1, but it was about to get a lot worse. We got to #3 okay, well sort of, there were a couple of times we crunched over oysters that were about to be exposed above water. Once again, crash was left to do the wetwork while we were stranded and unable to get any closer. He found the cache okay, but the log inside was a slimy mess of pulp. The clues were unreadable! He added a new page with our names; really hoping it stays waterproof. We started thinking about who to contact and how to get the missing clues but then with the tide falling decided that this wasn't the best place to stick around.

So, we headed for deeper water... eventually. You see, we were quite bogged now and the trip back to deep enough water to paddle in was now more than 100m of bella pushing and me paddling as best I could, and using my legs to push as well. We were completely filthy by the time we got to deep enough water.

We tried a couple of past finders as well as the CO. Eventually some answers came back and we would be able to find #4 after all. We soon found a sandbar to complete the calcs and get our bearings. This was also a great place to get the mud off, plus I forgot to mention it was at least 37°C out, so we relished the cool-off!! But time to continue, and on our way to #4. Another 16 months unloved credit shared here. TFTC.

Had a great kayak adventure with KRS and B@W targeting 4 Arkaroo caches in Botany Bay and the On yer' boat series near Como. It had been a while in the planning to get the tides and weather right and apart from high temps, it was close to perfect. We had aimed to meet at Bonna Point Reserve boat ramp at 7:30 am for an expected 8:15 high tide, but with heavy traffic, we didn't hit the water until after 8:00 am.

We had originally planned to do these series on two separate days, but having completed The Arkaroo series well before noon and great weather, we thought it worthwhile to at least have a go at this series even though it was a 30 min drive and the tide was on its way down.

Navigating through more shallows, it was nearing 1:30pm as we approached #3. This time we could only get to within 30m of GZ. Another quick find, but this container has been damaged and was full of water. Unfortunately, so was the zip log bag containing the log paper. The only thing recognisable was a sticker from a previous finder - there was no way to retrieve the clues from this cache. After emptying the water from the container, I added a fresh piece of paper with our names on it into a new zip lock bag and popped it into the container. It won't last and is missing the clues so will log a needs maintenance note.

Being so close to the final, we weren't giving up without a fight. After making our way out of the mud flat, B@W attempted to contact the CO and previous finders. It didn't take too long to get enough info to solve the location of the final. With temperatures well over 35 deg, we beached on a sand bank and enjoyed a quick dip in the refreshing waters before heading on to our last target.

Number two of four for us. Although these logs arn't in the order that we found the caches we did manage to complete this fun series and enjoy a fun day on the water. We got this one with the high tide , nice and easy but forgot to get the puzzle clues so had to return later in the day to get the required information. That was very different with GZ high and dry making for a muddy trek and a struggle to get the boat back into enough water. All worked out and we had what we need and soon back on track. Great series, Thanks.

Caching with AlphaDeltaIndigo

So after departing "on yer boat 1", we were on route to this mighty cache... We navigated the channel and came alongside to the old wharf.. After calling Liberty I head ashore to have a look around.. Sadly ADI was on duty, so she had to stay with the boat.

After a quick run ashore we slipped all lines again and started a proper search.

I spotted the cache in the distance and tide up alongside to make another mark in the log.

My crew.. ADI was working so well.. Wink I called "beer issue".. We completed the calculations for the final, but before we could head off we got a signal from HQ to detour to "dead end". I had been to this location before.. So it was a quick turn around and now off to "on yer boat 4"

Log is signed as ADI aka Alphadeltaindigo

Finding this cache took a bit longer than the others coz the lone tree didn't look too lonely. But we spotted it.. And now to grab it. Pk and I did a little salsa turn on the boat for the balance and pk made the grab. I signed the log and he held the boat in place!

Been a while since I did the first couple in the series and today managed to get back to find the rest. Put in at Bonnet Bay near the other river cache then paddled downstream to this one. A lovely little spot at the old oyster farms with all the old workings. Thankfully this one I was able to nab from the kayak! Hooray! I remember the first couple in the series seeing me do some mud wading [xx(]. I was able too to get the final clues and then off for the final! TFTC!

Came down here after a DNF on Dead End. Went around the back and tried to get ashore on Low tide. What a mistake. Gave up without looking so wont list it as a DNF this time.

My second kayak trip in just as much weeks. Getting quit a few 5 stars done this way! Loved the scenery at this one and decided to not follow the numeric order.
Started at the Como boatramp with a few drops af rain and an overcast, but very humid and warm. The weater turned dry for the rest of the trip and the sun luckily stayed away. Although I was already 2 hours after high tide, I could easily reach all locations without getting out of the canoe (except for actually getting to the cache height. At arrival back at the car I did a 7.5 km trip.
Luckily I have heaps of favourite points to give so a point for every single one of these and a pathtag for the bonus.

