A midweek caching trip to Canberra, that's the life of a shift worker. Quickly packed and raced down to meet J+J.AU for some caching fun in Canberra. Freezing cold and wet but that doesn't stop a true cacher. After finding the right way to go it was a pleasant experience, one that is my favourite kind of caching! Favourite point from me.TFTC Wilbert67
Wilber67 and I were searching our heads to where the starting point is, eventually we had that sorted.Got head lamps on and off we went.We walked a good 990mts and thought this was not right, double backing and started again. My head lamp shiiitt it self and had to follow Wilbert. We finally arrived at GZ and soon located the hide .Log signed and headed back to the car.The heart got pumping for sure.TFTC and the adventure.
Good drain. Getting in is the tricky bit as there is a wall to climb and it’s extremely slippery. I’m lucky I didn’t tumble. The first Lightroom is incredible. And don’t get me started on the huge tunnel in that goes to the temple! Once there EE took a look in the spot it should have been and it wasn’t there. CO graciously let me log. Thanks.

Got here through the vast array of tunnels and made it to the temple. Looked under everything that the hint suggested and beyond but nothing contained anything but rubbish. Very good tunnels tho.
I had flown down from Brisbane to Canberra late on Thursday night to meet up with Dez (JezNDez) for an extended weekend break including an expedition in the Jagungal wilderness with the sole aim of hunting a FTF on a new virtual cache at Valentine Hut. After hiking a total of around 37km over Friday and Saturday and an overnight stop in Jindabyne Saturday night, we headed back to Canberra today for a full day of caching before I had to jump on the plane back home.
This has been somewhat of a nemesis cache for Dez and I. Back in April 2019 we were down here for the Queanbeyan Mega event and stopped in for a visit. Unfortunately we had not done our research on the actual location of the cache and were left staring vainly into the depths of the darkness from above. Once back at home, some online research eventually revealed the correct access to the cache and that information was stored away for a future visit.
November 2020 saw us down this way again, as we made a mad drive down from Brisbane to claim the FTF on a different virtual cache on Mt Jagungal. On our way through we passed close by, but tempting as it was, our time was limited and we again had to leave it for another day.
With plenty of time up our sleeve today, there was no way we were going to let the opportunity pass by. With the route reconnoitred online, we made for the entrance. After some initial difficulty getting down to the entrance itself, it was relatively plain sailing as we followed our noses and some basic instructions found on the internet.
Eventually we found ourselves at GZ where we struggled for some time to make sense of the hint. After searching various locations, we eventually narrowed down to the only place possibly matching the hint, however unlikely the location was for the longevity of a cache. After some poking and prodding and avoiding the broken glass strewn about, Dez laid her hands on the cache and we celebrated finally getting our names in the logbook.
Our adventure was not yet over. In our search for the cache Dez had spotted a rather large echidna wedged into a corner up against the widest concrete barrier. We initially thought it was dead, but a tentative prod with a stick soon got a reaction that our friend was indeed alive and well. Obviously he had heard us coming up the tunnel and had taken evasive action and burrowed into the accumulated gravel. It seemed unlikely that our friend would be able to get himself up and over the barrier and out of the maze of drains on his own. But the problem was we had no gloves or any other manner to carry a spiky passenger such as this. A quick scout around the area revealed the only possible method of carriage was the broken plastic seat of a chair that had been washed downstream.
The next question was how to get our friend into his transport. There was a heap of debris around him which precluded simply scooping him up, and his long powerful claws ensured he stayed wedged down into his present position. A further search of the area located a star picket to help gently lever and extract him into a better position. After many, many attempts we were finally able to manoeuvre him into the seat, but he was not content to sit still, instead constantly forcing apart the crack in the seat with his long nose and claws. After a stop to reposition him, he was finally happy to sit still enough to carry him all the way out, although the return journey seemed to last forever carrying our prickly load. Reaching daylight again was a relief and we all plonked down onto the grass while Dez made contact with wildlife services to arrange a possible health check. Surprisingly they advised just to leave him there. Our friend had already started to burrow himself into the dirt and grass so we left him in situ as we headed back to the car to clean up some of the mud we had accumulated in our rescue efforts. TFTC

Well this was a very interesting cache definitely worthy of a favourite point.
Decided to grab this one (along with starting the multi) to see what the Secret Squirrels drain would be like. What a experience that was! Knew where the start of the tunnel was from much research into this topic so off we went.
Only a slight slip on the way down and another slip on the way out. It's nothing but a flesh wound, no broken bones!
Off we went, nice to finally be able to walk in the tunnels and soon we reached the infamous Temple of Doom.
Quite a room here, I know of one that rivals it's size in Belconnen but that one is half full of water!
We came prepared with a replacement cache since it seems the previous one vanished. So after talking with the CO about the correct location, we wedged the new bison back into it's hidey hole so it doesn't go missing again.
Certainly a adventure that's for sure. Now I have explored another great tunnel!

