A big thanks to GreenGeckos1 for getting this one back in order Big Grin

11-Nov-23
After attending another fabulous House Mountain Event. Our intrepid trio set off to the South side to conquer this themed series. After I managed the solving mistress to do her thing we came up with a number of puzzle solutions out this way. With permission GG1 replaced this missing cache

11-Nov-23
I was out today with GreenGecko1 and Muggle65 caching . First up was a event, then we headed Southside for some kayaking. After that we finish the day with a stroll in the park. Couple of the caches today I needed for a challenge. Thank you CO forgiven us permission to replace this cache.Ghost Gums thank you for placing and maintaining this cache for geocaching community enjoyment.

11-Nov-23
After a fun event this morning, with a great group of cachers, Muggle65, Brislions and l headed to the Darkside to attack a couple of caches. With permission kindly granted by the CO, we replaced this one today. Thank you GhostGums for the fun this morning

13-Oct-23
Had a good search but nothing sighted here

23-Jul-23
Cache has vanished from its hiding spot

14-Dec-22
Found it completely by accident. Logbook wet.

23-Nov-22
Ok will replace container this weekend. So should be back on after that

06-Sep-22
Will investigate

13-Jul-22
It’s in pretty bad condition, the rain has got into it and the log book was outside of its plastic bag and unreadable. I also found it well away from its GPS location - I wasn’t looking for it, I came across it while out walking in Chelsea Road park.

11-Jul-22
PS it wasn’t found at its logged gps location, I found it randomly elsewhere.

10-Jul-22
Found this while walking my dog this morning in bushland, but it’s in bad condition, the lid wasn’t put back on properly and with the recent rain everything is wet. The log book is also wet as it wasn’t put back in the plastic bag . I did my best to tidy it all up but needs a replacement. The bright side is I wasn’t a member before I found this, and now I have an interesting new hobby!

Found it
Nice walk in bush love it

Today, the plan was to kayak Lota Creek and complete a few of the watercraft geocaches in that area. A group was formed, and in true flotilla style, we made our way to Lota Creek's event, and then continued our paddle around the island back to Thorneside's boat ramp. Following the paddle, we took a short drive to a nearby technical tree climb, where [GC6236R Unending - Stargate SG1](https://coord.info/GC6236R) was conquered.
The group then parted ways, and I spent the remainder of the day walking a few of the nearby reserves and scrublands in Ransome, such as Ransome Nature Reserve, and a number of Queensland's older geocaches were located.

I had some help with this puzzle, and wow, upon being stuck at a particular stage, I actually think this puzzle is rather clever!
After being in the area today, I wasn't too far from GZ, and so I made the detour past, where I found the cache reasonably quickly. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks GhostGums for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. A Favourite Point from me for the clever puzzle!

17-Feb-22
This was a great puzzle. Very clever indeed.
Today I was out for a day of caching with KerriMG. We discovered this area of lovely bushland and unfound caches including 2 solved puzzles so we had to go visiting. At GZ it was a quick find

The stars aligned today for nikid1 & I to have a caching day together & a plan was hatched for a visit to the southside to target some particular caches & then whatever else we liked the look of. The bright side of life for me today was that nikid1 had done all the hard work in solving this puzzle & I just came along for the ride. Didn't take us long to make the find at GZ.
Thanks for the puzzle & cache GhostGums

Recently I’ve been housebound with 5 puppies… that meant I had a lot of time to work on those puzzles that have sat unsolved for sooooo long…

So with some at times gentle, and sometimes forceful assistance I’ve managed to solve a couple of those puzzles…and this is one of them…

Do what? To get what? And then what? Ohhh… clever….

Last time I attempted to enter this area I hadn’t solved this puzzle, and I walked right past the cache before being turned back by flooded paths…

At GZ I inspected the obvious before widening my search area to locate the container…

Tftc… dropping a fave point for the puzzle…

It's so nice out and about by self. Managed to finally get some coords for this cache. Signed the log and returned to where I found it. Thanks Ghost Gums. All good with this cache and puzzle.

Out to pickup a target cache today for a challenge and picking up others on our way while in the area.

