I had the three caches in this vicinity on my radar for about 12 months, but even though Im now retired, finding an opportunity to come down here has proven to be problematic. But today was the last minute opportunity. So let me at this point just say that if you consider attacking the 3 hides here, be prepared for 23kms, 7 1/2 hrs and 790 m of elevation! And Im not unfit! Setting out at around 7, I was already regretting setting out later than I normally would for this sort of thing. I was very thankful for the waypoints provided, as the trail signposting was pretty much non existent. There were a few places along the way that had trees over the trail, but nothing insurmountable. A good proportion of the trail is also slowly being reclaimed by the bush, and will need the efforts of avid bush walkers to continue to keep the trail visible. There were only a couple of steepish sections that were near the bottom, otherwise the incline was relatively consistent for the rest of the track. I passed a few campers on the trail as they made their way up and we would pause and exchange some notes, eventually finding myself at the campsite and a few campers were still enjoying the mild conditions at this location. I had a nice chat with these muggles, who were all very interested in what it was I was here to do. After a short break and a bit of sustenance, I headed off. But this is where it got interesting. Despite what the device was telling me, there was no trailat all. The whole area from the campground to the GZ a complete bush bash, with annoying vines often bridging between bushes making progress slow. Eventually arriving in the GZ, I did manage to spy the very overgrown portion of what must have been the fire trail as shown by my device, which was a relief. I began my search and I wax being sent in all directions. After about 20 minutes I managed finally spot the location as described, which was only spotted when within about a metre due to the density of the scrub. What a relief! I signed the log book and replaced as found.but now the trip back to the campground!I really didnt want to have to battle through the dense vegetation again, so instead I decided to try following the creek, which was so much better. Stopped once again to share the experience with the same muggles who were now beginning to pack up, and to refuel before making the trek back up. It was now a bit warmer, and the extra effort required to go back up had me a little concerned about my fluid supply. So decided to restrict my intake, a bit of breeze would certainly have been a big help, but I only occasionally got a little teaser. I was now going to head out to Ahearns lookout, so was once again very thankful for the upper waypoints! At the end of the day, I was extremely happy to get back to the car where I had more drink ready for me.A very big day out!

A couple of muggle friends invited Charlicorn1500 and I to come along on this bushwalk at short notice so we agreed - especially once I realised this cache was a likely target at the far end. We set out at 10am and ambled along the track, chatting and catching up as usual. We noted the burnt "Starlight Track" sign and dutifully followed it. After a while we passed a fork exiting off to the right and merrily recalled how we went that way on a different walk years ago, and kept on the left track. Eventually after about another 2.5km we got to a big open area with amazing views across to Mt Jellore, but a distinct absence of obvious track to continue along. At this point I checked the phone and realised we were about 2.5km away from the trail. Whoops. Thinking back, last time we came this way we went to Ahearn's Lookout, which is along the same track almost all the way to Emmett's Flat, so we really should have taken that right fork. After a quick lunch and self-reflection break at this very nice location (which would be perfect for a Virtual Cache - take a selfie with Mt Jellore in the background) we headed back along this side track to the main track again. From there we paid much more strict attention to the waypoints kindly provided by the CO and after quite a long descent and a bit of bush-bashing towards the end, we made the campground, complete with some tents and inhabitants around a fire. Here the muggles stopped while Charlicorn1500 and I pressed on for further bushbashing to GZ where a quick find was made of both the old and new containers. Logbook signed, we return-bashed to the campground, paused for a 10 minute break but being conscious of the short daylight we set off on the return leg at about 2:30. Again we struggled to locate the trail initially but soon saw where to cross the creek and begin the ascent. That initial climb back out of the Flat is punishing on the legs but soon we were back on level ground and making good time, then another prolonged climb and finally back to the familiar sign and the hard-pack trail back to the car. Stunning views the whole way, although we all agreed we could have passed under many a koala and not seen them given how focused we were on the trail. Still, it was nice to be out and about among the emerging flowers and greenery, on a very pleasant cool day - with even a nice refreshing drizzle for the final hour of the return journey. Overall a challenging find which we managed to make even more so - to the tune of 21km and 7 hours in total - but enjoyed the company and shared a mutual sense of achievement once complete. An FP for sure - TFTC!