#740 Turtle and I did some surveillance on this one a week or two ago but we were unsure where to enter. After finding a visible junction and not finding access here I resorted to using satellite maps to attempt to find another entrance but we didn’t chase this idea for too long. After confirming our entry point with CO via messages and realising one of the spots we’d looked at on the maps was indeed our entry point we headed back out today. We ventured in both with head torches and some spare torches at the ready. With no data down there we were doing our best to make sure we were in the right place before we got too far down the wrong path, but everything seemed alright for the most part. We made the most of time down here picking up some needed info as well as having a thorough search for this hide. We were quite unlucky here with the hide and appearing to be quite elusive. Logging as found with permission from the CO, hope to return in future to find it. Thanks Tankengine for the hide and bringing us down here for the adventure
#2649 DeadThief and I have had a previous attempt here but were left in a quandary as to how to gain access. What we had hoped was the entry turned out to be a roadblock. A message to the CO confirmed that we were kind of on to the right path and helped out with information to put us on the the correct track. Then the real adventure began. Underground and with no wi-fi we were initially unsure that we were at GZ but the view above seemed to confirm it. We conducted a fair search before eventually heading further in. At the next available opportunity we scaled high enough to get phone coverage to ascertain that we were indeed at the correct spot further back. While in the general area we ventured far enough to collect some important information for another ‘ahem’ Multi and then retraced to the GZ for another more thorough search. This time on hands and knees and belly we did our best to scratch around every possible crevice and came up empty handed.
A photo of our search zone and a message again to the CO at least verified we were in the right area but we were still unable to locate the physical cache. Logging now as found with permission. Thanks Tankengine for a fun tour into the underground. Overall between this and the Multi some 1-2 hours in the tunnels and an estimated maybe 2-3 kilometres travelled (we did backtrack a couple of times for phone service). A favourite from me! Cheers!!

On a hot afternoon of geocaching we had heard this one involved tunnels so keen to get out of the sun and do it. Donning torches we approached an entrance. Got to a fork which we luckily got some signal to guide our way further we then arrived at GZ. It took a bit of searching at GZ and confirming we were in the right location before it was seen out of the corner of our eye. It was well wedged, but with a bit of strength it popped out. A place I would never have ventured in before. Thanks for the great spot TankEngine. A favourite from us!
Third time lucky. Thankfully I had a pointer from the cache owner that made my task a bit easier. I was expecting a much bigger container, and now I guess I know what a scuba container is. I went in, kept left, found the chamber and after poking around a bit I found a bit of glass and then the container. Then I realized I once again left my pencil in the car. Good old autistic executive functioning. So I photographed the container.
Thanks very much. It was an interesting cache and an interesting place. Thanks for the fun.

I did a bit of research on this location and found a web site that has a map of the location. http://www.uer.ca/urbanadventure/www.urbanadventure.org/members/drains/uacity/secretsq/secrets.htm
So I got a lift to where I figured I could get in, but I could not figure out how to get into the canal near the entrance, well I could get in, but probably could not get out again. I need better shoes. Or a ladder or rope.

I think from reading the past logs that I might be in the right place but too high.
Ok now I understand why I was unable to find from my vantage point! Maybe another day...
This one has been on my radar for quite some time. I would not do this one alone. This afternoon a group of six of us came saw and conquered. It was really great fun to do. Not sure of the actual start point but we fortunately headed in the right direction. Most of us searched the spot before MK came up with the goods. A definite FAV for me.
TFTC Oh this one was so much fun! I got a call I just couldn't refuse, so rearranged my afternoon so I could accompany Betty and Marmaduke Rothschild, MASEK786, aye_gee_71, and lag2006 on a little adventure underground. Never done anything like this before and pretty certain I would not achieve this on my own. The photos helped, and the hint was spot on. The hardest part was figuring out how to walk in. Thanks for another great cache Tankengine, a favorite from me.
Found with Marmaduke Rothschild, Marmaduke's better half, contesta, LAG06 and mubinkhokhar on a fabulous winter's day. This one took a while to find the entrance and was an interesting walk in. TFTC
Couldn’t see into where I suspected to be, it’s definitely a challenge, but I might come back later to conquer!
There'd been a lot of talk of this cache recently so I had to tag along to see what it was all about. Dwarf Exploder, Flintstone's, sebass14 and I - led by dty73 (who had already been here, done that) - met up and made out way to GZ.
Rain the previous night didn't deter us, though something else did almost immediately - what was that noise? And THAT one!!? Deterred, we pressed onward, and the screams became louder. I can't say I was too worried - there were two people ahead of me and two behind so I wasn't going to the be the first eaten, and I was sure I could run faster than most of the group so maybe someone's appetite would be sated before they caught up to me?
Turns out Tankengine has a wicked sense of humor and arrived ahead of time to set the mood. Lovely. So long as he's not wearing a clown outfit, I'm cool with it.
Without light nor GPS it was pretty much an ordeal getting to GZ, but it was a relief to arrive. As the mate of the first person who drank whatever came out of that cow's udder said, who does this? ** It's an interesting place that you're unlikely to want to go into on purpose, but impressive at the same time. By this stage I had no interest in finding the cache itself, so Dwarf Exploder signed on our collective behalf as Ghostbusters. The container is very well secured if you do it right, but even if it does escape when you're down here with us, you'll float too.
While reports of sebass14's death have been greatly exaggerated, I did fear for dty73's health on the uphill sections.
I have to admit to a number of head injuries, next time I'll try and not be so tall. But who am I kidding, I want to go back in there again? I suppose I would so long as Tankengine isn't lurking about, waiting for us.

