This geocacher reported that there is a problem with this cache. The log book is saturated / water damaged and needs to be replaced.
On a road trip to Phillip Island for a couple of weeks, picking up random caches as we travel around seeing the sites. We were going to walk along the Bass Coast Rail Trail today but the weather was against up so we ended up at the Wonthaggi Plaza in a coffee shop having a late lunch. We still needed our cache for the day so made our way here. We walked to GZ in misty rain and began our search. It was Mrs Pooky who made the find in a place Mr Pooky had already looked as the rain got heavier and heavier again. Unfortunately we were not able to sign the log book as it is saturated / water damaged and needs to be replaced. TFTC. We will have to return to the area in better weather to explore further.
Tricky find thank you.
Was a bit scared at first to put hands under the logs and in long grass.

Well today I found myself in the Kilcunda-Wonthaggi area with a day to kill. In my travels today I had much time to contemplate where I should be out caching in this area or not, given that over half the cache have been disabled due to COVID19. I could come up with 10 good reason why to and why not, and it could be debated at length without conclusion but at the end of the day I figured that the game pieces are in place still, I have breached no rules or laws, I probably couldn’t be more isolated (didn’t see a sole), many other are caching, I have sanitised my hands so much the skin is cracking and the reviewers are publishing new cache. Certainly, I would consider the risks are higher simply going to the supermarket, and I could log these cache in a few months, but I choose to do it now. Apologies if I have upset the CO’s by breaching their intentions.
The day for me started in Kilcunda, picked up a couple of loose traditional cache and then parked near the cemetery. I preceded to hike my way along the beach collecting the Killer view series and Cache Favourite challenges. Certainly the views were killers! The beach was stunning, just one set of footsteps as far as you could see from where I had come and a beautiful clear beach ahead of me. The beach and waves were stunning, and the small patches of rock formation just a wealth of interest, however there was a bite in the air that on a few occasions gave my head the pain like when you eat ice cream too fast! I continued down all the way to Powlett River mouth and had to do a little bush bashing near the river as I made my way past the beach house, fairy garden, bird in hand, the ballgame and so many other great inventions. Eventually I rejoined the rail trail back to the car after 11km or sand, dunes and trails, and tucked into a cup of tea, some sausage rolls and fruit.
My second adventure was around the Wonthaggi Heathland Nature reserve, I spied another circuit and feared there maybe more sand dunes! My legs were still feeling if from earlier. A I headed from the carpark towards the Target range knowing I was going to have to back track straight after. Then headed back towards the beach and saw an OWL! And continued on towards the beach for more isolation, more amazing views, more sand dunes, ammo cans (who doesn’t love a good ammo can?), and a little cut back through to the car. Another 10km covered, time for another cuppa, muffin bar and some nuts a raisens.
The weather started to turn now so I thought I best start making my way back home and collected a few drive byes along the way. Have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the day, the fresh air and kms certainly was great for my body and headspace and look forward to getting back to find some more. There will definitely be a few Fav points going out.
Thanks for the cache Gonefishen07, Log was soaking wet, unfotunaley I had no spare logs with me to replace it

Set off for a walking today around the turbines as I had the day off and the weather was sunshine and showers. My focus was the Baxter Pirate series. With the carnival underway, like others the way to get points is to target favourite caches.
Spent a short time here. Lots of grass. Needed to move on.

#823 - Day three of my trip down the coast for some caching fun! Today I decided to attempt some hides from a variety of cachers and not Gonefishen07 exclusively.
After finishing my first walk of the day and collecting 17 finds, it was time to go on my second walk. After parking at the huge wind turbines at the end of Campbell street, I set off and was able to find 21 of the 26 caches that I set off to find.
Thank you to the CO's for the hides, I had a very fun walk with what was once again a wide variety of caches and hides as the sun went down. Tftc

Quick stroll before we go to 1 of 2 events thought we might do some site seeing with Jnr Bear and Mrs Bear as we haven't looked around this area before what better way than caching thanks for the hides
TFTC. Decided to attempt caches in the Wetlands around Wonthaggi today. Lots of walking on a cloudy day. Nice easy find for the first of the day.
Monitoring our Scouts on the last day of their 30km hike. A nice easy find. Thanks.
Took the opportunity to grab this one on the way to the Baxters Treasure series. Some of our party were on bikes and some in cars so the cyclists went ahead and we found this cache.
Didn't take long to locate, however it is very well hidden despite all the trampled geo-trails through the long grass.
Too many kids with us today to worry with swaps here. Ends up creating arguments when more than one child wants the same thing! Signed log. TFTC

Our second day, on the rail trail. The day started quite cool but ended up nice and warm by lunch time.
This is a great part of the trail, very enjoyable for bike riders.
Thanks to all the owners, for the effort that you put into the hides.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Gonefishen07, for us and others to find.

