We have started our homeward journey from Canberra after the Mega, and after overnighting in Bathurst, and our first of two nights in Armidale, today we hunt high altitude caches. Bald Hills Road circuit is our target.

Could not work out what Marengo is - no internet to help either. Magnetic perhaps? Cache wasn't.

Log signed and cache replaced as found at 11:47 AM on April 16, 2023. TFTC, groovydoo

At Armidale today for two nights and caching in the area. Some target caches that need our names in them.

Hint has changed but still a typical hide at this location.

Today caching and travelling with RoddyC.

Crookedpete and I were given leave passes from our respective families for the Easter long weekend for a geocaching road trip. I suspect that this was our families' Easter present to themselves to have a weekend alone without our company Smile.

As members of The Bromance geocaching collective, we are a rather contrarian bunch, so while the main geocaching action was apparently up north over Easter we decided to instead head south from Brisbane. Our main focus was on caches with lots of favourites, good DT combinations, high elevation or sitting sad and neglected with no visitors for an extended period.

After a second night camped on the roadside on the way into Armidale, our plan for the day was to head out towards Mt Hyland in search of a FTF. With that mission successfully accomplished, we headed back towards Ebor. Along the way we stopped to hunt for a few more caches to add to the tally, including this one. It was on the way to this cache that we noticed that the mini CB radio antenna the car had been sporting was now MIA, having snapped off sometime earlier today. Oh well, it was an old one and I still had my newer full size one back home. That newer one was a replacement for another one that snapped off from the vibrations of a rutted gravel road while my daughter was driving me along a power-trail of caches. While I messaged my daughter to show her my handiwork this time, Crookedpete headed over to hunt for the cache. Not looking suss here at all to passing cars! TFTC

17-Apr-22
Instead of heading mega north to Townsville for Easter, Seffnjarah and I planned a long weekend road trip south to Armidale and surrounds.

Another early start out of the swag at our preferred roadside camp site just out of town. The plan today was to cache along the Waterfall Way chasing unloved and high elevation caches with an FTF thrown in for good measure.

Another high elevation (for Australia anyway) cache. Thanks to the hint this was a nice quick find.

Many thanks groovydoo

Pete

Left Grafton this morning heading to Tamworth to meet up with DiMorgan for the 29 Feb Souv. Stopped at Ebor and noticed this trail nearby. Setup the caravan at the Pub and set off for these. Nearly at the end and the heavens opened up on us. We were planning on doing the other trail but decided to call it and headed back to support the local pub for a few light refreshments.

25/1/20 Find #3326
A road trip long weekend with Fangsoki, PPrime and Crew153, staying in Dorrigo. Cache was soon found, buried in webs - there may be trepidation at retrievals when so much webbing is involved, as none of us are mad keen on arachnids, and there’s the added bonus of funnel webs down here.
Thanks for the cache groovydoo.

Long weekend....time to get away. I left Brisbane yesterday after work and eventually made it to Grafton. This morning dawned raining with low cloud cover. This put a damper on my original plans for the day. Instead, I lounged around for a bit and had an extra cuppa or two before setting off. Next, I stopped to make a quick find here and sign the log. Each year I like to get out of Brisbane for a week or so around my birthday in September. This year I decided to plan a road trip which would take myself, Captain Terror and catscatcat22 on a 2700km loop of southern Queensland and northern New South Wales. We were gone from the 18-24 September and visited Dalby, Miles, Tara, Surat, St. George, Lightning Ridge, Walgett, Coonabarabran, Tamworth, Uralla, Armidale, Maclean, Yamba then came home following the coast road.

This was the 90th cache for me for the trip. I was in charge of deciding which caches we would get whilst on this road trip. This one was in the list so Captain Terror dutifully parked the car and we headed over to GZ. I spotted the container and requested that Captain Terror retrieved it. Cats, who was holding the pen signed our names and we returned all as found. What teamwork! Thanks for the cache groovydoo

23-Sep-15
For Net88’s birthday this year, she, Captain Terror, and I went on a road trip of awesomeness, taking us out west from Brisbane.
A total of six days, our whirlwind adventure took us West through Dalby, Miles, Tara and Surat, and then South through Lightning Ridge (the farthest West I’d been!). Then we’d continue South through Walgett, Pilliga, Baradine, and Coonabarabran to Tamworth. Then it was through Uralla to Armidale, and Maclean to Yamba, and finally back to Brisbane.
We saw kangaroos, emus, baby emus, kookaburras, giant guitars, so many sunsets, and so many snacks, thanks to the help of Snackman.
A nice holiday from work, it was also a great excuse to pick up geocaches along the way.

23-Sep-15
From 18 to 24 September, Net88, catscatscats22 and I embarked on a road trip to see some different parts of Australia. We drove from home in Brisbane to Dalby, Miles, Tara, Surat, St. George, Lightning Ridge, Walgett, Coonabarabran, Tamworth, Armidale, Yamba and home again, a drive of over 2700 kilometres, a few nights camping and 122 geocache visits to guide us along the way.

Along this stretch of road was a few roadside efforts that beckoned attention and this was one of them. With a quick U-turn in a nearby street as it was on the right in our direction of travel, we pulled up right beside GZ - just enough room for the car off the bitumen.

The hint helped here as I spent too long looking at broken bits of sign and getting tangled in a spiderweb. Net spotted the little container, but I was made to retrieve it and as Cats had the pen, she signed our names. That's teamwork at it's finest Razz Thanks for this geocache, groovydoo Smile

Made this one much harder than I needed to. Phone lost reception so I had to basically guess this from a map with no description, no information, no hint. Just as well it was easy enough! TNLN TFTC

21-Apr-15
Found as part of our run through the Bald Hills mini power trail. While we don't normally go a lot of D 1.5 T 1.5 caches we enjoyed the county side on our way through and thought the rating on some could be lifted a little. These all qualified us for the NSW altitude sickness challenge. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC.

Today we drove from Ebor to Port Macquarie.
It had snowed the previous night & as we arrived into Ebor there was still evidence laying around in the shady areas.
It was an early morning start 7am & -1degrees. We spent as quick a time at each cache as possible, hurrying to get back in the warmth of the car.
All the caches we found were in good condition & some wonderfull & scenic locations.
This was our 2nd attempt at this one, thankfully it was quickly located.
Thanks for placing this cache groovydoo
