Day 24 of our drive from Bright in Victoria to Brisbane, Queensland. It can be rather boring, so we cache as we go. We camped are currently camped in the showgrounds at Canungra in preparedness of this afternoon's event.

Multi scratches and tears later we found the blighter on the ground. Thanks for the hide Herbz

Not sure why a "needs maintenance" log was placed on this one as it appears to be OK. Will check on it asap though. But if next finder sees anything amiss, please mention in the log.

A day trip to Binna Burra with Nobby's Nuts and this was the first stop on the way.

There was a car parked close by when we stopped and before we could hop out of the car a woman appeared with a dog. We sat and waited a couple of minutes and she hopped in and drove away. We assume she had taken the dog for a swim.

We then approached GZ and the pools were deserted. It was an enjoyable view of the pools below as we searched and clung onto the bank.

It was Nobby who spotted the hide, thanks to the hint.

Herbz, Thanks for bringing us to this lovely spot

I was with Crew 153 for a trip to Binna Burra and this was our first cache.

I led the way down the path and soon found the tiny cache.

My geocaching reminder list is growing out of control but now I have to add another item. I need to remind myself to pack my pink poker-dot floaties into the geo-backpack.

The day was starting to warm up and just looking at the water made me jealous. I would describe the swimming hole as seductive but not necessarily inviting, like a supermodel vampire. The water looked a little stagnant but just dipping my toes in would have been enough.

Right next to GZ is one of those nasty Maclura cochinchinensis (yes I had to Google this because no mortal man would ever be able to spell it and if they can I hope I don’t run into them at the pub). My daughter caught a scratch that wasn’t even deep enough to make a baby cry. My little teenage baby was about to cry so I did the appropriate father thing and distracted her with a shiny toy rattle of the car keys and told her to drive me to the next hide. Tftc

Love this area, can't wait till summer

04-Aug-18
Found whilst cycling from Canungra up the valley to Illinbah. As the name suggests this would be a nice place to cool off in summer - but not when we visited in winter! TFTC in a spot we would never have known about or seen otherwise.

09-Jun-18
What a fun geo to get. Needed my geo husband to do this search cause of weak knees, but well worth it. TFTC

02-Jun-18
Beautiful spot. Start of winter but had to go swimming!

We are nomads. Having left Perth WA in February 2014 we now live in our caravan and go wherever the will or caches take us. Wink

Staying a few days in Canungra, we decided to head out and explore the surrounding area using Geocaching as a guide, before the predicted afternoon thunderstorms.

Smiley #1857 Found 28 January 2018 1:49 pm

We're in the area to attend an event. We were early so we decided to look for caches nearby. This one was a little bit far but because it's Herbz, this has got to be good. Glad we did! Such a sneaky hide. But what I love most is the swimming pool below! What a lovely sight! Such a hidden secret.

TFTC Herbz. A fav point for taking us here. All good with this cache.

Wow, what a lovely big creek hidden from the roadway but gee those prickly bushes are nasty to stick your head straight into without looking. Nice quick find with E(: and NeversayDi

It wasn’t hard once we followed the instructions and found out where to stand!!

A lively spot.

Thanks for the cache!!

06-Jan-18
Thanks got it this time all is good. Cover it with leaves but you can still see green tube. Watch out for the cockspur

22-Dec-17
FOUND: One green preform tube minus lid, full of water. Not sure how I missed this last time I was here! Added a bison tube with new log sheet on rite in the rain paper.

Nearby Sharp's Park River Bend is an awesome little spot to camp, the kids had a great time once they discovered making friends is easy and waaaay more fun than irritating the adults. The littlest one had a small harem of girls chasing him around and the biggest one wasn't going to leave the water without being extracted with surgical tools, much a stubborn wisdom tooth with associated pain

Found open, no lid.

Found a real nice spot for a cool dip and found thousand of baby freshwater mussels, but couldn't find the container. With the description you would have to be blind to miss it I thought...but maybe I am.

Thanks for the hunt Herbz, I've attached a photo of the baby mussels

18-Jan-17
No luck with this today....been a few that haven't been found for a while, that we can't find.

01-Jan-17
Unfortunately I was muggled out of this one....... There were atleast half a dozen cars at the location when I arrived and heaps more people just swamping this area so I decided to move along as I didnt want the cache exposed if I located it.

Thanks anyways Herbz

23-Sep-16
Without swimmers in the car for all the kids, we weren't too keen to let the kids out and play! But we really wanted to check out this swimming hole at the same time!
Turns out, that with all the recent rain, the creek was quite murky, the grass quite long and the kids weren't too keen to get in after all.
I imagine if you camped around the corner, this would make a fun swimming hole - and we'd love to find that cave you talked about!

Found the cache, and continued our journey home!

Decided since the hubby was away this weekend I would finally go for a lovely drive with Little Miss GeoToddler up the Illinbah Valley and grab several caches I've had my eye on for some time, this was my second stop. Walked down to GZ and my what a beautiful swimming hole. I will remember this place when summer comes around soon. Quickly found the cache after getting unexpectedly thorned in the process. TFTC, thank you for brining me to this swimming hole.

09-Aug-16
Nice little find. I run around this area all the time and didn't know this place existed.

What a surprise to find this big pool right beside the road. An easy find after a short search. Looking downstream there pears to be a substantial cave on the same side of the river, but we didn't investigate today. No swaps of course, but TFTC, herbz.

