Heading south from Canberra to Albury to go geocaching with DARKSIDEDAN and C10A for the weekend. DSD and I stopped to pick this one up along the way. The full moon was rising and the sun was setting - it was so picturesque! Thanks for the cache, The Emongs! Cache and log book are in good condition.
Heading back to ACT after a 3 week trip deep into SA as far as the flinders ranges. This is a amazing cache location, a walk thru history. The railway line is long overgrown and after a unnecessary climb up to the tree near GZ found the cache closer to railway line than I thought. Tftc
Once we worked out where we wanted to approach from, we took the stroll and after a bit of searching, made the find. Thanks for placing this cache for all to enjoy.
Found whilst travelling from Albury to Canberra (home) after having been in Ballarat to complete the GeoTour. I definitely didn't expect the type of adventure that it took to get to this cache, but I guess that's what caching is all about! Popped my gaiters on, made my way through the long and used a huge stick to wipe away the huge spiderwebs between the bushes and cliffs. There were so many spiderwebs, wow! After I got through the spiderwebs, it was an easy walk for the second half of the walk but I remained on the lookout for potential snakes. I didn't read until I got to GZ that a previous finder had seen a snake, that made me a little bit more careful with where I put my hands! Nice find at GZ. Reiterating what has been said in previous logs, there's no need to climb the cliff-face. TNLNSL. TFTC The Emongs, a cool spot to visit!
First cach on the start of a weekend invasion in Albury with a group from Canberra. Found with Smittengranny and isopeda on the way south. Tftc
Wow, at long last. It was Isopeda who found this one easily and ever so quickly. I can't believe it I have spent hours here over the years It is so good to get rid of that sad blue face. TFTC SL
On our way to Albury, barb2e and I met up with SmittenGranny here, to avenge a previous SG DNF. This time we found it straight away. We also did a bit of foraging slate and quartz.TFTC
An absolute scramble up the steep embankment. Ting, Ting, Ting, is that a train?Nah, all in ones head, Thanks
Well well... While staying in Gundagai for a quick stopover on the way from Melbourne to Sydney it dawned on me that I should have time to find every traditional in town (well, the remaining ones, having found a couple on a previous visit). I thought I was done with Captain Moonlite, then I spotted this one.It was early morning when I swung by here, having already claimed a few caches for the morning. I found a neat looking bit of access, not far from the cache. Soon enough I was in the vicinity of GZ. I spent way too long, climbing up and down, having (as it turned out) quite the wrong location in my head. I sent off a message to the CO and scored a hint, but by this time I was on the way to Sydney. The next day I was back, breaking up the all-in-one-day trip from northern Sydney to eastern Melbourne, with a few short stops (but not the luxury of another overnight stay). It being very hot on this day I keep my eyes open, but didn't spot any snakeys. Again I searched, confining myself to the area suggested by the CO. Nothing. As disappointing as it was I gave up. In fact, I gave up several times after committing myself to just one more look...Finally, as I really seriously was giving it away, there it was! I was sure I had checked all around the hide, but I guess it was a case of just having the right angle and having the very contrasty light fall in just the right spot. What a relief finally to be signing! TFTC
#3988 A day trip to Gundagai for some CO maintenance and to try our hand at some where we had previously been unlucky.
Over 8 months since our write note and slithery encounter here.
Back to finally get our names on the log of a cache we had spotted but were not able to get our hands on.
TFTC Emongs & Polliwogs!

Lovely day for geocaching and found it with Everlasting. Thanks for leading us here
Sorry for the delay in logging
As I've been there a long time ago.
Thanks for the nice walk along to the GZ.

Thanks for the nice walk along to the GZ.
Trekked in from the SE end past 3 wallabies, 1 snakeskin, 1 eagle and 1 rat. Loved the adventure. Fav point from me. TFTC!
Found this one early in the morning and we went up top at first. Let me just say- don’t go up top where we were! Heed the advice and go down on the rail level. Very dangerous up top and not necessary to go there. Must have been too early for snakes thankfully. We found the cache and gave a FP for the interesting site. TFTC
On my way to the Mega at Rutherglen with Wicky. She's not great on road trips, so plenty of cache stops to break things up. Thanks for placing this cache!
Cheers

Found It!
An interesting little walk in here and then after a search of the area I spotted the cache. No snakes to be seen, just hundreds of spiders and lots of spider webs!

