It is still there . No problems today TFTC

10-Oct-24
Bit of growth coverage

01-Apr-24
Interesting location with great vista. Quiet Easter Monday morning.

12-Mar-24
I made my first approach too directly and found a fence in my way. A retreat to the road and through an open gateway allowed me acess. No trouble with the find. now a quick back as Mr i-gotit will be almost finished his meetings and will be ready for pickup.

23-Oct-23
A popular walking track on Labour Day morning, scores of people battling the strong NE wind. Glad this was a little off the track; TFTC

09-Oct-23
Found with ivss_xx and Gummi_Venus. Easily found after a haphazard route and Gummi taking a small shock.

08-Oct-23
Found with ObnoxiousSpaceCat and ivss_xx, took a longer route to get there as we found a few caches earlier- thankfully just over the one electric fence as I'd already copped a zap to the inner thigh. TFTC!

08-Oct-23
17:57 FITW ObnoxiousSpaceCat, Gummi_VenusNot so short walk for us as we started from Sign of the Lion and got a couple more caches until we finally reached this one. Crossed one electrified fence on our way Almost went to cross another fence but realized we can just walk around to get to GZ.Kia ora! Paldies! Thanks for the cache, Bingley3683!#9940

The hint tricked us a bit but we found the cache. Tftc

14-Jul-23
We came out to enjoy a lovely walk after all the yuck weather. Views are stunning from up here. Our phones took a while to settle so tried quite a few hint places. Then settled frown and we were in the tight spot as counted down to 0 metres. Cache all good and dry, log very happily signed. Thanks for this cache Bingley3683.

Well that took a while to find ( I mean information about Pleurosorus rutifolia), mainly cos I couldn't spell, and when I had, I decided that I wanted one. Obviously you wouldn't uproot a plant without knowing more about it and google says its status is at risk. One of the reasons for that is over collecting by botanists. I might have looked for it if I'd known what it was while we were up there, as it's very pretty. Anyway the cache was easier to spot so we came away happy. Worth a fave for the education. Thanks.

13-May-22
Quick find once we got to the right area. Tftc and the amazing views

12-May-22
Quick find, beautiful day and beautiful views. Thanks!

07-May-22
Another bewdy Canty day to get some in. This one is quite the walk up from Halswell Quarry carpark just quietly! Cheers!

20-Nov-21
Just about missed it, but found just as we were leaving

29-Sep-21
Found on a short walk up the hill. Will have to do the rest of the walk sometime

21-Jul-21
No luck today

21-Jul-21
Not sure how we missed it but now it is found!

06-Jun-21
Great views of the city here. Escaped the rain while it swirled around the hills. Great coordinates, that took us right to the spot. Dodgy coverage here, but if you get to GZ look in the obvious place! TFTC.

10-Feb-21
This one is definitely there, in the right place, dry and plenty of room for logs. Whoever fails to find it must have painted-on eyes.

No luck here. I usually have some comments but my notebook has nothing. And I can't remember it, so no idea if I think it is missing or if we are simply not up to it.

26-Aug-19
Few muggles around so had to stop * admire the view - TFTC

26-Feb-19
Very straightforward. Many thanks.

21-Feb-19
Nice day for a walk and this was a track I wasn't really aware of, funnily enough Thomas Kennedy is one of my direct ancestors. Quick easy find and sign. Thanks for placing and maintaining the cache.

17-Feb-19
Loved the view up here! Thanks!

13-Jan-19
Thank you. Grabbed while on walk up to summit Rd.

#3,336: Viewtiful Smiley!
I came out to this one after climbing the Crocodile on a beautiful day. This was my goal, as it was the turn-around point for my ride. Whew! I forgot how tough the climb can be. I'll do better next time!
SL/TFTC!!

15-Sep-18
The weather forecast was amazing for the weekend, so I decided to explore around the quarry, and up the hill. Great day for it! TFTC!!

07-Sep-18
A nice quick find. The only muggles were the 4 legged fluffy white ones. Thanks for the hide. #3174

23-May-18
This cache was cooled to about 6 degrees C. I noticed that was also the external air temperature. I doubt this is mere coincidence, but have not put all the pieces together yet into one coherent hypothesis.

03-Apr-18
450 days since last find logged... but only 181 days since last log in the book! I actually had a brief look for this on the way up but the GPS wouldn't count down properly and the number of muggles (bovine and other) were putting me off.
On the way down there weren't so many mooing muggles so I could stop and look. Then it was obvious.

Found this nice cache while walking the dogs down the hill.
(Forgot to log, sorry)
TFTC!

27-Sep-17
Dropped off trackable - I think!

27-Sep-17
This one was out of action due to the fires earlier this year, either it got burned or the fencers removed it when they rebuilt the fences here. Now replaced with a similar small Sistema container with logbook, pencil and room for 1 or 2 small swaps.

