A beautiful morning in the lagoon, just the multi I was after. Coords and cache found no issue, TFTC.
I visited this lovely area and cache with JustLookingOO and Trinity NZ about 6 months or so ago, quite soon after I had returned to NZ from 2 years of living overseas. As I had not completed the multi, I didn't sign the log and didn't pay much attention to what was going on, eg where exactly the log was or what it looked like. I was more interested in the feature further down the boardwalk, so wandered off while the ladies did their thing. We moved on and, at that point, I didn't even know which multi final it was as I only had a specific list of caches available (and no data) on my phone that day. I figured I'd catch up with it eventually.Fast forward many months and I was back in the area, walking right past GZ again, when my memory was jogged. This time I had data, so I looked for nearby multis and deduced which one. Back to the start (which I had already walked past), did the sums and made my way back to the final.Took a few minutes to find the log (should have paid more attention!), only to find my name had been added to the log back when. I added it again today TFTC tmann421 ,';*={thanks}-*;', ,;:*(thanks}:*;*:{thanks}*:;, ,;{thanks}:;:*{thanks}:;:{thanks);, `;:{thanks};:{thanks}:;{thanks}:;' `*&;:{thanks}:;:{thanks},:;&*' `-+;:*{thanks}*:;+-` `-\\\||///-' __ \\||// __ / `------' \ | }-(______)-{ | \___/ |||| \___/ /_, |||| ,_\
On a road trip together with -moge-; across New Zealand; from Cape Reinga to Stewart Island; up, down, right, left ... So much to see, so much to experience. So many great, and sometimes old, caches! But I can hardly keep up with the logging. Far too exhausted from all the experiences. I am sorry that it will now be a standardized log for some founds.
Hello tmann421,Another day, another Cache.Together with Dr Donna travelling through New Zealand. We arrived at Auckland Airport and made our way up north. After visiting Cape Reinga we went on our way South to reach Stewart Island with stops in many different Citys all over the country. Of course we have an open eye for nice Caches but take what we can get. Today we came across your Cache and signed the logbook with our names or took pictures for Virtuals and Earthcaches. Its great how many nice spots we are able to discover through our journey and how many of them we only See because of Geocaching! Thanks for bringing us to this place and takeing care for the geocache. Out for a fun days caching in Waikanae on a glorious winters day with JustlookingOO and maplerosenz. I think this is about the third or fourth time Ive been here. I think the hint today is a bit different than previously, so this time I was able to find the cache. It was also helpful to have a previous finder in the group. Good to get revenge on this previous DNF.Logs today signed either as MiJiT for the three of us, or in our separate names as between the three of us some of us had found various caches. Thanks for the cache!
On my trip north (to Wanganui) today I had reason to come through Waikanae to visit some friends who were not there. While I was in the area, I came to find a few caches that I hadn't previously found, and this was one of them.A nice easy multi, although I couldn't find the answer to C but with the help of the checksum I figured it out. On arrival at the coordinates calculated the cache was found safe and well where expected. ---Thanks to tmann421 for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.
After collecting the required information it was a short walk to gz. Took a bit longer than necessary to find the cache, but we got there in the end. Thanks for setting up - another multi dot-day ticked off.
Trouve ! / Found it ! Merci tmann421 pour la cache It was time to change this DNF into a little yellow guy. Since the owner checked the cache, I should find it this time. And it will only be a minute before I get my hands on it. Last time, it escaped me but it could have already been there...5355th cache found.Thank you tmann421 for the cache
Nice day to explore the board walkcache in good nickneed to let gps settle downhad to walk away to be able to get new fixsingle shot gps can be + _ 10 metres
Stopped by to check this cache out.Area looks terrible - really overgrown and messy.Found the container easily - yes was wet so replaced.
We were house hunting close by, little miss wanted a playground break which we were happy to oblige. A quick look on the GC app and there was a multi too close to not do it. To work out the final was straight forward. Finding the cache took a while longer. Coords are correct, camouflage was just too good we had a battle scar to show (cut my finger on the flax). There was water standing in the box which we now emptied but logbook too wet to sign. Picture will be sent to CO as proof .thanks for bringing us here
\_()_/Non Trouve / Not found Pourtant que je pense que les coordonnes sont bonnes et ce n'est pas faute d'avoir bien cherch... Dommage...However, I think the coordinates are good and it's not for lack of looking carefully... Too bad...
I had another attempt at this one today, and even following the hints closely, no luck finding the cache after 15 minutes of looking. I'll be back.
Tried this one once before and thought I had the wrong numbers as it didn't look possible to hide a cache here, But - yes, coordinates very correct and cache where it should be. Another great cache thanks tmann421.
Well…that was an exercise in frustration. I couldn’t even get the correct answer for the AdLab. Searched “between” the boardwalk and the several flax bushes where my phone read two or less metres.
I had to leave before I committed Harekeke.
I had to leave before I committed Harekeke.
We had a great time looking for it but despite our efforts it was not their maybe it was removed but we have no clue where it could be. - the three musketeers!
Found while on our first excursion through Transmission Gully. What a great improvement. Nice to stretch our legs to this. TFTC
Yeh Hey! this time it was a find and a very straight forward find at that. Why did we miss it 4 years ago i wonder !
I went straight to the GZ and i soon had it in hand and got it signed and replaced with out any muggles nearby. we left the site before checking on the Lab caches and so we did have to return here for that Lab cache.
thank you for this cache Finally changed the blue face to a smile ! !