Now it was the real tunnels turn. As per the small group arragments we meet at 9 and dty73 was so nice to guide us giving us confidence at every entry and trun. And what a cool experience the tunnels were, it was pretty awesome to be down here. The creepy noises when we entered and walked in the dark for the fist few hundert meters, which then turned out to be the CO waiting in the dark for our arrival! Wow! Made this an even better experience. Thank you for coming along with us TE and dty73. The hide is a tough one and who knows if we would have found it without help. Also having the confidence that we didn't walk down a wrong pipe for such a long way, was very helpful and just in general doing this in a group, with a guide, made for an very enjoyable rather than disturbing experience. I wont forget exploring these tunnels any time soon a FAVpoint to remember it for ever.
Thank you Tankengine for putting the cache down here back in the day and for keeping it maintenanced.

I've been wanting to do this one for AGES! This was an early DNF for me back in 2015 when I tried looking for the cache above sea level. Some time later it was another miss when the group hunt got called off due to the rain. I was determined to do this so I put the call out on Facebook and soon a small posse was assembled to venture down into the dark. I wanted to do this one as a group as I was scared what would happen if I ran into a gang of street toughs graffitiing down there. As it turned out it was very luck I had company...
Dty73 helpfully volunteered as our experienced guide, with the group consisting of myself, Sebass14, Froggycache, Flinstone's, YeahYeahNah, GoldenMile44, It_Only_Rains_on_Weekends, Panic!, TheXYZ, My Computer is Broken, Commodore64, The Olds, The Youngs, The Inbetweeners, RascalRabbit58, Up_is_Down, Too Many Micros, Cacherino and GiantNano. We chose our path, ducked our heads, watched our step, and we were on our way.
It wasn't long on our journey that we stared to hear some strange banging sounds! Our fearless guide was quite concerned but we continued on regardless. Soon the sounds became more frequent and varied, strange screams and cackling could be heard. Theories spread through the group as to what it could be, kids up to no good seemed the most likely scenario, and with such a large group we still felt safe. The further and further we ventured into the dark the louder and more frequent the sounds became, and then it happened... the most terrifying sight anyone could ever see in the dark... Tankengine!
It seems posting our plans on plans on Facebook had tipped off the CO so he hid in the dark waiting with a speaker of scary sounds so he could scare us. It was at this point that Sebass14 sadly died of a heart attack and we had to leave his body in the drain. Froggycache was kind enough to leave a note on the body explaining what had happened for the next group looking for this cache. Hopefully they arrange to have his body returned.
Finally we were at GZ, not the first time for me, but the first time at the right level. This is a very cool spot to visit and take many a photo, very fun to do in a group. Finding the cache took a little time, and there was some concern that it may have washed away, but there it was, just a little dirty. Logbook was signed using the group name Ghostbusters.
All in all, this was one of my all time favorite caching experiences. The area and the adventure to get there is really something out of the ordinary, and big thanks to Dty73 for coming down here again to guide us, and massive thanks to tankengine for not only placing this cache, but hiding down here to make this such a memorable day. I can't favorite point this cache enough! One of the best ever!