08-Jan-17
We had been to Halswell Quarry last week to find the last remaining unfound caches there, but didn't get time to carry on to the caches further up the hill.
After a lazy morning, it was time to get into gear and get out and about, so a walk up Kennedys Bush track was the plan, first picking up a few caches on the drive up the hill.
Apparently I have walked up the track before to find Hoon Hay Arboretum, but as that was seven years ago, I have very little recollection of the walk and anyway, the area has changed a bit since then. Great views as promised. TFTC.

08-Jan-17
#13666. Climbing was hard work in the hot sun, but it didn't take too long to get up to GZ. Great views and a quick find. TFTC.

02-Jan-17

An absolutely gorgeous day weatherwise, in the 30's!! - and I had some errands to run in town, so decided while I was at it to head over towards the port hills for a little bit o a walk with the baby & find some caches - I'm actually pretty close to actually achieving the goal I set myself out when beginning maternity leave of being able to fit all my unfound caches within 80KM of home into one pocket query - It was a bit ambitious, but I was 100 short at the point baby was born, and now when she's 12 weeks old, I'm only 25 caches short. (People keep publishing which makes it harder too - argh!! )

It was a lovely walk - though not taking water with was a massive mistake. Baby is also getting heavier to wear on me by the day when walking like this too!!

This was cache number one, and a very nice & easy one too.

TFTC!! Smile

16-Oct-16
A beautiful spring day so we came out for a walk. Amazing views from up here. TFTC.

12-Sep-16
Cache in great shape. Nice warm day. Lambs bleating. All good. Thanks to all cache owners for taking the time to place and maintain your caches. BJ25.

22-May-16
Couldn't resist coming out for this cache on must be the coldest day of the year, so far. Hard to believe it has had so little activity.....the climb was well worth the effort as view amazing. Happy to take Wanda on further travels too. Thanks for the cache

17-Mar-16
Can't believe theres been no-one here for 4 months! And only 90 finds in 5 years....Maybe the hill puts people off - theres a great view! Log is all dry and good, so I left a Warthog trackable to entice more people up here.....

24-Nov-15
Tftc. Quick find with the help of 30 Lincoln Cubs.

18-Nov-15

17-May-15
A good excuse for a stroll up the track after a wet Saturday. Found the cache nice & dry, signed log & took TC. TFTC

11-May-15
Called in from Australia to check on this. Log saturated so replaced it and container and left a geocoin - please log it!! Cows looked on.....

04-May-15
Log book saturated - left it to dry as I went to get KB1 - but not much difference. Great views up here and the inversion layer was very marked.

29-Apr-15
Will be visiting this one in the next 2 weeks to do maintenance. Any finders till then can leave a note in the container...

05-Apr-15
Very windy up here today.

04-Apr-15
Today we got out of the house and went for a wander as a family with some friends.
To help the little ones along the way we grabbed a few caches. Our Little man spotted this one first, but alas this cache was a sodden mess. was very hard to sign the log book - probably needs some TLC from CO.

11-Mar-15
I had grand plans of grabbing a couple of caches up this track during lunch time, but when i arrived, I realised that the terrain was steeper than I was expecting. A short sharp walk up to this cache was in order. Realised I left my pen in the car (What sort of geocacher am I) thankfully there was a pencil, but the logbook was wet. I did manage to write my name there, although it was quite light. Thanks for the cache. Awesome views today what.

17-Mar-13
Found while discovering a new walk. A very lovely area. TFTC

11-Jan-13
A nice stroll up the hill to get this cache and JMG's blue racer TB. I'd come prepared for a longer walk, so took the advice off the cache page and also went on up to the Hoon Hay Arboretum. Didn't see any Pleurosorus Rutifolius here but there was some higher up the hill with the next cache. Thanks for encouraging me to go for a nice evening walk in some great terrain.

10-Jan-13
Quick wander up the hill and had cache in hand in no time. Dropped TB and uplifted one already there.

Thanks

27-Dec-12
Called in with Gypsyroselee and left a trackable. Then GRlee fell over and sprained her ankle coming down to the road - watch the gravel on the bitumen at the bottom!

27-Dec-12
Found cache fairly quickly and then just a quickly broke my leg at end of the downward slope. Bummer! It's going to make looking for more caches interesting, on crutches

23-Dec-12
Found the cache, but not the Pleurosorus.
Thanks and Cheers from Grandalf

02-Nov-12
Found with Varuna, post Mega 2012. Ciotach stayed in the car, not fancying yet another hill climb ;-(

02-Nov-12
Accompanied with Sp00k & Ciotach for the day of sightseering and cache-hunting. Cache was quickly found by Sp00k. Thanks for the cache.

01-Nov-12
A quick find at lunchtime after exercising my hill legs on the short walk up. Didn't see the plant that is the cache name.
A little worried that this cache is some 40m off the track through this private land that the public are asked to keep to, and some evidence of more fencing happening at GZ.
The four legged locals were unconcerned at my presence, if they hadn't been I wouldn't have gone so far off the path.
Thanks

Easy cache. Exactly where coordinates it.