What a journey to find this cache !!!
We started the Starlight Trail down to the campsite. The end of the track was quite overgrown, but nothing compare to the next km ! We finally arrived close to GZ looking for few minutes to find the right GZ. It's completely overgrown around the cache. That keep the cache safe !!! We found the old rusty container and the new one. Signed the logbook and put back the cache in place.
Then we followed the Nattai River and went up via Slott Way track which was pretty hard to follow but we made it.
We really enjoyed the cache and the walk.

The previous cache survived, but the log book was burned inside the cache from the radiant heat of the Green Wattle Creek Bushfire. A new cache container, and logbook, was placed today. The old cache container was also left in situ, as a memorial to that terrible fire.

It is a shame that post fires there are so many weeds growing back along the River.

This geocacher reported that the container is damaged.

Such a beautiful day and opportunity to head down Starlights Track to Emmetts Flat. When I was last out here for Ahearns Lookout with the GOM's about 18 months ago, I made the choice not to head down to Emmetts as it was a very very hot day. I have since felt bad about not heading down with B@W and Crash, however after today, I am so glad I made that decision as I am sure I would have really suffered.
Different story today in the cool of early Spring as this was a delightful walk in and gradual climb out. The area has been scorched by the Christmas bush-fires right down to the river, but the bush is slowly recovering. It was very different to the lush but very dry bush we walked through before.
After checking out the various artefacts of Emmett's ruins I headed over to GZ hopeful that the container had survived. I made a quick and easy find mainly because all around GZ was torched. The container had clearly been subject to a inferno but still intact. The log book inside however had not survived and all that was left was the blackened and charred leaves of the book. I replaced the book with a new log sheet and plastic bag and returned the cache to its spot.
The views from the river of the surrounding cliff lines are quite spectacular providing a lovely vista to have lunch by. The climb back up although long was not so bad, and I headed off to the Earthcache for some mushrooms:)

A fantastic day out and even though 1 cache in 4.5hrs, this worth 1000 urban nanos!! Gets a favourite.
Thanks Hoojar, next target is Bonnum Pic!

PPE had mentioned a walk to this cache and we were keen having eyed it off before on passing trips but never had enough time so joined in along with Crash2079 and Team Canary. We all met for a local breakfast at a familiar spot after Crash and ourselves had a local puzzle raid for a FTF.
A bit of heart starter just after the beginning of the track when we just about stood on a tiger snake! After that we were walking more single file rather than 4 a breast on the fire trail.
No problems with the way points and soon we were rewarded with great views all around as we headed out to Ahearn's lookout. Nice natural hide which fortunately we spotted from the right angle to make a quick find and completed the signing duties.
From the Look out Emmett's place looked so close and Crash and ourself figured well we had already done part of the track and it would be inefficient to come back another day so part way back we said yes lets go when at the track junction. It was an hour down but we did wonder about the trip back as it was heating up. No problem finding the hide and after venturing down to the river to cool off a little a bit to eat it was back up again. A bit of puffing and only 1 hr 10 min back to the junction and then the flatter track to the car. Great walks and nice to knock both off at once.
No for an icy cold drink!

When PPE put out the call to go for a walk to Ahearn Lookout, I couldn't resist. Picked up b@w early so that we had time to grab a puzzle cache near Bowral before meeting Team Canary and PPE for coffee at Mittagong.

With temperatures expected in the high 20's, we set off from the car park with a little of the morning's coolness still in the air. After a nice walk and taking in the spectacular scenery at Ahearn Lookout, b@w and myself made the crazy decision to double up with Emmett's Place.

After walking downhill for an hour, we added our names to the log. Took some time to explore, take some photos, have a snack and recuperate before facing up to the hard slog back up the hill. It certainly was brutal especially with the sun beating down on us. Surprisingly it didn't take us much longer to get back up to the junction but from there it felt like an eternity before we were enjoying the a/c in the car. With 25km under our belt, we felt it only fitting to reward ourselves with a cold drink at Hill Top where we met up again with Team Canary.

What a fantastic adventure which won't be forgotten in a hurry.

Found on a nice weekend to Russells Needle. Having ventured in the heat down the slot way, a well needed break before the climb made sense. The climb is another story, but the following day the GF and I took a detour along the river to GZ and up a very hot exit on starlights trail. TFTC!!!!

I have been wanting to find this cache for a while and today I got the opportunity. I hiked the Starlights Trail as a workout for my upcoming North Coast Trail trip. Visited a couple TB's and signed log. Thanks for placing this cache which has introduced me to this awesome trail as well. TFTC

Out for a day walk. Down The Slott Way and then along the Nattai, which is easy walking since the flood cleared the undergrowth. My exit was up Starlight’s Track. A pleasant day in the bush.