An enjoyable day out with HS. Beautiful scenery and lots of birds around minding their own business. Tf this multi.
Had some family over from Australia, thought we’d show them about caching. Junior and 6 year old cousin had a great time solving the coordinates and finding the cache. We may have made a new recruit.
Thanks!
Thanks!
After trying the physical Multi that I had give away as I couldn't find one WP container, Maggie the geohound and I came here to ginish the AL. We then dealt with this Multi. All good at GZ. Enjoyed our walks. TFTC
Came to use the playground with my little tag along and was stoked with the neat boardwalk that I would not have noticed if not for this multi. Thanks for showing us this place.
I had been doing the nearby Lab cache, and noticed this nearby Multi. Looked easy enough so picked up the answers I needed, and headed out to the final. Lovely spot, no problems with the final, such a nice place to explore, TFTC
A pleasant evening to come for a wander around the lagoon. Answers extracted without issue, then a quick find at GZ. Retrieved a TB. Thanks for recent maintenance! Tftc!
Checked on cache, with the recent floods the inside was damp and log ruined.
Replaced the entire container, there was a travel bug inside so put it in the new container.
Have updated hint to make search easier, but final co-ords were perfect.

We were in the process of completing the “By the Estuary” Adventure Lab caches(s) when we decided to go after this one. Worked out the coords easily enough but made hard work of locating the actual cache. Must have spent 15-20 minutes looking for it in the area described by the hint. About to head away and record a DNF, when one last search saw us come up with the goods! Based on where the container was, in theory I should have picked it up with no difficulty! Not sure why that didn’t happen!
Unfortunately the container had accumulated quite a bit of water inside, no doubt the result of two torrential downpours earlier this month in these parts. Emptied that out but unable to dry or sign the saturated logsheet. I have attached a photo instead. #4386. TFTC.

We were coming down to the Kapiti coast area to visit a family member so decided to come a day early and get caching to gain elevation on the latest Peak Challenge. We mainly focused on Ad Labs but also associated or nearby caches. We were a bit concerned after yesterday’s storm and flooding but we had a perfect day, except for some wetness underfoot at times, especially in the wetlands!
Gathering the information for the coordinates for this cache was straightforward. We then proceeded to make our way to GZ but found this was where the flooding of the last two days had most effect. The way was very boggy in places and when we reached GZ we tried searching for the cache but where we thought it was was actually under water, so we thought we must be wrong and eventually gave up.
Later we learnt this was indeed a result of the flooding, the cache is not normally under water! The CO has consequently given his permission for us to log a find. This is much appreciated.
Also thank you tmann421 for encouraging us to visit this very interesting area. TFTC.