Perfect kayaking weather and some great spots.

Reperio at 0630.

Came down from Newcastle last night for a day of caching today, and decided to get up at first light and visit this series of caches. With two down, it was on to the third, and the going was made a little harder with the tide pushing against me, and the kayak bottoming out in a couple of spots. Still, even at low tide, I was able to get the kayak within a few meters of GZ, and the cache quickly found. With all the clues for the final obtained...it was off to it before heading back to the car.

Big thanks to deemacvee for doing a bit of maintenance on these caches. Should be good for a while, but we'll also check on them in a few weeks anyway Smile

After finding that I was delegated for taxi duty this morning, I had just enough time to chuck my kayak on the roofracks and extra gear in the back. I finally had the time to find wome of the t5 caches on the river.
So I set out from the boat ramp and paddled my way under the bridge.
Found this after the other two and took note of the clue before working out the coordinates for the bonus cache.
Unfortunately sun and salt do not go well with some plastics. The lid has cracked in the conditions and it looks as though the plastic has shrunk in the heat.
Have a fav point. (I've been going through them over this weekend!)

The plastic lid of the cache container has cracked around the top. It is no longer waterproof.

Over the last few weeks I had to work a bit of overtime, which is unusual for me. Always good to make it up with a day off - but what could I possibly do with a weekday off to myself? Gardening? Not likely. I think there was only ever one choice ....

So, off to Woronora for some kayaking. Got here early, and did a couple other hard caches waiting for the kayak hire place to open. Then onto to the water. Could this be the day I fill in my D/T grid? Just got to find the final in this series.

Unfortunately I wasn't in tune with high tide. And boy is the mud sticky! I'm gald the co-ords were great, and there was a standard spot where it was going to be!

Ventured into this interesting place on a fast falling tide which in retrospect wasn't the best of ideas. After a 20m knee deep mud wade to shore I discovered that I zigged instead of zagged and I had another 15 to go in another direction. Once I got over my hesitation to tackle the oysters I had the CIH but realised that after all my stuffing around I now had about 50m of mud to tackle before my boat would float. Feeling a bit nuts this was reinforced when I realised that I forgot to look for the clue for the bonus cache. But... I would do it all again (and I will have to ... but on a higher tide!) TFTC

While it had been a long drive down it was offset by finding a few caches along the way, AND this series made up for the tiredness on the way home! The arms had to be covered by a raincoat, and tho it certainly was NOT raining it was rather chilly out there at that hour of the morning. Not only is it the darkest before dawn, it is also the coldest. At least there was no mosquitoes!
All good with the cache.

Dry and intact. Left: a Correct Site Marker - surgical marking pen.
And this will be another cache for the Night Caching thesis bookmark.

Great to see this up and running again. Love this series of caches.
Found on a beautiful morning paddle. Katsumar spotted it as soon as we got close. Fascinating to see the old Oyster Farm.
Now we just have to find the coordinates from #2 so we can go for the bonus. Where did we put them???
Container as looking a little sparse so we left an alligator, a croissant (rubber not fresh!) and a duck Trackable who should feel very much at home but does apparently want to go North.

With low, high tides this weekend, it was a quick splash and grab to get the coordinates for the bonus cache so we can do the full series next weekend. Just had enough water undet the kayak to make it into the cove. After earlier unsuccessful visits, I didn't even turn on the GPS - just paddled straight to GZ & there it was. Thanks Hancock Clan & Walw for getting this one up again Cheers

An easy Sunday morning paddle to find this cache, with the new container now in place. Unfortunately I didn't look for the Bonus cache due to a boat parked right adjacent to the landing spot; a good excuse for another paddle later!

Back for another crack on a nice Xmas tide, armed with a Garmin for more accuracy. It took me to the same mangrove. Widened the search - from the high to the low. No luck. Muggled? Maybe the ghosts of the old Oyster Farmers have been interfering?
(added a couple of photos)

Finally back on the water for some kayaking after a 12 month break. Woke up early this morning and decided to head down to Burnum Burnum Reserve to head out and find the On yer' boat! series. This cache was the first stop. Sadly, the cache appears to be no longer there, assuming it's the same hide method as the other two in the series.
An enjoyable visit nonetheless, looking at the old oyster bits and pieces.
best wishes,

My first geocaching attempt. Know the spot quite well - regularly paddle past and have explored the old oyster farm ruins, so I thought this one would be a nice easy one to start me off. I was pretty confident that I have the right spot - right down to the T-ree but could find nothing.

That was last week. Now more experienced and armed with a new GPS I will try again and look forward to completing the series in the weeks ahead. I note it's been nearly a year since they were visited. Hope they are still in situ.

