A very grey and wet Melbourne day. Perfect for exploring without too many interruptions. What a beautiful little cemetery. Thankyou for this cache and the opportunity to see this area. And what a view from across the graves.TFTC
No help from the dead today and luckily it wasnt too far to go to locate the cache. Nice quiet little spot and luckily it was too cold today for snakes . TFTC
My grandfather being a stonemason makes me extra respectful in places like this. He'd have plenty of work restoring graves here sadly. Thanks for showing us more of Queenstown Paul
While in the area, drove down and walked up to find the cache. Hopefully havent disturbed anyone.
Mr Fleabag- has a goal to reach 10,980 geocaches before departing Australia to celebrate a big 11,111 milestone overseas and invited me to join him for a day's caching.Fleabag- had previously found this cache and had his lunch, whilst I began the search and hoped that the dead were not going to help!My GPS was quite bouncy and I slowly and carefully trod along to be respectful as I tried to make my own path to GZ to sign the log.Surprisingly other visitors arrived just as I found the cache and I made my way back down quietly.thanks for the hide.
Having decided we needed a walk after all the Christmas goodies eaten over the last couple of days, this traditional cache certainly delivered, and the views were quite wonderful too. Easy find in the end. Thanks for the fun.
Wow, what a great cemetery. Visiting friends this side of town and getting a tour of the backroads of the area. Couldnt believe my good fortune in finding an actual cache here. What a great day its turned out to be. Thanks Paul_the_Hippy for placing this cache, for bringing me here and contributing to this great game for others to enjoy. Happy trails, Deanside
While out with my bushwalking club we made this our lunch stop. Well not really here but just at the picnic area nearby. It was a short walk up the hill and a quick find. Thanks for the cache Paul the hippy, cache is in good condition
Found with icw. Life would have been hard for the pioneers buried in this cemetery, but they rest in a place vibrant with bird and plant life. In the cemetery reserve I found Yam daisies (Microseris sp.), Wax-lipped orchids (Glossodia major), plus many other wildflowers I couldn't name. Bird life included White-throated tree creepers, Spotted pardalotes, Superb fairy-wrens, Laughing kookaburras and Yellow-faced honeyeaters. Thank you for bringing me to this bushland reserve.
A bit creepy but a beautiful spot. Lots of cool carnivorous plants and even a greenhouse orchid nearby. Thanks for bringing me here!
Found this one while out for a drive today. Dropped into the St Andrews market and lunch at the pub. Never knew this cemetery was here. Interesting to read all about it. Thx
I initially came out to collect the Golden oldie multi but figured I would also collect this cache. I'm not sure if it was the misty morning or just the vibe but this cemetery felt very eriy.
We had heard about Sparky's First while listening to an interview with gmj3191. We were deciding on a cache for today, and a visit to the Queenstown Cemetery would allow us to find Sparky's as well as this trad and an Ad Lab stage.
It was a very enjoyable drive out to Smith's Gully. The grave yard was extremely peaceful and fascinating to walk around. We began with a walk up to this cache. A very nice place to explore.
Thanks for the cache Paul_the_Hippy.

Out in the area for an Ad Lab, so may as well get this too. A very quiet place, not surprisingly.
Found by iamapom at 12:31 on 11/6/2023. Thanks to Paul_the_Hippy for the Traditional. This is Iamapom’s find number 2678. Greetings from Melbourne Australia.
This took far longer to find than it should have. An Ad Lab that needs to be completed sequentially that finishes near my house needed to be ticked off so we journeyed out to the lovely little place. Cheers!
Beautiful spot - came out for an Ad Lab stage and was glad to see a trad here too. Tftc!
I went for a drive out to St Amdrews to do the new adventure lab that started out there and I also needed a puzzle for today's calendar.
Since I was here anyway I took the walk through the cemetery and up the hill. The cemetery could probably do with a but of maintenance but it's a bit hard to mow this hill !
Thanks Paul_the_Hippy for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

The aim of today was to target 4 old caches in the Eastern side of Melbourne to help me with my Ausmer Grid as after completing my D/T grid recently that is the next grid to fill out.
So got up nice and early (On a Sunday who does that) to be able find those and any other ones in the area.
So after finding the 4 oldies that I was chasing I had a bit of time to find a couple of others before heading home.
Since I was here for Sparkys First I had a good look around the old cemetery to have a read of the headstones that I could find then I was able to carefully wander up the hill to look for this one.
Soon located the cache and added my name to the log.
Thanks Paul_the_Hippy TFTC.