This park is still a little wet underfoot but the cache seems to be dry

Grabbed this cache on my way to work, it was only a very slight detour!
The puzzle has had me puzzling for a long while. I really like this movie, it’s my fav MP film, and Bright Side of Life was one of the first songs I learnt on the ukulele!
I’ve been whistling the tune all day..
blessed are the cheese makers, and COs of fun caches

I had solved this puzzle some time ago. Time to find it! Out with stortigirls finding a few caches. I parked the geomobile and we walked along the track to GZ. There, the cache was quickly located and the log signed. TFTC

17-Mar-19
I was out caching with Selva Girls today, targeting a few puzzles, and a few attributes as well as clearing another area on our maps. Selva Girls had solved this one, so we parked up near gz and made the pleasant walk to find the cache. A quick find and sign here and off to the next one. Tftc GhostGums Big Grin

I remember the hullabaloo when this cache was published. I also remember it was driving Loki bonkers. I even made some suggestions to Loki.. that ended up being absolute bupkis.

Spin on 8 years or so.. and I still didn't have it solved. I could just lie and say "oh yeah.. totes solved it myself".. but Mr GhostGums would know that would be a big pile of something that fell from the southern end of a northbound horse Razz

I was happy to accompany Pprime to GZ today. Pprime had started to go very bush and my caching instinct told me we were probably much closer. Sure enough the cache was soon found safe and sound nearby. We signed the log and re-hid the cache.

A clever little puzzle and a good hide in a nice area. TFTC GhostGums Smile

17-Feb-19
Knowing I would be 'in the area' today, I took a look at the nearby puzzles. Shall admit to a nudge in the right direction, but a nicely constructed puzzle that gives me some ideas. I can see how others have found this in the past as Fangsoki and I made very short work of the locationing. A bright moment in this life!
Thanks GhostGums for entertaining me at this location.
Cool *{Overall find #6401}* Cool

A morning out was spent on the bayside seeking post-knee-surgery-friendly caches and trying to avoid public holidaying muggles.

Lucky for me the nice smooth path led me straight to this one, minimal bush bashing required!

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache **GhostGums**.

Out for a pedal on Evie today. I parked near the Schnitzel House and set off for a ride and hunt.

This one has only been added to the solved pile recently with a hint from another finder. No amount of Monty Python watching seemed to assist in the solving, but it did help with looking on the bright side. Big Grin

I would have walked by this cache so many times when I used to live on this side of the world.

No trouble wiht the find at GZ thanks.

"Found it" on 7th October 2015.

Subtle hints, swift kicks and endless Monty Python researches with the assistance of Aussie Pete solved the puzzle of "The Bright Side of Life".

Walking towards GZ a woman passed by happily singing at the top of her voice. She was most definitely looking on "The Bright Side of Life".

Another notation to the log sheet. Inspected the cache, all's good.

Great weather for Geocachers today and we have a few hours this morning, so let's do it!

We have so long a time since we solved this puzzle and its been sitting waiting to be turned yellow. Today, it becomes so.

Nice quick find too.

Log signed and replaced. Found at 11.25am on 30th August 2017. TFTC, GhostGums.

Today I planned to visit the Bayside to find these puzzles I had solved (or had help with) and up my D/T rating.
This puzzle certainly had me scratching my head many times and putting it away for another session of puzzle solving. I thought I had the co-ords but the CO said no, its simpler than that.
Another look at it and still none the wiser. At a recent event by CO I quizzed him again on this one and a hint was given but still not sure what to make of it. Conferring with another cacher at the event, we worked on it until numbers appeared but still couldn't figure out how to apply them.
A message was sent to me yesterday which made a light bulb moment as all was understood.
Today, it was a walk in the park to find this cache.
As I was signing the logbook, a cyclist rode past and looked at me probably wondering what I was doing squatting behind a tree...
Returned cache to its hide and walked away, happily singing "The Bright Side of LIfe".
Thanks Ghostgums for an interesting puzzle and cache.

Eventually solved this one. Got a clue from CO but I couldn't apply it, another clue and didn't know what to do with the result so pondered it on and off until a BRIGHT idea flashed by and I got the OK to search. Cache in good condition. Signed log and replaced cache as found. TFTC

Out with Brother Colin again, this time chasing caches in the Wynnum area.

I think T-Tech gave me a hand in solving this one, but it was so long ago I don't remember how! Good thing I saved the numbers Wink Another short walk to grab the find. TFTC, GhostGums.

My usual caching buddies were scared of the forecast rain and our caching adventure today (which involved some high terrain, ropes and climbing gear) was postponed. So, this afternoon, I took a ride on the trusty mountain bike around the Wynnum and Manly water front collecting caches.

This nasty puzzle had dogged me ever since I first got interested in puzzle solving and cryptology. It had dug itself a nice big hole in my "fighting me all the way" pile, oured itself a cup of tea and made itself at home. I have never made any real progress, but with these sort of puzzles, I am well aware that you can be very close, make a small change in your workings and the answer will magically appear.

