As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. I noticed that this cache has been in need of owner attention for a period of time well in excess of the period of "a few weeks" as contemplated by the cache guidelines published on Geocaching.com. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other caches from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache, or archive it (using the archive listing link in the upper right) so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location.
If you plan on repairing this cache, please log a note to the cache (not email) within the next 30 days so I don't archive the listing for non-communication.

Made it to Clark's Beach. We picked up a local friend and introduced her to geocaching. She was so excited about going treasure hunting that she was jumping around. What a weirdo! TFTC
Today we saw many wonderful places and we also found many good cache.

As stated by others, the lid is missing. The tattered shreds of remnants of the old log sheet dropped out and were taken away by the wind - should become compost within a day or two. Found a new scrap of paper and signed. Returned the cache with the open end facing down, but I'm sure insect life will enjoy getting back into the cache.
Found quite easily while on a holiday in NZ.
There is no lid and snails have eaten the log book.

Yea this one does need replacing. Log book has been half eaten by insects. No lid.
Yuck! Found after hard search, but as a previous logger said, lid is missing and the container full of yuck. Needs maintenance.
Almost didn't find it. Cache was on the ground, lid missing, bugs inside and the log crumbly. Choco took a photo. Replaced cache where it should be.
As mentioned in our logs and shown in the photo attached to my log, the lid is missing and the container was full of yucky stuff. Cheers, Choco.
New Zealand 2103 trip for the Auckland Mega at Albany. Day 3. After a short walk over the paddock I was unable to locate a cache in the bush GZ was pointing too. Thanks.

Due to the recent rain the log is very wet and cache is also missing lid so cockcroches have taken up residence, but an easy find, TFTC.
My GPSr pointed to the only possible place the cache could be hidden but I was having no luck finding it. Employed a more methodical search and eventually spied the hide. Thanks!
#1280, No earwigs but there was a big weta inside the logsheet bag, I though it was a plastic one until I reached in to pull it out and it made a noise and jumped out at me. TFTC
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
We were down this way to spend the evening at Spookers and decided to come down a couple of hours early to pick up the caches around Clarks Beach first. After a brief search we located the cache, it's still home to many earwigs! We shook them out, but suspect they'll be back. Thanks for the cache!

tftc! nasty sticky And spiky tree! found cache was full of ear wigs... :p needs a new lid to stop this!!
Cache was full of earwigs it may need a new lid. Cache took awhile to find but it was found it in the end. TFTC
A quick find after the GPS settled down. The cache container has no lid and the log is full. The cache container now appears to be the home of many earwigs, TFTC
great cache I couldn't find it even with some help from my friend aucklandman [8)]
Another near-miss. Got the right angle on it in the end.
Thank you for placing this cache.

4.15pm. We often have difficulty with caches like this looked but no, Mrs JF had it in no time. As has been observed before the lid is missing but the log is still surviving and quite dry.

Yes, it has lost its lid.
But it was being well guarded by a family of earwigs.

Easy find. Good co-ords. Log was nice and dry. A surprise as the tin has lost its lid. Seems it will be ok. Keeping to waste water theme - mrs j tried out nearby toilets. A different experience - very throne like. Cleaner than expected and with nobody around door left open giving further royal theme to visit. NINO TFTC
Came to Clarks Beach for a bit of caching in a different area today. Can see it would have hard to get to GZ a few weeks back with all the rain. Dried out enough to get out there today. Found a few white balls on our way as well. Lid is missing off cache, but all still in good order. SL. TFTC.
Nice find...golf ball lodged in the tree led me to the real prize. No lid but seems to be ok if u place the opening facing down. TFTC
Went for a walk from the camping ground and managed to find this cache easily. Only ones around were at the skate bowl on the other side of the park. No golfers either. Must say not my favourite kind of tree though!!! Thanks very much Kiwifamily.
Nice one. Ground is deceptively swampy, even in March. Had to chase the bugs out of the container. Didn't have a lid so they moved in!
No one around this morning while searching for the cache. Thanks for the placement.
Good find while walking dog. Lid still missing from container, so replaced with the open end down.
Really had to trust my GPS on this one more than my insticts which were suggesting other locations. So I went to where I was 1m off, looked and saw what I thought was the cache, but it was full of insects as the lid was missing, however the cache was dry inside.
Quick find on a perfect caching day. We are probably not as green as we could be but never the less we are better than most others TFTC.
Nearly got hit when a ball dropped out of the sky... Within a meter of where I was standing.
GPS was a little wayward, until I turned it off and on and took another reading.
Nice place for a cache, thanks.

Found a golfer whose ball was avoiding him, trusted GPS to find this one, found with lid missing, log book was dry [8]
Lovely reserve next to the golf course . Had to be careful no golfers watching me. Cache well placed as some trees on the edge of the park can be used to obscure their view of cache site!

Have avoided this cache for long enough! Out for a detour on the way home to pick up a few.

Im not sure I understood the hint, or even if I was supposed to understand it. But the find was super-quick as it could only be in 1 spot, so no worries. Thanks.
This is my second consecutive day in the Franklin area visiting caches.
A quick walk acroos the park and then I was a bit surly. Then it dawned what the hint meant and bingo there it was.
Cheers for the cache.

Kiwifamily is alot of fun! Interesting cache and took a while to find. A friend found it first and I'm not sure if I would have gotten it...
7046 A very squishy walk to GZ… it’s a shame that raw sewage is still allowed to be discharged into our harbours untreated. Quickly raced back to the car, to avoid the approaching heavy showers. TFTC.
Couldn't make the FTF last weekend as we were busy so thought we'd try and find it today. Had a bit of trouble locating the cache. Walked around a few times before finally locating it. Excellent hide! TFTC!
On my way back to the airport from Wiauku and beyond, I just had to make a slight detour in this direction and pick up a few more caches. Approached GZ with some anxiety as I usually find this sort of cache hard to spot but it wasn't quite as I expected which was a bit of a relief actually. TFTC, Biggles.
Couldnt go for this one when it was published last night so just had to have a look this morning. Sad that the treated stuff is going back into the harbour so hope its well treated to make it o.k.
Got to GZ, checked out the sign????????????. Just had to believe in the GPSr this time. Took me a while but got it in the end.
FTF number 13 for us.
An excellent hide..........good on you Kiwifamily. Earned a favorite point from us.