Thanks hoojar. The cache is in good shape. Found at 11.25am.

What a momentous experience! The stars finally aligned and we had a day locked in for this one. After a lot of contact with both 154Crows and Bonfire7 we were confident with our preparation and research, so the day was going ahead as planned. MelcMD was also free for the day and was more than welcome to join in on the trip.

We met up at our regular rendezvous point at 8am. Organised our gear and acquired additional supplies from the shops. It was 9am when we set off from the parking coordinates. The track was easy to follow all the way down to Emmett’s Flat. I originally remembered it being much steeper and straining on the knees, so I was glad to be wrong. The cache was easy to find and we all inked our names into the logbook at 11:30am. We returned back to the campsite for a quick lunch before heading back up and out of the valley. It was hard going to begin with but eventually we made it back into denser bushland which helped keep us cool from the heat of the harsh midday sun. We took our time marching back up the gradient. Before we knew it we were back up at the top campsite, on the main firetrail, and then back at the car between 2:30-3pm. When we were back at the carpark we checked the NPWS Bushwalking Log and it dawned on us that around this time last year was when we found Ahearn Lookout, so the organising and walk of this one has literally been 'a year in the making'.

I’m really happy to have found this one today. It feels good to have completed ‘The Trifecta of Hoojar Bushwalk Caches’ (Ahearn Lookout, Bonnum Pic, & Emmett’s Place). ‘The Trifecta’ has definitely challenged me – so I feel a great sense of accomplishment to have achieved what was once thought unobtainable. As an added bonus, I now qualify for the 30km Radius Challenge too.

Thanks to Hoojar for placing these caches on walks that I wouldn’t otherwise visit, but places that should be visited far more frequently! Also a big thank you to 154Crows, Bonfire7, and MelcMD for ongoing company and teamwork.

Until next time,
TFTC.

Well I tagged along with a welcoming group of cachers/friends for this trip on the the spur of the moment. We headed out early on Father's Day and while the weather looked like it might rain it held off all day and turned into beautiful weather. All up, the round trip took us about 6 hours with a lunch break included in the gully.

It was interesting seeing Emmett's Stove still there. Its a pity we didn't make it down when the hut was still present Sad

Thanks for the cache and the wonderful walk Smile

This had been on our to do list for some time now, finally today was the day we could all get together for the walk down to Emmetts,
The day started overcast but soon cleared,we took our time just chatting away the whole way and soon we had made our way to the lower camping ground...what a great spot !!! I was most impressed here, could definatly come back and spend alot longer,we had a good look around checking out the camp before heading over to make the find and signing the log.
After the cache we all sat and enjoyed lunch back at the camp before starting our trek back up the hill. The first of the climb was the hottest, the ground here is so dry but as we climbed that little higher it started to cool off.
Again we just took our time on the way out, taking a couple of breather stops but it didnt seem like long and we were at the top camp and heading to the car,I always find that time flies by on these walks.
Overall it was a pretty awesome day out with good friends, the camping ground was really something to see but I still want to know how Emmett got that boiler all the way down there.....Great spot
Thanks Hoojar for bringing us down to visit Emmetts Place...20th fav point !!
Thanks for the cache Smile

I'd been ready to do this one for some time now but waited patiently for the rest of our group to get onboard. The description and previous logs are intimidating - for good reason - but I found the journey much easier than anticipated. The grade was not as steep as I expected but don't kid yourself it is a long trail just the same. The weather was on our side; it was a perfect day for walking. Conversation (on countless topics) all the way down, then all the way back up again, made the time pass quickly and effortlessly.

For perspective: just as Muppet95 says, it's nice to tick off 'The Trifecta of Hoojar Bushwalk Caches' but for us we have only two more caches to get to complete our 30k radius (both are Hoojar hides) and then the first two heading toward 50k are also Hoojar's... which kind of let's you know what you're in for when things like Emmett's and Bonnum Pic are among the closest to home. Certainly, I won't have to worry about atrophizing with walks like this nearby.

All up, a grand day out. TFTC.

Having already waked out to Ahearn lookout I was keen to get to this cache and back as a day walk but not having been down to Emmetts Flat before I didn't want to spoil the experience by rushing it.