A DNF on 3-11-16 meant we were going to give this another a shot even after reading about the previous snake encounters. Well, MrG was... I was snake cockatoo or whatever you call someone standing safely back ready to yell 'snake' at the first sighting. Or run.... The cache was spotted easily (wasn't like that in 2016) and was extracted in chop stick fashion with two sticks. Fortunately the only thing to be seen here today was the cache. Not saying there wasn't anything else though.... TFTC The Emongs.
Found cache, seen container, however SEEN LARGE slither straight amongst the rocks where the container is located.
We had already passed a brown snake on our way along the track, and spotted a black snake slither into the rocks on our approach to GZ. A short search and the tip of the container was also spotted. Exactly where the snake had gone into hiding. Definitely not going there. Unlucky. TFTC.
Walked up to GZ passing a brown snake on the way. After reaching GZ we spotted the aforementioned Black snake (stomach looked pale), right next to GZ and got startled and snuck under one of the rocks. We then spotted the cache right where it had slithered into, so we had to leave it, hopefully on a future visit. It would appear it’s set up shop here for a bit now sadly
Awesome walk to the cache. Saw cache but unfortunately this little fella (see photo) was protecting the container...so didn't sign.
Please be aware we are in their territory.

This was a fun cache to do. I enjoyed the walk up to the railway and then had to make my way through some of the resident orb-weaver's webs. I also scared off a kangaroo in the process. Thanks for placing a cache here for me to find.

There is an access track that begged to be used.
We chose the correct pile of rocks to look under.
If I had my Wood Working tools, I could have made the Log into an Arrow and it would have pointed straight to the GZ

Heading back down to Geelong for an extended visit with the Daughter. Have the Mum in law in tow as well. I have been wanting to do this cache for some time, but some pesky world wide event foiled my plans . But here I now am.
Parked up and made the walk down the line to the GZ to find a pile of rocks which presented an absolute plethora of possibilities. But by sheer fluke, I spotted something. Bingo! How lucky was that! Completed signing duties and replaced. What a great location, and what the heck are those cherry looking fruit all around here?

The rain and icy wind held off and we were able to make the walk thru attacking plum trees and grass. Was a little worried at GZ but GLISS! managed to secure the find. Such a lovely walk along the railway. A fav for me.
Had etched this weekend out for a Mega down south, but with that postponed we thought a weekend adventure in the Tumut region would help fill the gap. A lovely trip with crazy weather (I love spring snow) and a few surprise side trips. So glad we made the trip! Thanks for the cache.

We parked a bit further down the road than suggested - near a driveway. - which avoided scrambling up the ridge. It took a little while to move just the right rocks and spot the container. An enjoyable walk along the rail. TFTC.
What a great place. Lived in the area but never come out to check it out.

We first looked for this cache sometime ago but without success. We have driven past the cache numerous times since but never with sufficient time to make another attempt. Today we had the time. So we took the walk up into the cutting Nd began searching. Our GPS was a little erratic and that meant that we had to widen the search area. After about 20 minutes one of us looked from the right direction and saw something interesting. We had finally found this (for us) elusive cache. Thanks for a challenging cache. It earns a favourite from us.
We are returning home to Sydney after a windmill quest to Adelaide. We stopped here and had a nice walk up to GZ. All alone this morning. Fabulous blue sky, a crisp 10 degrees and a wonderful outlook. Interesting to see that the rails have been pulled out of the cutting but not elsewhere. What’s up with that? SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek
PS Just located our log from a visit here in April 2017. Back then we walked up to GZ and our iPad cut out. From the log, we remember that we were in a major panic as our trip relied on the iPad. As it turned out, a few hits with a hammer sorted it out but it took us this long to return and we are glad we did.

Another DNF here again today. Even the bloodhound, ooops muggle Pa couldn't find it. He usually hones in on caches straight away. I might have to get some hints from friends before I try again. TFTC anyway, I think.

