Logs
Couldnt find today. Reading back in the activity logs it may have been muggled as it hasnt been found in nearly a year.
Today my geocaching mission was to plug the last remaining 'minute' gaps in order to complete the S43 challenge. Having plugged all the gaps and gone as far south as I needed to go, I started to make my way back north towards Christchurch and the airport, finding a few more caches along the way. I parked and wandered over to where my GPS was leading me. The cache wasn't where I thought it would be but after reading some logs I checked out a few other things and finally spotted the cache. TFTC, Biggles.
Didnt spot initially then walked around and spotted strewn on the ground (sistema 1L, pencil, log and plastic bag all separate). Put together and hid again in a tyre (not sure where it was supposed to be). It was about 8m out by my GPS on the eastish side. TFTC
Once I decided to trust the GPS and ignore the rocks with plaques this was a quick find. All dry. Tftc. #3158
To keep up with my personal challenge of achieving a minimum of 10 caches finds per day I needed to find 7 caches today. To be guaranteed that number of finds I needed to make a cache raid down to Ashburton. This was my first find.. So, 1 down, 6 to go. TFTC ridders76. It's been a while since I have found one of your caches.
Driving down to the event in Oamaru with Injeanious, we drove slowly and took some of the back roads to pick up some caches on our way. We signed the log as JeJe to save time and space.
Very interesting spot, loved the mural on the wall nearby, TFTC!

JD and I set off early to Oamaru for the Geofest and grabbed a number of caches on the way. Another fun geocaching road trip! We signed the log as Jeje.
Cool little forestation nearby and I loved the murals. We wandered about for a little while trying to find the cache but soon had it in hand. Tftc.

Nice easy find with Geomum007 and Geo jessie. The log was soaked so a replacement sheet was put in. This recent rain has certainly caught some caches. TFTC and the place with it's history.
Quick find on a lovely mild Sunday, out caching with Busy paws and Geo Jessie. Cache lid was off, so contents were all soaked through after all the rain we've had. Busy paws put in a temp log. TFTC

This cache goes beyond the realm of love had to suck an earwig out of docs ear then scramble through prickles not my favourite tyftc
I have been planning this trip for a while now as I had some airpoints due to expire and wanted to go somewhere for Wellington Anniversary Weekend. So I've made it a 4 day weekend and come down from Palmerston North for a caching road trip. I have two goals for this weekend, to get two 2500 caches before 23 January as that is when I took up caching last year and to get caches on as many minutes as possible that will hopefully qualify me for a challenge cache in the Manawatu. Day 1 is Christchurch to Oamaru.
Decided to get off state highway one for a bit. Gps was leading me around the garden a bit but I got the cache in the end. Tftc

A friend took me to visit the environs of Asburton and a few caches as well, of course. Pleasant day.
Cheers for the cache.

A long weekend plus good weather forecasted equals a caching trip away . It's been a while since we have travelled south of Christchurch - the Dunedin Mega of 2011 was the last trip so we decided to head for the caching riches of Oamaru.
The southern alps were picture postcard perfect with their white tops against the blue sky so made a great background to our enjoyable journey.
Cool murals on the nearby building. We parked on the grass quite close to GZ, and it was pretty cold here in the shade. The grass was still white and crispy from this mornings frost (and it was already 11.30am)! As we approached GZ, a spotted a large flax and hoped the cache wasn't in there as had left the walking pole back in the car but luckily SW soon located the cache nearby. TFTC.

#12436. We were enjoying having a spell off SH1, and finding a few caches along the way. This cache had good off-road parking (though it was shady, and still crunchy underfoot). TFTC.
Chelzea and I went on a mission to get another 50+ caches in a day. We are running out of handy trails and groups of caches so today headed around the countryside about Ashburton. Quite a few Christmas hides and many other varied caches were found with a few DNF's and some un-attempted due to muggles or being taped of for milking cows. Changed plans and route a few times when the plan looked to run short of caches. All in all it was a long hot day of about 12 hours but managed 56 finds for me (a few more for Chelzea with some I had already found on a previous trip). Thanks to all the cache owners and please excuse the cut and paste log as many of the hides just merged together. I will note anything noteworthy in some logs though.
Haven't been out caching in the evening so much of late - figured tonight was as nicer night as any, and decided to grab a few down Ashburton way.
Sweet area...took a moment to find a way in and stumble across the cache....no one about so easy enough to thrash around. Cheers.