At a recent event, I was listening to Team Tinda relay an almost incredulous story of how he happened upon some coordinates for this one. Some would say it was a miracle from above, others might reckon it was discontinuity in the virtual ether. I was dumbfounded. It just goes to show that if you are observant of your surroundings and make use of all the resources available to you, you never know when a puzzle solution might just fall out of the virtual sky.

Being a smart c(r)ookie, I realised pretty quickly that I had the resources to recreate Tinda's good fortune. A little bit of detective work - others would call it stalking - and I had a solution. Today, I took my virtual jet ski (known as a mountain bike) on a ride and collected this cache.

Kudos to my jetski instructor, Team Tinda, for being observant enough to gather a solution for this one. Still amazed. Many thanks, Ghost Gums

Pete

This cache has been a nemesis of mine literally for years. My reading of logs suggested a tool which could be handy, but it's not one with which I'm very adept, so I'd never got far.
Today some coords finally appeared before my eyes in a way I would call close to miraculous. I was so stoked I headed straight over and made a rapid grab from a spot which gave me a bit of laugh because... Yes, I've been very close to here before!
TFTC where all is in great condition. A big one put to bed at last.

21-May-16
I have been trying to solve this puzzle for months and getting nowhere.

Eventually, I resorted to contacting the CO to ask for a hint but I didn't get a reply.

I then reached out to a previous finder and he was very helpful but careful not to give too much away. Even then, I still struggled to come up with a solution. But a couple of things that he said churned away in the back of my mind and a couple of things clicked and I figured out where I needed to go.

This morning after the kids' Saturday morning sporting rituals, the geogirls and I headed out to see it we could find it. We parked nearby and wandered in and had the cache in hand fairly quickly.

It is in excellent condition and we signed a nice, clean, dry log before making a swap and heading home.

So this adventure started a few weeks ago with Wombles and Co talking about doing her 25differentD/T challenge. 1/2 of Scattsmadhouse asked to come along for the day as well to pick up some caches. So this morning (early) we started our day, along with mumma (barbbowman).

Happy to say we completed the 25D/T's and were home just as the sun was starting to go down.

a nice quick find. was glad to finally pick this one up as it has been sitting in the solved pile for quite some time TFTC

09-Aug-15
Bubba89 had been awesome enough to work out a list for me for the 25 D/T challenge so we planned a whole day out with an early start! The 4 of us (Bubba, Barbbowman, Ree of Scattsmadhouse and I) met up before the sun was up and set off for the day.

A nice place to walk in here, we stayed on the paths, found some caches, saw some people kayaking in the creek and had some laughs.

09-Aug-15
A few weeks ago some fellow cacher friends were talking about doing 25 caches in a day to meet the needs for a challenge for one of the group. Finding an area with 25 unfound caches seemed like the biggest task but the list was soon compiled and the plan was in motion. Today we (myself, barbbowman, bubba and wombles and co) were all up and on the road before dawn , eager to find caches and help wombles get her 25 caches.

a nice quick find whilst enjoying the surroundings. TFTC

Many moons ago, over 3 years I see now, Lokipagan and Baktrak teamed up to to attack 2 tenacious Ghostgum's puzzles. We grabbed the FTF on the other one but it's taken that long for this half of that ad-hoc team to physically visit this one. Curiously, the last visitor, Yurt, is almost a neighbour, 800km away. Small world! So Mrs B and I took a wander through a nice, clean piece of bush this morning, and looked on the right side to find The Bright Side. We gave it a bit of a bit of dusting off but all's well with it.
Thanks Ghostgums.

A local (Sydney) puzzler pointed out a couple of tricky mystery caches in the Brisbane area to me a couple of years ago. I was travelling to Brisbane regularly in those days and I thought I'd work on these and find them in time. Well as it turned out I solved the other one fairly quickly but then stopped travelling to Brisbane so never came back to this puzzle. Only yesterday I remembered this cache as I was coming to BNE for the day and could fit in a couple of caches. With a slight hint from the puzzler I was finally looking at coords (after a false start) last night. Today I made my way to the area and headed into the bush to make the find. Somewhere I've never been before. A nice puzzle, not seen one like it. Signed and replaced with extra camo.

Thanks!

Today was an interesting day because we are to attend the Northside Puzzle Group meeting on the southside!!! (Thanks Monty Python!). We began the day by locating finding the southside puzzle caches we had solved many months before our move to Tasmania. This is an area we had not previously visited to happy to pick up a few caches - we "always look on the bright side of life" (thanks again to Monty Python). Pleasant walk through the area.