Mrs E down from Toowoomba caching around the Canungra area with my usual non-caching geocaching buddy - she loves exploring the countryside with me but has no desire to log her finds??! We admired the view and then got down to the business of cache finding. From the hint we thought this should be relatively straight forward...hmmm...nup. Back and forth, back and forth we went for what seemed like ages that we were beginning to wonder if it was still there. We paused for a think when my friend happened to glance at the bank and spied what may have been the tether. A closer look revealed the cache. Oh phew!! That was very well concealed. What with the spikey plants it took the two of us to extract it - one to hold the container and the other to twist the lid off...and again to replace. Put it all back exactly how we found it! Thanks Herbz.

Captain Terror and I were having a quiet afternoon and decided to get out of the house and go for a lovely drive. On the way up this road, at least an hour or so ago. Captain Terror pulled the car up here and told me that it was a lovely spot that sometimes had a waterfall. We wandered over to check it out and I left my phone in the car. I asked if there was a cache here and he said no.

Fast forward an hour or so and I had found 6 more Herbz caches and this was the last one for me today. "200metres, maybe you could park where we did last time we parked here?" The Captain and I laughed about his horrific memory and my poor choice in trusting his memory. We followed the hint which led us to within a foot of where he stood earlier today but this time we faced the other direction and grabbed the container. With my name in the logbook it was time to head to the car from this spot for the second time today. Thanks for the cache Herbz.

04-Nov-15
Took me a bit longer than it should have but got there in the end. Thanks!

06-Oct-15
Ahh it was some time ago, I think on the way to an event in Canungra maybe, that I stopped to take a look here and unfortunately the cache was not in place. But no worries, back again today to take a little look around and see if I could find it know that it was in place.

I checked out a couple of spots and tried to follow the hint, but it was taking a little while and not seeing anything. But soon enough I spotted something and a little bit of a check resulted in the cache. I got my name in the log before heading down to take a little closer look at the pools, to bad it looks like a tough ask to check out the cave across the pool, without swimming to it. Anyway maybe another day.

Sounds like this one has gone missing. We will check it out as soon as we can. Feel free to put a temporary cache down if you get there before us.

07-May-15
I was quite looking forward to this one. I planned to have lunch here. Alas, I was unable to find this one today. I wish I had have looked at previous logs earlier. I gave it a good college try.

Nevertheless, it was a lovely area and I did end up having lunch in this beautiful spot.

06-Dec-14
I stopped here for a little look on the way to the event, and after a little looking in a few different spots, following a few potential options for the hint and getting caught on one or two spikey plants, I decided to leave it for another day.

In saying that I did see one good potential spot that looked like it may have housed a container, but not definite enough.

16-Nov-14
Found the pools but not the cache Red Face

05-Oct-14
Parked the car nice and close. Those pools must be very inviting on a hot day like today, but alas I was ill prepared for a swim. Onwards I walked and followed the route as suggested in the description. A little poke and at the right angle, I was able to get this one! TFTC Herbz

Spent a couple of days camping at the Sharp Park camping area with the geofamily, so what else do you do when in a situation like this... grab all the nearest caches of course.

Gotta love this activity we call geocaching - what else could you do that would bring you to great little spots in the country like this. Without caching, most people would just drive by (as they do) and have no idea that a great little spot like this was here.

Parked very close to gz. Jumped out and a quick search and we soon had the cache in our hands.

Log signed and replaced and then we just had to spend a little extra time exploring this spot.

Thanks for the hunt Herbz.

Cheers,
Ksix

TFTC great team day out with the guys from Logan. Another Smile on map.

This is a top spot to come back too, out and about with a convoy of cachers. With some moments of viewing the lower level pools in the creek with not much water around the other local creeks this one still had a great deal of water movement and deep spots that looked as they needed swimmers in. Great spot love this location tftc

cache find # 1851. A group of Logan Geocaching members met up here to find the cache. Found easily. The little members of the group loved finding the cache. TFTC.

Out and about with Couchmen, and three of my kiddies, on a run to do Kilarney Glen cache and others in the general area. Only really a half day caching, but we still managed 12 including the awesome Kilarney glen cache. Thanks to all cache owners for hiding and maintaining their caches.

A bit of scrambling about, but Couchmen eventually came up with find. TFTC.

I was out today with Blacklegend and part of his junior team trying to clear out this area.

It was a beautiful day and the bush was looking spectacular.

BL & I both love being out in the country as opposed to suburbia and so we had a ball!!!!

BL took the high road and I took the low road but he soon joined me and we made our way to GZ.

I found the cache quickly, safe and sound.

I hadn't read the hint when we were there but it is VERY appropriate.

Thanks Herbz TFTC SL

Headed out this way this morning for a few finds before a day of yard work. We have some friends that live out here, driven past a few times and didn't realise there was a swimming hole here. Will be coming back in summer for sure. The water is way to cold today.

Cache # 2295, Found @7:12:00 AM.

A bit of a balancing act to get to this one but soon had it in hand. I imagine this would be a very popular spot during summer.

Thanks to Herbz for the cache

Thank you for bringing us to this spot. Very pretty.

This one had gone missing so we replaced it with a preform tube.

Last of the day. I had driven past this one at the start of my journey up the valley to the Tabletop, as there were muggles parked up.

On the way back, the coast was clear. Thousands of people must drive past this and not know this nice spot even existed. The Pools could use a good flush from a nice storm as they look a little stagnant. Sure is dry.

Cache was found exacly as per the clue. TFTC Herbz and a nice hour or two driving this valley collecting caches.

Amazing, a Herbz cache that doesn't require special equipment (usually carried by Herbz himself), a twisted view of the world or carrying your heart in your mouth over tricky terrain. TFTC
