Archiving as original cache is definitely gone and no finds of replacement cache have been reported. Additionally I agree this is probably no longer a suitable location for the cache as it is taking a toll on the surrounding environment.

21-Apr-13
Is this one still here??? mind you had to dodge the muggles!

13-Apr-13
Will have to look harder next time

13-Feb-13
We saw it had been replaced and came to have another look but after 20 mins searching, high and low and then extending our search again, we still didn't find it, again Sad
The area surrounding GZ is showing obvious signs of heavy geo-traffic I assume partly by cachers unable to find an easy rated cache. It seems to be already missing again.
In September I cleaned up a lot of rubbish when I was here searching and today there was even more rubbish. Perhaps this is no longer a suitable spot for a cache..? I feel it should be archived and perhaps a new cache placed in a more "search friendly" environment.
While up the rock today I did manage to collect the info for the nearby earthcache so all was not wasted.

10-Feb-13
Didn't find it. The clue points to a perfect spot were I would have expected, but allas, nothing. I would suspect it is no longer there...

Hi, Sorry about saying you were inactive, anyway, Emily and I climbed the rock today and had a lot of fun trying to find it, but alas no luck, we came armed and a new cache was placed in a traditional hiding spot on the uphill side. it was filled with Emily's Jewels and her least favorite nail polish. Great Views.

TFTH and glad to help out. .

I went and checked out the cache this morning and can confirm it's gone. Aussiegoldminer if you want to place a new one please go ahead.

18-Jan-13
Seeing as the CO is not active for the lat 5 years, I am working in the area and will replace the cache within the next 10 days. Complete with log book and all the usual notices etc. Please dont archive it just yet.

18-Jan-13
I'm the owner of the cache, don't know what you mean by not active for the last 5 years. After the needs maintenance note was posted the other day I planned a visit the area tomorrow. I'll check to see if the cache is missing or not and report back my findings.

15-Jan-13
5 people couldn't find it, should be disabled.

01-Dec-12
Seemed several obvious places. But alas DNF. Possibly muggled

21-Oct-12
Had a good look for the cache but did not find it. lots of muggle activity in the area.

05-Oct-12
After a good 20 mins searching all likely spots, this is a regretful DNF.

03-Oct-12
Disappointed to say that we couldn't find it, 5 kids and all! Nice walk up the rock though, will be back.

04-Sep-12
We had a great time on the summit today with perfect sunny weather, but we were unable to find the cache Sad When we arrived at GZ there were obvious fresh geotrails even though no one has logged this online for a month, maybe other geocaches about? I searched every possiblity expanding my search to everything up and down within 20m, but no luck.

Found this cache while on a family picnic at hanging rock, took a travel bug (H19GTZ) and left a small green figurine. we are looking forward to finding suitable home for it, thank you for an enjoyable search,

Great place for a cache! Unfortunately a bit small for the bits we'd brought to exchange. Took a smiley travel bug to continue its journey.

GPS was playing up a bit but found it easily enough. Took a sticky lolly snake which somebody thought was a good idea to put in the cash and put it in a bin, and left TB which I picked up in Wilson's Prom a few weeks back.

Came here for an Easter family picnic get together. It was freezing and rainy on and off all day. I was excited to find there was a cache within the park. So off we climbed the lovely scenic steep, tiring, yet "brilliant for the calf muscles" path. Introduced some family members to geocaching they thought it was cool, newbie-geokids loved looking for the treasure! Signed log, took nothing, left carabiner clip. Thank you for the cache and the awesome views!!

Wasn't intending to come here today. Just out and about exploring the country when we saw the sign pointing to Hanging Rock-really glad we visited. It's an awesome place to explore with magnificent views. I remember seeing the Movie "Picnic at Hanging Rock" many years ago and never imagined I would get to see the area in person. Great piece of history and interesting geology......thanks for bringing us here.

A nice quick find on our way down the rock.. The kids, GF and I went for a picnic on teh spur of the moment to haning Rock. After a nice little glass of champagne and some sandwiches it was a nice stroll up to the top. We all had fun exploring the many areas around the roak, and when it was time to return home, I dropped a couple of travel bugs off in the cache. Thanks wjmoore.

I had a small day of caching planed to today to make sure I had a good number of caches on this once in 4 years caching day. I noticed the EarthCache here at Hanging Rock and decided it was worth the trip into the park. Having walked all the way to the top to collect clues for the EarthCache, I couldn’t walk past without picking up this one. Just as I had grabbed it, about 50 school passed me by, so I had to spend a few pleasant minutes in the sun admiring the view. I can imagine this cache would have taken up a fair bit of space in a camera bag, but I’m glad you waited to place it here, it’s a great location. Thanks for the cache

We couldn't just drive by the iconic hanging rock without investigating further so we made our way into the park and up the trail. A beautiful eerie place this morning shrouded in mist and raining lightly. Very spooky. We followed the path around the rock formations and took some time to explore before searching for the cache which was spotted tucked well away Smile. Thanks wjmoore

Its been a while since we had taken the chance to seek a cache but thankfully today we had the chance to do one. It was great to also be there for Thmorley's first cache as well. A great way to help Tom and Hayley kick of their caching expereince! TFTC

We always enjpy the walk up to the summit and it was dead quiet on a Friday morning.
Great views to be had as we ate our lunch in the shade of a large summit boulder.
Dropped off a TB from Europe
Thanks wjmoore

I initially wasn't all that keen to make the climb but once we got going it was worth it.
Foggy in Gisborne but clear blue skies up here.

Found @ 12:05pm, find # 1097.
Today we were out at Hanging Rock for the craft market so while we were there some of us made the trek up the track on this slightly wet and overcast, foggy day to find this cache while the others stayed at the bottom near the market.
On the way up we took the stair option and made our way to GZ, but GZ took us a while to find as the GPSr had GZ moving all over the place, one minute we were 3m away and without moving we were suddenly 15m away, but in the end after going around in circles for a while we came up with the goods.
Thanks to wjmoore for this cache and the trek up the hill even though it was not such a nice day.

Fantastic location for a cache. The cloud cleared for us as we climbed and descended as we did. A nice walk during our visit from Albany WA. Tfth

First cache of the day. Still in good condition. Put a rock in hiding spot to stop cache sliding out of reach (it almost happened when I was replacing it). Took TB.

This is a truly unique and amazing place. I went up the direct way and came back via the track. It was a beautiful sunny day - even warm

19-Jul-11
An easy enough find with the cold, wet & windy weather keeping the crowds away.

Found by Roma and Max.
We were on another geo mission in the area today and took the opportunity to search for your well hidden container.
There were a number of walkers enjoying the mystique of this very intriguing venue, although no one disturbed our search.
We signed the log and swapped pathtags.
Thank you wjmoore for this experience.
Cheers,
from Romax.

disappointing dnf, considering we got down to 3 metres. Sad (no logs?)

i think the terrain definately needs reviewing as I think it is harder than stated and definately impacts on less agile and junior cachers.

also i am not sure if it noted anywhere but there is a gate fee for this park area, $10.

but glad we visited

not sure if we will have the chance to look for this cache again..