This was the real beginning of a great day. DTY73, Aquilus1, Greyhams and the CO took a long long walk to get this cache. First experience in this environment and I coped ok. No spiders so that was a plus. Thanks for a great day.
This cache has been on the list for so long, but today was the day. An intrepid group of cachers set out to complete the Tunnel of Terror so this one was a must, only Joolay and myself had not logged this one already but the trip to here was a good warmup for the terror that was to follow.
**This Cache**
We came here twice in previous years without any luck finding a starting point. With log clues we came back on two more occasions early this year but still could not find a way in. We then contacted the CO thinking that the entry point was recently inaccessible.
The CO assured us that we had the wrong location and provided us with the start coordinates. Back we went again. We were horrified (terrified and traumatised) with what we saw and may need to undertake to earn a smiley face.
Certain that the CO had given us the wrong coordinates we went back to him. He assured us that we had the right location, and said 'just stay left and you can't get lost' and bring a torch. We have been back thrice since but each time it was too dark, too cold, too scary, too dangerous and last week it was just too slimy.
After calling the CO for cache advice this morning he noted that he was in the tunnel on his way to this cache. In the background it sounded like he was with a large group of very jolly happy sounding people. OK - so it must be safe to do today and maybe not so scary after all.
SO, after our walks along the Molonglo and Murrumbidgee Rivers we thought 'why not?' If the CO and friends have made it out safely today then there's hope for us.
Mid afternoon we were still hot from our second walk, we had our torches, found walking sticks and if there were no ambulances or signs saying 'Danger - keep out' then we would give it a go.
So, in we went on the left side, walked really fast, but very carefully, and the tunnel seemed to go on forever. Relieved when we reached the 'hatch' the hunt was on. One person thought that the hatch was the manhole above and wanted to climb up. Given the 'T' rating (for Traumatise, Terror and/or Terrible) there was no way it was going to be up there. Fortunately it was a very quick find once the other version of hatch was explored. It took us 28 min to walk in, take photos and find the cache, chat etc.. and just under 9 min to get out again. WOW! our eighth 'attempt' to make it UNDER the hatch.
We laughed and laughed that in our 60s we are still doing such 'crazy' fun activities. Who would have thought. Worth a favourite point for getting us into this place - finally. TFTC Tankengine.
**Our Day**
Today we were sticking around town picking up a few stray caches on our bucket list. First we headed to the Molonglo River Fyshwich for TE's 'Amazon Adventure'. This walk was 2.81 km from Gladstone Street but it took us 1 hr 38 min return trip by the time we cut our way through approx. 150m of blackberries. Then we needed to climb over, under, around scrub then searched for the cache with just a total ascent/descent of 34m.
The second walk was to pick up TE's puzzle cache 'Sprinkler Shed' on the Murrumbidgee River. This took 2hrs and 15min for an easy flatish walk of 8.7 kms with just 115m ascent/descent return trip. We also enjoyed seeing wombats and having a picnic lunch by the flowing river.
We belatedly added a third short walk, inspired by TE, to Panic Patch. This one had us traumatised for a long time but today we conquered our fears. The terror only lasted 37 mins with a total ascent/descent of just 18m. While the GPS had the distance walked at 2.13km we don't think this is correct as we did loose satellite access most of the way in the tunnel. But we must say that it did feel like at least 1.5 kms - so who knows.
Many thx Tankengine for a Tankengine inspired day )

While the GPS had the distance walked at 2.13km we don't think this is correct as we did loose satellite access most of the way in the tunnel. But we must say that it did feel like at least 1.5 kms - so who knows.
Many thx Tankengine for a Tankengine inspired day )
This is a cache I had heard a lot about, and had been very keen to go and do for a long time. There was always talk about doing it as a group but then it was never planned and it was yet to happen. So when the CO mentioned he was going to visit today with BoujeeBunny, I was keen to join in, along with dty73 and her so very able and nimble footed son addictedgamer.
Definitely this cache did not disappoint and it was also quite good to be going in with others who have been here before. The walk was fairly direct despite the choices and was full of so much along the way. A really great morning and very pleased to have completed this now. A little 'interesting' to travel a path alone as I willingly experienced but all roads seem to lead up together and was pleased to be able to get to the cache and back dry.
Many thanks BB and TE for including me in on their adventure today and to D73 and ADG for the company as well. I hadn't read the hint so searched for the cache in all the wrong places once there, but slowly with a few prompts did manage to find it, eventually! Definitely right up there with some of my most favourite caching experiences, Thanks for the cache Tank, a FP for sure!

I first checked this one out about a month ago on a spontaneous night time caching trip, but soon realised I was not going to have any luck that night. After some research I discovered the “in” and realised exactly what was required, but was not particularly keen to attempt on my own.
Was very lucky today to have an escorted trip with CO, dty73 and Aquilis1 and it proved to be much less daunting than I first thought. Thanks all for the company today, and favourite point for a very different and enjoyable caching experience!

Today we went looking for the entrance however it appeared to be fenced off for maintenance purposes. A few years ago we went looking for the entrance but didn't realise how far we needed to go. Today we took the time to search extensively and obviously initially went in all the wroing directions - go figure. That said we will confirm this with the CO that we have found the correct location to be sure to be sure.
**1 May 2019** - we have today confirmed with the CO that we did not find the correct location and is also not fenced off as we had thought. The CO, as always, has been most helpful with directions and great hints that we will know next time where to go to find the entrance.
We have been eyeing this cache off for many years coming back for a look at least three times but never getting past stage 1. We also didn't think back then to ask for help.
We don't know when we will back in this area but hopefully next time is the last time. Can't believe we would go to all this trouble just for a cache but I guess it is a Tankengine cache after all - lol

AddictedGamer and I have been looking at this one a long time!! When we first started we came here and looked all around until we looked closer at the description and logs and realised we were at the wrong level.
I have talked to many other Cachers about doing this one, but we never seemed to get our act together, so when Tankengine and I were chatting about what school holiday fun there was around, this came up. TE needed to do maintenance and so a plan was hatched.
Such a responsible mother I am!! With AddictedGamer and the Geodaughter we met Tankengine at another cache first then came and parked near the entrance to the tunnel system.
It was an easy walk through and I was confident in the direction we were going, but it was comforting to have the CO with us.
Ah, being down here brought back many good memories of my childhood and a couple of stories were shared as we straddled the water trickling through tunnels.
At GZ, Tankengine grabbed the cache and replaced it with a new one. We took a few photos then it was time to walk back again.
We all had a great time and this deserves a favourite point for the fun, adventure, memories and awesome GZ. Tftc Tankengine!!!