Gorgeous painting and lots of natives with many native birds about. Thanks for the great spot for a cache
Last time I came here it was cold and wet, so didn't look very long. Got it this time after a few minutes searching. Good cache

6th and final day of our awesome Mega Adventure and Papa is making the solo trip home. Took a bit of a search but found in the end. Salamat!
That was soo difficult considering the size of it. Walked passed it twice before I found it.
I was a little sceptical after reading the previous logs and not much time to spare - and then I almost ...! Only then did I realised how much of a hint a previous log offered TFTC!!

Managed to make a meal of this! No doubt I walked past it I don't know how many times. GPS would not settle, kept telling me I was in the paddock. Oh well next time.
Took abit to find it but a great wee find and a little history to go with it. At a guess I would say the trees were planted by members of the old church as found a few trees that had rocks painted with names on them. Tftc

Spending Christmas this year with my family, so we took Christmas eve off to be down in Dunedin in time to celebrate.
Needed some caches along the way of course though - and so found a few - not just for the streak, but needed not many more to be able to finish the stage of the licence series of caches that I was up to!!
This was number one. And quite an easy one too. Coords made me go in a circle around, but cache was very quickly spotted.

Trying to complete the whole calender matrix, let's see how far I can go.
Cool little spot and I see what you mean about the fire brigade. Took a little to locate a good entrance for this one but soon found it. With cache located, I went to complete the paperwork and realised I had no pen Treak back to the car to get one and everything was finally in order.
#23 for the streak.

Not so sure about the covering for the container but it certainly helps with camouflage
got bit wet while thrashing through the bushes finally found it where I should have looked first tftc
We thought this was gonna be nice and easy so Mum left the car running. Well we made it alot harder than it needed to be as the GPS wouldnt settle. I run into alot of cobwebs while looking (yuck!) Thanks for the cache

Just love a reason to get off the main drag and explore the back roads - thanks heaps for putting this here... hope to see more next time lol.. no pressure ha ha... the gps was all over the place so just went with my cache placing intuition.. and the likely spot appeared well away from the gps... and to think some people trust them when mounted in a car..
had us in circles for a bit then i spotted it, haha gottcha. nice hide in a cool wee spot. Cheers
Spent ages wasn't what I thought it was the camo was different to what I thought very good
Found it. 16/6/2013.
Raining hard but Kat made a top effort to find .trinket added

GPS had us all over the place, but found it eventually. Logbook is pretty wet, but we managed to get our name onto it. Unfortunately no replacement in the car, so the owner may need to check (or the next lucky cacher...). TFTC
This had us wandering around a bit before it was finally spotted.
+ a marble, - nothing.

Spent a while crashing around in the bushes. But eventually we found it. Nice cache. Picked up the sheep.
Nice place for a cache and to preserve local history.... good to see a decent sized cache for a travel bug sheep I had held for way too long.
Thanks for a good local cache

Hunted around further back where my GPSr was taking me, there were plenty of signs of others having been there too. Finally spotted it a little further towards the road although I did wonder for a moment if it was the correct thing... Interesting historic spot. Signed log, TFTC
very interesting hide, it's a first to be hidden like that. The boss was prodding it with a stick to make sure it was dead. Took TB Thanks

All the while I've been in South Island, I'd been looking for a convenient cache to drop off a Jeep TB that wants to travell the dateline.
Nothing so far so I'm on a mission.
A quick scan of c:geo revealed a possible candidate so a detour off of S1 was required.
A very interesting little spot and after a short search I found what I hoped was the cache. Interesting camouflage technique and it certainly works, albeit with a certain sense of apprehension.
Thanks for bringing me here and for the cache.
PS. From the previous logs it's good to see that there are wombles here down under!