Leaving Ahearn lookout I back-tracked some 500m to a prominent spur where some convenient tape marked a good spot to head off track. The spur was very steep and at times tricky but for the experienced is a nice short cut to the valley floor where I soon rejoined the track and onto Emmetts Flat.

Heading straight to the cache I was soon adding my name before I spent some time exploring the ruins and the nearby river where I vowed to return with the family for an overnight camping trip.

The return journey was tough but rewarding as I completed the 2 caches and was back at the car within 5hrs.

Thanks Hoojar

I found this one a few years ago however we were hiking past so we thought we'd check it. The log book is a bit damp but otherwise it has survived the recent storms without a problem.

Finally, found this one on the second attempt.

Started off with a group of six and made our way to Ahearn Lookout first, which was fairly straight forward.

Stopped for lunch, then backtracked to the junction with Starlights before beginning the descent to Emmett's.

This is where it got tricky, because although the weather was good, the track is shocking. Trees fallen over the path, lots and lots of spiky plants covering the track, slippery rocky edges and lots of spots to slip on. At points the track is hard to follow as well. We still barrelled down the hill and made it past the hollow rock and the first river (Currently dried up). This is where I turned back last time, but this time, there was still sunlight so we persisted.

An injury or two after slipping down one of the trail edges, but merely a flesh wound, and the phone is still ok, although no reception since the hollow rock.

Finally made it through to Emmett's, the camp site and the stove. Interesting how there are many different types of terrain on this path. The stream near Emmett's is very clean.

We checked out Emmett's, wandered around a little to find out how he got the oven there, and then clambered around to finally find the cache. The photos helped. At this point we were all pretty exhausted, but the sun was setting and we needed to get back pronto.

Coming back up from Emmett's was easily the worst part. Totally exhausting and much steeper than you expect. Had to stop regularly, and even then, we were heaving and hawing for quite a while. From the hollow rock it is a little easier, and by the time we made it to the top of Starlight's Track, it was easy enough to stumble the remainder (In the dark).

Thanks for a great cache, great to finally finish it, worthy of a favourite!

Hello Hoojar, thanks for placing this cache. Sometime ago when I was browsing caches in the area I saw this one and for a long time it has been on the list of the things to do. Today was the day!

Geodad and I are early risers and couldn't sleep this particular morning so we were up before sunrise and managed to get to the start of the trail by 7:30am. The track was relatively easy to follow with only one intersection where we could have missed the turn off. We descended further and further into the valley with geodad leading the way. After about an hour or so the track opened up and the views were amazing. We found the camp site first and talked to a lovely couple there before moving on to Emmett's Place. The coordinates were spot on making for a quick find. Geodad loves natural camo and added some more to the cache but this shouldn't cause any problems for the next finder. From here it was back to the campsite for morning tea and a rest before the steep trek out. Geodad was on fire today and I couldn't keep up for the first time in a long time. We only met the same couple on our way out and were back at the car around 12ish. My GPSr suggested we had climbed some 600 m in our journey and my legs felt it!

Thanks for a most enjoyable bush walk. This was cache #999 officially and most certainly a memorable one. Photo attached!

Our 5,500th cache & a great cache to use as a milestone. It was a tad on the warm side today but we came well prepared and, as it was, most of the walk was very shady anyway. It's a very enjoyable walk down here & once we got to the camping spot we regretted not coming last night. It's a super place to camp & I reckon we'll return one day.
After finding the cache we explored some of the area. It's such an interesting location with all the remnants scattered around & the view from the river is spectacular. We also came across an enormous wombat hole that was big enough for a human!
Thanks Hoojar, a fav point for sure.
Cheers,
The Hancock Clan

Found with my Gpskyp Smile

It's definitely more about the hike than the cache on these type of hunts. Gpskyp and I did Ahearn's the week before, and were keen to explore some more of this wonderful area.

We saw so many wonderful rock formations, flora and fauna, and marvelled at the effort it must have taken to transports Emmett's stove, and concrete sink, into the valley.

After a constant downhill trek into the valley, I think I was mentally prepared for the climb back to the top, and enjoyed the slog.

Thanks for this wonderful caching experience

In my muggle days, whilst on holidays I used to look out for interesting physical challenges. I love how GeoCaching has opened up so many more opportunities!

After staying the night at Picton, we arrived at the parking point shortly after 8:30am. Gathered together my safety gear, and headed off with hopefully enough clothing. Meanwhile, GeoWife bravely decided to guard the car from marauding kangaroos or wombats.