Day two of my journey of collecting caches and the original plan was to collect a few around Yass and then head to Tumut (via Gundagai) and do a lot more there, but I enjoyed the ones I started that I spent a lot more time around the former town. Had very little luck in Gundagai (it was tourist central) and had quite a few DNFs (or did not stops) but still cracked 50 for the day (all trads as I had no luck on multis today).
Have wanted to do this one for a while - after the two other caches I left in town were too busy I was keen to get this one. Drove past the park, so went back and wandered up the hill and along the gorge. This cache could have been a nightmare at this location, but was a quick find. Replaced as found, added a favourite and took a photo.

We are trying to get a badge ,the author ,from project GC for writing found log files of 100 words or more. Once we get this badge we will stop writing this. We are also trying to get badges for adding photos to our found logs .
We started caching in December 2019 and by January 2020 we were hooked. As we are on the road full-time, living in a caravan, caching fits in well with this lifestyle. It is taking us to places that we would normally not have gone. When we move to a new place we also look at what caches are in the area and how many days we will need to be there in order to get the caches we want.
Trackables that we have with us today are:

Out for a casual Sunday drive today, oh wait it is only Saturday, yeah we still done it anyways.
We left Wagga this morning and headed of to see what we could find and to have lunch at the Sir George Tavern, Jugiong, also to drop of some Trackables into some cache along the way. By the end of the day all our goals had been achieved.
This was my first port of call today, jumped from the train here on the way by just in time for this cache. There was a rock slide to the side however it did not hinder the train on it journey to where ever.
Found the cache after a little searching. I put in another 2 TB's. Cache us in good condition and still in it hiddy hole. I stamped the log, replayed it, then ventured down to the road to catch a ride on to the next spot.
Thanks Guys for this little adventure. Lol Donna

Day 3 of our trip, starting in Gundagai, we managed to pick up the last of the local caches we hadn't found in the past, with some great ones among them too. After 9 caches here it was time to head across to Canberra for the weekend.
This was really cool, we read the description and parked at the recommended spot, and walked up into the cutting. We were thrilled with the great location, and made use of a spoiler photo to make a quick find. With a secure cache here, we added one of our TBs to start its journey. TFTC!

Heading back home after 2 weeks of holidaying in NSW we grabbed a couple more in Gundagai to break up the journey.
We enjoyed our trek up into the cutting following the old line , except that is for the dead fox that has inconveniently died not to far from GZ. Pooeee!!!
Lucky for a spoiler pic which made our search so much quicker than it could have been, allowing us to sign the logbook and move on quickly.
Thanks The Emongs and Polliwogs for showing us this impressive cutting.

Hit the road out of Brisbane on Friday afternoon with Seff and Lennondayz29 to head to the Mega. We had our first overnight stop in Moree, spent Saturday caching our way to Dubbo for another overnight stop, and Sunday was spent working our way through more of the epic Seff-list all the way to Wagga.
We overshot GZ here, but at the wrong elevation. Seff double checked his list and realised he'd entered a parking waypoint, so Victor del Prado was quickly turned around and abandoned on the side of the road. Although it took us a little while to locate the cache, we all loved GZ. TFTC, a FP from me.

Dez (JezNDez), Lennondayz29 and I headed off on Friday from Brisbane, making our leisurely way south towards the Mega event in Queanbeyan. Our overnight stop last night was Wagga Wagga and, with an early start, continued our journey towards Canberra where we are scheduled for a few days of caching before the start of the event. Today was another cracking autumn day with sun shining and barely a cloud in the sky.
Wow, what a spot this is! Easily one of the highlights of our trip so far. Completely hidden and unexpected, it was so worth the stop here. Climbing up the short slope to the railway bed we followed the tracks towards GZ, wondering what a journey would have been like in the days this railway operated. At GZ I couldn't get the GPS to settle and ended up far to high on the precarious scree slope before returning to a more manageable location where the cache was found safe and well. Would not like to be searching here with the heat reflecting off these rocks on a hot summer day! TFTC

So having had far too little sleep, and at an hour at which I am normally total unaware of, I heard the call to arms - well my mobile alarm anyway and day two of our trip began.
Heading down south for the mega at Queanbeyan we are a team of three - two very experienced JezNDez, seffnjarah, and yours truly, the ancient arthritic apprentice, fresh from the fields of France.
A climb brought up onto the disused track - some of the rails are still there, and a walk along brought us to GZ.
After a little while the cache was located and the log signed.