Came in here with dty73 and co. to do maintenance on this cache. Cache itself was muddy on the outside, and the log has seen some water, but was still OK. Anyways, have replaced the container, and it has a new log! This time plastic paper, so it should last a few more floodings! Old log attached.
After contacting the OP we searched further a field for the entrance. This proved to be quite fun and easier than I expected. Well worth coming back and tackling. A favourite.
We found this a couple of years ago, complete with our scuba, caving and snorkel gear. Back today with Hogwarts85 for a re-living of our Indiana Jones epic adventure. Although we thought we could remember the exact location, we had no luck today. The kids had a great time. So cool on a hot day

Not seeing anything tied and hanging and grass is completely clear, holes free so no luck. And then I read some of the last logs. Well I don't know where the entrance is and I have no sense of direction so not doing this alone.
Well a bit of a story on this cache! Over two years ago in January of 2016 I was here specifically for a cache that I had spotted one day while exploring the map. It was a cache that sounded like lots of fun and something that I have always been interested about.
Turns out while "attempting" and DNF'in this cache a few years ago I actually walked straight past this one without realising! I had no idea it existed and was too busy following my clues and GPS!
Some time later I spotted it on the map and the name of the cache instantly rang a bell, I know what that is..... a very good name for this cache!
So today I finally decided I had put it off for long enough and decided to just come down south again and attempt to find this bugger.
I got to GZ, which really does fit the 1.5 Terrain star, and found the cache pretty quickly within a few minutes once I first realised I had interpreted the clue wrong.
Not too sure why this cache has been unloved for over a year though! If you really put it into perspective and think about it, it can be a bit of a walk in the park if your willing.
Also EXTREMELY surprised that it had lasted the entire of 2017 in that spot! Strange how some caches go missing yet something like this is just pure gold and works a treat.
Thanks for the cache Tankengine! Love, love, love! Big favourite point added! Shame this idea gets rejected for publishing these days

Sunday 12 February 2017 - an overcast muggy Summer's day that finished up with welcome light rain mid afternoon after 40c+ the previous day. Back again today to find the entrance but without luck. However I am not sure that I would attempt this one unless it was a group search as I'm scared of getting lost after reading some of the past blogs. Will try again soon.
Found while doing Tunnel of Terror nearby with the Australia Day Explorers.
We had a bit of a break here.
Thanks for the cache. Getting us to places you wouldn't think of usually.

Back in 2013 I got to GZ and couldn't find anything. As a total n00b, I was looking in the wrong spot. Perhaps I was fooled by the terrain rating. Today I was one of a group of 22. LuckyL10n made the find. I signed the log for all of us. Rather than filling the log with 22 names, I wrote Tunnel Walkers - Australia Day Explorers. So there's still room in the log.

Kittykatch put out the call for people interested in doing the Extreme Challenge - Tunnel of Terror. This one was kinda on the way. Over 20 of us went in, conquered our fears, found the cache and really cute little frogs, spiders, slime, cockroaches, crickets and interesting graffiti.
I'm not sure I would have had the courage to do it alone, but in such a big group it was really fun.
Thanks TE for placing a cache that challenged me in a new way and thanks KK for organising the caching expedition.

What better way to celebrate Australia Day than hanging out with 22 (25 including the safety crew) geocaching mates as we tackle a big adventure! Three caches for me today - two of them incidental to the main game - the tunnel of terror multi! An exciting time - lots of kms walked, many spiders brushed away, and a few near misses in slippery pipes.
Second cache of the day and it seemed silly not to look for it as we were walking right past it. LuckyL10n made the find after a few minutes - it was in a logical place, although I would have used gloves! ZQX signed on our behalf. Thanks Tankengine - glad I had friends along for this one!

Went out today with team Australia Day Explorers to do the Extreme Challenge - Tunnel of terror and grabbed this one on the way. tftc Tankegine great hide and so much fun!
Found with The Matetrix and 23 other great geocachers (above and below) on Australia Day. The first step of several for the morning. Had a great time, what an adventure. Special thanks to KittyKatch for organising the hunt. The only downer was no bats. Hopefully though they've found better a better bat cave. TNLNSL TFTC
I had a DNF on this one in 2013, because I couldn't find the entrance, but now today, in a group of 22 geocachers we walked past this one and I was finally able to log this find. Along with the other 22, I am part of the "Tunnel Walkers - Australia Day Explorers' signature. Otherwise, we would have filled the log, and the CO would have had to come visit here again. This route was okay; no wet feet here today. Lots of graffiti where others have been before us, and although there were a few interesting spiders, etc, they kept to themselves. This was lots of fun and good to do in company. TFTC Tankengine.
Found with a bunch of geocachers (25) who were attempting the Tunnels of Terror Cache and thought we could make a grab for this one too. We signed the log as the 'Australia Day Explorers' and as the organiser of the expedition I list them all here: Kittykatch, Darzee Di, metoo, charli-bear, AngelG27,The S's, ScruffyBlake, Sithound, ZimbaW, Goldenwattle, ZQX, TikvaNZ, Lindachris31, sebass14, isopeda, MrDamage, LuckyL10n, Lokipagan, Fox in Jox, IamCoust, and The Matetrix, with GrimRaider, ACTchil and Boot65 supervising and acting as a safety crew [I am missing one name and hope to add in later]. I have had a fabulous morning sloshing around in the drains. Thanks again TE - another FP from me