But man, the wind was biting - I didn't ever overheat, or take anything off at any stage. Made a rapid descent to Emmett's Place, enjoying the trip immensely. Because I am always a big fat show off, was signing the log after 54mins. Then it was a quick u-turn and off to Ahearn's Lookout.

Part of a good weekend's scouting adventure, the group started on the trail to Ahearns and then diverted south to pick our way between the cliffs to the river valley.

Met a girl guide leader and her charges who had followed Troys Creek to come in from the North. She said there is an overgrown track there formerly used by Emmit.

Veteran cacher Morley196 was kind enough to let me tag along to find this cache. He appeared to walk straight to it! It would have taken me quite a while longer.

Left via Starlight's Trail, bit of a slog uphill but easy enough to follow back to the cars.

Enjoyed seeing Emmit's stove and learning some history of the place. Thanks to the cacher for an interesting memorial.

Wow wow and wow. with a party of five scout leaders and 4 assessors getting certified with the new SIS10 training package so we can take scouts on hikes, we were well prepared for this adventure, now just a hike down the track and back didn't cut the mustered for the assessors and wanted some un tracked experience.

So we head for down the track towards Ahearn look out for a km or so and turn left on a spur, with a compass bearing and head for the gap in the cliffs a few kms further down the river, that gap was interesting navigating as we had a 200 mtr window to hit between creek lines to navigate the gorges and cliffs. we manged that with a few discussions and an interesting climb down.

We eventually hit another "marked" (not on any map) trail in the area, and made our way down safely to hit the track along the river. We had left around 9 and found camp just after 4. Now this would have been an experience but we did it all in the constant rain, we were all saturated by the time we had morning tea so everything was wet including the boots, which squelched nicely after a time i think i poured out a few 100 ml when i took them off

Fortunately the rain eased for about 25 min so we could put up the tents and enough for a nice fire and we did mange to dry off a bit. Wallaro68 and my self went looking for the cache which we located with no trouble but the rain had started again just before we found it so it was a quick sign and replace.

another party of Duke of Ed were also in the valley with us and they had come in from the north on Slott track and reported it was very overgrown, but do able.

In the morning we packed up and headed up starlight track , man this was tough after what we did the day before (the youngest in the party was 22 the next oldest 45 and the oldest was 70) but we got back up in just over 3 1/4 hours, we were proud as the 16 year old DOE's were an hour behind and we left at the same time.

Great experience was had at this one although the cache its self is not difficult if you know what to look for, the terrain we covered was a definite 4.5. Thanks for the cache Hoojar. I did make this one a milestone of 1500, and it also gets a fav. TFTC

I have been meaning to return here and find this cache but I was waiting to share the walk with other cachers. Yesterday 'chalk!' with company and I set off with packs loaded and walked down to the camp ground grabbed the cache and set up camp for the night with a nice fire and a hot brew. Just managed to make some dinner when the thunder started . We thought we might miss out on the rain as the dark storm clouds were moving away from us to the South. Soon enough another fierce storm front came in from further west and was going to pass straight over us. Quick grab of everything and everyone dove into the little two man tent. It was a very loud storm with large hailstones and torrential rain but luckily only lasted for about 20 minutes.
We emerged from the now humid tent to find the area scattered with piles of ice balls, our fire was all but out and the sun about to set. Our companion was persistent enough to manage to restart our campfire so we enjoyed a sit around the campfire sharing stories until it was time to retire to our tents.
In the morning the rain was gone and the bush was smelling fresh and clean. We made our choice of breakfasts and packed up camp preparing for the crank back up the track. The bushes still wet from the rain was a welcomed swipe of moisture as we soon heated up walking out before the day heat emerged. Overall a fun memorable cache with a challenging walk which I was happy to tackle with great company, thanks Chalk! and partner and thanks Hoojar. One to remember. SL..TFTC

A spontaneous decision with Baja 15 to tackle this one had us walking on boxing day for the retrieval. With bags packed and the possibility of light showers three of us set off. We retrieved the cache before setting up camp and with just enough time to have a cuppa, pack some dry sticks under tin for the morning (in case of rain), and cook dinner, before the rains...hail and lightning came. We note the sighting of a great healthy looking yellow belly black snake, the presence of goannas, wombats and in the water, carp and eels. A great walk and a memorable experience. The slog out was definately more strenuous than the walk in but it makes you feel alive to do this sort of thing. Thanks to Baja 15 for sharing the experience with us. Thanks for the cache!

