Making our way towards home over the next few weeks travelling with 2 dogs and a cat we have found caching a great way to give the fur babies a break. Thanks to the COs for placing and maintaining.
Found easily enough and signed. The cache needs a new container and we have run out of spares. Tftc
Found at 10:54 AM.The location of these schools always amazes us - so far away from homes and towns - how did children get to these schools? Thanks to Southern Cross Caching
WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 10 - Cleve to Port Lincoln via Port Neill and Tumby Bay. My short days continue and I spent a bit of time around Cleve before I got under way. Plenty of roadside caches along the highways. I ventured into Pot Neill, Tumby Bay and Port Louth to check out the villages. As ever I would have loved to have stopped for lunch or dinner in each one, but I stuck to the plan and made it to the caravan park in Port Lincoln. Once I was set up I went and did a few more caches on the edge of town. A couple more Counties today. I'll spend another day here tomorrow before heading North West to th Nullabor over a few days after that.As I drove from Cleve I stopped at many but not all of the roadside caches. They all went smoothly except one. Oh well, can't get them all .. Or so they tell me.Thanks for the cache Southern Cross Caching46613.18 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Lackey AKPrincesswarrior A#467**Albida**
An easy find, however the cache is starting to perish, sorry I didn't have a replacement on me TFTC
On my way to Port Lincoln for 3 nights. Haven't been down this way before so going to have a bit of a look around. First impressions are very good
Day 7 at Cowell and today we headed down to Arno Bay, Port Neill and Lipson Cove. The information on the back of the sign was interesting! TFTC
Stopped here for a quick find on our way to Pt Neill. Thanks Southern Cross Caching for bringing us here to another old school site. Tftc
Adelaide to Port Lincoln Road Trip!
Day Three: Whyalla to Port Lincoln.
Weather: rain in Whyalla!!!
Brad&Janet have Used2B a School #0001 on the Cleve-Cowell Rd not too far from here, and as far as I can tell, the series didn’t go any further. Seems like there are lots of spots like this dotted around the country, and we only find out about them when a cache is placed. The common theme - nobody living anywhere nearby, making me wonder why there was a school there in the first place.
Thanks for this journey breaker Southern Cross Caching.
It’s officially a Mega!

Another cache collected off the Lincoln Highway on my way home. And another piece of history. I’m surprised this school opened during the years of war. Although I have no knowledge of its history. TFTC!
Found as we headed south towards Port Lincoln during a trip to Eyre Peninsula for a few days. Thanks for the cache Southern Cross Caching!

A 2 week tour of the West Coast started in Streaky Bay, then to Coffin Bay, then to Tumby Bay and finally a couple of days in Whyalla.
All caches were in good condition unless I've posted a Needs Maintenance log.
Out for an early morning cache run while the rerst of the caravan park slept.

This weekend, I joined gridge98 on a trip to Eyre Peninsula, primarily visiting Port Lincoln and its surroundings. We saw its famous marina full of trawlers, and we also ended up visiting Coffin Bay and enjoyed fresh oysters. A nice weekend with weather, and certainly a great vicinity to see.
Today leaving Whyalla, we headed down the Lincoln Highway, passing through Cowell, Cleve, Arno Bay, Port Neill, and Tumby Bay. Just prior to lunch, we also completed the *Cleve Cleaver* geoart trail. A rather long day of geocaching numbers, but the inland and coastal towns were enjoyable to visit, along with the various picturesque beaches along the way.
It was nice to make a quick stop here and admire this history. The cache didn't take long to find, and the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Southern Cross Caching for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Today davidwazza and I made our way from Whyalla to Port Lincoln as part of a weekend away to clean up as much as we could. Today was filled with some good and bad times, plus a few car issues along the way but all in all a great day out and 105 caches found in total.