Found while doing the nearby 'Extreme Challenge - Tunnel of Terror' with 20+ others on a mission organised by KittyKatch. It took a few minutes to find. It was eventually found in a spot I had already 'looked'! Exactly where the hint said it should be. I had naively attempted this once before. I arrived at GZ and only then realised the D/T rating. I explored around for an entrance but not nearly far enough. Thanks to today's mission it is a pleasure to have crossed it off the list - and a fun experience too. TFTC.

We had previously attempted Tunnel of Terror but not gotten past WP1. We had made it this far on that attempt but clearly not realised there was a cache here! Luckily today, a number of others in the Australia day tunnel attack were on the ball and made sure we stopped here to grab this on the way. A bit of a hunt but eventually the cache was found and signed on behalf of the group so as not to use up valuable log space . Thanks Tankengine
With a big group of eager explorers having fun with headtorches in long, cylindrical, head-high things, we stopped at GZ to find this cache. With 20 people searching, it still took a few minutes, but the container was found. Signed as the Australia Day Explorers, we returned the container to its hidey hole and continued on with our intrepid journey. TFTC TE
Found 10:35 am with LuckyL10n doing the honours. And along with all the other Australia Day explorers.
Given the log book was limited and there were 22 teams in this group I suggested a single entry to LuckyL10n and therefore his name was placed along with the above Australia Day explorers.
Was this now a cache to remember, where to start. About 3 weeks back I'd had been out here before above ground to look for the cache, not realising then that cache was not your usual cache. After checking out the surrounds and top concrete hatch area, I started to read logs and got an inkling that it wasn't quite where I was. I called geobuddy LuckyL10n and he confirmed that it was as I suspected. I had then done a search for an entrance even crossing Athlon Drive and going to one spot which we passed by in today's journey. Oh well I thought it's getting too late and we didn't know where the entrance was as I had LuckyL10n still on the phone I gave up. That then brings me to three days ago or so when an email came through about the tunnel of terror challenge, so that caused a dilemma as I had planned to return Australia Day eve back to the coast. But how can I pass up the opportunity and be able to knock off Panic Patch at the same time. So I attended like 24 others at the entrance which I now knew where it was. Of the 24 others, three were staying top side for safety and 1 of them Boot65 who had done it before had come along for the laugh.
Now we arrived at GZ this was kind of comical with so many bodies looking around here, there under this that and another object. I'd say some pretty gross objects were probably moved during this but LuckyL10n as it turned out managed to be in the right patch and persevered sufficiently to locate the cache. What a beaut find with a cheer from everyone. Team members I can recall are Zqx, KittyKatch, Grimraider, TikaNz, LuckyL10n, Fox in Jox, geokid, Sitehound, Zimbaw, Lokipagan, Goldenwattle, Imacoust, Angel27, Thematrix, Darzee Di, Isopedia.
Thanks for the cache.

While completing a nearby multi we had to stop for this one on the way. Even with a small team of 22 (the Australia Day Explorers - I was member #20 ) it took us a little while to track this one down. I think it was LuckyL10n that tracked it down. I would NOT have attempted this on my own and it was very fun traveling with a large social group. Now its off up the hill to get the clues for the multi (oh, My!) Thanks for the cache, Tankengine.

#6143 - 10:35; After an earlier unsuccessful attempt to find this cache, I was back today with a large group we named the Australia Day Explorers, who were doing the Tunnel of Terror multi. Being a bit the wiser from my earlier attempt, I was better prepared for what to expect today and after a bit of searching, managed to get my hands on the sneaky little cache. Signed my name, but in the interests of brevity and to alleviate the need for a maintenance log following our visit, ZQX signed for the rest with the group name.
Found during our Australia Day attack on the tunnel of terror. 25 cachers set off on an adventure and grabbed this one on the way through.

My adult geo-son was in town and, as a reminder of his reckless teenage years, we ventured into the tunnels beneath Kambah and Wanniassa which was once his domain, after having first established the above-ground coordinates reference for this cache. In defiance of the gathering heavy grey clouds we ventured forth, entering the tunnels at the obvious place and taking the self-evident turn from the main line of tunnels. What took a lot of time was searching for the cache at the GZ, but it was eventually found almost exactly on the coordinates - I should never doubt the accuracy of Tankengine's coordinates. It is amazing that the cache holder stays snug in its crevice in defiance of rain-induced torrents. It was duly returned to its hidey-hole and wedged in place, ready to withstand the ravages of the next downpour.
The log is dry in spite of the heavy water flows resulting from the spring and early summer rains. Thank you Tankengine for the challenge of this cache and the opportunity for father-son bonding!

