Needing numbers for my next milestone, I met up with wayn0 to ride the Redlands trail. We both had solved this one so took another detour to collect. Found the cache but the water inside meant the logbook was sodden and unsignable, we added a temporary log to the container.Tftc GhostGumsFind #4886
I've been working, on and off, on this puzzle for years but never really getting too far. A few times I thought I was on to it just to have my ideas slip away. I really did put the effort into it but in the end had to reach out for help.
The walk in here was pleasant and the cache itself was easy enough to find. All well with cache and contents.

Quick trip to the Redlands to visit some friends before Christmas. Spotted this trail so decided to find some caches along it before some lunch and last minute shopping. This one was in a list of randomly solved puzzles so was nice to actually find it. Will be back in the New Year to find some more. Nice hide, TFTC.
I have tried a few times over the years to figure this one out but as one unskilled in Excel and basically most areas of advanced maths, I struggled. I suspect there is some kind of sneaky back door, but I couldn’t find it.
However, I do have some skills in jet-skiing, even if it means inspecting every tree or log in the forest.
I had quite an enjoyable wander around this afternoon, going here, going there and at long last, I lifted some wood and revealed some Tupperware.
I always think the upside of a JetSki find is the reaction when I find it. I tend to jump up and down, punch the sky and yell in ecstasy. Would I be doing that if I had merely solved some tough maths at home?
All is in great shape here so TFTC and opportunity to explore this great area once again.

Thanks for the puzzle
While we are in the area we have been doing a few bike trails , this one was a good workout, hides were all fun.
Few quite tricky ones to mix things up a bit

I was well familiar with the original problem to this puzzle, [GCXYVY: Postmodernist Zoo](https://coord.info/GCXYVY) by Zytheran, having attempted to solve it many years ago. Although that problem, and the current problem, don't look too bad and just a matter of basic algebra, the added constraint that the solution must be integers (and unique integers too) is enough to up the difficulty significantly. There are Microsoft Excel add-ins that can incorporate this, but these are costly, and so one method for solving is a trial and error solution.
This morning, I joined Ruzzelz' Reindeer/Ride Group (RRG) with a morning of finding the *Cycling the Redlands* geocaches series. The rain had magically disappeared from the start of our ride, and it was an enjoyable group session. I then managed to target a few older geocaches in the area before heading home.
In the afternoon, jesswrigley and I headed out and took a walk along Enoggera Creek in The Gap, finding a few of the *On Your Bike* series from #11 to #6. Again, the rain stayed away long enough to have a decent walk along this stretch whilst passing by many muggles similarly enjoying the afternoon.
Ruzzelz' Reindeer/Ride Group (RRG) consisted of bedmakerTG, DisSister, eatmorchikin, JQTB, La Kedi, nikid1, TaxisVW and DrPam, and teamdfl, as well as our esteemed leader Ruzzelz. Meeting at Scribbly Gums, we rode to the eastern end of the trail, with the plan to ride west and collect the caches in the series. We took a coffee break in the middle of the series at the nearby Alexandra Hills Shopping Centre, as well as a few miscellaneous geocaches that we encountered along the way. In total, we rode an approximate distance of 20 km.
We stopped off at this geocache, and it wasn't too long until we managed to make the cache find reasonably quickly. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, and we signed as *RRG* / *RR* to preserve space in the logbook. Thanks GhostGums for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

I ride Scribbly Gums usually every second month so I have been cruising ride past a few of these caches on a couple of occasions. With the New Year fast approaching I decided to test the water on whether a few like minded geocyclists would like to complete the trail.
Now the weather was not looking good but as the ride leader i was duty bound to turn up. Right on cue at the designated start time the rain cleared and a group of many set off to clear the Cycling trail to Redlands.
We set off from Scribbly Gums heading East and then back West to collect caches. After the final western Cycle trail cache four of us pushed on to seek additional caches.
ruzzelz raining (not) ride group all had a great morning on 2 wheels including a diversion to Alex Hill shops for a group session at the coffee shop.

