#4942 - 14:25; Our week in New York was drawing to a close and we had checked off most of the sights we had on the 'to do' list for this trip. Going Coastal’s NY-NJ Harbor Estuary EarthCache Discovery Trail in Liberty State Park in New Jersey was on the 'to do if you can get there' list on the recommendation of a caching mate back in Australia who had been here before. I was happy that I was able to make it over the river to walk the trail, although the temperature in excess of 90 degrees F made for a hot one. Finally made it to the end of the trail and after gathering the required information for the email sent to the CO for the OK, it was time for the long walk back and maybe a stroll around the suburbs for some more caches. TFTC Going Coastal, adding a favorite for the series to this cache

Final Earthcache for the day and the end of a good series. I have managed to use the local facilities and am now a bit more comfortable, and have also calmed down a bit after my rather bitter rant against my fellow man. This has been helped by seeing the signs for interpretive programs taking people around to see what is there, and kayaking courses out in the bay. This seems a lot closer to nature.
I have to read this set of questions a few times. I suddenly realise what the questions are after, it isn't what fossil evidence can I see but what would be the future evidence from what is there now. Having worked that out then I can convince myself I am at the right place and can come to something approximating sensible answers (at least I hope so, depending on whether or not the cache owner accepts them).
I am left with a walk back to the car. And it is about this time that I first realise that I have been bitten by super sized mossies. Just how many I won't realise until the next day. And for the next week I will bear the marks of this walk. Even so, it was well worth it. Thank you.

We found that earth cache on our US-tour. Due to the rain not so perfect, but interesting.
Many thanks to the owners.

Last one in the series that we can do. We loved the walks around the park. Thank you for putting these out there. TFTC
See my log for Liberty Enlightening (GC2T1KZ) for a discussion of my approach to this series.
Earthcache #9 complete! We have nearly finished up our tour of this great park. I didn't get to see what I was looking for when working on this cache, but I'm sure it's there...somewhere Thanks for the great Earthcache series!
Can't believe how many times I have driven the NJturnpike on road trips over the last 20 years and didn't know about this gem of a park. Hit a few of the earth caches here.
Stopped here to see the view of Statue of Liberty with guests from Texas. Only had time to grab two of the series. Hope to do more in the future. Tide seemed to be out. Thanks for teaching us a little about the marsh...TFTC
Fourth eartcache this morning. There are a lot of natural phenomenas to discover and learn about. I so wish I could walk for a few hours with someone who knows a lot about it.
Thanks for this Eartcache Going Coastal.

On my way to Cape May, NJ from NH to visit the folks, for Dad's 81st and mothers day! Was able to score this find on the way down! Will send the answers over the next day. One at a time. The devestation of sandy certainly has influenced the area. I spoke with several park rangers and they are not sure when things will fullyreopen! Thanks for bringing me here! TFTC, ponil

Interesting. Wish this area wasn't still closed off from the hurricane.

Found it with emmacupcake. There was tons of damage near by from Sandy. Nice location though!
Had a very nice time visiting this area and enjoying looking for several earth caches- just stellar! NH Travelers submitted our answers for us. My thanks to the CO for the work put into creating these. My apologies for the very late log!