Found during an early morning circuit around the backroads of St Andrews while staying nearby. Thanks for the cache Paul_the_Hippy!
After attending the Bunnings sausage sizzle event in Mernda we decided to try our luck at a few labs and whatever else came along before heading back home and this cache was one of them as we were going to attempt the nearby lab
We were here to do a stage of the adventure lab that starts here and having a trad here made it even better. After collecting the answer we required we headed off for a bit of a wander through the tombstones . Although it was extremely muddy after all the recent rains we managed to get to gz unscathed and happily the cache was a nice quick find in the second place we looked and now the log book contains our name. We returned everything as we found it.
Thanks Paul the Hippy for the cache.

We found this cache today on our Rainy 7 Adventure Lab Run. An early start and a new lab cache point at this cemetery meant that we should grab this cache too whilst we were here.

Found with Jeckleberryandtedd, lovely to see the history of this little cemetery and hear the abundant birdsong. Tftc
Sometimes my cache blindness astounds me. I’m sure I stepped over it. Ha.
Eventually the find was made. A very well preserved cemetery here. Clearly someone loves it.
There was one tomb stone that stood out from the rest…

After working out the coordinates for the nearby multi, we nearly left without finding this one. Made our way to the top of the hill and eventually caught our breath as we uncovered the hide.

I know Sparkky’s First is nearby, but this area is interesting enough to have two caches. Thanks Paul the Hippy for the placement.
Out with my youngest picking up the two caches at this old cemetery. Lots of history here. It’s a shame the bushfires damaged so many of the headstones. Thank you Paul_the_Hippy for placing and maintaining The Dead May Help for us to find today.
Find # 1120.

I needed a multi today and I had noticed the Ausmer cache nearby which I needed to fill a gap in my Ausmer grid. A perfect way to kill two birds with one stone.
After collecting the details for it, I turned my attention to the trad nearby and wandered through the cemetery on my way to GZ.
A quick find later and I was soon signing the log.
Thanks Paul_the_Hippy for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

I found the cache after a walk up the hill, then was going to photograph a grave requested on Find a Grave, but found that not all people buried here have headstones with their names on them and based on the cemetery survey board. Anyway thanks for bringing me here.
Love exploring old cemeteries! This is a beautiful place of history. Found with Jeniquoi and Teddy
Great little walk and explore around the cemetery before finding this one. Some amazing history here. Tftc
Easy cache that I imagine would take some time to be muggled. Left a cat inside.
Find #1035
I have always had a fascination for old cemeteries, but not in a morbid way. I started genealogy when I was twelve years old, in hunt of a convict... and after thirty plus years, I still can only find free settlers in the tree. Cemeteries were always good sources of information though and I enjoyed the hunt of trying to find the old ancestors... a bit like finding unlove on an old cache really lol!
In my twenties I got into photography and my mate and I used to hunt out the old gold mining cemeteries and towns that were long forgotten and see if we could capture, the haunting and eerie feel that they can exude. Black and white was the way to go, especially on days where the mist is low and the sun shine is trying to burst through. Gee we used to have fun!
Today though, I am not in hunt for an ancestor nor to take photos, it’s all about the cache. I was collecting a few target caches nearby and having completed my mission looked further afar to see what else was on offer. Needless to say, who can say no to a cemetery cache! Nice easy walk to gz and log book signed. Thanks for the cache and bringing me to what looks like a forgotten cemetery.
Edit: noticed that my new geostamp had the wrong date on it... I must need glasses! I did find it today, I did my digital log right after the find!

Lovely walk over the road to St Andrews market. On every Saturday what a great way to spend the morning.
Found with FUF009 on our hunt for 12 types today.
It was a long day beginning at 5am and ending at 8.30pm and ranging all over the city.
We were here to get the information for an old multi. Tftc

Fascinating location totally not where you would expect a cemetery to be. We've done some goldmining caches around Warrandyte but didn't know about history here. Are any of the Chinese families still in the area?
You made me walk all the way up and down this hill two times because I left my phone up there but besides that good spot
Time to visit cemetery according to Dreamy who is enjoying his first day of freedom in 12 months so it is off to this one which has a multi in the same location. Geo Navara parked across the road and geo pup and team head off to get the info for the multi before attacking this cache. A quick walk up the hill and a bit of a look around and cache reveals itself, so log is duly retrieved and signed. Cache was rehidden and then it was off to find the multi. to Paul the Hippy TFTC from Inspectorrexteam
Found on 31 August 2019 at 3:44:43 pm. Find #2794. Great location. Had a good look through the historic grounds.

A little bit of spare time this evening so I came to collect a few caches. A nice calf burn to the cache. Thanks to Paul_the_Hippy for the placement and fun.
I was in the area trying to find an old multi and I saw this cache and thought that 2 caches are better than 1 cache. A short walk from the cemetery in very pleasant surroundings. All is in good condition. TFTC.