I found myself in Waikanae late this afternoon as I was due to attend a mate's 50th birthday celebration this evening, so figured I had a bit of extra time to find myself a cache of the day.
There aren't many I haven't yet bagged around here, but as Multis tend to be my least preferred cache type I knew I should be able to find one to attempt, and here it was.
Getting the info was straightforward, although without a checksum it was hard to know if what I had was right. But I trusted to where the solved co-ords seemed to be taking me, and soon enough I was in a likely location.
Hunting around GZ, the Hint ultimately helped although it still took a few minutes to locate. But otherwise no issues to report here. The cache and log are in fine condition, and were replaced as found.
Thanks for bringing me here this arvo.

Out for a walk with muggles mother and sister. We hadn't been here before even though the family bach is nearby - a lovely spot. It was a perfect opportunity for all of us to go hunting for the clues along the way. It took a little longer to find than it should have, but the hint is spot on! Cache all in good order. TFTC.
This wasn't the easiest multi to work through on the phone but I ended up with plausible coords eventutally. Took a couple of minutes to locate the cache which I thought was a pretty good hide. TFTC.
When I started caching back in 2013, one of the first caches I found was one of the Curse of the FTF series. So I put the whole series on my to-do list, including this one. Over the years since then I have done most of them - but never managed to come this far up the coast. While this cache has been renamed, presumably to distance itself from the now-banned Cursed series, it's still one I've wanted to do all this time. Today while in the area I quickly solved the coordinates and made the find a short time later, in about the third place I checked. Great place here, though I didn't see much birdlife - thanks for bringing me here tmann421!
DNF'ed this back in 2017 but CO later visited and found it had been incorrectly placed.
Took the opportunity to have another look while doing the new Adventure Lab in the area.
An easy find this time.
Good to find a nice big cache with the clues not having involved any mental gymnastics.
Gets a favorite point.

#9142. It was raining in the morning in Wellington but it cleared up early in the afternoon. I had seen there was a new bonus cache published for an adventure lab so decided to head up to Waikanae and do the lab caches plus any nearby normal caches. This was one of them. Not sure I have been to this lake previously and enjoyed walking around here to take in the paths and the wetlands. I stopped to gather the information needed for this multi and soon had a final at a place I had already walked past! So headed back there and with the hint I quickly tracked down its secure hiding spot. Have dropped off two trackables. Signed the log and replaced everything as found. Thanks tmann421 for setting up this fun multi.
Found on a hot summer’s day after swimming in the Waikanae River to cool off. Perfect coordinates and a quick find with the hints. Took three TBs. TFTC
Nice quick find on a sunny but windy day which means few people around. Nice secure hie so dropped 4 TBs that have been in our hands for a while.
17 October 2020 14:40. A brief wander down memory lane here, spent ages round here whwn my youngest was tiny. Good to reexplore 'the secret path'. Cache is in fine fettle. Tftc
Thanks tmann421 for placing this cache
Today on another visit to my Dad he was talked into allowing a second cache...
This scenic multi was selected and soon found as GZ was serenely quiet today - I didn't see another person on the whole lagoon walk.
Well camouflaged and as described in hint. The container was so nice and dry that I added a TB recently retrieved from the South Island. Hope it has a short but peaceful rest here TFTM

A beautiful Easter Friday to stroll around the area and get a few caches. Never been to the lagoon before. Had to wait for a while as a couple of muggles were hanging around. Straightforward find. Thanks for placing the cache
Came back for a second look after lunch and found it within 5 min. Not sure why it was so hard the first time. Miss 5 swapped swag. Cache is in good condition. Lovely walk. Tftc.
Nice quick walk to GZ although very wet underfoot.
Container quickly located and log signed

Nice straightforward multi, school holiday find with my boys, we used to spend a lot of time around here when they were younger, a bit wet underfoot today but cache was dry, youngest was hoping to feed the eels nearby afterwards but the bird watching hide was boarded up, he swapped a bouncy ball for some marbles, TFTC
Finally able to grab another cache after two recent DNFs. Coordinates soon worked out and the a short but pleasant walk to game zone . Had the whole place to my self and after looking where the coords said I should be , I then concentrated on the hint and found about 10 m from where my phone said I should be. All in good condition and surviving all the surrounding water. thanks for the multi.
Mrs Rattll found herself with a couple of days free, so decided to stay over night and explore the area a little more, which was great because it meant I finally had enough time to pick up some multi's and other caches that have been on the to-do list for a while now.
Having finally gotten around to getting the other cache near by, I headed here for a sit down and to do a few calculations. I had no trouble with the questions but somehow managed to change the settings on my new phone while doing it, and spent ages trying to get it back to recognising the NZ GPS system so I could put the revised co ords in (an easy fix when you know how). Then it was off to GZ and with the clue and the co ords spot on, it was a straight forward find. Although at one stage I had to hide things when a muggle ambled past.
I left a pet rock - a beaver.
Thanks for setting this up tmann421