After No 1 we carried on up the Woronora to our next destination. There is a patch of houses hereabouts seemingly stacked one atop the other up the hillside each one eagerly craning for a view of the waterway along which we wended. Once again we crossed the Woronora back over to the western shore thence into a side bay. Throughout the mangroves here were scattered the remains of number of oyster racks. Long disused now and rapidly decaying. Midst the mangrove greenery it was an oddly melancholy sight. We soon had the cache found and the duties completed. Nice quiet spot here - away from the main waterway and it's attendant marine traffic.

27-Dec-11
This location was my favourite one. Loved exploring the little inlet and the old oyster farm. Again the cache was quickly found thanks to high tide, no sign of any oysters or mud. It was very calm and peaceful here. The amount of water allowed us to paddle through the mangroves and oyster farm to the other side, which was really quite fun, and onwards towards the mystery bonus cache.
Took the Baa GC.

21-Dec-11
Due to poor planning we ventured out at low tide which resulted in us trudging through knee deep mud. Filthy but successful!

This was my second find in the series - yes I'm going out of order. The tide was dropping but I was still able to paddle to within a few metres of the cache but that mud is very soft and sticky. There is so much history along the Woronora River. I have paddled it a number of times buy never before been into this little backwater. TNLN. TFTC.
Now on to no.2! On second thoughts, I have had enough mud for one day. I'll be back to complete the series another time.

Webguy refers to my tinnie as the "Oyster Cruncher" and that is an apt description of what she endured today. The tide was going out quickly as we approached GZ. Had to wade about 20m to shore in calf deep mud sprinkled with old oyster shells that would slice through bare feet.
I've been on this river for many years but never ventured to this little corner.

I downloaded the Groundspeak geocaching app on to my Samsung Android phone yesterday and was giving it a test drive today. The wretched thing had me all over the place under the trees within a 50m radius making it almost impossible to narrow down GZ. I think it's more to do with the dodgy GPS in the phone than the app. The actual app is pretty good for a $9 investment.
Anyway I had to call Mr Hancock for some pointers.

I was also worried about dropping the phone in the water and wrecking it. Thankfully I didn't do that today. However next time I'll bring the Garmin on a boating trip. It's faster, more accurate and waterproof!

Didn't find a pen in the cache here either, so dipped a twig in the mud again.

Must have beaten Arkaroo to this one because I didn't see his log.
Thanks Hancocks.

Blood must flow! And why do we always look like a pig after attempting a cache of The Hancock Clan!

Because it's fun! [B)]

On yer' boat! Nice day today after so many rainy week ends, and winter coming shortly - so On yer' boat! There were two good reasons to get our duck out here: i) to hide a cache we've prepared since a while ago - Quibray Bay Mangroves and ii) seek the new On yer' boat series. Easy!

Advanced afternoon, the tide pretty low and descending further, we drove up the Georges River, past The Rat's cache Aladdin's Cave - overdue but again, the rock full of muggle anglers. Past On yer' boat! #1 (Mangrove Island) - no, too much mud, water too low - seek that later ...

The water in Audrey Bay was too low to navigate, so we landed east of GZ on a sand bar. Yes, sand - quicksand! But it was not very deep so a good spot to leave the boat and venture the last 70m or so by walking. Mud mud mud. But we sunk only foot deep. The land looked very impenetrable, therefore we decided to wander around the lip of the headland. The mud became deeper - but the real hassle were the hidden oysters. We better entered the land - or swamp - covered by oyster shells. Have you ever walked barefoot hundreds of meters on oyster shells? Try broken glass, and you know! Anyway, no way to give up. Balancing on the naily planks was really balsam for the feet! And mangrove roots - if you're not careful, they stick into your flesh! Few nice spots for photo shooting - thanks for bringing us here! Oh, too far! 12m behind! Found it! I sat on a tree relaxing my bleeding feet before hitting back. Through the water around was no good idea, as we stuck soon in the mud up to our knees. So straight through the country side.

Nice cache, well done! The kind we love! I tried to drop off the Hamburg Night Geocoin, but it did not fit through the opening. Cache Critters BAA Geocoin just made it and is now residing in this sub-tropic mangrove forest.

The Arkaroo - who loves the mountains and the waters.

*FTF* whew!
Continuing on from #1 & #2, geowife & I paddled back around the headland and away to find the oyster farm - which was a good paddle away - upwind and upstream (against the tide) - but eventually we reached GZ and managed to spot the cache which was again grabbed, signed and replaced.
Find #699 completed.
A great cache, well placed/hidden/disguised.
Had a little float about for a few minutes while I plugged all the numbers into the equation, and then the final numbers into the GPSr, before we were off again in the "race" to the final cache.