Having made good time with the other caches earlier in the day, we set about solving some others over the lunch time break.

With the answers worked out we set off for this one. With a member of the group having already found this one, we followed him, but as he was on the phone I figured he missed the turn off. He turned back and asked what we were doing. I said the GPS is pointing over here.

Apparently, I missed calculated. Would you believe that maths was one of my better subjects at school. With the co-ords corrected we were soon back on the right track and soon had the cache in hand.

Log signed, cache replaced. TFTH

A meeting of cachers to solve a few of the local cachers and a previous finder showed us the ways of a devious mind to do this and that to the puzzle to magically come up with the answer. I'm sure there are many similar methods and I'm not sure if I have the technical knowledge to put them into effect.

The stroll to the cache was pleasant and after a short distraction as someone had put down the wrong numbers, We then had to stand around while we chatted to a passing muggle and waited for him to disappear around a corner before the cache could be extracted.

Certainly a devious puzzle Ghostgums which I'm sure I would never have solved on my own.

Find #1519 we thrashed this around so many times and nothing came out so with help from a fellow cacher we threw it around some more and up came some answers which were right TFTC

It would have to be months since I first took a look at this puzzle, and could not come up with anything that really helped me get some numbers from the letters. Over the months I looked off and on again and again, coming up with absolutely nothing at all.

I had started looking at the puzzle again, and still was coming up empty handed until facebook conversation were I mentioned the puzzle and a tool was suggested and I put some connection together.

Still I was coming up empty handed though with a lot of letters and no numbers. Finally I tried one way of looking at things and applied things just right and had my first reward. But of course as others have mentioned this was still a no from the checker.

Reading through some logs though soon gave me the key piece of information I needed to get the right answer and a "Good to go" from the checker.

So all that solved, what better idea then to get in the car and head straight out to get the smilie. So with LHE Duo along for the walk we followed the GPSr in and soon enough found the right spot, a nice easy find in the end for all the work it took on the puzzle Smile

TFTC GhostGums, now to go and rethink some other puzzles and see if I can work anything with them Smile

As I said in my previous note this one has been driving me a lot crazy lol!
After getting a nudge in the the right direction we made our way to the actual GZ only to have a quick find can't believe that this one has not been found in over a year... Cache is in great condition Very Happy

Ok I have been pulling my hair out about this one! And today FINALLY I got the solution to register congratulation!!!
Will ensure I get back to Brisbane before the sun goes down tomorrow.
Thanks heaps for the nudge I would not have managed this one without it... GhostGums you may need to up the difficulty on this one.

Had this one solved not long after it was published but today is the first time we have been caching in the area. Decided to make this one a smiley and keep up our puzzle cache stats in the process. Took Modelbear a little time of looking at the puzzle from different perspectives but once the right path was found it was a quick solve Smile. Quick walk to GZ and the cache was in hand. Container still in good and dry state. TFTC and the puzzle Mr Ghostgums.

Well, well, well....lookie here! A found log on The Bright Side of Life by svn07.

As so often happens, the planets aligned, opportunities arose and here we are. Not the first and certainly won't be the last to get a bit of a nudge with this one. Also, not the first retrofitted solution in my repertoire but I can prove I did solve it if required. Proof enough should be that the "x"s on the checker went up by one before the ticks did! Surprised

Nice to accompany totalube on his 200th Puzzle find....well done! (There's a giveaway on the accomplice Wink )

Thanks for the cache Ghost Gums and for keeping me out of trouble this afternoon Big Grin. Cheers, svn07

25-Apr-12
I must admit I had a "little" help with this puzzle, but once solved I did kick myself a little bit. It is, in hindsight, pretty straightforward Wink

I had decided that I would make the finding of this cache a milestone, my 200th puzzle cache [^].

I had planned the day, train to Thorneside, bike to the cache. En route I made communication with a fellow MCBC member and together we trekked to this one. I do wish I had updated my maps, but a tromp in the woods is kind of fund, while dragging a bike behind [xx(]

At GZ the cache was soon at hand Big Grin

So very happy to have this one solved and found. And thanks to svn07 and Jonah2409 for the company this afternoon.