Great place to camp and find a cache.
Finding where it was hidden was easy but walking out in the heat wasn’t.
Thanks for the cache Hoojar.

Decided to try for this cache on the long weekend. Set out Saturday and traversed the track down to Emmett's place looked over the ruins found the cache then set up our camp for the night.
Next morning decided to head out before the day became to hot, up up and out. So happy to see that car waiting there for us.
Thanks Hoojar for the cache

Ah, so close and yet so far!

Started from the car park at 10AM, hiked all the way up to Ahearn Lookout, found cache there, then turned around and made our way back along the trail.

Got a little lost switching from the Ahearn trail to the Emmett's trail but eventually got to the camp site waypoint.

Had a discussion about whether to continue, decided to push on, although sun would be setting in about 3 hours time.

With aching feet and joints, started descent to Emmett's Place. Trail was very overgrown with multiple fallen logs and lots of new growth covering the path. Made it down to the large hollow rock, another decision point, before deciding to keep going.

Finally made it to the rest stop and water point, and was only 1.8 km away from the finish. Had to make the difficult decision to turn around and hike back because we had really run out of light.

So with very very sore limbs, made our way back to the rock (Toughest hike back up), the campsite, and eventually, the car. Phew!

Will definitely return.

Leading up to my 400th find, I decided to find Ahearn Lookout and Emmett's Place.
Starting out this morning at 8 AM, only to find nails a builder had just thrown about my driveway had given me a flat tire.
Finally with that fixed I was on my way.
Arrived at the car park which was full by 9:30, and made my way down the Starlight Track to Ahearn Lookout. I crossed paths with a red belly black snake. I took some snapshots of the snake and the views from the ridge. Cache log signed #399 I was on my way to Emmett's Place.
I had lunch on the turnoff and made my way down.
I passed other campers coming up from the night out, all talking about a large striped brown snake near the river. I kept away from there!
Passed through the camp site to the ruins and signed the log book - #400.
On my return trip to the car, I met up with another 2 people on the way down to camp the night.
Finished the day trip by 3:30 at the car park.
Overall a great experience!

Found by Pi and two muggle friends.

I haven't been down Starlights for some years now so I organised an overnighter with some friends. We made a leisurely start on Saturday and had a late morning tea on Point Hill (the Ahearn Track) before doubling back and heading down Starlights. It was hot and very humid on Saturday so we took our time. We had lunch under a tree at the top of the switchbacks before our final thrust for camp.

I was astounded to see the little creek that you cross before reaching the main camp ground was flowing, which is something I have never seen before. Couldn't believe how overgrown the camp ground has become either. We set up our tents and headed over to Troys Creek to gather water and since we were right next door we decided to try to find the cache.

At this point I realised that I had actually left my GPSr at home. My phone which also has a GPSr didn't have the cache waypoint so it was useless. I thought to myself "well this was going to be fun". By chance I had checked the spoiler photo on Friday so I had some idea of the hidey-hole. After 15 minutes of scrambling around the place I noticed some foot prints in soft earth that headed towards a location that looked very promising. A quick scramble and bingo. I was very relieved. Signed the log and re-hid the cache.

Saturday night was strangely warm until well into the night when the temperature just took a nose dive (which was a relief). Had a good nights sleep except for the Owl that wouldn't shut up. Slept in on Sunday and made a late start on the walk out. A late morning tea stop not far past the top of the switchbacks, lunch at Toothache Rock and then back to the car. Stopped for an ice block at the shops in Hill Top, it was nice.

TNLNSL.

Thanks,
Michael.

This hike had been a while in the planning so today I set off with a couple of my muggle family members and made the trip down starlights trail. It was a lovely walk down into the valley, and I didnt expect to find such a beautiful place down the bottom by the river. We spent a while exploring the camping ground, rivers edge and the remains of Emmets place before fanning out to find the cache. It didnt take long and we sat on the bank and signed the log and took in the views. The hike back out along starlights was a bit taxing, it sure didnt seem that steep coming down. We had planned to find Ahearns as well today but by the time we got back up the weather began to close in and we decided to come back another day. Thanks for taking us to such a great spot, it was well worth the trip.

