For reasons other than geocaching, I found myself visiting the Windermere Berry Farm just outside Wanganui today. But of course there is always time to find a cache or two after real life stuff, so I decided to make a bit of a day of it and look for a few such as this one.Nope, too clever for me today. I searched high and low, near and far, for about 15-20 minutes before I gave up.
17 September 2022 13:40 TFTC mjmnz for placing this cache, number 11711 for me. Took me far too long to spot this one!
#11,697. I was up in Whanganui on a road trip over the weekend to try and reduce the number of unfound caches in this pretty provincial town. The weather was great all weekend which made it easier to get around a lot of different parts of the city. We parked nearby and wandered over to GZ. Infoferret and I spent some time looking for this as I had managed to miss it on the first sweep. IF checked the same spots I had looked at and held it up. Yep my bad. Signed the log and returned the cache as found ready for the next person. Thanks mjmnz for the cache.
TuiStorm found this one, nice hide well hidden with the coordinates a very good start with a very good hint
I was up in Wanganui for the day and decided to try and get closer to cache 100. So I got on my bike and went to find some and got to cache 80 today
This cache was really nice took a couple of seconds as my GPS was slightly off but none the less knew how it would be done tftc

Took us a while to find this as we got a bit confuddled about which was the back of the building. Having found the cache however, we were writing the log when a concerned gentleman stopped in his car and asked us if we were alright? He was from the coastguard and apparently we had set off a sensor alarm. We felt really bad about him being called out, apologised and explained what we were doing. He lives just up the road.
Maybe the sensor is new? It's annoying for him if he is called out each time someone comes to geocache. Reporting this as a problem to bring it to the owners attention. Cache is otherwise all good. TFTC

Thankfully this didn't take to long to find, bet this place can get really busy at times, TFTC
Find number 7745. My daughter is doing the Te Araroa trail And I have been a support person for a few days as she paddled the Whanganui [I was the other in the canoe] and cycled from Pipiriki to Whanganui. A 7pm crossing of the river at Koitiata where I met her and we camped for the night. An early start as she set off to walk to Bulls and I cached my way back to Hamilton.
The only fishing I was doing was for geocaches. Took me a little time for me to get my hands on the cache. Thank you for the placement.

as i was about to start my walk to gz a lovely lady came out of the building, she knew about caching and said someone from the building does it, wonder if its this co, cache was then found quickly, tftc
Taking a long weekend in Whanganui. Caravan at Castlecliff camp ground and getting a few caches before heading home. Thanks.

The hardest part of this cache was not losing the log to the wind ! When I arrived here I wasnt sure if I would make the find as there arent many places for a hide and there has been a recent tidy up along here. However, cache was in place and in good condition. TFTC
We are back in Whanganui for the evening. While TS is cooking tea I have come to get this one snagged and tagged. Cheers.
Teamed up with The Seagnoid and Zara for the weekend to Taranaki / Wanganui regions. Rattlls BBQ being the main attraction, along with LABS between New Plymouth and Hawera. Another awesome weekend.

This was our longest search of the day, There is certainly nothing wrong with the coordinates; just more a case of the cache container being pushed out of sight.
Cache # 4,933 - This one took a longggggg time to find. Kept worrying that folks in the Coast Guard building would come out and ask what we were doing. Eventually, on the 4th pass, brucewwnz found this one well hidden in the exact spot we started looki ng. Thanks for the challenge! TNLNSL.
Day 1 (With Squirrel Nutcase) of our Whanganui road trip.
Knew this was going to be a long day today. First cache found about 8am and last one found just before midnight.
Mission today Event, A cache starting with the letter U, Several Multi's, Earth Cache, Virtual and anything else we could find.
Achieved all the above.
Thanks to Cache Owners for their placement efforts and sorry about the cut and paste but this was a huge weekend for us. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... On a road trip weekend - We haven’t been on anything like this since Covid Episode One in March. A special Community Event in Whanganui got our attention. So we’re off to the ‘River City’ for a bit of fun...
Day One of our adventure - We intended on caching out some big trails, with the Community Event being the key focus... A quick, familiar find... Thanks mjmnz and TFTC.

I saw a suspicious item immediately and jgirl1880 went to investigate - "nope not it". After looking for a while longer there was nothing else that would even remotely resemble a cache so jgirl1880 went to have a look again and lo and behold I was right!
Once again I find myself in Wanganui for the weekend (up from Welly). Another perfect day for finding some caches, and this was one. All safe and dry here, TFTC.
Our last find for this evening. There was a whole bunch of cars outside the building but no people around. Quickly located the cache without being seen. TFTC!
One of 16 caches located today on a bike ride from our motel in town out to Castlecliff, mostly on a shared pathway. Found it reasonably quickly. #3267. TFTC.
Collecting a few caches this morning. Parked up at the circle and headed over towards where the GPS was pointing me and found the cache relatively quickly. All good here. TFTC
Would love to go fishing particularly if I had a boat. As it is I stick to firm ground and try to land smileys instead. TFTC.
This is my first full day in Wanganui getting lots of caches around town. TFTC.