Joined an enthusiastic group of cyclists to make the run through the trails here, stopping every so often to take a wander into the bush or ponder a structure. A great variety of hides, some tricky, some straightforward. Thankful that many eyes made short work of the hunting in most instances and that the rain kindly stayed away. All up we rode 30km today, signing logs RRG to save space. TFTC GhostGums
To finish off the year, a group of about 15ish of us got together to cycle this great little bike trail, despite heavy rain trying to discourage us right up until the minute we left! Fortunately, it stopped raining long enough for us to complete our 30km exploration of the area, with many finds along the way. As always, we got to catch up with old friends and make new ones, though cycling in such a group made chatting a bit of a challenge, though social distancing easy. This was a bonus for me, one of a few puzzles I'd solved a decade ago at one of our group puzzle solving sessions, if I recall correctly. So nice to finally get back down here and collect it! TFTC, GhostGums. =^.^=
I wrote a computer algorithm to solve this one. It was unsuccessful because it overheated my computer. Such is the challenge to solve this puzzle!

Out collecting caches on the new cycle trail, along with some others along the way, chamad and I stopped here to see if we could make the find here.
We did end up finding the cache, not before finding some scorpions which was a little unnerving!!
After signing the log, all was carefully replaced as found, and we continued on our cycle journey for the morning.
Thanks GhostGums for the very tricky puzzle and the cache.

A morning of caching with willis007 and a day for a leisurely Sunday bike ride. A ride from Capalaba to Cleveland enjoying the recent trail of caches on the bikeway. A nice variety of caches, some very tricky hides and some not so hard. It was a fun morning and by the end of the trail, we were done. We were planning on another ride further afield, but we were feeling a little lethargic from the heat and the humidity and called it a day. We still managed to grab a couple of the older caches in the area on our around and towards home. We were happy with our haul today, we got to take it easy and enjoy the caches and the surrounds.
This was the next in the run of caches along this trail. Oh hang on another that is not part of the series. I had solved this one a while ago and it took me a lot of time and effort to figure out, but like most puzzles I do, I’m sure there is a quicker way. Today was a great chance to grab this one. I thought it was gone until I lifted a piece of wood that was away from the actual log. This log is very decomposed and just interesting to view. I uncovered the container only to find two scorpions have made a home on and under the container. Quickly checking the rest of the container, I then opened it up to reveal a nice dry log. Watching my little friends, I quickly signed and replaced all as found, leaving my little friends to enjoy the cache. Thanks for the puzzle and the hide, my first encounter with this type of creature while caching.

This cache is nutty hard. I needed help. Thanks for the help I got from my tree fishing friends. The actual cache is in good condition. Was worried when I saw a lot of rake work done in GZ.

Second time visitor to this spot to search for the cache with someone a lot smarter than I. Interesting I could not find the cache last time I visited alone. It only became apparent that I was searching for the cache at the parking coords not the calculated coords. This only became apparent when typing this log . . . Another 30mins I'll never get back.
Thanks GhostGums for the history lesson in cricket. Good to see some of the past masters that I managed to see with many other yobbos sitting on the Gabba hill, when full strength sherbets could be consumed by the bucket load. A FP for the memories.

Worked this out last night, my first method fell apart, some more research and I had a new method.
Entered all in a spreadsheet, after some basic manual work (i was too lazy to design the long formulas) I unleashed excel on the cricket players.
Some tidying up on the results and I still had a red tick, turned out that two letters can be swapped without any impact on the result.
With my swapped letters I got the green tick, estimate that this took far less time that others have spent on this cache.
At the coordinates, it was an easy find.
Thank you for this one

After collecting another cache in this bushland we kept walking down to this solved mystery. After we had visited another mystery earlier today with wrong coordinates I quickly ran what I had through the checker. Party on Garth. Party on Wayne!
As we were walking down to GZ we crossed a group of 5 people carrying a large cage that was partially covered but had something grey soft and furry in it. We suspected it was a koala but they were also carrying BBQ tongs so maybe they were on their way home to make a burger. They weren’t keen to stop either so we suspected some mischief was afoot. We also wanted to leave the path for our own mischief so waited for them to walk on by.
After picking up something suspicious and finding nothing Mrs Woodyrothwell picked up something bigger and more suspicious only 50 centimetres away. Beaten again! tftc

I started working on this one as it’s close to the in laws. After several hours I have 8 combinations for z and o, and a number range for 4 other letters. It’s going to be so good to solve it!
Eventually, the posted co-ords are just up the road and solved ones not too far from that. After years of tortue, reams of paper and endless hours trying to solve this I was talking to a friend who gave me the necessary info to be able to complete this endless effort. It has also given me 8 months for my unloved caches. Arrived at a parking spot not too far away I took the short walk into the bush and there were a couple of obvious places and luckily I chose the right one. Signed the log and replaced cache as found and off home happy to have a Smilie. TFTC
I was out with Selva Girls today claiming a few smilies in the area and picking up some solved puzzles. We had a lovely walk in to gz, admiring the landscape, and after a bit of a hunt we found the cache, still in great condition. Names added to the log and all returned as found. Tftc and the puzzle GhostGums
After stopping for a bite to eat, stortigirls and I made our way to this one. I had solved the puzzle a long time ago, but had not been in the area to find it.
Today, we took a lovely stroll along the path until it was time to head bush. Once at GZ, we searched for a while until I finally located the cache in a spot that doesnt look like it has been disturbed in quite a long time. We added our names to the log, returned the cache to its spot, being careful to make it look like it hadnt been disturbed, then continued on our way. TFTC

After cracking Post Modernist Zoo for an upcoming trip, I had another look at this puzzle and I am pleased to report that I have now solved it. Thanks for the challenging puzzle
I was certainly stumped on how to solve this one and took me many overs to even think of a way to solve this. With a hint from a geo-friend recently I was able to finally get a new set of co-ords for this clever puzzle.
Out today visiting my cousin and had to stop and finally get this cache. Started off at the wrong co-ords (had original) then found solved co-ords over a 1km away. That looked a better place to hide a cache and even then still took me 15 mins to find it nicely hidden. Signed logbook and returned cache to its hide.
Thanks Ghostgums for another interesting puzzle.

Oh good lord, how long have I struggled with this one. Several years I think. I was given one word (unrequested) that led me down the path of a solution. Tis was after copious spreadsheet, calculations, guesses and sheer bloody mindedness. I think the best I got was about 8 names worked out before I realised that this was a REAL challenge.
With the whisper of a word I had a usable theory, and took only a half an hour until I had a result that mad NO SENSE AT ALL. It took another half an hour to realise me error, and I had a solution. Phew, Finally. Maybe i can go play some cricket now!.
On the way home today I called in for a quick find, and a good cache.
Thanks for all the fun! Fave Pt from me

I have spent a lot of time trying various ways of solving this puzzle, most of them resulting in crashing my computer under the sheer weight of number of variables and possibilities.
Eventually, I was talking to a previous finder at an event and this cache came up in conversation. I got a couple of hints and, eventually, a set of coordinates.
For some reason, I have sat on this for a month or so but today we were in the area collecting another cache and I decided to grab this one as well.
This was the last cache for the day as the kids were getting decidedly cranky and hungry.

Last Thursday night Mr & Mrs EMC were looking at the geocaching map and clicking on random caches here and there. This cache just happened to be clicked on for some reason which was very unusual as we don't generally do the blue question mark cache unless they are sudokus or on site easy ones. Well we read the cache description and Mrs EMCs mind instantly starts thinking A=1 B=2 type of scenario. Mr EMC laughed and said no way would it be simple like that. The mystery intrigued Mr EMC and he sat there on his computer tapping away. In less than an hour he says "Sweet". He told Mrs EMC that he had a set of co-ords. Mrs EMC asked if he had checked them and he said that he had forgotten that he could (you can see we don't do these type of caches often). The checker confirmed that the co-ords he had were indeed correct. Mr EMC proceeded to explain the complexities of it all to Mrs EMC (power of this to 26 blah blah blah) but it all went over her head! Mrs EMC said it couldn't have been hard you solved it in less than an hour! Roll on to today and we were coming back from a great day on Pirate Island with the kids (Coochie). We decided to stop off here on the way back to grab the cache else we knew it would get forgotten. It was a very pleasant afternoon stroll. Unfortunately the kids had thongs on so we had to piggy back them to GZ. Luckily there was somewhere nice and big to stand them to keep them off the ground. The cache was in an obvious location and quickly to hand. Kids did their swaps and log book duly signed. This was a very beautiful conversation area and one that we hope to come back to with more time. The trails and little streams of water running beside them looked really nice and caught the interest of both kids. Thanks for showing us this spot GhostGums.
Today we cached around the Cleveland area.
We had to get a nudge in the right direction to work this puzzle out.
Then it was off to the new co-ords to find it.

I was batting with Linden6 when we decided to knock around a few loose balls. Although this was a bit of a flipper, I was able to play a straight bat and hit this one for six. This delivery takes my Unknown score to 120 not out and still looking good. After this one we still had one more delivery to attend to and then it was stumps for the day.
Nice puzzle GhostGums, and a night out for this all rounder. We were lucky to that rain did not stop play, but it was threatening.

This was a fun puzzle which I managed to solve quite quickly.

Looked at this a few times and always put it aside for another day. Well the time came to solve this and it wasn't too hard with the right method. Now for Illuminati.

Rocking the Redlands on a bayside bash today with Slow Puncture. Weeks of meticulous planning trying to line up unfound unique combos culminated in today's little adventure. With an early start to the day we planned on finding 25 Unique D/T combos for the day thus completing the challenge of the same name. With completed co-ords at the ready, we set off for GZ after completing a nearby traditional. A quick find was soon made if a well placed and hidden container at the obvious feature. Thanks for a great puzzle
Slow Puncture were out today with Orange Crew, both teams were seeking the same caches to earn "The Unique Difficulty/Terrain Challenge (QLD)" - 25 different D/Ts on the same day.
Kieran had identified 25 qualifying caches (and some spares) on the Bayside, so we met early this morning in the rain. Luckily the rain ceased as soon as we met.
Find Number 17 for the day. We continued on our path after finding SCRIBBLES, and down to the final GZ which could have had us stumped, but was pretty straightforward when we got there, and Luke spotted the cache.

Today was an interesting day because we are to attend the Northside Puzzle Group meeting on the southside!!! (Thanks Monty Python!). We began the day by locating finding the southside puzzle caches we had solved many months before our move to Tasmania. Pleasant way in today and quick find.

Sometimes, you just strike it lucky and happen to be in the right spot at the right time! We joined some of the Northside Puzzle Group for a very enjoyable breakfast, and to spend a couple of hours solving some of the nearby puzzles. While we were able to solve some other puzzles, or contribute to their solving, we are not going to pretend that we had any idea of how to solve this one. Fortunately for us though, there were some present who had done the hard yards (or at least their son had), and we were able to head off with the group to ground zero. [^] Once at ground zero though, it wasn't long before someone had spied what we were looking for, and the log was passed around for signing. Thank you for the puzzle and having placed the cache GhostGums
A beautiful day to be out & about around this area... Decided to take in Cleveland and surrounds today...
An area to which I had never been before...
After enjoying a coffee & a chat with the 'Northside Puzzle Group', I was happy to tag along & collect some smilies today, this being the first of them... I would like to say, that I contributed in some way with the puzzle solving, BUT the group had already solved this, so I just HAD to tag along...
A bit of a search, made the grab, signed log & replaced...
Thanks for bringing me here GhostGums and for the cache...

Out today for a Northside Puzzle Group invasion
After a sumptuous breakfast, and lots of puzzle solving at the Coffee Club we headed out to find some caches [^]
This one had us all stumped for a long time......I then enlisted my son (quite the mathematician/computer programmer) to solve this one for me [^]
He started by calculating, going through reams of paper filled with algebraic formulas until he decided he had proven his approach. He then started to code this process on his computer. After about two hours of coding and a bit of debugging he pressed the "run" button and in less than a second or two out popped the co-ords (well almost all of them). A little bit more work and we had the green light from the GeoChecker.
Don't quite know what onlookers must think as a six plus cars pull up and a whole bunch of people get out and start rummaging in the undergrowth
Nice easy find with the correct co-ords )
That was a really hard puzzle, thank God for the genius son (says proud dad)
The cache is dry and in good condition [^]
TFTC GhostGums a favourite point from me [^]

Another puzzle solved by the NPG and away we go. Who am I going to go to for advice when not around here, they are teaching me so much. I am happy because I was on the right road myself, knew those years of being computer bound would help one day. TFTC
Out with a bunch of crazy cachers on a fabulous treasure hunt. We had started the day with some breaky and puzzle solving at Cleveland and we were now ready to put some answers to the test. After a big night shift I was just tagging along trying not to fall asleep The triple shot mocha had briefly perked me up, but it might have just been the sugar rush form the marshmallows
I have looked at this puzzle many times, and I have even made some progress on it. A work colleague told me that it was a simple maths formula to work it out and could easily be solved by writing a simple computer porgram. Yeah right. Not so simple if you have nonidea how.
Luckily T-Tech and IolantheK have a son who can do such things. Thanks to them for the solution to a rather difficult puzzle.
The mob descended on GZ and the prize was soon located. Another pesky blue dot turned into a smiley thanks GHostgums

After our last NPG day out this way, this was one that gave us some grief. So the plan was to head home and work on the ones that we needed and meet up again.
Today was that day. With one of the group having a brain, a programme was written to solve this one. With some numbers in hand, we were off.
Make our way to GZ and locate the cache. Log signed, cache replaced.

T-Tech has long been eying off this cache, but had no success in solving it. When I finally got around to looking at it, I fairly quickly figured out what was going to be needed to solve it, and set about attempting it... mmm, a couple of pages of math later and I was cornered Time to haul in the big gun!
Number 1 Son is a computer systems engineer, and has a pretty smart head when it comes to math, so we waved the details around under his nose, (and I even dared to show him what I had done ) and he was very quickly hooked Page after page after page of math flowed from his pen, and we watched on with bated breath. An hour or so later and he had the proof of concept he was looking for, then set about creating a program on his laptop that would run all the numbers for us. Another couple of hours went by before a smile lit up his face, and we had our co-ords! Wahoo!!!!! Proud mama here [^]
This morning we spent a delightful couple of hours having breakfast and solving several other puzzles with a bunch of like-minded crazies, and while there we showed them what we had done to get the numbers Then we all headed out en masse to go a-caching! At this one's GZ the cache was a pretty quick find. TFTC, GhostGums.

This has been a puzzle that has been showing up for me ever since I started caching, mostly being quite close to home, so every time I would load up the map of the area it would be there, showing up a little blue question mark.
It was not through lack of trying to gain a solution,
First attempt was a manual one, which after a few hours was abandoned knowing it was likely a fruitless approach. Plus the extensive amount of working that was getting ever and ever more difficult to check in anyway.
Second attempt moved to excel, with a rather useful but, unhelpful spreadsheet, that took away more hours and still did not show any sign of hope.
Third attempt was after speaking with a previous finder at an event many many months ago, and getting the name of a computer program which may be useful in solving the problem at hand. Even though I did make more then a few attempts at getting my head around the program and getting it to work I had no success.
So it sat there looking at me, each time that I looked at the map, occasionally getting brought to my attention by another cacher asking about my progress with interest. It was then brought up at a small get together a few weeks ago and T-Tech made mention that his son may be able to help.
A little while later a message come through on a page mentioning a solution was at hand. After a little pushing a hastily convened gathering, for this morning. With breakfast and hot drinks plus a little more puzzling done, there were a few others finds between the coffee shop and this stop.
It was kind of a sudden inundation of cars on this small little side street, but we all fitted in, and the group got to the cache a little ahead of a couple of us bring up the tail end.

This was a puzzle I had looked at with Geo son before we became Geocachers ourselves. I spent quite some time trying to solve this. However life got in the way and it was only when I joined up with this group that I found out just what it would have taken for me to solve this on my own. With the answer in hand we were soon on site to grab the cache. TFTC
well the NPG is back
after a nice tasty breaky with hot coffee under the heaters at Cleveland Coffee Club we have finally solved todays [?][?][?] and now it is off to find ...
very glad i have a friend who had a son who is a computer systems engineer
i have seen how he solved this puzzle and i am in awe of both of you
we are slowly working our way through the brain of Mr GhostGums

A group of cachers met to solve and find a few puzzle caches in the area and this one was on the list.
I have had a number of attempts to solve the puzzle over the years but my maths skills have deteriorated over the years and I had failed miserably to come up with a solution
Luckily we had an expert who had written a program which had solved the puzzle and we headed out after the session to find the cache that we had solved, We arrived at a bit of bushland which I have visited a number of times over the years to find other caches, not knowing that I was walking past this cache hide.
The group converged on the cache and it was soon retrieved.
Thanks for the puzzle. I'm glad to get it off my list.

Finally made my way out to find this one.
Having various degrees in Mathematics and knowing how to solve systems of linear equations meant I had some prices within a couple of minutes (so my education is not completely wasted after all [:p]). This didn't really help though because I was trying to get some insight into solving 'Brighter Side of Life' and it just doesn't look like that one involves any matrix manipulations.
Maybe I'm wrong, I haven't tried that yet...
In any case after baking a pretty good pie (well at least one that passed the checker) I decided I had too many in my solved-but-not-found pile so I was out this way on a lovely moonlit night searching for a few. This was the last on my GhostGums list and like the other was bang on the coordinates and was a very neat cache.
Was happy to sign-up and had a satisfied feeling strolling back to the car. I tried to not think about Illuminati and The Brighter Side of Life, I'll leave that until my next slow half hour at work.
Thanks for the fun puzzles and cache. Looking forward to that feeling of Joy when I crack the next ones.

What an effort, calculating the cordinates requires some maths knowledge and a fair degree of meticulousness with the hundreds of numbers which took me some days to get right. It was good to be able to confirm I was right before I headed off, thanks for that thoughtfulness. The find itself thanks to spot on cordinates took a little while but not to long. Nearby I also found a home made bong! I presume not the property of an earlier cacher.
Cache is in good condition and the box has lots of goodies inside which I did not take as I had left my replacements in my car. Also took a picture of the Hotel on the way home and will post it for other to see.

I gusss I must be missing something, but there are no J's, Q's or X's in the crickerers names and a value for these is needed in the the co-ords or do I have to guess these. Also I presume * means multiply and + means a gap?
I had looked at this puzzle some time ago but quickly gave it away. I noticed that this met the requirements of an unloved cache challenge I am working on so resolved to complete it and make the find. A read of the logs revealed a possible methodology for solving it but had no idea of the mechanics behind that method. Spent some time reseaching this on the net (bringing back some vague but bad memories of my advanced maths classes in high school many years ago) and soon had some understanding of how it would apply to this cache. I also discovered another useful tool I have now added to my caching toolbox. A bit of fiddly data preparation and after a couple of false attempts with a couple of input errors my tool spat out the necessary information within a second or two.
Today was the day to make the find and I soon found the right path leading to GZ. The coordinates were spot on and once there it was a quick find with the cache in almost brand new condition - from the inside you would swear it had just been placed, rather than being over 12 months since last found.
All in all a very solvable puzzle with the right tool and the right data format. Glad to tick this one off the list and add a recent find. Tftc

Formula corrected. Not making excuses but I did just get off a plane form london when I fixed this, so the brain was not in top gear.
In future Keepingup, a email would be a more appropriate way of handling this.