Tank Engine...master of the creative hide...went down with my mentor Green Martian for the second time and success after a bit off searching we found it great hide one of the best...
If there is a cache in a geocachers bucket list, this cache is it. Second time down in the temple of doom, first time a week before but alas no cache. The temple had its fair share of water which most likely concealed the cache and sure enough after the 2nd attempt cache found. This was a late night find, very exciting walking deep under civilization, wandering thru dungeons and long tunnels, tftc. A great cache for cache first timers 'Survivors' and 'Nighthawk' this will keep them interested in caching for many a year
We had looked at this cache back in 2014. We had checked out a couple of possible entry points, but with the sounds of many voices in the distance in the tunnels, we decided to leave it and consider this another day. After confirmation from the CO that we had indeed found the correct starting point, it has taken us just over 2 years to get around to challenging ourselves with this adventure.
With camping, caving and snorkelling gear packed, we set of as intrepid adventurers.
We began our journey in the late autumn afternoon, aware that daylight hours were not going to be too important for this one. Turning off the torch a few times had us in total darkness.
With no GPS signal along the way, we initially overstepped our mark by a couple of hundred metres, and then, with no daylight revealing itself, we headed back to what we assumed was GZ.
At GZ, we admired the history and the artistry, and then set down to business. Knowing that the CO had done a caching run on this one just a matter of days earlier, meant that we could be fairly sure of making a find if we did indeed have the right area.
The description led us to understand that this would not necessarily be an easy find. After much searching....a good half hour, we came up with a very echoing cry of happiness from Mr Domsky who had made the find. The trip out was uneventful, but we did spot a beautiful fresh-water crab in the tunnel.....see the photo. We have never seen a fresh-water crab before, and did know they even existed. He was quite polite and let us get a snapshot (attached) before he scuttled off.
Thanks Tankengine for this adventure and for the inspiration from "Panic" who inspired the journey.
We loved it. A definite favourite.

We had given this one a go, but had no luck at all. Didn't fancy doing too much digging, for obvious reasons, but after a good tip from Tankengine we headed back in for a second try. We found it fairly quickly, but think the hint might need to be changed due to some recent "upgrades". A fun cache and a great idea. A tip for future cachers - keep an eye out for the mummified cat!
Set out to find a couple of geocachers today, this was my second attempt after a long wait. Thought I found the entrance to lead me to GZ but was denied. Will have to try gain another time.
This was my second attempt after a long wait. Thought I found the entrance to lead me to GZ but was denied. Will have to try gain another time. Can you confirm if this is still active and if so, can you please give me a hint to where the entrance maybe.
The only find of the afternoon but the sixth overall for the day. I could easily write a TFTC log but that wouldn't do this one justice and wouldn't make for an interesting story for the CO and 7 watchers! I had been a little worried about attempting this one but after finding information on the net, it calmed my fears a little. In the end, the biggest fear I had to overcome was that of my mother's!
So today before swimming training, we parked near the entrance and my dad and I checked out whether it would be reasonable to attempt it today. It was as there was no water in the drain. Armed with a torch and the promise to telephone my dad whenever possible, I headed in and jogged down to GZ. I reached the first chamber fairly quickly and was soon on my way to GZ. I had a good idea of where I was headed having been in here doing the multi cache on a previous occasion. After about 15 minutes or so, I arrived at GZ and began my search. GZ was truly awesome, so I took a few photos on my camera. After a bit of a search, I found the container. As the last log says, the logbook was soaked and completely unusable so I replaced it with a fresh one with my signature! I also took a picture of the old one for good measure. I don't know how long this new one will survive as the O-ring was destroyed. TFTC and the adventure Tankengine!

Went right where my GPS was taking me and found a brief case, thought for a moment that is was a clever container but no just a piece of rubbish. Had a look but no joy, read through the logs and realised I was at the wrong altitude
We parked near GZ and made our way over. Started searching on top of the structure, underneath it and on the sides. Saw no possible hiding spots. I had a quick read of other logs and realised it's IN there... How on earth do you get in: squeeze through or is there another entrance!?
Later on in the day while I was doing some other caches I noticed a possible entrance. I've also done a bit of research and know for certain (hopefully) on how to get to the cache. Oh boy, I'm looking forward to this adventure!

Found with Cacheoar.
I attempted this cache once before with SecretSquirrel-BJC but we had no luck on that occasion. Back again today with Cacheoar (and a few tips from previous finders) and we had the cache in hand very quickly.
The cache log was dripping wet and definitely needs replacing. I squeezed water out of the log but the paper was impossible to unrol/sign. Have photos as evidence if required. TFTC