Thanks Smile

I have absolutely no excuse for not getting this puzzle without assistance... No excuse at all... Except to say in my plea that, "Sometimes the bleeding obvious eludes me your honour"... Red Face

After a nudge or three from DRML, I started to put things together but even then, I was not convinced the outcome was what I needed... It turned out it was but when checked on the page, I got a "Bugger off and try again" reply... Grr, that's annoying. Then I noticed a little symbol I had ignored in the solution which apparently makes all the difference... Application of said symbol produced a green light and I was in a much better frame of mind... Some might say, I was looking on the bright side... Big Grin

This morning, enjoying a fantastic start to my Sunday, I swung by for a wee hunt. I found a parking spot nearby with a gate to let me in to GZ. There was a car there already and I wondered if I might have company at GZ... [^] I wandered past the car to see the window down a fraction and the keys in the ignition... Huh, that's not wise I thought... Surprised

I pushed on to GZ though to seek out my reward. On arrival I checked the obvious spot and found nothing. A quick realignment and hey, there it is... Nicely tucked away by the previous finders I must say... Log out and business done, I headed off. The same car was still there and I remember thinking that someone is going to get a long way down a walking track and think "Sh*t", I left the keys in the car... That's not a good feeling is it... Twisted

Thanks for the puzzle. It had me stumped and it's fair to say that without a nudge, I would still be taking a casual glance at the page and moving on pretty swiftly... Wink

Cheers Ghostgums.

15/01/12 12:47 PM Find #718

After hearing about this one recently, I spent some time looking over the puzzle. After some jumbling, rearranging and analysing of the letters (as suggested), it suddenly became abundantly clearer, and the solution was there staring me in the face. With a little bit of tweaking, I was able to work out the required location.

Finally this weekend, we had an excuse to head over this side of town (excuse being to pick up this one Smile ), and so NyletaM, the kids and I made our way to the GZ.

After a very quick search, the cache was in hand.
We took our time signing the log, before wandering off to find a few other caches in the area.

Thanks for the great puzzle..
Enjoyed this one very much.

Alkzura and I headed out today to pick up this cache. He's solved it just recently and wanted to tick it off our list. We made this an excuse to find some other caches while in the area of course. Smile

I am pleased to say that the find was a quick easy one and the log book was signed and replaced. Everything is in good condition. I have no doubt Alkzura will give you a more detailed rundown and will leave that to him as I was just the lucky tag-along on this one. Cool

"Coming out of my cage and I been doing just fine"
After months of struggling with this puzzle on and off, I took another look the other night (kudos to Agap for solving Cipher Jupiter and bringing up the subject of this cache then Wink) and .... no, it can't be...
The light bulb lit up, the penny dropped - bingo! And of course, then the disbelief that I hadn't tried this before, as I have come across various parts of the puzzle in previous caches, just not put together this way before! A very well-constructed puzzle - so simple and yet clearly so effective. Like you said, amazing that it took 7 months to be solved. A little bit of Occam's theory here too huh.
This was on the list for a christmas day trip as we just couldn't leave it until we get back. A lovely area that was very quiet today and the cache was found no problems. Am still mind-boggled by the brilliance of the puzzle.
Thanks GhostGums and merry christmas!

Well, I am happy to admit that I received some assistance with this puzzle.

I had constructed an idea of what I needed to do, but it wasn't until I had my jumbled thoughts all lined up, did I get the help I needed.

DRML illuminated the cache puzzle for me in a way I previously didn't even think of. It was that simple and the answer I wanted was blazingly obvious.

A trip out to the cache in the rain and Geo-Son and I mistakenly followed elephant tracks in a wide arc, taking over 20m to travel 3m to GZ.

Cache is in good, dry condition, with a minty fresh log book soiled by only two names Smile

Like everyone, I have been pondering this one for a long time now, trying various styles of decryption, substitution, frequency analysis things I could think of (not that I know an awful lot about them...)

Fast forward to the City Cacher catch-up, and I shared my theory about an encryption style with the owner. "it looks like ...." to which he replied "No nothing like that it's much easier - I'm surprised nobody has cracked it yet" I went away thinking that either we were all pretty stupid, or the owner was Mad!

Then one fateful night, while sitting in front of the PC I looked at the text again, and started to manipulate it in certain ways... I discovered a software feature that I thought I knew previously, had another feature I never knew about - and soon I had the answer staring me in the face!

Excitedly I jumped on facebook to announce my deciphering the final co-ordinates to the world. Problem now was one of transport to GZ!

With bad weather, and Xmas commitments prohibiting a find for a few weeks, I nervously awoke every morning to check if nobody else had made the same discovered I had in the wee hours. Somehow my luck held, and today I was finally able to travel to GZ with all of team DRML to locate the excellent cache in a lovely peaceful spot - and an ***FTF***

TFTC ghostgums, and for checking it was still there, even offering to courier a new one should the old one go missing. This has truly been a highlight of our caching experience thus far!

Thanks for sharing the BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE
