After some work commitments in Umbakumba I went back and stopped at this one with an extra pair of eyes today and a after a lengthy search we found it buried in a spot that very nearly got burnt, luckily not and glad to have found the cache rather than replacing it. I love these rocks, I actually enjoy seeing all the rocks along here on my way to work, its a nice drive. Interestingly enough its 2489 days of unlove Ive collected hereTFTC A fav for location and age
A DNF from us today, recent fire activity has us concerned for its welfare. Will do some more research and try again next time I head out to Umbakumba
My first visit to Groote in over 4 years so I decided to do a maintenance visit for this cache. Happy to report that the container and contents are in good condition and in the correct location. I have removed the Lego Man trackable, its time he moved on having been here since 2015
Temporarily disabled until GeoMaint team can perform necessary maintenance....sorry for the inconvenience
Couldn't find in the rock. Then saw black plastic container open on the ground 10m away with contents strewn around- see photo. Have hidden it back in rock, but obviously we don't know if we've put it in the right place!
Found my 2nd cache today! Decided to go geocaching in spite iof tropical cyclone Nathan hanging around Groote. Took the crab, ram an hello Kitty thingy, left two tokens and a toy soldier. Picked up the four travel bugs! Beware of spider webs!
Worked here on and off for years never thought to check for a geo, went out for a look today and found it sorry for no swaps but wasn't expecting to log geos when I left home
Replaced container and checked contents. All good now

Was on Groote this weekend running a training course for the new Scout Group that has started up. Loved the Eylandt, and one of the Leaders was very keen to learn a bit about geocaching and very kind to take me out to this cache on our way to the airport. Took the TB. What a beautiful place Groote is and a great place to finish my 31 caches in 31 days challenge! TFTC
Not exactly roadside but not far from it either. Was easy enough to find and took the Dranoweb Unofficial Geocoin to place in Darwin rural area. Found with JohnRannoch and Gruffalo333.

It was hard to believe I was there! Thanks for the experience John Rannoch and Flowers of May!

Great spot on a beautiful island!
Cache in very good condition. Dry, well sealed and we replaced it exactly as we found it.
Left a $100 note TB and took an unofficial geocoin.
Found while visiting with;
Flower of May and The Gruffalo 333
Cheers

I grew up on this eylandt and it is so great to see there are a couple of caches placed here now. I would love to come back one day and do them. Its such a beutiful place.
"Half-way". A really great cache, and worth the effort. But in my understanding this cache is NOT public access. I have lived there and worked with the Anindilakwan people closely over ten years. i believe it would be most appropriate to ask the traditional owners for permission. It would be best to take a local with you. I left a token, but checked permission on 1st August. I picked up the magic company to take South.
Took in this cache on the road from the airport to Umbakumba to have a look at our sea cucumber fishery project out there. Was in a group with three muggles but persuaded them to stop at the nearest spot on the road and we headed a short way into the bush and one of the newbies had the cache located in a few minutes.
The road will be bitumen soon but should not impact on the cache.
My first trip to Groote, great place and some interesting projects going on at Umbakumba.
I think I might have created two new cachers in the group although the third thought we must be nuts and told everyone we met along the way that day!
Hint seemed OK to me.
This might not be the most remote cache on the planet but perhaps one of the most remote I've found so far. Thanks to Africard for the Cache.

Shae (4yrs): We found the treasure! We left my sheep in the box, and took marbles and the Treasure Coin. Now you have to find the treasure. We will miss Groote.