Found on a nice afternoon bash with SdL (though he's already found this one). Well, what can I say. An awesome cache, this was. SdL and I were planning to get this one this time last year, but for some reason "forgot". Then SdL called me today and told me that we were going to buy an SD card for my new GPS, then we were going to get a cache that, he knew, that I would like. When we pulled up at the entrance to this one - I was impressed, I was going to like this one after all. Followed SdL's lead to the cache. By the time we were at GZ, our feet were hurting, but we were still fascinated by the area. Always wanted to do this type of thing. SdL always loves taking this path to the cache, though it would've been better to do it last week, when it was 40+ degrees. Once at GZ, it was luckily a very quick find. This cache hadn't received a find for 10 months until we got there. Nicely hidden, that shouldn't got walkabout any time soon. A very cool cache that I enjoyed a lot - not everyday where you get this type of challenge. TFTC TE!
I returned for a second attempt at this. I had studied Google maps and thought I had spotted the entrance across the other side of Athllon Drive, but no, I found that route blocked off by bars. This one has beaten me. [:(!]
A helpful neighbour saw us and dropped a hint on how to nab the cache, maybe another day in a different outfit
We found the drain concrete cover. After searching all around it unsuccessfully we read the logs and found that others had assessed it through a drain. We walked around but couldn't see an opening into the drain, so gave up. Sounds like more than 1.5 stars for terrain.
I searched for this a when it was first launched and had no luck. I put it down to my general inability and patience to find micros.
This time I read some logs, which gave the game away, and realised this was linked to one of my all-time favourite caches.
It was a joy to be back there again. TFTC.

1562. Found with FurfacesLL, Mr Chalk IT Up and previous finders, shinydragon and the proton, not that they could offer much help. After getting over some distracions of golf balls and other debris, we got serious with our search. We were just about to phone the TE help line when the sneaky little container was discovered and we were on our way again. Thanks everyone for the great company and organising, and TE for a very interesting adventure, especially on a warm day.
Found this cache with Shiny Dragon, Proton, Boot65 and FurfaceLL. Thanks for the great day out. Thanks for the cache Tankengine. Cheers
The mission to collect the tunnel caches was struck with Boot65, Chalk it up, The Proton and Shiny Dragon and with anticipation the brave ones set off into the dark. The ground crew (those not so brave) sat top side keeping them on track and provided some well appreciated transport back to the parking area. The trekkers soon arrived at GZ and could be heard quite clearly coming up the drain by the ground support crew. Seeing the team below was not so clear though. After much discussion and searching the cache was soon located and then the team moved off up the tunnel to see where it took them. Thanks for a great day Boot65, Chalk it up, The Proton and Shiny Dragon. TFTC Tankengine.
think the difficulty should be at five just had to medicate for a toe infection swimming with Zebra and Eland poop last month, not interested in trudging through sewage in such a condition. Wont go back to this one, just not interested, but definitely an awesome and fun idea. tftc
We have been wanting to do this one for ages and sitting at home today we decided that the weather looked good for an attempt. Having previously scouted out the area we had a good idea how to approach this one. We parked close to the "insertion point" and made the interesting journey to GZ. Feeling very adventurous we began our search of the GZ chamber of terror which felt like eternity with no real concept of time except for a very narrow portal in the ceiling indicating that the sun was slowly disappearing. We resorted to the hint but it really didn't help. We were very determined and not about to leave without logging a find. Eventually Miss Stormcatcher went back to a previously searched nook and made the find ! We followed the cool breeze out a different way which will help us on another adventure.
Thanks Tankengine for the amazing adventure that really did go against everything our parents told us not to do as a kid but with a bit of common sense this was a lot of fun !
Another favourite one for us for sure
(We wondered what any passing muggles must have thought of the strange noises below)

5839 + 628 = 6467. Second of two finds this afternoon - definately the 'cooler' of the two in more ways than one !
Finally decided that today was the perfect day to go for this one. The weather suited it very well ! So I didn't wander around on my own I took back up with me. Walked a familiar route up and up to GZ. More graffiti than I remember. Soon arrived and started the search. Located the little guy in the only spot it really could be. Nicely placed.
On the way back a strange thing happened. Two little boys appeared, gathered up some golf balls that were lying around GZ, and they preceeded to take turns throwing them down the route back towards our car to see how far they'd go ?? Not once, not twice but several times, and laughs could be heard echoing around the place for quite some time ?? Very weird. When we reach the 'outside' they disappeared ?? Very very weird. Oh well - thanks very much for the cool fun Tankengine - a Favourite Point from Me !
TNLN - TFTC !!

Finally found it after going there three times. I must say that i would probably not have been able to find it without some help from T.E Awsome cache and the hardest one for me so far. TFTC T.E and thanks to my kids for helping.
Woot...finally get the closest to home unfound off the to-do list.
You know when a guy comes over for dinner and brings wine... and then suggests....that you go scrounging around a drain in the middle of the night? Of course the answer just has to be "Oh yes baby!"
From there we continued to head uphill to finish up on Mount Taylor....amazingly Elvis the wonder-puppy...who yes - had accompanied us the entire way - managed to get out the top end with a bit of a boost. There was only one stoopidly girly moment when I was being encourage to be quiet due to overhead muggles, but managed to slip and nearly fall A over T thus emitting some loud squawky noises that probably gave said muggles something to think about.
Was amazed at the final location of the cache and that it is still there. Obviously it has a good little niche. Thanks Tankengine for another grand adventure.