Had a lovely walk with the family today and Bek found this although I had already found it. We dropped off tb that we had found the other day. It is heading back to New Zealand and at least this is a tiny bit closer although it still has a long way to go.
Found @ 7:18pm, find # 3800.
Tonight biggles1024 and I headed for Wonthaggi to find a few caches, as this area has many for us to find.
This was the start of our 7.5 km walk on a loop around and back to the car.
We headed along the trail to GZ where once again Mark was able to make a quick find, the log was signed and we headed on to the next one.

Find #1618
Tonight Stemicmitsar and I headed to Wonthaggi for a change of scenery. This cache was at the beginning of a loop that we had been wanting for do for some time. We'd already found caches at the other end and to the NE so it was time to find the 'middle'. A quick find here and no snakes which is always a bonus.

Enjoying a walk around the area today, this was a quick find before we made our way out of the Wetlands. No troubles locating the hide and it is in good condition. The sun was starting to sink lower in the sky by now, and I was hoping to make it back to the car before dark.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for the cache.

We were on a weekend visiting our grandson for his 3rd birthday and then followed by a geo event in Wonthaggi; Following the event, we headed off to grab a few of the multitude of Wonthaggi caches and this was one. The grass was wet, our feet were cold, so we were glad the co-ords were good and it was not too difficult. Thanks for this one Gonefishen07. Nice spot

We enjoyed the walk along this trail - tree cover provided dappled shade on a beautiful warm day. We saw no one else on the trail. The different hides certainly kept us entertained. This was one we were able to find. Thanks to Gonefishen07 for placing this cache.
Melbourne parties Friday noon and returned Tuesday morning in Melbourne. I came here to make different trail of caches in the area. It was intense few days with my bike but very nice! I could find caches with superb camouflage, very good ideas from the cachers. This log will be the same for all caches that I made (sorry) But I want to congratulate in particular:
Nut bear & BorisB & Natasha for "Bay Trail" and "Red Hill Express" (Beautiful cover!)
The Three Amigos Geo for "The Pathway"
Gonefishen07 for the great "Rail Trail"
As well as other geocacher who I discovered several caches during these few days.
Thank you very much
Greetings from France

Had a great day caching and enjoying the outdoors as usual. Many kilometres put on the geoPatrol to add to the numbers. Now it is a waiting game for the next opportunity to get out again.

With the weather forecast promising us quite a nasty hot day we were out and about by bike fairly early in search of smilie faces. This was our first encounter with the native wildlife - there was a beautiful stumpy tail guarding the cache site, we got a bigger fright than he did!
TNLN .. . . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt Gonefishen07.

After the springtime event we headed out with Team Crackers to find more caches around Wonthaggi. We parked outside the gate behind another car, walked to gz expecting to see someone but gz was empty the cache was found and logged.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for the cache,

After having a great time Gonefishen07s Springtime event with again headed off with the Coffee's grabbing a few caches before heading for home. We pulled up here to find another car parked nearby and assumed that it would be another geo cacher but we saw no one on our way to gz nor while we were adding our name to the log. We often comment on how there is always one out of the wind turbine group that is stopped but today even with a good wind none of the turbines were operating.
Thanks Gonefishen07 for the cache.

This morning we decided to focus on caches in the immediate vicinity of Wonthaggi and visiting them gave us a far better appreciation of the area. It took a little driving around before we found a suitable location to leave the car at walk to the cache. After a short walk, we were abley to make a quick find. The cache and it's contents were in good condition. Then we headed off to Baxter's Wetlands No 2. TFTC Gonefishen07 and for giving us a reason to visit this part of Wonthaggi.