We hiked into the camping area with some scouts from 1st Keiraville for a trial green cord hike. We came in via slots way and then down along the river. After setting up camp and gathering some firewood we headed off to find Emmett's place. It is a shame that all that remains is his stove and bed but it was fun to explore. Setting the scouts off in search of the cache they were clambering all over the place. They found some great hiding spots but I found it first safely in its hide. We all signed the log (even the muggles ) as it might be some first cache. Thanks Hoojar. We had a great time down here. The campfire and game of life was a highlight. We got up early on Sunday morning to make our way up starlights trail arriving back at the parking spot around 11:00am. Thanks to Rex - o - Rama For leading us and thanks to the scouts who made it a great hike. We will be back to tackle the cache at the lookout another day. TFTC

After the detour to Ahearns Lookout, it was down the Starlights Track to find Emmetts Place. The walk down was straightforward and I arrived at the camp ground about 230pm. Surprisingly no one here on a long weekend. I ended up having the valley to myself which was fantastic. After dropping my pack I headed on to find the cache. Had a look at the old house site, and then the cache.

There was plenty of water flowing, and even some jonquils flowering at the camp ground to make it even more special.

TNLNSL, thanks for the cache Hoojar!
best wishes,
Wal

Took some friends bushwalking in the Nattai Wilderness. Went down the Slott track, which is a beautiful walk down into the valley, walked downstream for 2 km to Emmett's Flat and then walked back up the Starlight Trail. While at Emmett's I found the cache not far from the old fire trail leading up from Troy's Creek. One day I'll need to follow this track to the top although I believe it is very eroded. Once back up the top had no time to go out to Ahearn's Lookout. Will need to do this another weekend. Beautiful area, thanks for the cache.

CoolCoolCool The origional plan out the window we found ourselves all fired up and ready to take on this cache after having just found Ahearn Lookout. Once back on the starlights track we decided to walk down hill rather than back to the car.
We have walked this track several times before but today there seems to be more bush growth and fallen trees over the track. Again the walk through this area is very rewarding and also very different to the vegetaton on the upper levels.
we walked directly to to cache and did the duties. The cache was rather exposed but still dry and in good order. We returned it snug and made some better cover. As usual we found the waypoints helpful and spot on.
I enjoyed a quick dip in the river, geowife not so inclined after spotting the eels wriggling over the weeds. Refreshed and fueled up with a bit of lunch we started our return journey. Always a bit of a grind out of here but we eventually reached the top and walked the last kilometer back to the car feeling very pleased with our efforts and looking forward to our next adventure.
Thanks Hoojar for placing this cache here, a great experence

Well, what can I say about this one? I had it planned quit a while ago already, but had no change (time) of getting there. Yesterday my wife said she was gonna sleep long into the day, maybe even till eleven!? So if I wanted to go for a walk I was free to do so!! Mmm, quick decision, putting the alarm on very early and of I was this morning. The ride was dark and foggy, but when I arived all opened up. Parked the car were I tough the shade would be and headed of. The way down went way quicker then expected even with a few stops to take some pics.Emmett's place looked like somebody just did the lawn! I am still figuring out how people use to get all that stuff in these remote area's?
Did my cache duties and was ready for the climb, the cache is in perfect order and the contents comply to the NWPS standard again!
Still fit the climb up went smooth and soon I was back at the campground on top with a lot of time to spare........
Great cache and a great walk if you make sure you come well prepared!!

Awesome cache, found at 730am. I love these type of caches where you go to places you otherwise wouldn't go to. Picked up TB as well. This one is up there with Pirates of the Nepean, thanks!

Deciding to do this one today as no one had got it yet. Starting time 2.30pm ( I know 5hrs return), cache in hand by 4.45pm ( I know the sun will be gone in 10 minutes). Power walking back out but who was I kidding....it got dark but luckily there was a 3/4 moon out that lit up the way as my torch was running low but only used it for half hour just until we got back to main track. Looks like I wll be back to camp there in summer. Great place. Time out 7pm. Done with B.I.A.O.

Long trek to this my third cache. Started at 2.30 - arrived back at car 7pm. Allowed Edge Creeper to creep along with me on the promise he wouldn't slow me down and would keep up as I wanted to make it back not long after dark..Almost at GZ and we passed through very secluded and cool camp sight - which looks awesome and will be back to camp Wink

Dam I am sorry I just read that you are not allowed to drop off TB's or GC's. I just downloaded it to my GPS and didn't read any of it but just looked at the co-ordinates.