With a free day and a new Geocaching promotion to collect some souvenirs, I decided on taking the trip out to Gundagai and cleanup the area for both GC and GCA. I started by finding some caches out the behind Gundagai which were along a nice scenic road across the countryside. Next I headed into town to avenge a few DNF’s and then to ‘Hungry Jacks’ for lunch. Afterwards, I headed into the main part of town and collected the rest in town. There were many great history lessons, that I enjoyed learning about along my travels today. I next headed to out to ‘Dog on the Tucker Box’ to find the one I missed last time I was here. I also bought a hat to add to my hat collection. To finish off and before heading home, I found a couple of caches in Coolac. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s for placing and maintaining the caches I found today and for allowing them to bring joy to me and others. TFTC’s

Found while visiting from Canberra. I got near the Gz and saw a great hiding spot halfway up the hill. I clambered up only to find that it was wrong. I checked a spoiler photo in an earlier log, clambered down and found it.

What an awesome spot for a cache. I love old things and this old cut out railway line did not disappoint. Parked the geomobile at the bottom with the family still inside enjoying the aircon, not quite hot yet but it’s getting there and strolled on up to GZ. Armed with information that there may be two caches in location I thought I’d at least aim for one. Looking, looking, looking, mmmm ok let me start again here and go there ... gotchya. Yeehar!!! This was the original container that was last signed by Bushfire back in feb 18. Ok, let’s look for the other one .... gotchya. It’s only a pity that it’s worth only one smiley. Great find, great place now to get back on that track winding back to Sydney. Tftc’s The Emongs and Polliwogs
Day eight, and the last day of our quick trip north. BettyBoo3747 and I spent today travelling from Yass to Beechworth. Breakfast in Jugiong, lunch in Holbrook, then afternoon tea in Beechworth..
We had a look for this one many moons ago, but have never been back.
Today on the way home it was our only unfound cache in Gundagai, so we detoured to GZ.
A nice walk along the rail line to GZ and the search started.
So many rocks that look like they have just been placed there!
Took a while, but BB finally spotted it.
Thanks, Robmc.

#15060. Last day of our week's break and travelling between Yass and Beechworth. Breakfast at Jugiong (yummo), lunch at Holbrook and onwards to home. Gathered up a nice little selection that were on the wrong side of the highway on the way north. 9 smilies today.
We had tried this one once before on an extremely hot day and walked way too far for it before throwing in the towel. Today we parked closer and had a lovely walk through the cutting before the hard work of finding the cache. I even clambered up to the tree and searched around there. Some good hiding spots but no cache. Down I came and in the end it was quite an easy find without even looking at Harrowang's spoiler photo. Funny about cache creep isn't it? Where Mr Harrowang is pointing is not exactly where we found it today, but close. So pleased to have a smilie face for this one. Oh, and it was the original cache we found. The new one must be extremely well hidden.
Thanks The Emongs

#3294 Wasn't sure which direction to attack this one but after studying the map we managed to park reasonably close to gz. We loved the short walk down the old railway alignment through the cutting spotting bits of track and railway spikes along the way. Once at gz the search began and soon enough Mr BGF spotted part of the green lid on the cache container. TFTC The Emongs and Polliwogs.
Really enjoyed the walk along the old tracks today. Cache found easily enough. Foggy start!
Very happy to be able to put a smiley face on the original log book this morning! We were last here in August 2016 and despite spending a long time looking we had to record a DNF. It seems there has been a replacement cache placed somewhere nearby, BUT like the previous finders, we uncovered the original and SL at 11.30am Took: photo of cache position Left: train key ring. Once again a pleasant walk along the old rail line and happy to have a positive result at GZ. #5253 TFTC The Emongs and Polliwogs
It was an early start to the day that saw Darksidedan and myself heading to Tumut for the day with a side trip of some Gundagai caches as well as we travelled through. I had been keen to head off for a caching trip and Tumut looked ideal and definitely didn't disappoint. The scenery as we traveled through the area was everything I had hoped it would be and the clear fast flowing rivers beautiful as they flowed through the middle of it all.
A long but very enjoyable day, so many highlights and although we covered a large area and many caches I'm pleased to know there are many more so a return trip sometime is definitely going to happen.
Last cache of the day and just enough daylight as we walked up. What a great location and loved walking along this cutting. Had noticed this was recently replaced so set about searching. I did overshoot gz originally so making my way back was glad of having to stop and look for good footing. Something court my eye and a few rocks removed and found the neatly tucked away cache. Opening the container it was soon obvious this was not the new but the old container. Log sign and have taken photos of the log as proof. I would have like to stay longer to look for the other newer cache but with loosing light by now and still a long drive home it had to be left not found. Thanks for the cache.