sadly no find here! we searched for ages and the water level was quite high under the boardwalk.
Quickly worked out the puzzle, then after a short search in the rain and dying light the cache was in hand. TFTC
Checked cache and found it had not been put back as per hints.
Container was wet inside and log book quite damp so replaced with new 1 litre Sistema. Ready to be found.
Area is looking neglected and very overgrown since cache placed.

Did the solving fairly easy but could not find it. Phoned a friend who guided me to the same spot i was searching. Wat back again just to make sure but to no avail...
A nice easy multi to solve but no luck at the final. Interesting place which I was not familar with.
Did as instructed (as I normally do) but as this does not yield absolute accuracy I had to search around a little bit. Came to conclusion that it is in a place which was very wet, or more likely considering the hint that it was concealed in, on or under a certain object and despite some searching I couldn't spot it.

I was targeting this cache as it's the last of the defunct Cursed series caches still available that I hadn't found. I had previously come to the area several months ago and solved for the final. However I had the kids with me and none of us had the right footwear for navigating the very soggy (at the time) pathway, so put this on the back burner. Came by today as this was a suitable target for a mini challenge that I was undertaking so called by again, this time finding the other end of the path and made my way to the final. A bit of a hunt around and soon got my hands on the cache, with the surprise inside. Log nice and dry despite the water inside. TFTC+Fav for the area and for me finally completing the series.
Morning caching in Kapiti area. Second time here, no trouble to find the cache this time. This is my 100th tmann421 find. Thanks tmann421 for all your caches and this Multi.
#2219 A straightforward find in a lovely spot. Very peaceful and had the place to ourselves. TFTC.
A lovely walk round the lagoon, so picked up the info needed and then a short walk to GZ and soon spotted the cache. Signed and returned. TFTC
After our misadventure on a previous attempt at this cache, today it was a quick easy find, surprising in more ways than one. We emptied some water out of the cache, but the new log is fine. TFTC
This was our first try at a multicache we enjoyed finding the coordinates but alas it was getting dark and it was our last night of our holiday mini family gathering visiting from Adelaide with norti2 two geo sons staying with my sis (from Sydney) and her lil family with mum and aunt at a holiday house just a short walk from the lagoon so we had to leave with out finding this cache
Thank you for the cache maybe we may return to the area again.
Thank you for the cache maybe we may return to the area again.
Replaced the log book and it is now double bagged so hopefully will stay dry if container gets damp.
We were keen to try this but Easter Sunday seems to bring lots of families out to play! Hanging around crowded playgrounds without kids does make you stand out so we'll save this one for another day
Hooray - perseverance paid off! I can finally log this one as a find. Unfortunately the cache was very wet and log soaked (plastic bag seemed to have a split). After using a paper towel I happened to have in my caching bag of tricks, Team geocacher Mr. T and I sat in the sun on a nearby bench with the log open and dried it off a bit more and double-bagged it (but it may be necessary to replace the log). We dried the swaps also but the gel pacs were too wet to put back. Cache now replaced in an upright position. Took the geocoin (my first) and will help it on its travels. Thanks TMann421 for putting a cache in this very pleasant area.
I searched unsuccessfully for this cache a little while ago. Today team geocacher Mr. T assisted in the search. Still no luck. I wonder if it has gone AWOL? Nevertheless, we enjoyed the walk through the wetlands. A very pleasant area and worth the visit. Thank you.