A day in Tumby Bay to explore, not enough time to visit all today but did find a few as well as exploring the wall art around town, after dinner we decided we would do a few more caches by torchlight as we returned to our accomadation at Port Neil. Torchlight searching makes these a little easier to find, a quick find for us tonight, we have seen quite a bit of history over the years with the number of school sites that used to dot the country

With restrictions about to ease even further, I think we can safely enable our caches for people to start finding again. Please remember to practice safe hygiene measures while out an about, remain safe and most importantly, have fun.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Hello everyone, in these terrible times and with the current government directive for people to stay at home unless it’s essential. We’ve made a decision to take our caches off-line to stop temptation and encourage people to stay home. If this goes longer than the allowable 2 weeks period and geocaching hq decide to archive them, then so be it. But let’s hope this is over as soon as possible with as little damage as possible, so we can all get on with our lives this great game in the conditions we are accustomed to.
Cheers and stay safe and healthy,

Travelling Australia since March 2014 it has been a while since in SA but enjoying this visit greatly.
After a great sleep last night at Carrow Wells, Port Neill which was so friendly with a great deal at the store for Fathers Day and awesome tourist signage around. Today it was moving day to Port Lincoln, but we decided to stopover in Tumby Bay first and have a good explore. What a pretty town, which had a great vibe to it. The sun came out for a good portion of the day too.

Travelling from Port Pirie to Port Lincoln and it was a quick find. Like the extra information on back of sign.
We have come across many 'old school sites' on our travels. Must have been a thriving community here once upon a time. Took a bit to locate the cache, but still there and in pretty good shape. TFTC
Your cache was visited by Team Mattycat, including Purrfect Di, Sebastbat, Jack, and young muggle Alex.

#1166 Ninth of seventeen finds on Day 10 of my South Australian geocaching road trip. Nice easy find after a short search. TFTC.
CPwanderer, GoodLook and I headed off for a weekend in Port Lincoln via an overnight stop in Whyalla
Our weekend was unexpectedly extended by a day due to illness and so my tally at the end of the 'weekend' was 168 cache finds
Sadly this was marred by a massive 28 DNFs
Port Lincoln, despite being virgin caching territory for all 3 of us, did not provide us with the pleasure that we had anticipated
So many of the caches were bison tubes and those that we did find, quite often were in places where a larger cache could have been hidden The other issue was the lack of maintenance on many caches
There are people trying their best to maintain the 'wheres wolly' cache hides however their resources are stretched thinly..... so if you are heading over, please pack heaps of cache maintenance containers, bags and log books and help out where you can. [^]
That being said, the trip was still a blast and some great caches were found and great views were seen!
So many school sites and it is good to see them being remember in SA as they are in Vic

Quickly located as we headed towards Port Lincoln!!
This was one of the caches found on a three day odyssey on the Eyre Peninsula! Myself, GoodLook and locuscache had never cached south of the Cowell/Cleve area so we had high hopes of some great caching. We worked our way down through Port Neil and Tumby Bay and grabbed those along the highway plus a few a little further afield.
Our time in and around Port Lincoln was frustrating. Lots very small micros, lots of very rusty tins and more dnfs than ive ever had in a day before this. We were very fortunate that local cacher , Roming Wendy joined as. Her expert knowledge of the town certainly helped. A medical issue had us stay a third day. This worked out very well as we could do some relaxed caching on our way home.
A special thanks to Roming wendy for her help and to those who hid caches in the area … particularly the Geo-Ambos, Wheres Wolly and Viper321. Special thanks also to my “mildly obsessive” caching buddies on this trip …………………………… amazing fun!!

Found whilst on a road trip with CPwanderer and Locus Cache, with the aim of the weekend to cache in and around Port Lincoln - fresh territory for us all. We certainly had a great time, however with a DNF rate of about 40% [:(!], it was tough going! We did however thoroughly enjoy the beautiful locations and scenery.
After joking all day on the Sunday we should spend another night in Pt Lincoln, circumstances presented that meant we needed to extend our time away! We took it slowly on the way home which enabled us to once again visit some terrific places
Thanks for the cache

Hi there Southern Cross Caching.
We found your cache **"Brayfield"** at 11:39:00 AM today. This cache makes our find count 13789.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip around the local area today. We usually start the day off by nominating a cache some distance away from our camp site and then take a route mainly determined by the next closest cache according to our GPS. Today we thought that it would be nice to visit Port Neill.
We ended up finding 11 & DNFing 0 caches today.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Grey nomading and caching our way up the middle, across the top, down to Perth and home to Adelaide for Xmas. After reading the logs and looking at the photo the only thing in the post was a spider when we were here on another trip.. No spider this time. T.F.T.C.
Found by Mary & David at 1200. Stayed at Cowell last night. Today, we cached our way to Port Lincoln, where we'll spend a couple of days. At least cachers remember these little schools now, even if for a different reason. Our thanks to Southern Cross Caching.