It was an early start to the day when I set out with Aquilus1 at 0600 on Sunday morning (04/01/2018) to cache Tumut with a side trip to Gundagai. In all we travelled 520kms and it took almost 16 hours to visit 70 plus caches with 65 finds. A long but very enjoyable day. Some of the highlights of the day included visiting Junction Bridge (a Truss Bridge built in the 1800s), Googarragandra River Suspension Bridge (Built in 2006 and Spanning 51..8 meters), Tumut River Grey-headed Flying Fox Colony, Tumut Rail Station and the Tumut River. We had a little time to also visit the Old Gundagai Jail built in 1859 and the Old Flower Mill built in the 1848. Aquilus1 took a photo of me at the Brungle Centenary Park using my poker to poke the cache out of its hiding spot. We had lunch at Gundagai McDonalds and snacks at Subway. This is a generic log due to the volume of all the caches that we found on the day. Thanks to Aquilus1 for a fantastic day of caching and thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches.
I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. As of 31st January 2018 my average was only 20 words per log, which seems close to the 100 target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After 2350 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including today), the average log length is just over 50. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my gaol before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.

Finally I have found the last unfound cache in this lovely area that we regularly stop at on our way to Sydney.
The ageing Bushfire did not follow his normal requirements when searching for a cache in this type of location.
Hot day, shorts and thongs, long grass and lots of loose rocks is not the ideal gear to wear to search for this guy.
Jeans, boots and a full covering of all body parts to keep the blood sucking mozzies at bay would be the way to go.
The good news is that the container and log are in perfect shape and the CO can rest assured that they don't have to check on this guy for a while as the last searcher suggested. Plus I gained a little unloved time here.
Why do people think something is missing because they cannot find it, and then Groundspeak send us (the CO) a note telling us we MAY have a problem!!!

Our first DNF here, and hopefully our last scoured the area, lifting loads of rocks. It looks like there has been another rockfall since maintenance was carried out. Think it needs a check by CO. If it is still here maybe difficulty rating should be raised? Find it strange that no one has searched for this since maintenance check in June! On our way to the Alexandra Mega. It’s a beautiful day, getting warm though We have bypassed Gundagai so many times and only stopped here this time because there was free camping available (and caches). We've missed out on a Lot! It’s a beautiful place with loads of history, much more than just “The Dog on the Tuckerbox”. The lookouts we've visited whilst caching have given us glorious views. Well worth the visit. TFTC
Replaced container and logbook right were GZ was old cache appears to be missing or buried under the rocks that have slid down the hill.

After the Australia 3-day orienteering champs in Wagga Wagga, I cached my way back to Canberra. I spent a good twenty minutes at GZ to no avail.