I guess technically the South equation is not more wrong now, just more obviously wrong...
TFTC and the puzzle. I had fun re-learning matrices. Thanks to co for help with final maths. Cache well and good. Found with jasonicboom
Personally, I preferred the previous edition of this cache where I starred in the list and was worth a very healthy amount. Somewhere to the tune of four bottles of Brandy if I recall correctly...
I went to find the previous cache on the list and a level of discomfort and concern came over me when I failed to locate it. WHAT, don't tell me I have the finals to a cache that is no more... Noooooooooooo....
Alas, the cache was found and Ghostgums had been up to some jiggery pokery. Unnecessarily I might add, hence my post below... Try not to do it again please GG...
With an essential entry in the cache page highlighting the finals from the original puzzle were still good to go, I headed in for a hunt. I got followed for the first 50-60m by a muggles dog that was in no rush to head back home. Luckily, he turned around before I had got to the point where I needed to head off the path. We don't want him knowing where the cache is now do we... [^]
On the inbound trek, I spotted a likely GZ and zeroed in. Yup, there's the container safe and sound in its lair. I dragged it out and dusted it off. Out with the log and in with a sticker. I also grabbed the resident TB to get in back on the road. Finally ticked this one off, even if I lost more hair sorting it...
Cheers Ghostgums.

Hmm, an undetected change to the cache name that concerned me when I couldn't find the cache I was looking for... Try not to do that again Ghostgums. I'd appreciate it...
Puzzle text has been updated. If you have the old data, don't despair you will get the same answer! A quick hint, I changed the value of the letters!
Well this one certainly appealed to my weird fixation for numbers... After spending some quality time dusting off an old computer program I used in University - I sat down on glorious Saturday morning and began to compile the necessary data stream. 1st run down... bogus results... scratched my head a bit, rechecked the numbers and realised Doh!!! Why didn't I see that before. Re-Run - the batter hits the ball... HOME RUN!!! Bingo! No sooner had it been solved than I grabbed geo daughter and the misses and we were off on the hunt again. Beautiful location - was here earlier on another hunt - if only I'd known... Thanks Heaps GhostGums for the enjoyable mystery cache! Took the Travel bug and dropped off another.
With reason to travel over here for a nearby cache, I thought I'd have a go at solving this one to double my fun. Now this type of problem is right up my alley, but rather than fiddling with numbers to find a solution I opted for brute force - 27 equations with 26 unknowns is no match for a bit of computational power. The problem was quickly coded up - and the computer told to do its thing - yielding the one possible solution (after fixing an error on my part).
At GZ, it took me a while to actually find the container - the GPSr walked me around in circles for a while in amongst many possible hidy holes. But eventually the cache was found and our name added to the book - thanks.

As it turns out Lokipagan had given us some advice on how best to solve this sort of puzzle in preparation for our pending visit to the Adelaide Zoo.
So with a little help from some small friends, we got some numbers out in about 1 hour a few days ago.
No idea how long this might take to do manually but with 27 equations and 26 unknowns, maybe a bit of gaussian reduction on a 26 by 26 matrix might have done the trick. But we are very constrained for time these days and not sure we could find our reference book on matrices.
This morning bright and early we set off. Got a park near by and followed the path almost to GZ. Almost got sprung by a couple of joggers while rtrieving that cache.
Thanks for the puzzle and cache ghostgums.
How do you know the solution is unique?

Annnddd... *FTF* . I thought postmodernist zoo was bad but this certainly took longer to solve. Although we did have the ground work established . With a bit of rewriting, I had the solution just within reach. Or at least I thought so . 3 attempts later I discovered I had made a mistake with Justatrifle which was making life difficult. Back to the drawing board. I still couldn't get it to spit out the right solution though. Eventually I started from scratch again and no problems. So it certainly wasn't as straight forward as I would have liked it to be!! Headed off this evening to try for the cache and found a closer parking spot than suggested . No problems getting in and no spiders thankfully! Found the cache in a great spot and a blank log book. Even better . Seems we were just in time as there is another green tick in the coord checker! Thanks for this one Ghostgums. It is certainly a worthy puzzle to be shared as far and wide as possible .