On first arriving here for "Sparky's First", I looked up the hill and thought what a wonderful place that would be for a cache...
I gathered my info surprised that my numbers didn't lead me up the hill. But a look in the database revealed THIS fine cache.
I slowly ambled up the incline as I soaked up the history and serenity. It was lovely.
I spiralled around a number of times before I could actually zero in on this hide. The skink cache guardian must have been amused watching me, lol.
All is well here and I discovered a couple of TBs within.
Thanks, Paul_the_Hippy. This was an idyllic location to visit which taught me something - I never knew St Andrews used to be called Queenstown.
Now... off to get Sparky's!

It would have made sense to grab this cache as we were hunting-down clues for the nearby multi.
But that would take away all the fun.
And so we dropped back in on our way back through, to sign the log and liberate a TB.
Thanks Paul for the cache.

After taking part in Race 2 of this year's Trail Running Series we were sitting at the General Store when geoD decided we should pick up a couple of caches. This was the nearest to us so we started with it but that shouldn't be an indictment of the cache as it took us to a picturesque piece of history.

In the area with GemmaSistema hitting up the nearby geo art we decided to target this one, thanks for the hide.
A day of geocaching with wozzle68 today saw us complete the nearby geoart then hunt out some other nearby caches. Some fabulous history in this location. Many thanks for the cache which was an easy find although I huffed and puffed a little!
Wednesday last week i recieved a message from TrailStevo suggesting we solve the Space Endeavour puzzles and head out and find them this week. I suggested it sounded like a good idea, but then it dawned on my I didn't know where /what they were. A quick look at the map and there it was, where did that come from?! So friday we set to solving them, and tonight we headed out for a leisurely drive and and some quick finds. Probably took around 1hr 30min to find them all and then we continued to find a few other traditioanals on teh way home. A few drives down some more trails, a few short walks and a wander around the grave yard at night. I think we found over forty for the nights. Thanks to GeocachingMelbourne, Gaga66, Paul the Hippy, Dor, Kangadrew72 for all the caches.
I came here many moons ago for an old geocache. Now back to grab this one in an amazing old cemetery tucked away in here. On the way back from doing the Planetary Pursuit series. Thanks for the cache.
After completing the Space Endeavour caches, LouJean70 and I swung around to grab this one before heading home. We (more so I) have a fascination with cemetery caches, seeing who walked this land before ect.
Thanks for bringing us here. GeoDaughter had more fun trying to guess which animals had left the different sized poo’s around

In the area today, a long way from home, with ASP84 for the nearby space series. We are always on the look out for a cemetery cache so this was the perfect final find for our day. Thank you for bringing us here
After finding all the parts to the rocket with Gunks, had some time left to find others nearby. Made for a successful night. TFTC.
A great little location. Out on a drive on a lovely autumn day and dropped in to get this one
Suscoe enjoyed the walk up to GZ.
What a lovely old cemetery to see.
So many stories forever contained here.

I drove past this cemetery a few months ago, and thought it looked kinda cool, but just kept going. I only realised today that it contains cache-related things, so that was apparently incentive enough for jimbo_80 and I to finally have a look. It's officially a bitchin' cemetery. Interesting to see that the cemetery has plenty of room to grow, if necessary; might have to make enquiries. The cache itself was found very quickly indeed. Thanks once more Paul_the_Hippy!
BendSinister was loving this cemetery! We calculated GZ for the multi, but before that we made our way to find this cache. Very peaceful here and the cache was a quick find.
Thanks

A nice old cemetery. Always enjoy a visit to these old places. My Ancestors arrived in Australia in 1863. Many of them involved in mining for Gold. A quick easy find.

A consolation for the trouble we had with deriving coords for the nearby multi that fit in with a previous finder's recollection. A little bit of fun at night in a cemetery. Thanks as always for keeping these caches going, Paul.
Spooooooooky! We found it at night time in the rain and it was a bit spooki, on the way out we found bones! TFTC!
What a great place for kangaroos to explore and me of course. We were the only ones around this historic place today. Thanks Paul.
In a cemetery full of surnames of kids I went to school with I found this great cache. Lots of memories evoked by the bush and the graves. Now I'll go a visit the grave of a fellow I went to high school with over the road . It sounds like home too. Thanks for bringing me back here.
Not quite sure what I should write here. Cemetery's (not Cementery, Paul, although there is a fair bit of cement around here) both intrigue me and depress me. Intrigue because of the window to our history they provide and depress me . . . , well for obvious reasons!

Found it! With the Walkabouters today, walking from St Andrews to Queenstown. So many orchids out today, even in the rain! I've attached a couple of photos of some orchids near GZ. Thanks Paul for the cache! Cache is in good condition. Left a squishy dolphin we found on the track!