Enjoyed our walk thru the wildlife refuge, was quite windy but still well worth the stroll. Picked up our first Geo-coin so will find a really special spot to drop it off. TFTC SL

Out for a day of caching with tmann421 today. Enjoyed the walk along to GZ. A little critter has taken up residence in the cache Uplifted two of the TBs. Really enjoyed this multi. TFTC tmann421
Finally success! Didn't manage to find the first two we looked for! Third time lucky.
This was a good cache to do with Netty and our geodog, Biddy. We managed to get the coordinates needed without making any errors. We then enjoyed the nice walk to ground zero where the cache container was soon found.
Quickly solved the puzzle and walked to the GZ. Quickly found and the cache is in good order. TFTC
A bit overgrown, but the co-ordinates worked well ..nearly lost myself in the growth.
Nice boardwalk and wetland area. Thanks.
Nice boardwalk and wetland area. Thanks.
We had a nice time here today around the lagoon.
No problems with the numbers but we needed a few minutes hunting at GZ. The cache wasn't quite where the hint suggested but was only a few metres away.
Thanks for the cache

Thanks for the cache. We had a few problems with the hint, but the cache was found in the end so no harm done.
Well now, an opportunity for a spot of caching on the Kapiti Coast, always a good thing, and caches to find are still showing on our "to do" list. And a great day too, sunny, warm, and no wind. After brunch at the nearby Front Room - highly recommend, we made a start.
A little bit of clever figuring to be done and then off to GZ. Find was straightforward, true to our calculated co-ords and as described. Cache in order, log signed, then safely re-hidden, just as found.
Retrieved the Ninja Turtle (fantastic, another Turtle!) TB.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

Did today with The Wandering Dragons. Love coming to these types of caches! Swapped trinkets. Thanks!
Cache # 553
Cache # 553
Cache # 1,457 - Had done the first part of this over a year ago, but haven't been back to actually track down the cache. Had an early start on the road with Violet Butterfly and geobaby, and had no traffic issues coming up SH1 to Waikanae (unlike going back, where it was nose to tail going north from Waikanae through Paekakariki). Got to the GZ, and then almost run over by cyclists zooming up the other way. Geobaby decided to take a plunge backwards, fortunately into some soft grass, before we finally located the cache. Lovely container, with such a friendly greeting! Took the TB there and dropped in two others. TFTC! Happy to have one more in the Curse of the FTF series done.
Found it with matatuana & paisynsmummy. Bit of a shreek when the container was found! Dropped a TB.
We quickly calculated some coordinates, which took us to a location consistent with the hint, but we were unable to see any sign of the cache, within or out of reach. Mr W.E.K.A. left a quantity of blood to mark the spot, after spearing his head on a piece of cut flax.
Our second 'Curse of the FTF' for today. A nice quick multi and a quick find at GZ. Liked the little surprise. TFTC
Tried to find this earlier in the year and failed. This time we brought a secret weapon and found it very quickly. Put our last search to shame.
Find #1601. Another lovely Sunday to go cycle caching so back to Waikanae to clear up some multis and others that I've missed. Funny that no one has been here since I last logged a DNF but always keen to try again. Confirmed the co-ordinates were taking me to the same place so had a more determined look this time - and after an effort spotted the cache which required a long reach with a small arm! Please to knock that bugger off! SL TFTC
Pretty sure I got the co-ords right and the clue certainly made sense, but nothing to find ....
Just realized I logged it in the log book as 6/1/2013 where it was really 6/2/2013, sorry! TFTC
An interesting multi which took back to close to where I had been earlier in the day. Had the tune of that famous 1964 Song by The Drifters as I approached GZ. TFTC tmann421
I found 'at the point' with no difficulty but could not find cache. I may not have been looking exactly in the right place as I am new at this! There was some evidence of a bit of trampling in the area.
It was bugging me all day so I went back this evening after reading some of the logs - and found it straight away! Put in but didn't take out.
Bit of a funny surprise at the end for the muggles we brought along - gave a favourite point as a result
We still have a few more curses to find - all on the Kapiti Coast, so good to get another one smileyfied.
After an initial hiccup caused by me entering the final co-ords incorrectly and finding the final was over 4000km away, we were soon at GZ. Bugger, a few muggles were there, but luckily they soon departed - we may have scared them off.
Nice to complete this after finding the cache on the other side of the Lagoon. TFTC.

#4431. Enjoyed seeing another part of the lagoon. Be good to get the full set of curses (about 5 left to do). TFTC.