(# 5239). Off on a road trip from Wellington today to grab some caches for the Mystery At The Museum challenge. A quick find. A nice unobtrusive hide. Everything in order. TFTC
Day 4/9 of our New Years trip up to the North Island. This was find #26/43 for the day and #195/526 of our trip.
While staying in Palmerston North we took a daytrip to Whanganui to see what we could see. It was a great day but so hot! After we took a swimming break at Splash Centre to cool down we got back to business. A nice easy find here for Mum. Later we would revisit this spot searching for my GPS lanyard with our spare carkey on it. Sadly we couldnt find it Thanks for the effort involved in placing and creating this cache for all of us to enjoy.

Sadly a DNF for this one. The clue really didn't help that much, and where the GPS led me, I started to question what you class as the back. With nothing to go on, and not even knowing whether it's high, low, fence, wall or anywhere inbetween, I eventually settled for a DNF.
found today on an evening bike ride down the river. It was lovely with the sun setting across the river. Quick find at GZ then back on my bike on the way home. We are managing to keep up with our challenge of finding a cache every day. tftc
In Wanganui for a family function and filling in time between the morning and evening gatherings. TFTC
Parked up next to all the rest of the utes & trailers looking like the very odd one out. A quick find thanks.
A nice quick find, Cheers.
Today is the day we head to New Plymouth, after some time biking the trail from the sea to the city. Another great weather day..
Thanks to all of the COs for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Stopped here while out and about this afternoon, found the cache within seconds. Signed log, TFTC
This was a very quiet location today and it was pretty much a park and grab for me which was great. TFTC
Wanganui Day 2
After lunch we wanted to head towards the ocean, although it isn't a pleasant sight.
We found a variety of caches in many different hides. This was liking a tiki tour of the area.
Thanks for placing this cache mjmnz

Drove down to see how high the tide had reached as waves huge and river levels high. Tide was well above the launching ramp BUT the notice board where the cache has nestled underneath has been removed. Too wet to check if cache is still there so disabled til the weather improves.
Caching is always a great way to have a really good look around and we enjoyed coming here and getting great views of the river and the harbour. TFTC .
This cache was one of the many caches we found on our 6 day campervan journey from Tauranga to Lower Hutt via Waihi, Cambridge, New Plymouth and along the west coast to Wanganui and back to the Hutt. A mighty and enjoyable journey which took us to many great and iconic parts of the north island and of course some great geocaches. Many thanks to the many CO's for the great cache placements and for bringing us to so many new places. Sorry about the generic log but 200 plus to log. TFTC
Out hunting with teijhankaiya. Paper log found on the ground? We logged cache and put it back up behind sign in a hole. It will get wet though - cache needs maintainance.

decided to check on this cache today after the last two logs. I have removed the rolled up log in the sign.
The cache and new log are in place still.

I have been a bit slack during the month of September (only finding one cache before today) so I needed to get out to increase my numbers. It was palnned for a car full of cachers to head over to Wanganui, but as the day neared, numbers dwindled so it ended up just being myself and Tommygun9. It was a warm spring day with plenty of muggles out and about. I ended up finding 30 odd caches with three frustrating DNF's
A quick find here by Tommygun9. A lot of boats out on the water today.
Thanks for the cache and the smiley.

Today was a day to sign off a few caches in Whanganui. Next was a big walk along the river bank towards the mouth.
It is amazing that this log is still in place.
Cheers for the cache.

Parked among the utes and boat trailers and I don't think we blended in. The cache was quickly found but it is, shall we say 'odd', looking at previous logs this may be how it is supposed to be. T F T Log mjmnz.
SpudNZ and I headed off for a September afternoon mission and Wanganui was the destination. I ended up with about 30 odd caches (on a dot day too) and we met another cacher along the way. I had only found three caches for September so this was a fortunately timed trip. Thanks to all the local hiders for making today's trip enjoyable.

Lots of muffles as a beautiful day - parked close by and found easily with no one even knowing - tftc

#1337 An unusual cache container - or is it? Horribly cold but an interesting area. TFTC
We found the signature log laying on the ground; unfortunately we could not find the container. We rolled the log tightly and poked it into one of the holes on the upright at about head height. This one will need owner maintenance. Thanks for the hunt!