The first day on our Quest for the Golden Dragon Easter geocaching tour! We're also hunting Windmills and Gundagai was a target location. This was a very spooky location. No sooner had we reached the elevation above the cutting when the iPad just cut out. It wasn't out of power but it kept trying to restart unsuccessfully. Then Mrs Gaztek swallowed a fly! We are f#*^%¥!!! This whole trip revolves around the iPad. OMG. We made a half-hearted effort to brute force this cache but were freaked out by the occurrences. Chucked the towel in and, you wouldn't believe it, got back to the car and everything was working! Oh well. Another time perhaps. Cheers... Gaztek
Heading north for the Alice Springs Event at Easter we explored Gundagai and surrounds using geocaching as a guide and picking up a few caches on the way and this was one of them. An easy find near the rock slide. Took TB.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Thank you so much for the parking coordinates in the description otherwise we would have probably given up without knowing how to get to GZ!
The grass was so overgrown on either side of the track, that spotting the track was hard at first and we drove straight past it. We then used the coords and found it!
A nice walk up the hill and along the train track..... but then the cache gave us lots of troubles. We has 2 people looking for a good 15 mins or so coming up empty handed. My dad eventually gave up and walked back to the shade, but I knew this place was too rural for it to be missing and I was 100% confident I would eventually find it if I checked every single spot.
Eventually the cache showed itself! Very sneaky, it just seems to hide there perfectly and look natural.
Thanks Emongs, a tricky yet rewarding hide

On a two day caching trip with Ryan Girls and muggle starlight. Wow, was this a tricky one! Our youngest cacher and I had given up, so we walked all the way back to the car. But with no keys or shade from the sun, we trudged our way back uponly to meet the others who were on their way back, whooping with delight! I went back with muggle starlight and after a very generous hint, it was spotted! TFTC!!
On our way home from Tumut and thought we'd give this one a go. After walking up onto the line, we found the landslide and thought wow, so many possibilities. It took some time and was about to give up when the eldest found it. Phew, good luck persistence is the key.
We stopped to pick this one up on our way to Seymore, at GZ it didn't take too long before locating the hide, soon duties done and on our way back to the car we stopped against to pick up some great tasting wild plums along the track. Tasty . TFTC
No luck with the cache but an interesting place that would make an awesome rail trail. Thanks anyway Emongs.
We took the more conventional route and walked along the old railway line and looked high and low and under many rocks. There appears to have been a recent 'slip' of rocky shale in the vicinity of GZ, but who knows? We spent at least half an hour looking in likely and unlikely places, so obviously our eyes must be painted on today! Did love all the old railway remnants lying around and the almond trees in full Spring blossom. Posting photo. Our first DNF on our journey along the Hume Hwy from Wangaratta, Victoria to Yass, NSW.

I felt like getting out of town today, so I cast my eye over the geomap to spot a likely target & settled on Gundagai. After all the rain, the hills are a lovely shade of green & there was plenty of water in the rivers. It also wasn't cold, so apart from the occasional light shower, it was pretty much ideal conditions. Being Sunday, Gundagai was a bit on the sleepy side.
This one was another satisfying find. Clearly this is a tricky one for most, due to the many hiding spots. But a bit of persistence paid off. Great spot.

We walked along the track (or lack of track) for a while to where GZ was indicated and spent a long time looking all around under things and up the hill a bit in all the seemingly obvious places. Unfortunately we left empty handed.
(...several months pass...) At ****** last! ...spent yet another fruitless hour in the morning sun, and had literally given up, looked down to grab my bag, looked up... straight at the cache! Last time I'd been looking in all the wrong spots - this time my mobile provided an accurate ping, and I'd checked to see what size container I was looking for - but even so, still took last-second help from the almighty railway spirits!! (exchanged ladybird for precious squeaking duck)
Initially tried an enterprising approach from a close location. Lady membsec got into trouble on the slippery slope and eventually slid several metres to be saved by male membsec. The bruises and scrapes tell the story. We then reverted to a more traditional approach but after a long search came up empty handed. Very sad.
Day 2 of our Road Trip.
Fifth of nine for today.
I took an adventurous route to GZ. Then I read the last three logs were DNFs!?! Luckily we found this quickly as I was only giving it five minutes!

Came for the cache, and all I got was this lousy sunburn!
(Access to cutting and cache co-ords nice and easy... locating the cache as the sun set, not so easy. Returned next morning for 2nd attempt after reading through logs - could see this one has presented many a challenge beforehand... and for me too since I was again unable to find it even using some partial log 'clues' from others who have found this before... bugger!)

Did not find it we think it is under a rock fall very hard climb would of been good with the two trackables in it
Dropped in to do this geocache on my down to attend the Melbourne MEGA Event.
Beats me, turned everything over
